I'm a fan of this new Average Joe's that just opened up close to the Hilliard area. My husband and our neighbor stopped in last night after the Buckeyes game. There were many people who were still around after the game. The music was loud, which was normal, but the crowd was still hopping. I ordered their Southwest Chicken wrap with tortilla chips and it was good. The hubby had the Black & Bleu Burger with fries and said that it was very tasty. We both ate there (no alcohol drinks this time) for less than $20. Not bad!!! We'll definitely be going back again soon!! :) read more

1st visit probably the last definitely was a bad spot but it wasn't the best. I got the fish and chip and my friend got a jalapeño burger which he loved. My food was ok but not seasoned well. We dropped by this spot to pregame (drinking), watch the game, and grab a bite. We sat at the bar and the service was definitely weak. Even seating in front of our server we still had to ask for refills and condiments. What got me out of the mood was the drinks rule. Basically you can't have a drink and shot at the same time. I went to the Hilliard location. My food was great - had a grilled cheese and tomato soup - and the portions were large. I'd have to say I'm a bit prejudiced when it comes to the service here because the waitress is my daughter but I watched the other servers and her with other customers and everyone seemed friendly and helpful. read more

Went for lunch on Wednesday. We got the Ave Joe Pub Burger (not sure the full name) but it is the special of the day on Wednesdays. It is half UNLESS you get cheese and fries then it is a dollar off. Kind of weird because it normally comes with cheese and fries. Service was pretty good, they had one girl waiting on the whole place but she kept up pretty well. She did not refill our drinks though and the food was a little long coming out of the kitchen. Food tasted pretty good however burger was a little dry. I was not asked how I wanted my burger cooked so not sure if anything other than well done was an option. Had to go back to work so couldn't partake of the brews but selection was good. I had one great experience and one pretty mediocre one. First one, Thursday ($1 mini burgers) was great! Awesome server, not too busy, I was pleased by their large beer selection. Food was awesome! Second, a Saturday, the server was awful, and the food disgusting. Steer clear of the fries with chili on them. It was a soggy, awful mess. Beers still good and cold. But waitress was terrible, gone forever, kept telling us how poorly run the restaurant was. When we were less than pleased with the food she told us she had seen it before and thought it looked "pretty bad." I was very unimpressed with her level of professionalism. One of my fav. evening spots for a quick and casual dinner. Our service has always been friendly, although sometimes a bit slow...but it's worth it. Average Joes is like a nicer more upscale version of bw3's -- except the prices are the same ! So if you normally go to bdubs , try Joes. I enjoy their boneless wings (mild) or the buffalo chicken wrap. I have not found another place in Columbus who has better buffalo sauce . Also they have funnel cake fries! read more

The most unfriendly bartender I've run into in a long time, my first time here, I'm working out of town from Chicago. I look forward to visiting different bars when out of town, she's made me feel very uncomfortable, I have no idea why. I've been looking forward to visiting this place since I've been working directly across the street. I finally get the opportunity and to be treated rudely for just walking in, I don't get it. It takes forever to get the server to take your order. We had to keep going up to our server to have drink orders completed and food. The place wasn't even busy. The drinks were awful. In the improper glasses and too much ice. I definitely don't recommend it. read more

My first single-star review! I go to restaurants at least a couple times a week. I've been wanting to go to Average Joe's and I finally did. That's 90 minutes I'l never ever get back!! I truly believe the cook doesn't know what he/she are doing. I sent my burger back twice and twice it wasn't even close to being cooked correctly. Not only did the server not show the least bit of concern, he actually made it clear she was being put out by my concerns. I am not a hard to please person but this was ridiculous! A few of my friends and I came here to watch the World Cup soccer game. The place was perfect for watching the game, but unfortunately the service was awful. Our server came over immediately after we sat down and took our drink order. She was terse and impatient, and her facial expressions weren't exactly pleasant. Once we got our drinks, we were ready to order, but she walked away and did not come back to take our food order for another 20 minutes. The food itself took over 90 minutes to arrive. She did not stop back to the table to check on us or to give us an update on where the heck our food was. And frankly, I'm not sure why three small plates of food took so long. It seemed like everyone was waiting and I saw one guy get upset. When she came out with the food I realized that she had forgot about my order completely. She had to go back to the kitchen to put in the order, and that took another 10 minutes. All she said when she came back was "I hope it tastes good." Um.... So do I? By the time we all got our food the game was almost over. Don't get me wrong, the food tasted fine, but it would have been much more enjoyable to get it sooner. She got a tip, because we are still decent people, but I would strongly advise against watching a big game here and expecting to get a meal, too. Maybe they have staffing issues, but they should have realized it would be a busy lunch with the World Cup going on. read more

