My wife and I had the best experience with another couple friend of ours. Ramon was very friendly and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We tried the Pollinator Tequila and it was delicious. The candied bacon was perfect and the Lobster Bisk was so delicious with a little bit of fresh grated Parmesan cheese on top. The Salmon and shrimp were out of this world. I could have eaten just that and been satisfied. The skewers of flame grilled meat (Filet, Beef Rib, New York and many others) were all mouth watering and just kept coming. The atmosphere was cozy and upscale. Dim lighting and cozy ambiance made for a perfect relaxed dining experience. It's good, yes. It's not great. We've been multiple times since the opening and it's always just been middle of the road. They don't use Prime cuts, that's evident, but they do ok with what they have. The standouts are really the shrimp and salmon (which we never saw this time around), and they added scallops a while back but I'm not sure how they are prepared because there's no char or grill or sear on them at all. DH put one in his mouth and spat it out immediately- too fishy- so I didn't even bother with mine (and scallops are my favorite seafood!) They told us they've started doing some things differently- instead of bringing out the sides, they've added them near the salad bar area where you can help yourself, and some they will bring by request. They've also stopped providing fountain soft drinks. A can of soda is $4.50, no refills obviously, so if your child enjoys a nice Sprite or something, just hope they're not too thirsty! It's a pretty restaurant with multiple dining areas and beautiful decor but, for better service, ask to sit in the main dining room. The service tempo is definitely more relaxed than the other places, there isn't as much hustle or attention to detail. Still good for a nice meal, just not a first choice for us. The ambiance set with the decor was very relaxed and made me feel like it wasn't your typical "steakhouse", it felt more luxurious yet casual. We came here for date night during restaurant week to try something new. When we arrived there was a line as a number of people were attempting to do a walk in. We made reservations so we were good to go. This steak house is very quaint and a nice ambiance. They have a full bar as well. We were sat at our table for two with the whole set up and the waitress came over to explain everything to us. We ordered drinks old fashioned and my wife had a Caipirinha. The old fashioned was pretty good (no smoke) and my wife didn't really care for the Caipirinha. Said it was very bitter. She ended up with a Pomegranate Lemon Drop Martini. She liked that one a lot better. We proceeded to the salad bar. Pasta salad, potato salad, chicken salad, egg salad, Cesar and more. They also have a soup table with different breads as well. We enjoyed a little of everything for samples. We then finished our salad bar plate and flipped card to start the meat. The severs brought out multiple cuts of meat ( Brazilian Steakhouse Style). There were some really great pieces and Some not so much . The lamb sirloin was very herbaceous ( rosemary rich). The sirloin, filet mignon (wrapped in bacon), and top sirloin are well seasoned. We did not try the pork. Dinner came with Augratin potatoes and plantains. Overall the service was pretty good. The price for drinks are a bit high ($20 for old fashioned with Woodford). Had a fantastic dinner here tonight. I went because of their restaurant week deal but ended up just going with the signature dinner. I don't usually do the salad bar at a Brazilian steakhouse but they had chicharrön and mashed potatoes. The chicharrön was dried out though like it had been there a while. Found some good pieces though. The wait staff was super attentive. And the meat kept coming. All was delicious. If you've been to a Brazilian steakhouse you know what time it is. But here was the first place I saw a cheese with honey being served with the meats. Seemed popular as well. Not for me but it seemed like it was well received. After all that you might wonder why I gave them two stars. Well it's because they overcharged me by $20 and i did not realize until I got home. I did notice they added a soda to our tab when we had two sweet teas and a water. When we asked about it they apologized profusely and said a different server had rung us up. Which is true. Someone different than our server got us our tab. We figured she must have thought the water was sprite. Ok easy mistake. But we also asked during the meal the cost for my 11 year old son. And the waitress told us the kid price stopped at 7 years old. Seemed young but again we thought nothing suspicious of it. We should have checked. Come to find out the kids price was $39 not $55 and it was until 11 years old. So between the extra soda and the full price dinner for a child, that's $20 extra. Flawless experience here. This would probably have to