Went down to Avenida for my birthday dinner. The food was definitely better than the other Brazilian steakhouses in the area! The service started out decent, but then slowly faded. Dishes were needing to get replaced or taken away, refills being unattended and the server not really checking in on us. I had to ask for a dessert menu to order a dessert which ended up being free which was nice. I believe it was the manager who we had to flag down to get service at the end. He seemed very nice with good hospitality. I'm rating it high based on the food being very good. I would even give a 5 star if the service was good. I don't understand why we got the service we did but all in all the food was very good!!

Everything was start to finish was amazing at Avenida! We went during Restaurant for a friends birthday and they took amazing care of all of us. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. The salad bar was massive, everything I got from it tasted fresh and not like it had been sitting for hours. All the beef that I tried was so delicious! My personal favorite was the Picanha, highly recommend trying the regular and spicy! We all got the cheesecake/cake after and I loved every bite. Definitely worth trying! I will be returning in the future.

Stopped by for lunch during restaurant week. $30 per person. What a great deal. Service was flawless. Salad bar had nice options for every palette. The meats came out nice hot. Delicious. We were full and took our dessert included with the Restaurant Week deal for later. With restaurant seen lasting 3 weeks this Summer, we may have to come back.

I was excited to try Avenida for Restaurant Week so I made an 11:30 reservation. When our server took the drink order, I said I'd like some water so she offered sparkling or spring. After a trip to the salad bar, I noticed that she left a bottle of water by my glass. I knew there would be a charge so I told her I wanted tap water. She told me she wouldn't charge me. Be sure to ask for tap water if you don't want an additional charge! The salad bar looked ok. I was interested in the hot station with the candied bacon, pork belly and empanadas. The candied bacon and the pork belly were delicious. The beef empanada filling was dry. I also tried a small serving of lobster bisque soup, didn't see any bits of lobster. The server brought out a basket of fries and cheese bread, both tasted good. Then she brought a side of potatoes in a cream sauce. They were barely warm and didn't taste good. I tried the filet mignon with bacon, picanha , spicy picanha, salmon, grilled shrimp, and pork rib. I asked for a side of chimichurri sauce to add flavor to the picanha. My friend also tried the sirloin and said it was chewy. The server put a sign on our table that said restaurant week so we were not offered certain cuts of meat. Good thing I tried the filet mignon before they brought the sign to my table. After I had my fill of meat, I went back to the salad bar and hot station to look around. I wanted to sample the veggie rice, mashed potatoes and chicken stroganoff. The chicken stroganoff tasted terrible. It had such a bad taste I thought I might get food poisoning. We asked for dessert to go. The small foam container was placed in a big paper bag. I'm nosey so I opened the container and was shocked to see a tiny portion of dessert. I looked at the table next to us who received the same dessert but their portion was much larger. When I spoke to the manager, he said it was the same size. It wasn't. He offered to give us another box. Advice...eat your restaurant week dessert after the meal or you will get a small portion. This experience was interesting but it's not good enough for me to return

Wow! My expectations were exceeded here. I've been to a couple Brazilian steakhouse but this one has the best salad/grazing bar. I loved the candied bacon, blue cheese, and chimmichurri from the bar. Service was amazing and the meats came out at a great pace. The meats were seasoned and cooked beautifully. Oh and don't get started on the grilled cheese with honey! We couldn't get enough. Also the restaurant is beautiful and I loved the vibes. Perfect place for a date night or birthday celebration. This place has easily won a place in my heart and tummy!

Came here for the first time & during lunch! The food was great and enjoyed the varieties of meats that were brought up to us. Meats came out perfectly cooked and balanced seasoning. Servers were on point and attentive throughout our time. Meat came out warm and delicious. Place is decent in sizes and can accommodate large parties. Came out so full that we could barely walk!