I stopped in last night and had the turf and bird (three sliders and 6 wings). Both were very good. Some of the best wings I've had at a restaurant (try the garlic wings, they're great). I prefer my wings to be flavorful and these delivered. My GF really liked her coldcut sandwich too. The place reminded me a bit of Buffalo Wild Wings. Only not as loud, the service was way better, the food was better, and the value was better. I definitely plan to go to Average Joe's again. read more

True to it's name, just average. My husband had a good burger. I had a good Italian sub. The fries left a lot to be desired but it was the deal of the day. They have outdoor eating but beware it's all smoking. Inside is no smoking of course but is so loud with sometimes heavy metal music and sports channels that if you went to have friendly conversation don't expect to do it without some shouting or leaning over the table. There is a pool table, a lot of tv's, plenty on tap and some other arcades. Food was good. A nice time. I just didn't like that all the outdoor eating was a smoking area. Thankfully nobody had lit up while we were eating until the very end when we were leaving. There is a juke box inside which blasts the music selected to the whole restaurant and outside whether you like it or not. So that brought during our dining experience - country music, scream o, Tom Petty, and Katy Perry? Very random. read more

Maryann was a great waitress. She was on top of making sure we were getting what we needed and wanted. She was really nice and sociable. Here is my review: I rarely go in because it is noisy and cold and you can not hear any sports that are playing. No sound boxes like Buffalo Wild Wings have. I also don't feel very welcome. I don't know why. I was there recently and said that I was thinking of having another beer but I was too cold. The response was not "oh, we want you to stay!" or "I will check the temperature" but the response was a giggle/half smile. read more

I've been coming to this Average Joes since it opened practically. Spent many evenings and nights here with friends. The past 6 months to a year this place has really gone down hill. Don't get me wrong, the food is still the same and ok, not earth shattering. But the service has become a joke. For one, wait the tables instead of hanging out at the bar dancing to music. Many times I've been waiting on someone to serve me and the waitresses are just standing around the bar. To add, update your beer list. It can't be that hard. I always enjoyed the different taps but lately it's hard to determine what I want because the list isn't up to date and the bartenders are clueless. I originally gave this place a 4 stars but I rescind that review by experience with wait staff and food. I ordered a Southwest Chicken wrap with Honey wheat Tortilla and tortilla chips (7.99) and my partner ordered the Club sandwich on wheat ($8ish?). The Club was dry as I got a quarter of the sandwich. They cut it into fours so it appears as a nice portion size. The toasted crust was burnt and the sandwich had been sitting for a few minutes before it was brought out to us. I was not impressed with the cheese used on the club as well the pale tomatoes. They didn't bring any mayo or sauce even though it says it is on the side. The Mayo is just your fast food packet type which we received after we asked a 2nd server (1st one seemed to get distracted) for a packet The Wrap also had been sitting under the "warmer" for a a little too long as it was only lukewarm. The cheese had congealed, but the taste overall was pretty good especially dipped into the southwest sauce. I guess I need to try the wings or pizza to see some improvement. Service was polite just not worried about getting hot food to their customer or making sure everything was received. We did go at 1 pm on Sunday for the Browns game, so that could be some of the reason but there were a few tables still open. The place did serve well for what i wanted-a place to watch the Browns when the Bengals are on 10TV. Sidenote: Who chooses to have a Baby Shower at Average Joe's on a Football Sunday afternoon? Nice bar for sports lots of good TV's. Food is typical bar fare but I think most of it is very good. Pizza, wings, burger, quesadillas, and cheesesteak are all good. My co workers and I come here every Friday after work to release some stress. I feel the name, "average joes" completely compliments what you get. We went tonight 04/22/16 and I ordered three beers off the bar menu and they were "out of them". This isn't the first time this happened. If you're going to advertise that you have something available, have it available. I ordered Oberon, Yuengling light, and something called a dark horse scary Jesus. Out of those three.... Among others that my party tried to order. Service is dismal at best. We waiting a good ten minutes before any server got to us. They weren't busy. Food is well...Average. I kinda surprised this place is still open because there has to be better bars in hilliard, then this place. Update: so I went back to average joes after a month of not going and the service was a little better and the beer menu was updated. I was fine until I got the bill. I was nailed a gratuity charge of 9 bucks tonight and I asked her what that was about and my server said that was because of large parties. Average Joe's has a good selection of beers ( including craft selections to match the season!) at very reasonable happy hour prices that go until 7 pm which is later than most! The food is true to it's, namesake, average; which is not a bad thing. What you read in the menu is what you get. I recommend planning ahead and going on a night with a food special you'll enjoy, burgers and chips for $5 on Wednesday! Otherwise, the menu offers a lot of variety, order a few appetizers to share or the club Sammy with cheese. read more
