Having never been to a Brazilian steak house and THIS one being my first, blew my mind. It was amazing. The ambiance set with the decor was very relaxed and made me feel like it wasn't your typical "steakhouse", it felt more luxurious yet casual. The staff are super helpful and always willing to help you however. From the staff in the front to the staff running the meats, they are all wanting to help elevate your dining experience. All of the meats I tried were cooked to perfection and I couldn't be mad. The salad bar area to all the meats, it was astounding. Highly recommend coming here if possible, you would not be leaving disappointed.

We came here for date night during restaurant week to try something new. When we arrived there was a line as a number of people were attempting to do a walk in. We made reservations so we were good to go. This steak house is very quaint and a nice ambiance. They have a full bar as well. We were sat at our table for two with the whole set up and the waitress came over to explain everything to us. We ordered drinks old fashioned and my wife had a Caipirinha. The old fashioned was pretty good (no smoke) and my wife didn't really care for the Caipirinha. Said it was very bitter. She ended up with a Pomegranate Lemon Drop Martini. She liked that one a lot better. We proceeded to the salad bar. Pasta salad, potato salad, chicken salad, egg salad, Cesar and more. They also have a soup table with different breads as well. We enjoyed a little of everything for samples. We then finished our salad bar plate and flipped card to start the meat. The severs brought out multiple cuts of meat ( Brazilian Steakhouse Style). There were some really great pieces and Some not so much . The lamb sirloin was very herbaceous ( rosemary rich). The sirloin, filet mignon (wrapped in bacon), and top sirloin are well seasoned. We did not try the pork. Dinner came with Augratin potatoes and plantains. Overall the service was pretty good. The price for drinks are a bit high ($20 for old fashioned with Woodford). It was a good experience!

Had a fantastic dinner here tonight. I went because of their restaurant week deal but ended up just going with the signature dinner. I don't usually do the salad bar at a Brazilian steakhouse but they had chicharrön and mashed potatoes. The chicharrön was dried out though like it had been there a while. Found some good pieces though. The wait staff was super attentive. And the meat kept coming. All was delicious. If you've been to a Brazilian steakhouse you know what time it is. But here was the first place I saw a cheese with honey being served with the meats. Seemed popular as well. Not for me but it seemed like it was well received. After all that you might wonder why I gave them two stars. Well it's because they overcharged me by $20 and i did not realize until I got home. I did notice they added a soda to our tab when we had two sweet teas and a water. When we asked about it they apologized profusely and said a different server had rung us up. Which is true. Someone different than our server got us our tab. We figured she must have thought the water was sprite. Ok easy mistake. But we also asked during the meal the cost for my 11 year old son. And the waitress told us the kid price stopped at 7 years old. Seemed young but again we thought nothing suspicious of it. We should have checked. Come to find out the kids price was $39 not $55 and it was until 11 years old. So between the extra soda and the full price dinner for a child, that's $20 extra. Don't know if I'll be back.

Flawless experience here. This would probably have to be the best Brazilian steakhouse I've ever been to. The staff was incredibly friendly and very attentive to any of our requests and needs. The inside is gorgeous. They have lots of decorations on the wall and the lighting is nice as well. I really like the fact that they have the $40 deal for dinner Monday through Thursday this month. The best part about this is they don't hold out on any meats because they are doing this promotion. My favorite meats are definitely the ribeye the Wagyu and the beef ribs. Highly recommend this spot!

