A few months ago I was driving through Lodi with a few others. They were hollering that they were hungry and wanted to stop for breakfast. But they insisted on no chain restaurants or fast food. So we googled and found Avenue Grill. So glad we dined here. The food was traditional classic American fare served up by the nicest staff (which was ethnically diverse). The vibe is welcoming. I noticed that the staff knew a lot of the regular folks (also ethnically diverse) by name. They serve up breakfast and lunch. They are known for their signature giant flapjack. $5.99. But none of us ordered. Next time for sure. Anyways, I got with eggs and bacon breakfast. Simple and prepared right. Luved it. Prices weren't bad. The menu options were plentiful. The place is on the smallish side. They have tables and a counter. When the dining room is full, it's cozy cramped. The noise level can get loud.

The blueberry pancake is a favorite and I love their coffee. The wait staff are very friendly, I never feel rushed and the environment is diner cute. They have an outside patio that has plenty of gas lamps if you get cold. Their on letters are also amazing. Great place to catch an early breakfast, hangout with friends or have some quiet early morning time.

A very nice place to enjoy a meal, especially with the outside patio area available. The food came out quickly and was delicious. All of the staff is super friendly and attentive, and our server was a delight. Definitely will be coming back!

Are you a diner soul? If you can rattle off the difference between a cafe, diner, and coffee shop, you might be. Avenue Grill is a bonafide diner, and if that's your jam, and you're traveling 99 or located in NorCal, get here! My dad and I eat there at least be a month and travel from Sac and Elk Grove. Expect normal favorites for the genre, as well as a few unexpected specialties unique to Avenue Grill. The decor inside is as if Cheers was actually a roadside diner. Yeah, you're definitely having breakfast in 1986. It's fantastic! The patio out back is very pleasant in spring and fall, and if it's not bitterly cold, the giant heaters keep you nice and warm. Summertime it's getting kinda warm by lunch. The vibe outside is remarkably different than inside; it's Sierra Nevada mom and pop roadside logging country restaurant. It's nice because the service is just as good as inside, and if chatting is a priority, the patio is much quieter than inside. The service is great either way, and they'll happily customize your food, and it comes *the way you ordered it. All the servers are strong, but Stacie is a blast--she's a joke teller, and they're great jokes! No prudes tho, some of these jokes are whispered! This time I tried the Veggie Potato Platter, in lieu of my go-to omelette because seeing those giant plate of cheesy perfect crusted fried potatoes and melty cheese has been giving me a world class case of FOMO. It was great, but not gonna lie, I wasn't hungry again until dinner. It's a lot, but I just couldn't quit eating it, so good. I've also had the Linguica and eggs, and I thought the linguica was quite good. My dad got his favorite, Huevos Rancheros, and had very nice things to say about the dish. It's a Wednesday(?) special, I believe. Lunch foods are also above par imho. You pay and tip right there at the table with the waitress waiting, so don't forget to tip. You'll want to anyway. Great spot, really. If you're hungry for diner food, and want to feel like a regular, even on your first visit, this is the place!

Lunch this time around - said to sit wherever we like. It's crowded inside with the tables really packed in. Some sat outside. Have to fight the flies to get to tables but seating outside feels less squished in. Took our order right away. Fish and chips and lil burger (1/4 lb burger) on sourdough with bacon and cheese. Chili cheese fries. Everything was so good! Burger cooked to perfection and it was really good on sourdough bacon crispy NOT burnt! Chili cheese were steaming! Chili tasted homemade not canned and not sweet. It was very good.

The food is wonderful, large portions, very flavorful. Very nice staff a great experience. Dinning outside is covered and warm allowing your fur baby to enjoy the experience also.

Day 2 Stop 1 "Where do all the locals go?" Preface- We are weekend tripping in Lodi and where to dine was always a question. We found this place and what a great choice it was. They were 90% occupied and fortunately, there was a table for us. Knowing our day is filled with winetasting, we agreed to get a hearty breakfast to start. Naturally and in addition to our coffee and breakfast, we order their Mimosa by the bottle with orange juice... Just to set the mood... Country style biscuits and gravy, basic bacon and eggs and a burger dawned our table. I had to try their hotcakes. Not that I'm an hotcake aficionado but their hotcakes were GOOD. Great way to start the day!