We came here for date night during restaurant week to try something new. When we arrived there was a line as a number of people were attempting to do a walk in. We made reservations so we were good to go. This steak house is very quaint and a nice ambiance. They have a full bar as well. We were sat at our table for two with the whole set up and the waitress came over to explain everything to us. We ordered drinks old fashioned and my wife had a Caipirinha. The old fashioned was pretty good (no smoke) and my wife didn't really care for the Caipirinha. Said it was very bitter. She ended up with a Pomegranate Lemon Drop Martini. She liked that one a lot better. We proceeded to the salad bar. Pasta salad, potato salad, chicken salad, egg salad, Cesar and more. They also have a soup table with different breads as well. We enjoyed a little of everything for samples. We then finished our salad bar plate and flipped card to start the meat. The severs brought out multiple cuts of meat ( Brazilian Steakhouse Style). There were some really great pieces and Some not so much . The lamb sirloin was very herbaceous ( rosemary rich). The sirloin, filet mignon (wrapped in bacon), and top sirloin are well seasoned. We did not try the pork. Dinner came with Augratin potatoes and plantains. Overall the service was pretty good. The price for drinks are a bit high ($20 for old fashioned with Woodford). It was a good experience!

Had a fantastic dinner here tonight. I went because of their restaurant week deal but ended up just going with the signature dinner. I don't usually do the salad bar at a Brazilian steakhouse but they had chicharrön and mashed potatoes. The chicharrön was dried out though like it had been there a while. Found some good pieces though. The wait staff was super attentive. And the meat kept coming. All was delicious. If you've been to a Brazilian steakhouse you know what time it is. But here was the first place I saw a cheese with honey being served with the meats. Seemed popular as well. Not for me but it seemed like it was well received. After all that you might wonder why I gave them two stars. Well it's because they overcharged me by $20 and i did not realize until I got home. I did notice they added a soda to our tab when we had two sweet teas and a water. When we asked about it they apologized profusely and said a different server had rung us up. Which is true. Someone different than our server got us our tab. We figured she must have thought the water was sprite. Ok easy mistake. But we also asked during the meal the cost for my 11 year old son. And the waitress told us the kid price stopped at 7 years old. Seemed young but again we thought nothing suspicious of it. We should have checked. Come to find out the kids price was $39 not $55 and it was until 11 years old. So between the extra soda and the full price dinner for a child, that's $20 extra. Don't know if I'll be back.

Having never been to a Brazilian steak house and THIS one being my first, blew my mind. It was amazing. The ambiance set with the decor was very relaxed and made me feel like it wasn't your typical "steakhouse", it felt more luxurious yet casual. The staff are super helpful and always willing to help you however. From the staff in the front to the staff running the meats, they are all wanting to help elevate your dining experience. All of the meats I tried were cooked to perfection and I couldn't be mad. The salad bar area to all the meats, it was astounding. Highly recommend coming here if possible, you would not be leaving disappointed.

Flawless experience here. This would probably have to be the best Brazilian steakhouse I've ever been to. The staff was incredibly friendly and very attentive to any of our requests and needs. The inside is gorgeous. They have lots of decorations on the wall and the lighting is nice as well. I really like the fact that they have the $40 deal for dinner Monday through Thursday this month. The best part about this is they don't hold out on any meats because they are doing this promotion. My favorite meats are definitely the ribeye the Wagyu and the beef ribs. Highly recommend this spot!

First time here and it was a wonderful experience! Food 10/10, ambiance 10/10 and service 10000/10! Isabella and Miriam took such great care of us! They were both so attentive the entire time we dined. The overall concept is the same as most Brazilian steak houses/restaurants. Serve yourself all sides and flip your coaster to green for "yes" or red for"no" to get served more of the meats. We arrived as soon as they opened so we got everything fresh from the salad bar. They had delicious sides from salad with a plethora of toppings, to meat empanadas. They bring a few starters: plantains, small cheese muffins, and potatoes au gratin. I loved them all. The meat cuts were also so delicious! They had so many other options like salmon, shrimp, chicken and sausage in addition to the steak options; ribeye, wagyu (our favorite), and more. We celebrated my husband's bday and they brought his dessert on a cute bday plate. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience Avenida Brazil !

I often wish we had a Brasao on this side of town but this place holds me over well until I get back over to the Rim. Did the rodeo special. The lobster bisque was just so creamy and decadent. The garlic bread was so good that it gave the Brazilian cheese puffs a run for their money. Fair warning that they do charge for water if you don't specify that you want tap water.