Decided to come to Avenida Brazil for Restaurant Week. Came before 4 pm so we got the lunch deal. Woohoo! Same menu for $30 per speed on instead of $45. The Salad Bar was wonderful. I loved the smoked salmon and lightly grilled Ahi Tuna plus everything else. I ordered the lemonade and my husband opted for Diet Coke. Unfortunately, he didn't noticed it was Coke Zero which he changed out for an Amaretto Sour instead. Meat wise, I had Picanha, Bottom Sirloin and Grilled Shrimp. I was stuffed by the time the Lamb Sirloin came around. Next time! My husband enjoyed the same meats plus spicy Picanha. I was worried since he doesn't eat much spicy food but he said it was not "hot" but was flavorful. As part of the Restaurant Week Menu, we also get Dessert Duo (mini slice of Mew York Style Cheesecake and a mini slice of Chocolate Mousse Cake). We will need to take these "to go". Service was excellent with many servers checking on us. The Manager also stopped by several times. The Ambience with the Fireplace displaying on the large screen TV helped since it was getting pretty cold outside. Thank you for the great food and service!

First time here and it was a wonderful experience! Food 10/10, ambiance 10/10 and service 10000/10! Isabella and Miriam took such great care of us! They were both so attentive the entire time we dined. The overall concept is the same as most Brazilian steak houses/restaurants. Serve yourself all sides and flip your coaster to green for "yes" or red for"no" to get served more of the meats. We arrived as soon as they opened so we got everything fresh from the salad bar. They had delicious sides from salad with a plethora of toppings, to meat empanadas. They bring a few starters: plantains, small cheese muffins, and potatoes au gratin. I loved them all. The meat cuts were also so delicious! They had so many other options like salmon, shrimp, chicken and sausage in addition to the steak options; ribeye, wagyu (our favorite), and more. We celebrated my husband's bday and they brought his dessert on a cute bday plate. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience Avenida Brazil !

I often wish we had a Brasao on this side of town but this place holds me over well until I get back over to the Rim. Did the rodeo special. The lobster bisque was just so creamy and decadent. The garlic bread was so good that it gave the Brazilian cheese puffs a run for their money. Fair warning that they do charge for water if you don't specify that you want tap water.

I thought this Brazilian steakhouse was fantastic. The service was unmatched our waitress Isabella and Miriam were nothing short of amazing. The food was delicious, the establishment was clean and beautiful, and the service was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the seasoning and all the cuts of meat. The salad bar was perfect and even had some sides that went perfectly with all the steaks. I really enjoyed the shrimp and wagyu, second was the ribeye and flank. Great job guys, we'll be back.

Jeremiah and Giselle were our wait staff. They made sure we had everything we needed. They really kept on top of it. We really enjoyed our experience at Avenida. The meats were excellent. I feel that they should add more potatoes au gratin in the serving tray if there are 3 or more ppl at the table. The taste everything was excellent. The only bad thing for me was the women's restroom smelled like sewage. Would I come back to this location...prob not unless that was taken care of. We wanted to give this one a try since we've tried all the others in San Antonio.

We came for lunch to try the menu they had for restaurant week. I will say that I was thoroughly impressed that they were open and ready to serve in spite of the below freezing weather last night. We were immediately seated when we got to the restaurant. Our server explained how they work which we were already familiar with. We started with the salad bar which had a nice selection. The picture on my plate does not do it justice at all. I will say that the lobster bisque was really delicious. The select meats kept coming once we had our green cards showing. The sirloins, ribs, chicken, shrimp, cheese with honey were all very good. I also love the look of the interiors. This place is nicely decorated. All together, we had a nice and relaxing experience. We ate way too much but we loved every minute of it.

Came here for the $39 March Dinner Deal for my boyfriends birthday. It was good. I appreciated the variety of meats they brought out but some of the servers kept skipping our table regardless of us having the green side up , we had to ask for them to come by. The place is pretty small and tight so it's hard to get around. Although this is a formal steakhouse, I found it distasteful that they charge for water and don't notify you of it. I have been to plenty of steakhouses and none charge you for it unless you SPECIFICALLY ASKED for the bottled/glass water or sparkling. Instead they just asked "sparkling or spring" and did not suggest it came with a cost. They also automatically added the tip on the receipt which is usually done for tables 6 or more.. we were 5 and the reservation was for 5. Fine for the March Deal but I would not pay regular price here just because of the first impression I got from this place. I rather drive to Austin for their steakhouses.