be the best Brazilian steakhouse I've ever been to. The staff was incredibly friendly and very attentive to any of our requests and needs. The inside is gorgeous. They have lots of decorations on the wall and the lighting is nice as well. I really like the fact that they have the $40 deal for dinner Monday through Thursday this month. The best part about this is they don't hold out on any meats because they are doing this promotion. My favorite meats are definitely the ribeye the Wagyu and the beef ribs. Decided to come to Avenida Brazil for Restaurant Week. Came before 4 pm so we got the lunch deal. Woohoo! Same menu for $30 per speed on instead of $45. The Salad Bar was wonderful. I loved the smoked salmon and lightly grilled Ahi Tuna plus everything else. I ordered the lemonade and my husband opted for Diet Coke. Unfortunately, he didn't noticed it was Coke Zero which he changed out for an Amaretto Sour instead. Meat wise, I had Picanha, Bottom Sirloin and Grilled Shrimp. I was stuffed by the time the Lamb Sirloin came around. Next time! My husband enjoyed the same meats plus spicy Picanha. I was worried since he doesn't eat much spicy food but he said it was not "hot" but was flavorful. As part of the Restaurant Week Menu, we also get Dessert Duo (mini slice of Mew York Style Cheesecake and a mini slice of Chocolate Mousse Cake). We will need to take these "to go". Service was excellent with many servers checking on us. The Manager also stopped by several times. First time here and it was a wonderful experience! Food 10/10, ambiance 10/10 and service 10000/10! Isabella and Miriam took such great care of us! They were both so attentive the entire time we dined. The overall concept is the same as most Brazilian steak houses/restaurants. Serve yourself all sides and flip your coaster to green for "yes" or red for"no" to get served more of the meats. We arrived as soon as they opened so we got everything fresh from the salad bar. They had delicious sides from salad with a plethora of toppings, to meat empanadas. They bring a few starters: plantains, small cheese muffins, and potatoes au gratin. I loved them all. The meat cuts were also so delicious! They had so many other options like salmon, shrimp, chicken and sausage in addition to the steak options; ribeye, wagyu (our favorite), and more. I often wish we had a Brasao on this side of town but this place holds me over well until I get back over to the Rim. Did the rodeo special. The lobster bisque was just so creamy and decadent. Made a late reservation to have lunch at this new Brazilian steakhouse during Restaurant Week. Upon walking in, I noticed the decor was very nice and appealing. Our server met us almost immediately upon arriving at our table, which was also nice. Overall, the service was friendly and very efficient. I think what stood out most was the speed of the gauchos to come and go to our table with their offerings. While I didn't visit the salad bar, my first impression while walking past it was that it was very clean and presented well. My favorite cuts were absolutely on-point. especially the top and bottom sirloin. The good-sized shrimp were a nice added surprise and were perfectly done, as well. We were immediately seated when we got to the restaurant. Our server explained how they work which we were already familiar with. We started with the salad bar which had a nice selection. The picture on my plate does not do it justice at all. I will say that the lobster bisque was really delicious. The select meats kept coming once we had our green cards showing. Super late review, but my family and I came here for my little sister's birthday awhile back and it was SO GOOD. We especially enjoyed the picanha and I loved the Brazilian lemonade. Came here for the $39 March Dinner Deal for my boyfriends birthday. It was good. I appreciated the variety of meats they brought out but some of the servers kept skipping our table regardless of us having the green side up , we had to ask for them to come by. The place is pretty small and tight so it's hard to get around. Although this is a formal steakhouse, I found it distasteful that they charge for water and don't notify you of it. I have been to plenty of steakhouses and none charge you for it unless you SPECIFICALLY ASKED for the bottled/glass water or sparkling. Instead they just asked "sparkling or spring" and did not suggest it came with a cost. They also automatically added the tip on the receipt which is usually done for tables 6 or more.. we were 5 and the reservation was for 5. Fine for the March Deal but I would not pay regular price here just because of the first impression I got from this place. I rather drive to Austin for their steakhouses. read more