I thought this Brazilian steakhouse was fantastic. The service was unmatched our waitress Isabella and Miriam were nothing short of amazing. The food was delicious, the establishment was clean and beautiful, and the service was phenomenal. I really enjoyed the seasoning and all the cuts of meat. The salad bar was perfect and even had some sides that went perfectly with all the steaks. I really enjoyed the shrimp and wagyu, second was the ribeye and flank. Great job guys, we'll be back.

Everyone was kind and friendly (except for the hostess downstairs who was rather dismissive). Sat upstairs for dinner on a Sunday in the beautiful front sunroom. The entire second floor is gorgeous and feels elevated compared to the first floor. To start off they serve you bread with a pickled jalapeno cream cheese dip which was the chef (owner?) mother's recipe. So good. I had the lamb chops which were devine. The scalloped potatoes, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, and creamed spinach are all musts. Cocktails and wine all top notch! GO!

Once we arrive at the restaurant we were greeted like VIPs. We were asked a few times if we were there for a special occasion and I mentioned we were there for our anniversary. We were congratulated and that was it. No other "special" treatment or offers because it was our anniversary. The service, the food, and the overall atmosphere were great. No complaints at all. My only issue was this, as we were preparing to pay the bill, a couple (white couple) was seated next to us and they were asked if they were there to celebrate a special occasion, and she said, "it's our anniversary" and the waiter then offered them a complimentary bottle (or glasses) of champagne! Wait, what??? I thought to myself, nobody offered us (a black couple) any complimentary champagne. A different person came to the table to take my credit card and I asked him about it. He did apologize and offered to bring us a couple of glasses of champagne but it was too late. We were done eating/celebrating and it was time to go home. I was 3 weeks from recovering from heart surgery and this was my first time out in the public to eat since my surgery and I didn't want to let not getting a bottle or glass of champagne ruin my evening with my Queen. This incident it want led me to giving 4 stars instead of 5. How can one couple be offered complimentary champagne and another couple not offered any at all???

It seems like reservations are encouraged. At every visit, the servers greeted me with water and asked for my dietary preferences. You can tell that the servers all work together as I had other servers stop by to pack up my food and refill my water. I do love how they offer to pack up my leftovers and do so very nicely. 1st visit: My server was a sweetheart, very attentive, and super nice! I made reservations for 5PM on a Friday. I was one of the first to arrive, but the restaurant quickly filled up. I opted for the Mezas De Alegria, the server brought out Tirshi, Roasted Cabbage, Steamed Red Snapper, and Olive Oil Cake! All were very tasty, my favorites being the Tirshi and Steamed Red Snapped! I also ordered the Greek Wine flight, I enjoyed the Troupis wine best! Out of all of my dining experiences, this was by far my favorite! 2nd visit: My server was also attentive and kind. This time, I didn't make a reservation, I just walked in but was able to be seated at 11AM on a Sunday. I opted the for Turkish Brunch and the Mint Limonada, and they were able to accommodate my dietary preference! Everything was good once again, my favorites were the Grilled Olive and Tomato Salad, Fire Roasted Peppers, and Shakshuka. The Mint Limonada was too sweet for my preference, I had to water it down with some water. 3rd visit: My most recent server was very sweet and kind but wasn't as attentive. I made reservations for 5PM on Friday. She got held up by a table nearby a couple of times. I tried items from the Culinaria Restaurant Week Menu (Armenian Salad, Texas Waygu Kebabs, and Local Fruit Sorbet) Everything was soo good and flavorful. I really enjoyed the Armenian Salad. The Texas Waygu Kebabs were good, but a little chewy for my preference. They were cooked about Med-Well/Well done, though I prefer my beef to be cooked Medium, but I wasn't asked about my preference. I also wasn't given a steak knife and tried to wait for my server, but she was with another table for a while. I had to use my butter knife... The Local fruit sorbet was very refreshing and a light dessert to end my evening. Overall, great experiences, flavor-packed food! I enjoy Mediterranean food, so I'll be back to try more items off their menu!

Or something a bit classier. Service was mediocre, a bit overbearing to be honest with multiple pushes for us to order more. We tried the butternut squash dip, the spicy feta, the hummus, roasted corn and the lamb ribs. We also got 2 spitz and 2 beer. Total for four people with tip was about 95 bucks which is fair. We had a vegetarian at our table so they brought out veggies to dip as well which was nice. My favorite was the roasted corn and the surprisingly the feta. It was enough to be full. Lamb was fatty but flavored nicely.