Avenida Brazil is a lovely restaurant near 1604 & 281. I immediately noticed that the dual sided salad bar looked smaller than other Brazilian restaurants in town, but the offerings were plentiful, fresh and satisfying. Avenida Brazil actually has more hot items in their salad bar than Im accustomed to, which includes two soups (lobster bisque and tomato basil), black beans, Brazilian rice, empanadas and several other options. I liked that there was a salad bar option, a seafood (salmon and shrimp) plus salad bar as well as a traditional meat, seafood and salad bar buffet dinner option. The salad and soup were so good that I had to stop there on this visit, but I'll be back to try the full menu next time! Service was great and the restaurant had a lovely large chandelier that elevated the look and feel of the restaurant.

The ambiance of the place is so relaxing, love the jazz style music, the fun cute bar with yummy drinks! The food is amazing, my fave is the lobster bisque, all the side are equally as impressive, and the meat.. omg.. mouth watering.. all the staff were nice, they didn't round with the lamb, and did not bring out a lot seafood but still delicious! I love the pineapple at the salad bar but I wish they did offer a hot version that they would walk around and serve.. overall amazing and we will be back

Our twelve guests ranged in age from 14-79 years, and everyone had a wonderful experience. We began with waters for the table, soft drinks, and cocktails/mocktails (Man Walks into a Bar, Amba No. 5, Don Alberto, Green Shug Collins). Due to our large party, we had booked a chef's tasting experience, which was spectacular. The appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and unique. Our server, Anissa, did a wonderful job of explaining each dish-- its components, highlights, even suggesting that after finishing the beef dumplings, we stir the oil and yogurt together for an amazing pita dipping sauce. Our meal included four meats-- actually five, considering an off menu chef's creation for our pescatarian guest. It was such an immersive experience, I never took out my phone to capture photos of the food (or our group, sadly). Three desserts topped off the evening. Overall, I'd say most of the people in our group probably would not go back, but I don't necessarily think that was because the food was bad or lacking flavor. I think a lot of us just weren't very accustomed to Mediterranean flavor profiles and this style of dining. Most of us really enjoyed the dips, the meats, and the desserts. Those were definitely the standout parts of the meal for our group. Some of the dishes in between were a little more questionable for us personally -- we tried everything, but there wasn't necessarily one specific dish we completely fell in love with. That being said, the experience itself was amazing. The atmosphere was so cool and unlike anything we had done before. Being served course after course and getting to experience so many different dishes made the meal feel really unique and memorable. All of the staff members who waited on us were absolutely fantastic and so understanding of some of our questioning looks while trying unfamiliar foods. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the experience feel fun and comfortable from start to finish. If you already love Mediterranean food, this place may be right up your alley. I just think it's good to know what kind of flavor profiles to expect before coming, especially if you're newer to this type of cuisine. Overall, we still had a great time there.

Earlier in the day I took a walk through the King William neighborhood and stumbled on this beautiful old house with an inviting vibe. We were so glad we came back for dinner. Fresh, balanced, and perfect for sharing. Crispy Brussels Sprouts with maple, herbs, pecans, and cotija - $10. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. Mac and Cheese - $12. Rich, comforting, and well executed. For mains, Raymond steered us in all the right directions: Mustard Glazed Faroe Island Salmon with warm fingerling potatoes, parsnips, mushrooms, frisée, and herb oil - $30. Beautifully cooked and flavorful. Tomatillo Shrimp with grilled Gulf shrimp, white cheddar grit cake, and tomatillo butter - $28. Bold and delicious. Loretta Burger with crispy prosciutto, manchego, arugula, tomato, grilled red onion, and smash sauce on a brioche bun. Choice of fries or tots - $18 (some had tots, and one had fries - tasty). Absolutely nailed it. Queso Fundido Burger with fried chorizo-queso blanco, charred poblano, and cactus salsa verde. Choice of fries or tots - $20. Indulgent in the best way. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.