The staff was really nice and helpful also, however they did end up making a mistake on our drink charges (which they 100% remediated) and found out that they overcharged our kid as an adult. When I asked what the cut of age was I was met with "I am not sure, I think 7". Their website had a different age limit and we didn't check until we had already left. I immediately noticed that the dual sided salad bar looked smaller than other Brazilian restaurants in town, but the offerings were plentiful, fresh and satisfying. Avenida Brazil actually has more hot items in their salad bar than Im accustomed to, which includes two soups (lobster bisque and tomato basil), black beans, Brazilian rice, empanadas and several other options. I liked that there was a salad bar option, a seafood (salmon and shrimp) plus salad bar as well as a traditional meat, seafood and salad bar buffet dinner option. The salad and soup were so good that I had to stop there on this visit, but I'll be back to try the full menu next time! I had heard good things about Avenida Brazil which had me wanting to try it out. We ended up coming during Restaurant Week and had a good time. The salad bar is quite large and offers alot of options including hot soup. There did seem to be some miscommunication about the menu for Restaurant Week because the servers coming around with the meat simply walked away when I asked for a lamb chop, even though out waiter specifically sent him to our table. Also our waiter was new, so she didn't know the details either, which was a little frustrating. In the future, I would either increase the price to include the full menu or make it clear at the beginning of the meal so there is no confusion. My friend also had issues getting meat to the right temp. Overall, it was a good meal and experience, but there are other Brazilian restaurants that I might go to before coming back here. read more

My wife and I wanted to try Avenida Brazil my birthday dinner because we love the Brazilian steakhouse concept - trying many different cuts and types of meat. We had reservations and were seated promptly. A server came and took our drink order and never returned. About 10 minutes later, a different server came to the table and asked to take our drink order - we told her that we had already placed the order with a different server. About 20 minutes after we placed our initial drink order, I flagged down a third server and explained the situation. He apologized profusely and had our drinks out fairly quickly after that. The salad bar was very typical of any of the Brazilian steakhouses in town - good variety and all appeared fresh and were well plated. I was disappointed in the meat selection and quality. My wife asked for lamb chops and was told they were cooked to order. About 30 minutes later (after we had finished eating and ordered dessert), the lamb chops were delivered to the table. Very frustrating. The restaurant was good sized, but was poorly laid out in my opinion - I felt like walking to and from the table to the salad bar or restroom, it was VERY crowded and very broken up with no ability to walk in a straight line - I felt you had to zig-zag around tables or the salad bar to move around. We both decided that this was a "one and done", as we have had much better service and higher quality of meat at other Brazilian steakhouses in town. read more

I really wanted to like this place more than Brasão and Chama Gaucha since it's priced slightly lower than those two Brazilian restaurants. However, I'd rather pay the premium to get better quality of food and service at those two aforementioned restaurants. Service was good but not superb, and given the price point, I expected there to be better attention to detail. The table ended up with lots of meat "crumbs" that were never brushed off using a crumb collector by any of the wait staff. The salad bar was also very lackluster, with no cheese wheel of parmesano reggiano. I usually look forward to the salad bar to start off a great Brazilian steakhouse experience, but it was only okay. They did have a hot foods station, which I thought was cool, but the hot foods weren't any spectacular either. Onto the meats: you can't go wrong with the classic picanha cut, which was cooked beautifully and at a perfect temperature. The lamb chop was also tender but wasn't nearly as good as the those offered at the other two steakhouses mentioned earlier. The shrimps were also slightly overcooked and weren't as tender as I expected them to be. (These are the three meat items I judge Brazilian steakhouses on. In my opinion, a really good one will excel in all three.) The ambiance was great, and I really liked the set up of the tables and decor. Will I return? Probably not, but I think if you've never been to a Brazilian steakhouse before and want to have a good experience for an affordable price, definitely check this place out for lunch on Fridays! Upon arrival we checked in (smoothly) we were then seated and provided the round notifications (let's then no if you want more or no meat) they had a good selection of sides we initially went in for the 7meat selection (very lumited meats)but ended up with the full meat since lamb chops was not