We have long been growers for Michael David Winery, until this past year, and have always touted their cafe. The quaint ambiance offered in the bricked room with fireplace, transforms one to another world. The food is satisfyingly upscale and the service is right on. One cannot resist the Tritip Asparagus sandwiches in spring, lemon ricotta pancakes for breakfast, and best of all, their freshly baked fruit pies!! This is a cute little cafe. Never new this place existed until a friend/fellow yelper told me about it. I drove the 40 mins from home to meet her for brunch her and I was not disappointed. I had the chicken fried chicken and it was good. I got the gravy on the side as you (if you read/fellow me) I'm a gravy snob. Welp this place passed. The service was decent. Enjoyed a nice Sunday Lunch! I've always heard great things about this place and I was not disappointed. We came after the lunch rush, so we were seated right away. Service was great, we got our food fairly quickly. We ordered the chicken club, garlic fries, and half tri tip sandwich with a cup of clam chowder. The sandwich was good but it had a lot of mayo dripping on the sides. My favorite was the potato salad, I'm a sucker for dill. Clam chowder was also really good, creamy, and big chunks of red potato which I enjoyed. I would definitely come back and try their breakfast. read more

My friends and I were looking for a breakfast spot and have heard good things about Michael David's cafe. We were seated right away on a Sunday at 11am. Tables were full, but service was really quick! Pretty nice setting, away from the wine tasting festivities on the other side of the winery. Felt like a homey diner. I ordered a breakfast burrito with chorizo, my friends ordered chicken fried chicken and Chilaquiles, and we got French toast to share. My breakfast burrito did not disappoint. It was really flavorful and the salsa on the side was a good addition to each bite. I did try my friends' choices. The chicken fried chicken was a little lackluster in flavor and the Chilaquiles was on the saucy side. They were OK, but if I were to come back, I would stick with the breakfast burrito. Michael's is a fave in any season. I had a chile verde omelette. It was a bit heavy on the tomatillos possibly... the balance of the green chiles can be perfected. Always consistently delicious food, accommodating staff, and cute friendly and casual atmosphere. Went for breakfast this last Sunday. We hadn't been in a while because if you're not in there before 9am on Sunday, you'll find the wait gets longer. We were lucky when we got there at 930, that a party of 2 just left. There were a few new menu items since we'd been there. I ordered the delicious Chorizo Benedict. hubby got the stuffed French toast and asked for Blueberry reduction/compote instead and loved it. Date: 07/21/2024 Party of 2 We've visited The Farm Café quite a few times beginning 2018 and always loved their Lemon Ricotta Pancakes (if available on special menu. I apologize in advance for not having to complete my review back on July 21, 2024. I still remember it like it was yesterday though. Friendly staff- were immediately seated as soon as we arrived. Given that the lemon ricotta pancakes weren't on the menu, I decided to order a short stack instead which consists of two pancakes. I have been here a few times and finally getting around to saying how great it is. They do tend to have longer wait times, for a group of 6 at 10am we waited 30 minutes, it gets much more busier after 10am so try arriving early. The restaurant itself feels very homey and cozy. I got the ultimate breakfast with French toast and it was incredible. The flavor in everything was wonderful. Their menu has traditional items along with specials, such as Dubai French Toast which would be my next try. They have a great variety of mimosa flavors and a delicious michelada. Went in for breakfast. We went to the podium to check in and were sat right away. It's not a big space but they have plenty of tables. I decided to order the chicken and waffles. The waffle has bacon cooked in it which was tasteful. The boneless chicken was perfectly crunchy covered in gravy. It was a great combination. The veggie omelette plate came with country potatoes, choice of bread and fruit. Added the avocado. Overall good service. They serve breakfast and lunch through out the week. They just don't care The food tastes prepackaged and uninspiring. It's obviously served without love. Good luck finding a server when you need one. My burger wrap was a dry patty on top of a few uncooked greens with salad dressing sauce on the side. My grandmother's Philly was served dry. The wait staff non existent and unhelpful. They were eating their own lunch instead of checking with us. With so many amazing places to pick for lunch in Lodi, we certainly won't be back. read more

Day 3 Stop 1 In anticipation of our wine tasting we went early as we did not want to have to wait in line... They do get busy as the morning hours tick on. Fortunately for us, there was no line and we were seated right away. For seating, you can seat inside the cafe or get a patio table, both of which are comfortable and pleasant. We were presented with the menus and offered coffee or other beverages upon seating. Within a decent amount of time our server returned to take our order (I was impressed that we were not rushed...) and refill our beverages. What once was our favorite breakfast place in Lodi, but no longer.. For Father's Day 2025, we hoped to start the day with delicious breakfasts and fantastic service. Unfortunately, we had a deeply disappointing one at Michael David Winery's breakfast cafe instead. As they do not take reservations, we made sure to be there 15 mins before they opened the doors. Good timing too, as we were the 2nd party of a growing line. This is where the first issue occurred.. When taking our names to be seated, the host ignored us, seating the party who arrived after we did. No smiles, no greetings; just an unenthusiastic question of "how many?". I mentioned to her that we had arrived first, but she seemed very unconcerned, brushing away the info. Not the best way to start our experience.. Looking back at it, I believe this is moment where our morning was sent downhill. Service used to be so much better here. Several of our orders were either completely forgotten, incorrect or arrived cold; leaving us waiting far too long for our food. Tables who were seated after us got their food 10min before we did, even though we placed our orders in first!! Our server was friendly, attentive with coffee refills and attempted to fix our orders, but the staff overall, seemed a bit disorganized and indifferent, which ruined what could have been a lovely morning. From prior breakfast experiences her, I expected so much better. We used to look forward to enjoying delicious food, amazing service, a couple bottles of wine and homemade jam to go. I have been to Michael David on many occasions, but always for events or tastings, so when a friend wanted stop here for lunch I was happy to oblige. The grounds here are nice and the location is convenient if you are on HWY 12. There is also plenty of parking. The Farm Cafe has a rustic feel and felt a bit cramped. It was also quite loud and warm. The selection was basic and the food and service were mediocre. It was not a terrible lunch, I think I just expected a higher level of quality from my previous experiences here. I'm not sure if I would return for the cafe alone. read more