Avenue grill is a great little diner in Lodi for breakfast. The chicken fried steak is amazing and the omelets are really good! It can get crowded quick especially on the weekends so you might have to wait for a table but they also have an outdoor dog friendly patio!

If you're on the hunt for one of the best breakfast spots around, Avenue Grill should be at the top of your list. This place consistently serves up hearty, satisfying dishes that hit all the right notes--especially if you're a fan of classic American breakfasts with a twist. Let's start with the Potato Platter, which honestly might be one of the most crave-worthy breakfast plates you'll find anywhere. It's a generous helping of crispy country-style potatoes mixed with grilled ham, smoky bacon, bell peppers, and onions--all topped off with a layer of melted cheese. It's everything you want in a breakfast dish: savory, cheesy, filling, and just enough crisp on the potatoes to keep you coming back. Another standout is the Chicken Fried Chicken--perfectly fried, juicy, and paired with a savory country gravy that brings the whole thing together. It's comfort food done right, and they clearly know what they're doing with their gravy here. Surprisingly, even the Carnitas Quesadilla holds its own. Now, I wouldn't normally order a quesadilla at a breakfast place like this, but I've tried it, and it's genuinely good--tender carnitas with just the right amount of seasoning and gooey cheese in every bite. If you're in the mood to mix things up, it won't disappoint. The Poorman's Benedict is another favorite--it's a creative and delicious take on the traditional benedict. A fluffy biscuit and rich gravy serve as the base, stuffed with a sausage patty, a perfectly cooked egg, and a handful of those signature country-style potatoes. It's messy in the best way possible and absolutely delicious. They also serve some of the best pancakes I've had--thick, fluffy, and golden. The only knock? They serve them with syrup that contains corn syrup rather than real maple syrup. It's a small letdown in an otherwise great dish, and I really wish they'd offer a pure maple option. The coffee is solid too--bold, hot, and just what you need to round out a great breakfast. It's nothing fancy or artisanal, but it's good, and it keeps coming, which is all I ask for in a breakfast joint. Be warned: weekends get busy. It's a local favorite, and word has definitely gotten out, so expect a bit of a wait. That said, the staff is efficient and the kitchen moves fast, so even when it's packed, things turn over quickly. Overall, Avenue Grill delivers on every level when it comes to breakfast--huge portions, tons of flavor, and a menu that offers comfort food classics with enough variety to keep it interesting. Just come hungry and bring your own maple syrup.

The Avenue grill is a legendary breakfast spot in this community. It's not unusual to wait for a table but it's worth the time. We had the all meat omelette; delicious ham, sausage and bacon paired with onions and peppers. The sides include country potatoes and amazing buttery toast. We also sampled the chicken fried steak; cooked perfectly. The wait staff is friendly and attentive. The establishment is clean and decorated with a country vibe. I will definitely return.

Bad: Their "Kobe" burger was $29 or so and was a good portion size. The problem? Lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. The beef was flavorless. The stroganoff was a good portion size but again it was severely lacking in the seasoning department. Good: Those who ordered the corn soup and the porcini mushroom ravioli enjoyed them. They especially enjoyed the sauce from the ravioli. The desserts overall were enjoyed by the table. The sticky toffee pudding, while not as rich as we are used to, was still relatively good; soft and moist enough. The dark chocolate oblong with mango passion fruit was enjoyed by everyone too. The interior remains unchanged; like a classy London gastropub. Service: communication is key. Where they dropped the ball was that we mentioned on the reservation that we were there for Father's Day and prime rib, which they do on Sundays. As you walk in you even see the sign for the prime rib special. We sat down and the server mentioned that there was no prime rib this weekend. I had even chatted with them on the reservation app and they made no mention of this. We could have gone somewhere else had we known in advanced. Our server was relatively nice too.

