Had a great experience at Cuishe Mexican! The elote and Chicharrón de Arrachera are two of my absolute favorite menu items--packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I also tried the cucumber martini, which was refreshing and delicious. The staff was warm and welcoming, and I loved that they offer both indoor and outdoor seating. As a bonus, ghw waitress also mentioned that they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, which makes the vibe even better. Definitely a spot I'll keep coming back to! I was very much looking forward to trying Cuishe. However, my first visit left a bad taste in my mouth. When we arrived the bartenders were friendly and the drinks were delicious. The cocktails were the best part of our experience. We planned to order a little of everything to try. We started with the Esquites Negros that feature huitlacoche, something I love but isn't on many menus. Their version was ok, but not great. It tasted like canned huitlacoche mixed with unseasoned frozen corn. After that we got the Pulpo Al Pastor. Octopus is another favorite that can be hard to find. Theirs was served on a warped wooden board that had already started to absorb the pineapple salsa smear. While the octopus was impressive to look at, it did not taste good. It seemed like it had not been prepped or tenderized properly. The bottom 1 inch of the tentacles was tender, but those usually are. Unfortunately higher up the meat was so rubbery that it was almost inedible. I ate a piece cut into tiny chunks with a tortilla and some onion to try to get through it. But I couldn't bring myself to eat more. After we had been sitting a while not touching it, a bartender asked how it was. We explained it was too chewy. He took it back to the kitchen. Another bartender informed us the manager took off 50% of the price of the dish because we had eaten part of it. No manager ever came out to speak to us about it. In fact, we didn't see anyone who looked like management at all during our experience- which is odd for a Friday night dinner service. At that point, we decided not to order more. We were talking about how empty the restaurant was while we were there, and now I can understand why. They have an interesting and intriguing menu, but what we ordered was poorly executed. While we might still go in for cocktails in the future, I don't think I would have dinner there or recommend them to others. Since we were still hungry when we left, we went to 2 other restaurants after this and, thankfully, had much better experiences at both. read more

Cuishe Mexican Cocina was a major letdown for us. We specifically went for their advertised brunch, but the experience started on a bad note and never really recovered. The Service: When we walked in, the restaurant was a ghost town--no one at the host stand and not a single server in sight. After standing around, we eventually just seated ourselves. It took another 5 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. The Food: Despite being at the very beginning of the brunch window, we were told that most of the brunch items were unavailable. It's incredibly frustrating to go somewhere for a specific menu only to find it's mostly "out of stock" right at opening. While the few things we did order were "okay," the overall lack of organization and hospitality left us feeling cold. With so many great Mexican spots in the city, there's really no reason to go back to a place that feels this unprepared. Would not recommend. read more

Visited Cuishe recently for the first time. Our reservation was for 9:30pm and upon entering we thought it was a night club. They had a Dj playing music loudly. The music was fine but the Dj needed a better flow. And it was a little hard to hear ourselves. Otherwise, the service was friendly and prompt. The establishment was clean and lively. I ordered the flautas with rice and refried beans. The flautas were tasty but the beans were dry. My friend order the quesabirria plate. Those were delicious. Very happy we stopped by Cuishe Cocina for dinner while visiting the area. We were expecting the typical Mexican cuisine and were pleasantly surprised to experience something new, central Mexican meals. The tacos were delicious and their offerings of Tequila and Mezcal is impressive. The service was great and our server was attentive and answered all of our questions and recommended a Mezcal to try which was ideal. Amazing Mexican food with variety that I have not seen frequently in the US - with live music and a great overall ambience. With earthy tones and a wide range of music this place is a great spot for adults with bar seating availble, however they do have high chairs for little ones. We came in not too. Hungry and looking for a small bite to eat, we shared the 3 following dishes and it was just enough: Torta de bistek( good size portion, lots of avocado, and salsa), trompo tacos(the pineapple added great flavor, spices salsa comes with it) , and tacos de pork belly( a great combo of sweet and spicey!, served with 3 and highly recommend) . I'm sorry but this was not a good experience. They sat us close to the stage where live music was so that was nice and the performances were great! The bar drinks were just okay to be as expensive as they were. On to the food... The queso flamado was hard and not warm. The tortillas that came with it were mini and def not enough for 4 people. We had to ask for more which took a long while to come out. So long that we thought our server forgot and honestly, she may have. We also ordered the bone marrow but we're surprised when we got a bone with no marrow and a bunch of corn cooked in marrow. Maybe the music was too loud and the server could not hear us, nonetheless it was disappointing and our friends paid for it without any of us consuming much of it. I got the chicken flautas and they were just okay, a bit soggy throughout the middle. Black beans and flavorless rice accompanied this. My husband and friend go the mini tacos with chorizo and beef and there were 4 mini tacos with no rice or beans. They were not filling nor good for that price point. Mini tacos with the fried Fideo were just gross. Not edible. Friend picked out the meat and just ate that. Another ordered the Milanesa and he did not even finish it. It was not fresh and again was flavorless. A large portion of avocado but again no rice and beans. My assumption is that they want you to order the rice and beans separate so that you can pay more. We chose this place because it was open late in the area we were at but it lacks ALOT. Between the 4 of us we spent over $200. It definitely was not worth it. read more

