The best breakfast in Lodi. My favorite is the breakfast quesadilla. You can't leave here hungry. The staff are very nice.

Food is OK , but diner is small lots of people talking for a small place, really high priced for what you get, plan on paying around 9 or 10 dollars for a breakfast, had better in Valley Springs at Campbell Country Kitchen and lower prices. will not go back was so disappointed. I've been a regular at Avenue Grill for a dozen years, The owner, Mike Metcalf was always there working the grill and managing the customer service, which was first rate, along with the food. But things change. Mike just retired and sold the business. Today, a Saturday, there was no visible new management on premises, and there was no sense of "magic" and "family" in the room. I have always liked going to this place, They have great burgers and good breakfast. I always see locals here which is nice. Only on one occasion was I disappointed and almost never came back to this place. About two years ago I took the kids and wife here for breakfast and the place was packed so we went outside to eat on the patio. There were 2 elderly women sitting next to us who then decided to light up cigarettes and they were no more than 10' from us with my 2 young kids. The owner came out and gave them an ash tray. Im really torn about how to review them. For YEARS I have been coming to the Avenue grill and always loved it. The last few times have really been down hill. A part of me says I wont go back the other says keep trying? One more chance I guess before I stop going. The service is always good, the food for me is what is going down hill. I feel like its lost its freshness and flavor and has become much greasier and cheap in quality. My other complaint is the inside is small cramped and noisy, so I always choose to sit outside in the canopy portion in the back (heaters there for chilly days make it perfect). The last two times I have gone, in the middle of my meal someone starts to smoke. Its not well ventilated; its out doors but well covered for wind and weather purposes. THIS IS AN ISSUE! ***OWNERS please stop allowing smoking in the back! I shouldn't have to get up in the middle of my meal due to disgust. Also when there are babies/children present it still isn't stopped and its just not fair. I should be able sit outside and enjoy my meal with out dealing with this. My husband and I discovered this place about a year ago and we always have breakfast there at least 2 times a week. Everyone is so welcoming and friendly quick service. The food is always on-point, especially the biscuits and gravy. We also love the burgers, onion rings, and carnitas breakfast quesadilla. Went for first time on Sunday morning about 10:30. Packed, mostly locals. Waitstaff seems to know all the locals. Obviously a dedicated fan base. Took awhile, about 30 minutes to get food. It's a bit more expensive than Bob's at the Marina in Stockton, but food is of similar quality, which is very good. Liked the country potatoes a lot!! Very agreeable staff. read more

I've literally been coming here for 22 years. My dad used to bring me and we would meet my mom when she was on patrol.. And we never stopped returning. We go every weekend to this day and a few days in between as well. Mike is a great guy and has great customer service and a great homely staff. The potato platter (extra crunchy for me!) is my favorite along with the French toast, GIANT chocolate chip pancake, and the mushroom bacon omelette! My dad gets a chorizo scramble every time he goes.. If not he gets potato platter or French toast. The breakfast quesadilla is out of this world too (add bacon!). You can't go wrong here.. But make sure you get there early enough as it gets crowded because it's so wonderful! Best breakfast spot in Lodi.. What is there to say about Avenue grill.... the food is f%#@*ing amazing and the service is top notch.. I always go with the potato platter with 2 eggs and toast and I always leave feeling like I need to be wheeled out in a wheel chair.. just an amazingly cooked plate of breakfast goodness with my cup of coffee that never seems to be empty... with the quality of the food of course I am going to be back but what keeps me coming is the service I receive every time my family and I come in.. the servers are always very attentative of my kids and make sure they always have what they need from the color crayons and paper down to the ice cold glasses of chocolate milk.. they treat them very well even though when my kids eat out it looks like a tornado touched down at the table but the servers are more than willing to clean up the giant mess they make even when I offer to clean it because I feel bad... hit this place up you will not be disapointed read more

The best breakfast in town hands down. When I have friends from out of town, celebrating or just fancy a good meal I have to stop in to get the hometown feel that this place brings! Every dish has something special. You cant go wrong with whatever you order. My go to dishes are, the French toast, BBQ bacon cheese burger with homemade BBQ sauce, Tuna sandwich with buttery toasted bread and homemade tuna, breakfast quesadilla bring a healthy appetite for this one, the potato plater is off the hook and no need to order anything else its hearty. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture, Mike takes his love for people and food seriously so you have to stop in! Keep in mind its a popular spot and tends to get crowded on Sundays. If I could rate them less I would. Their service was absolutely horrendous. We went a family of 4 with 2 little ones. We called ahead (25 minutes before) and they said sure no problem just check in when you get here and you should have a table. Fast forward--we're there, we check in, and the hostess says say ok let us get the table ready it should be 5-10 minutes. No indication of them caring we had called before, and there was no where to sit and wait comfortably inside (nor did they suggest a waiting area. Like ok should I stand in front of the register in people's way?? Well, 15 minutes later we still didn't have a table, AND. They had seated two other parties that got there after with different party sizes. AND still didn't say anything to us. We tried getting attention and all 5 servers that were standing around the bar area completely ignored us. We decided to leave because none of them had approached us to give us an update. When we let them know we were leaving, they simple responded "K thank you". Not even a I'm sorry for the wait or what was the problem? By the way most of the people being seated were Caucasian and we were not---all of the staff was also Caucasian. No diversity whatsoever--so that was telling. If you are a person of color BEWARE. We will make sure to tell people never to come here again. I'd be embarrassed if I was the owner of the place and my staff treated their staff the way they did. Shameful. read more

There are few places that do it right. Food, service, ambiance. This place comes close. The food is great! I usually have the carnitas quesadilla for breakfast. My wife has tried everything else and loves it. Your best bet with service is Jessica! She is awesome! When you frequent a place, it is important to me to be recognized by other servers even though you are not dining in their station. Jessica has always greeted us, wherever we have sat. Came here today with my boyfriend and fell in love with Avenue Grill! I'm small but I love to eat and this place satisfied my "Foodie appetite"! It was fairly busy when we got there, my boyfriend is a little on the impatient side but was really pleased with how the staff constantly checked in with us and how long the wait time would be and our preferences with seating. We didn't wait long and once we were seated our drink orders were taken very quickly, our waitress was awesome( I don't remember her name but I remember her friendly demeanor). I ordered Strawberry French toast with scrambled eggs and bacon, my boyfriend had the All meat omelette with potatoes and gravy. I loved the gravy so much I asked for extra and ate it with the savory portion of my meal. The French toast was delicious it was the right balance of sweet and tangy because of the strawberries, I usually find the sticky sweetness of syrups to be too much but it was balanced out so nicely. My boyfriend enjoyed his meal so much, that we've decided to make this our weekend breakfast spot for when I have the days off. The service was awesome and so was the food. I really suggest you give it a try, you'll fall in love as well. Definitely add the gravy to your potatoes. read more

Love this place! Customer service is always great. Food is great. It is always busy, but they keep up and work hard to accommodate. The servers will keep the doors to the outside open and locked for convenience of serving and it is always cold. You ask for door to be shut and the next server who goes out just locks it open again. Packed full of diced ham, potatoes, onions and a variety of veggies all inside a crisp, flour tortilla. Staff was friendly and welcoming.