We were seated in the bar area. Once inside I was struck by its ambience. It is sleek, dark and dare say "sexy." Our server, who was extremely attentive came to our table and took our drink orders. My partner ordered an Old Fashioned and me, a Lagunitas IPA. Whilst waiting for our drinks I looked over the room. One thing I noticed was a barrier that separated the bar area and the dining room. The Social Hour is meant, to socialize. I saw couples leaning into each other. Another group were drinking martinis with a seafood tower, almost touching the ceiling. Conversations were had. Romantic glances were exchanged. It isn't a casual place like Bubba's 33 nor Texas Roadhouse. It feels like a place best suited for a date night or an anniversary. I'm wondering how the dining room area is? The Social Hour does offer some drink and small bites specials. We ordered the kabob with pineapple, brussel sprouts, and sliders. They were all pretty great. It reminded me of the same experience as in partaking in tapas. I would remiss if I didn't relay our service here, it was excellent. Our server, Holiday(I hope I spelled it right.) treated us like we were the only patrons there. I've gone to upscale restaurants where staff looks at you up and down. Or they try to size you up. This is not that place. Which was so refreshing. If this place went above and beyond my expectations why didn't I give it four stars? In my opinion I think that a place that creates an upscale experience needs to have a few beers on tap. Even places like Wing Daddy's or Chili's offers a few beers on tap. Secondly, the bar area seating feels a bit tight. I wonder when the dinner crowd arrives would you be in the lap, of someone else's conversation? I still highly recommend this place. The Social Hour area is perfect for a date or an anniversary. The service and food were both excellent. And I've never been to a place where you are given warm hand towels. It reminded me of that scene with Adam Sandler in "The Wedding Singer" minus Billy Idol.

For 73 years, The Barn Door has been more than a great restaurant; it has been an inexorable piece of San Antonio history. Last week, The Barn Door announced on Facebook that its final day of service will be Sunday, May 11th (Mother's Day). The Barn Door has been an outstanding steakhouse in the truest sense. They've never relied on gimmicks or culinary trends--they've relied on the tried-and-true flavors that have maintained a loyal clientele for decades. I'm taking about hand-cut, primal cuts of beef grilled over real mesquite, delivering that unmistakable South Texas char. I'm referring to plump, wild-caught shrimp from the Gulf Coast, the famous yeast rolls, and tubs of homemade salad dressings. If you've been there, you know how special the overall experience has been. I've read many heartfelt comments on social media asking why such a successful institution would cease operations. Well, dear reader, I have a unique insight into why. Randy Stokes has poured his heart into the restaurant, but he merely leases the building--not the land--from the Straus family. Approximately seven months ago, Mr. Straus decided to sell the dirt beneath the "Barn" to a real estate developer. The plan? To raze this historic site and erect modern condos. It's a familiar story of urban expansion, but it doesn't make the loss any easier to swallow. But before we close the door on "The Barn" forever, a glimmer of hope looms on the horizon. Randy Stokes and his team aren't necessarily hanging up their aprons for good. According to a reliable anonymous source, the team has expressed a desire to reopen The Barn Door at a new location, with eyes set currently on the city's North Side. I hope the promise of a new location comes to fruition, but even if The Barn Door closes forever, I will cherish all the wonderful memories of dining there with my parents and grandparents over the years. I will remember the ingratiating staff, the unique ambience, and the hundreds of delicious meals I've crammed down my gullet.

It's a sketchy area to walk behind the restaurant to the Speakeasy. Anyhow, I ordered the chicken fried ribeye, jalapeño twice baked potato. Now, the potato was great. I didn't care for the ribeye and didn't eat it. The salad was right out of the bag. Iceberg, shredded carrots and cabbage with 5 bagged croutons. What happened? It wasn't like that before. My cream spinach came out late, and we weren't charged for it, which was nice. My brother in laws filet was too done. He asked for medium, and it was medium well. He ate it anyway. They used to have a 6oz ladies filet, but they don't. The server wasn't perfect, but we lived. IF I return, I'll skip the salad, get the filet and potato.