We had an excellent experience at Cuishe Cocina Mexicana which reminded me of eating in Polanco. The food, drinks, and service were all incredible, and the prices are very reasonable. I particularly enjoyed the presentation and service of mezcal; very authentic and delicious. The ambiance is like any upscale restaurant in CDMX with vibrant music and a lively atmosphere. I do wish the restaurant had more grilled or baked vegetables as an appetizer, I feel like this is very authentic to upscale restaurants in Mexico. I noticed grilled or baked cauliflower on the menu as an entree; why not also offer that as an appetizer? We will definitely go back to Cuishe regardless. read more

The service was terrible. It's a shame the food was so good, but the service was so bad. At the end of the night, two women were arguing over a waiter. This isn't the first time it's happened; last week a waiter was yelling at the bartender. They should be more careful and have better control over their employees. Bartenders are the face of a business, and I don't see much of a future for Cuishe. A change in staff would make all the difference in this type of establishment. read more

We popped in as soon as they opened on a quick lunch break and were easily able to order, have amazing service, and eat some damn good food in less than an hour! I personally had the skirt steak tacos which were exactly what I needed, with some frideo on top too so yummy. Then our server Paco was kind enough to let me sample their juices I went with jamaica. The whole restaurant inside and out is beautiful, I know one day we will have to come back to sit outside on their patio! Then of course to try their Happy Hour menu too. Paco was our server and he was great. I thought we were in for a good meal because of how great he was. We got one of the chef's tables bc it has wagyu ribeye, which is one of our favorites. It's such a favorite that I know when I'm eating wagyu and when I'm not. That was not Wagyu. Plus, they don't know how to cook a steak. The first one came out with zero crust or char. We ordered it medium rare and the center was purple. The second one they sent out was noticeably smaller, barely had grill marks, and was still purple. The server asked me to cut into the second one to check the temp. Once he saw the inside, you could hear in his voice he knew it was still rare. Lastly, this place has no sound dampening. It was very loud with just five tables (no live music). We tried to go once when they had live music and it was so loud we had to leave. They do have a lot of offerings so I would go again and order something other than steak (and will sit outside to avoid the noise) read more

Everything went well at Cuishe! We were attended by Ricardo who was very friendly and accommodating. We initially sat on the left dining area as you enter. Everything was going well until a large group sat beside us. They were quite loud so we asked to be transferred in their patio area. The hostess immediately came to our table to let us know they were ready for us outside. Thankfully, it was a beautiful evening so dining in their patio was perfect. Our dinner immediately came to our table. Three of us had the cheese enchiladas with salsa verde and one had the chicken flautas. Our sides consisted of grilled Mexican cheese, rice, refried beans and guacamole. All were delicious. We had lots of leftovers because the serving was quite generous. Ricardo surprised my friend with a complementary dessert to celebrate her birthday. The cake tasted like crema quemada- it was incredibly good. Finally was able to come and try this place that a lot of friends recommended. I'll be completely honest, yes it was good but not for the prices. My favorite things today were the queso fundido that was delicious and huge and the Agua de Jamaica was PERFECT not sweet but not bitter just perfect. The quesobirria was tasty but very greasy. Now the things we didn't like. The Caesar salad, the dressing was just to overpowering not the best. Then usually a Caesar salad they give you romaine lettuce but they gave me leafy greens so it had no crunch and it wasn't mixed well so it just did not taste good. The soap de fideo was good but didn't like the chunks of panella cheese in it. It's just not how I am use to but overall wasn't to bad but not the best either. Last but not least the torta del chilaquiles everything was tasty BUT the bread they use for the torta is not good whatsoever it's literally just a baguette definitely not "authentic" Mexican food. Overall it's a nice place but nothing really stood out to me that made me wanna come back. Even the service was just average and inside was clean but nothing special. For 3 people we spent 100 dollars and to me it was just to pricey that's my personal opinion for the type of food we received it tasted good but not 100 good. read more