Was visiting a local friend and he wanted to try something new for our weekend brunch activities. He suggested we try The Farm Cafe at Michael-David Winery as their restaurant reviews were pretty high. We got there around noon; just missing breakfast cut off time by a hour, and waited about 15 minutes to be seated. It's a small dining area inside the Michael-David Winery gift shop and every table was packed with people. I ordered the spicy crispy chicken sandwich with potato salad for my side, whereas my friend ordered the poutine burger with French fries for his side. My spicy crispy chicken sandwich was a great cut of meat, hand breaded and had a little kick to it; be warned though it's rather messy as it's dripping with hot sauce. The potato salad was a nice pairing with the spicy crispy chicken sandwich and made sure the heat didn't get too much. We both got iced teas and the waitress ensured they were always filled up. Both my friend and I really enjoyed our meal and service, so will be back to try more of the menu items for sure! read more

Been here several times never disappoints, for lunch today the pozole soup and chicken tortilla soup were both outstanding with generous big pieces of pork in the pozole. Wife loved the tri-tip sando and the asada and the carnitas street tacos I had were very generously portioned, moist and delicious with an avocado pico de Gallo and a salsa on the side, served with rice and beans on Taco Tuesday for only $10! For dessert I had slice of in house made mixed berry pie and black coffee, both very good. We're gonna be back again next time in town! read more

My aunt ordered the chicken tortilla soup, they said they had it ready but it took forever to come out, way after the rest of our food. She went to check on it and they brought it out and said "sorry, we had to heat it up." Isn't that one of your signature items? So it's obviously not fresh.. I got the huevos rancheros and I got halfway through and realized there was something really off about it, like a dirty sock taste, it was gross. I've had that dish before and it was way better. My husband and I have driven by this place many times, and we finally decided to see what all the hype was about. We went in on a Sunday around 11 AM, and to our delight, there was no wait time and ample seating, despite some family members telling us that the place gets very busy. Upon being seated, we were given menus by the hostess and told a waitress would be with us shortly. Unfortunately, that was not the case; we sat at our table for about 15 minutes before a waitress finally came to us. She took our food and drink orders at the same time, which we found a bit odd. My husband ordered the corned beef hash, while I opted for the biscuits and gravy, accompanied by the white wine Freakshow sangria. Our food arrived approximately 15 minutes later, but we both found our dishes to be disappointing. I thought the gravy was overly salty and not very impressive, and my husband felt the same about the corned beef hash. Since we didn't enjoy the food, we were ready to leave quickly, but the waitress seemed to disappear and never returned to refill our water or check if we needed anything. Overall, I expected better from this place. There are many other better breakfast and brunch options in Lodi. I suggest skipping this one. The restaurant does have a cute, homey feel, but that's the only positive aspect. read more

Came to enjoy a mimosa and brunch with my sister while visiting my hometown. We got seated pretty quickly on the outside patio. sometimes we've had to wait up to 30 minutes as the restaurant does get pretty busy on the weekends. We both ordered the farm breakfast with potatoes and mimosas. Our food came to us pretty quickly but it did take a while for our server to come collect our orders. The bacon was perfect and not too crispy. The potatoes come with bell pepper and onions. Usually the bread comes on a separate plate but this time it was piled all on one plate. My one complaint was that when we asked for extra napkins we were only given two napkins. The outside area wasn't super noisy and it was a prefect day to sit outside and enjoy our food. Breakfast here is superb! Walked through the main entrance of the winery and the restaurant is to the left, giving farm to table vibes. We opted for outdoor patio seating and it's fully shaded from the sun. They offer an additional specialty menu with seasonal entrees. Atmosphere is pretty laid back and the servers walked around with warm smiles and provided good service. As a table we shared steak and eggs, a side of bacon (comes with 3 pieces), chicken fried chicken, and citrusy zucchini french toast. Ingredients were fresh and everything was visually pleasing. Fried chicken was not a grounded up patty, but instead a tender whole piece of meat. Gravy was not too salty and amazing on top. Steak and eggs were cooked perfectly to our liking. The jam for the toast tasted restaurant made and very delicious. The zucchini french toasts were super moist and a great different experience. Love this place! I have never had a meal here that was less than perfect. My favorites are the Chipotle Salmon Caesar Salad and the tri-tip sandwich. I also enjoyed a nice chili mango mimosa with my lunch this time. Very good! And of course, one should not leave here without picking up something from the bakery.