It's contemporary and the furnishings are quite comfortable. It's the type of place you can settle in and have a casual meal without feeling rushed. Prices are high yet the quality is excellent. For the first evening at the bar we settled into a high top table. You can sit at the bar, lounge type seating or outdoors on a pleasantly shaded patio. They had an expanded bar bites menu as the main restaurant is closed on Wednesdays... most of it quite enticing. We opted for cocktails to start and I chose a specialty Date Maple Old Fashioned. It was really good with a large ice ball to chill it. For bar bites we shared the pork belly sandwiches (small, delicious but messy to eat), the sausage skewers (amazing!) and crab cups (refreshingly light and easy to eat). After cocktails we had glasses of a light white wine, made with Santorini Greek grapes. For the next meal in the dining room the place was a buzz with activity but conversation was easy without a lot of excessive noise. It's intimate and the room is quite pleasant for a gourmet meal. We started with cocktails (same Old Fashioned) and shared the grilled Brussels Sprouts which were plentiful and ever so delicious. They were slightly over grilled for my taste yet it didn't distract from me enjoying them. We got bread which was a baguette with butter and the consistency perfect for a French style loaf. For my entree I debated between the scallops and the pork chop and went with the chop. I was quite pleased as the chop came in thick slices and drizzled with a tarragon mustard reduction sauce. It was amazing, tender, juicy and at 22oz I couldn't finish it all. It came with a tasty apple sauce and grilled seared cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Ed, celebrating a birthday, had steak which came with a huge bowl of mashed potatoes which I tasted. Oh my gosh, the creamiest potatoes ever! For dessert we shared the cheese plate, a really great way to end the meal, with glasses of a twany port. All of the cheeses from a brie to a hard cheese were top quality. Service both times was very attentive, professional yet personable. We were well cared for and everything went smoothly. It's expensive yet the experience and value is worth visiting. My Neice ordered a salad and it seemed just ok , she liked it , not super crisp. She also ordered fries , they were good . Over all our experience was just ok , it must be a status thing when you say you went to the Americana House , it was just ok and at 125.00 per person we expected higher quality. The horseradish was outstanding. The ambience was a great experience, not sure I would recommend here , the quality does not match the price . Desert was good , coffee was good

It was our first time visiting from the Bay Area, and it was truly a memorable experience. We ordered the chicken wings and calamari, plus two drinks. Our bartender recommended the Freak Show Cabernet, and it was delicious. I appreciated how attentive the team was: when I accidentally knocked over my drink, the staff quickly and graciously helped clean up, along with a few flowers I bumped in the process. I apologize for the clumsiness on my part. The chef also came out to greet us, which was a wonderful personal touch. Overall, we had an incredible time. If you're looking for great food and warm hospitality, I highly recommend The Exchange. I'll definitely be telling everyone on social media to stop by for a wonderful experience.

We sat inside, where the space features exposed brick, artwork throughout, and very comfortable seating... my partner specifically pointed that out. The layout includes a mix of seating areas, which gives it a more relaxed, layered feel. The bar area, known as the Ghost Lounge, adds a darker, more lounge-like element to the overall atmosphere. Service was excellent. Our server, Lacy, was friendly, attentive, and witty - easily one of the best servers we've had in a while. For drinks, I had a local Oak Farm red wine that was excellent. Others in our group had mimosas, which were well received... especially the grapefruit mimosa, which my partner really enjoyed. For food, there were several highlights. My partner had the chicken and waffles and loved it; I tried some and would agree it was very good. Another person in our group ordered the steak breakfast tacos, which came as a set of three. They only ate two, and I had the third and it was delicious and something I would recommend. Another in our group had the eggs Benedict and thought it was excellent. I had the biscuits and gravy with fried eggs. It was okay, but not something I would go out of my way to order again. In terms of value, prices felt consistent with the quality of the food, service, and overall setting. It's not a budget brunch spot, but it feels appropriate for the experience. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Easter brunch with great service, a comfortable and well-designed interior, and several strong menu items. I'd rate it a 4 out of 5, though if half-points were an option, this would land closer to a 4.5. We'd definitely come back.