I'm a big fan of Cuishe! I usually go to the downtown location which I love but this time we decided to checkout the Stone Oak location. It was just as cute and vibey! My only complaint was that the service was a little slow. It didn't seem like a very busy night but our server didn't seem very attentive. All in all the food was great! We started off with a few of their delicious drinks we had the Toluca and Celaya, sooo good! For starters we had the Queso Fundido that comes with corn tortillas. Disappointed. Wasted time and money for food I could get any other place in San Antonio. A few weeks ago, we went in to enjoy dinner. This was my third time here and honestly, probably my last. The dishes I liked didn't seem to have the flavors I remembered and were disappointing. Our waiter was unfamiliar with the menu and would leave to ask, then would disappear for an extended period of time. It was a slow night and staff was difficult to flag down. When the Order arrived it was incorrect but my friend was too polite to say something. Even if they did, we didn't want to have to wait an extended period of time for a new dish. No where online or beforehand was it told to us that there was going to be a live band performance. Very nice ambiance and vibe but this place is so shady. I've been here 8 times and have had issues with my card 3 different times. The first time, I had several fraud charges the following day with attempted purchases all over. This was a brand new card. On two other occasions, my card was ran twice for the same bill. When I told my friends about it they said they've had similar experiences there. It's sad because I love this place but they must have some criminals working there. read more

This place used to be great, but it's gone seriously downhill. My recent visit was a letdown across the board. The quality is nowhere near what it used to be, and the prices are completely out of line with what they're serving. I ordered a steak, and it was a joke, overcooked, paper-thin, and flavorless. It honestly felt like something you'd pick up from a dollar store freezer. For the price they're charging, it's borderline insulting. To top it off, the atmosphere was chaotic. A guy was sitting next to us with a dog, which was fine, but then another person walked in with two dogs and nearly strolled into the kitchen. It felt like no one was running the place. The meat is pretty sorry, the queso fundido was the only thing was pretty good. Ordered the guacamole and it was fine but you only get two chips with it. The portions are small, the food is subpar, and the overall experience is just sloppy. Save your money this place isn't what it used to be. And maybe it was just an off day, I was just really disappointed because the first time I went it was a completely different experience but that was over a year ago. I've been a loyal Tuesday night customer at Cuishe in San Antonio for months, specifically because of their advertised half-off taco special. I would place my takeout order weekly, and the process was always smooth with a particular staff member who knew my order. Unfortunately, my last visit was deeply disappointing. When I went to pick up my usual Tuesday takeout order, I was informed that the half-off taco special only applies to dine-in customers - despite this distinction being nowhere on their menu or promotional materials. The menu clearly states "half off tacos" with no qualifiers about dine-in only. To make matters worse, the staff member who had been handling my orders for months is no longer there, and the new staff seemed completely unsympathetic to the fact that I've been a regular customer who has been getting this deal for takeout all along. It feels like a bait-and-switch tactic to advertise a special without clearly stating the limitations. I specifically chose Cuishe for my weekly taco night because of this deal, and now feel misled. If there are restrictions on promotions, they should be clearly stated on all materials. I was pressed for time tonight and took a gamble to eat @cuishe_cocina Stone Oak. Don't get me wrong, I've eaten there a few times and have enjoyed it. However, Dad is not a fan of Mexican food, that's why it was a gamble. I'm happy to report that for our Daddy-Daughter dinner, Dad enjoyed the dishes I selected. He tried the complimentary soup which had a slight kick. He had the Naranjada/orange agua fresca and I had the Pacifico draft beer on happy hour. Happy hour ends at 7pm. We shared the Sopa de Fideo, Cazuelas/Rajas Poblanas (on happy hour) and dessert called Bizcocho de Nuez. The dessert was actually more like an ice cream cake with a Pecan cookie crust and topped with fresh mangoes and cajeta. I had originally intended to order the Chile en Nogada but was pretty full already. We'll have to try another time. In previous visits, I've had the pulpo/octopus but knew Dad would have difficulty chewing it with his dentures. Juan Carlos stopped by to ask us about our experience and it was a great one! Great spot for some Mexican food! I've been here several times and each time I've ordered something different. I've also shared dishes with friends and family so I've had a good go around at their menu. Their food has some great flavors! Pretty authentic! Portions could be better at times, specially for the amount that you pay, but I get it you're paying for the ambience. Drinks are usually pretty spot on. Great double date night spot. Enjoyed the eclectic drink menu to set the tone. Several tequila mixers are what we partook in! Chips and salsa were the perfect starter. It came with guacamole and 3 salsas - medium, hot and really hot. All had a more intense level id peppers to drive up the scoville scale. I really liked the hottest salsa and it definitely tingled the tastebuds. For dinner we got the taco platter which came with 12 wagyu steak tacos. The wagyu was cooked perfectly and was so tender and flavorful. Toss some guac and that top level hot sauce on em and it was the perfect taco. We got some street corn too that had bone marrow mixed in. Delicious for sure and the sneaky addition of the marrow was perfect! Later in the evening, a live band came on stage for some entertainment. The overall restaurant space felt small for a live band and speaker system, but it wasn't overwhelming.
