The journey to find a safe, supportive place for my mother--somewhere she could live independently…read morewith a bit of assistance--was overwhelming. I dreaded encountering the senior‑living equivalent of an old‑school car dealership, and the anxiety was real. Then I met Denise R. She listened to my family's needs with genuine care and reached out to introduce herself and Magnolia Grand within 24 hours. That alone set her apart. I feel compelled to share our experience because of the tremendous impact she had on our peace of mind. Denise is an exceptional listener and a woman of action. She is compassionate, patient, and kind--qualities I needed more than I realized. She is also deeply knowledgeable, and every piece of information she provided was accurate and helpful. Her professionalism and passion for her work are unmistakable. During our visit, I noticed how residents reacted when they saw her in the hallway. One resident gently patted her shoulder with such warmth and respect that it stopped me in my tracks. It was clear she is valued by the people who live there. That moment meant a great deal to me as we considered entrusting my mother to her community's care. Denise and the team at Magnolia Grand made a frightening process feel manageable, even hopeful. For that, my family and I are truly grateful.

It's been 4 years since losing my mom to Alzheimer's. My mom was at Oak Park for just a little…read moreunder a year. In hindsight I'm glad that my family and I made the difficult decision to place her when we did and before she was in the later stages of ALZ. i will be eternally grateful to Oak Park Manor and their staff. It takes a special kind of person to do that for a living, day in and day out. The atmosphere at Oak Park is very much like a home setting making the transition easier for both the patient and the family members of the patient. Toward the end stages of the disease my mom was wearing other patients clothes, needed assistance with using the restroom which meant she sometimes soiled herself. She eventually stopped eating and speaking. Not because of anything Oak Park did or didnt do, it was due to the progression of the horrible disease eating away at her brain loosing the ability to function normally. One of the reasons that we selected Oak Park Manor it was listed on the dept of health website as an approved facility who accepts the assisted living waiver program. The program provides financial assistance to those who qualify. For more information, https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/ltc/Pages/AssistedLivingWaiver.aspx Before my mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's I knew very little about the disease and it complexities let alone the morality rate. For more information on Alzheimer's and the 7 stages of it. https://www.alz.org/alzheimers-dementia/stages If there was anything that I learned from her experience was to share what I've learned with others who were up against making the decision to place their loved one in a facility like Oak Park. If I had to do it over again I would make the same decision.

That's how they end up getting bedsores and UTIs.!! Also, if they don't want to eat, they'll let them starve!! They ignore them when they need help and if they don't want to get in the shower, the rip off their clothes and force them to get in with cold water!! it stinks really bad in there. Caregivers are always on their phone.