available. Well I don't cook turkeys so for our thanksgiving tradition we go to a Brazilian steak house. And this year we went to Avenida and I think we have found our new holiday spot. The regular food items were delicious and the special Thanksgiving items were tasty as well. What a great variety of everything! Our first time here but definitely not the last! An intimate setting for a fabulous Brazilian meal. Lights are low, nice music, even a window side table. They have a cold salad bar and a warm salad bar as well as strolling waiters with beef, chicken, lamb, and sausage plus salmon, scallops, and shrimp! I'll try to describe the scrumptious offerings that my husband or I tasted. They offer a traditional selection of salads including wedge, caprese, caesar, and several others. Hubby said the fresh raw tuna was as good as wagyu beef and the smoked salmon was superb. Terrific selection of cheeses to include a marvelously creamy blue cheese. The warm bar included a delightfully creamy lobster bisque - you could see and taste the lobster - the most wonderful caramelized bacon, oven-roasted pork butt, and more. The meat selections included a super tender lamb steak, lamb chops, beef sirloin, beef picanha, chicken breast wrapped in bacon, chicken thighs, sausage, perfectly seasoned grilled shrimp, garlic sauteed scallops, and a delightful salmon. They brought au gratin potatoes (super creamy cheese), cheese puffs, and fried bananas to the table. Probably even more that I can't recall. Every item was perfect. They offer a dessert menu but neither of us could even think about more to eat. The service was absolutely superb. All wait staff checked regularly to see what else you might want to taste. Drinks were refreshed regularly. The full bar has about 6 seats and looked like a great place to meet friends. They offer an extensive wine list and many creative cocktails. There are about 20 tables plus a private room for about 2 dozen. You don't feel pressed for time or space. The restrooms were super clean and both men's and women's had a baby changing station. I'm a steak lover and it was on my mind when arriving into San Antonio. I opted to go the 'no chain' route because I wanted to try something different that was close to the airport and stumbled upon this place. Per the yelp pics (shout out to all of y'all) I was happy to see they had Salmon, Shrimp AND Scallops as options (say what?!?!?)! I was immediately seated and everyone from the hostess, servers to the manager were extremely nice. The salad/hot bar were pretty standard, but I specifically enjoyed seeing, what looked like, a beef fried rice option which was good. My fave was the lobster bisque (more on that later). 5 stars for sure at this point.... Now on to the steak and meats; overall, not much seasoning on the steaks specifically. All were cooked to my liking but lacked flavor on most selections. The house special was the show eventhough they had plenty of options. The Salmon, good but dry, and the scallops had a weird bitter taste which was very disappointing b/c I love scallops. Now the winner of the night was the shrimp--hands down! Those things were huge, drenched with perfect flavor and when dipped in the lobster bisque, were absolutely amazing. I swear I ate 1.5 sticks of those things! HA. I was too full for dessert, but I'd definitely return just to see if the seasoning on the steaks and the taste of the scallops were an issue on this day only. Wonderful food and service here! My dad is a huge fan of steaks and he really wanted to try it out. I'm not as big of a steak fan but when I came in I saw that their salad bar looked phenomenal so I decided to do the salad bar only. Great alternative to Chama Goucha. Has a lot of the same menu items on a smaller scale but all of them were very tasty. Salad bar was fully stocked and the addition of shrimp was a nice touch. My husband was excited to see a HUGE stack of crispy bacon. Overall it was a wonderful eating experience at a better price than the other Brazilian steak house. After a lot of recommends, restaurant week seemed a perfect time to try. One disclaimer: I typically don't like Brazilian steakhouses. Husband loves them. So,,,we go. The first thing I noticed was how attentive staff is. I started with the salad bar. It's smaller than Chama, however there were 3 soups and a few different things like garlic bread slices ,chicharron and meat empanadas. They also have more sides to choose from. The meat started with shrimp. Something I haven't had at the others. Then the top and bottom sirloin, picahnas, chicken and lamb. As much as I wanted to love this, it wasn't what I hoped for. Food was under seasoned. It was cooked well but some of it was not warm enough for me. Some cuts were too fatty. Main thing, food was too bland for my liking. Service was great ambiance was nice. As busy as it was, it wasn't too loud either. That's a plus. Probably will try again after restaurant week ends. read more
