If I could give zero stars I would - four times we tried to rent from this place since they were partnered with our insurance company. I travel a lot, I rent cars a lot. I have come to expect the poor attitude and couldn't care less outlook from counter staff and customer service at Avis and Budget. I picked up a Dodge Durango for a very long one way trip. I drove off in the car and noticed a cigarette smell. I drove about 3 miles realized this isn't a car I wanted to drive for two weeks. I was concerned I would be charged for smoking in the car, I'm not a smoker. I called the location I rented from and the guy there said "I spent 10 minutes cleaning the car, it doesn't smell like smoke." I drove it back and the guy still said in his opinion it doesn't smell. I asked for another vehicle. He said he didn't have any other cars for me. There were other cars on the lot. I turned in the keys and will NEVER go back to this location. It's not the first time there but it was my last. If I could pick negative stars I would. Went to Enterprise in San Marcos, TX, they were happy to have the business. read more

I would not recommend this location. Very bad experience with them. We rented a car from Avis and within 24 minutes of our trip had a flat tire. Our nearest Avis destination was Kyle, TX. So we pulled in to a very un-professional Avis location. First, no one was at the front desk, only a sign stating, "be back soon." "Soon" ended up to be almost a 15 minute wait for both me and another customer. When Kyle came in, and I explained my situation, he informed me that, "I do not have any cars you can trade, all the cars in the lot have reservations." I asked at a minimum if he can at least put on the spare since I was driving to a wedding, and I had already had to stop at a gas station to fill the tire. Kyle then informed me that, "I am not a mechanic, there is nothing I can do" Not a, let me fill up the tire for you, let me call another Avis destination to see how I can help, NOTHING. It was horrible customer service. So now I am risking blowing out a tire on a freeway, and Avis - in particular Avis in Kyle, Texas - could care less of my safety, or if I hit someone if the tire blows out. It was the most unprofessional Avis rental location I have ever encountered. read more

My terminally ill husband was given a reservation by a friend to pick up a car at 9:00 am tomorrow to drive my elderly mother to Alabama to see her sister. He had 9:00 am pick up time and asked the young man behind the counter if he could pick it up later, due to an appointment. Not only was the man a total rude condescending jerk, but he told him he had to have a credit card to pick up the car later. The reservation had already been made by a person with. A credit card. My husband offered his visa debit card, but The extremely rude and uninterested man behind the counter was so unhelpful, we don't even know if he has his reservation for tomorrow anymore. My mom is already packed and ready to go. My husband has a plane ticket to fly back n Sunday. Does Avis not take a frigging debit card anymore??? Should I hire a pack of sled dogs??? Maybe it's time to get rid of people working at rental dealerships and only do self check outs. Robots have more compassion. read more

I had previously rented from here in December 2014 and had a great experience. Not sure if they changed owners or managers or what, but I just had the worst car rental experience of my life-- and I rent cars about once every other month for work and sometimes, like this instance, for fun-- to take a nice drive out into the Hill Country with the wife. I came to get my car and the one they had available to me smelled like smoke and B.O. I mean, BAD like smoke. Like someone had constantly chainsmoked on a coast-to-coast roadtrip. It was powerful and almost knocked me down as I opened the door. I went in to ask for a different car and was told there were no other cars available and the only option was to cancel my rental. I figured I'd at least get an apology and an attempt to either re-book me somewhere else or get another car from another location. None of that. I was told my choices were to take it or leave it and that they tried to clean it as much as possible. Then I got a little upset. No, it didn't smell like someone tried to clean it up. You can invest in some Febreeze and fix that. I'm not sure how people think it's ok to run a business like this. Either a) you think this is acceptable to give people cars that smell like backstage at a Motley Crue concert circa 1986 or b) you thought I wouldn't notice/wouldn't care/would take it because it's my only choice. I'm thinking it's more option b, seeing as how nonplussed they were about losing my business. Any reasonable business owner, whom the person behind the desk purported to be, should have another option available, and not just pawn off a stinky car because it's the last one you have. If this is how you treat the interior of the car, how do I know the maintenance of the car has been kept up with, too? This raises so many red flags. It's not acceptable. I'm very sad because we wanted to be able to support a local business in Kyle rather than rent a car from the airport. But you just lost a customer. read more

I reserved a premium car and the Avis in Kyle provided me with a Brown Ford Taurus. I know what you're thinking, but it was actually one of the best rental cars I've ever had. I made a reservation online and paid with my debit bank card online, they took out the $176 right away, I go a few hours in person to check on the reservation and I get told I need a credit card which I don't have or use or need to pass a credit check, which I don't because of medical bills, I ask if I can pay cash and he says no, gives me a number to call to cancel and get my money back, I call that number and they cancel the reservation, only to get an email to say they will refund my money 7 DAYS LATER AND DEDUCT A $50 CANCELLATION FEE...WHAT?!!! I've rented from here several times and I always have either my Amex or Usaa rate honored. At first I was frustrated not understanding that when reservations were made. They were not made at location. Knowing that allows me to understand. So when I come in they handle it to the best of their ability. I'm not sure of the gentleman's name but he is always helpful when I rent from this Avis. Thanks for making it easy to rent from Avis. Any time I have had concerns. They were addressed. Joe was awesome to us in our time of need. On our way to Galveston to go on a cruise, we started having car trouble. This was the only rental car place that we found to be open on a Sunday. Thank God we were able to drive our car enough to make it there before they closed at 1. But Joe not only helped us with the rental, he was my person of contact for the tow truck driver the next day. Worst Experience moving with Budget. Vehicle not road worthy for safety! 1) Picked up the truck and they must have had the truck parked a certain way when we did the walk around, after loading the truck I check all tires air pressure and found a cut on the RRO tire into the cord body. Called manager and told him of issue and he told me "if its holding air, just drive on it. if it blows out we'll come out and replace it". Really!!!! I told him that I was coming back in with truck and wanted tire replaced, he reluctantly agreed. 2) Had blow out on trailer and called for road service, over two hours later, never showed. I had been in contact with the repair facility and they said the Budget fleet Services had not called them yet to respond, so i limped 6 miles into next town and luckily the Segovia Truck Stop (that does business with Budget) had finally called in and replaced the tire and a total of 3 hours later I was on the road again. 3) Power ports on dash did not work 4) Right side passenger door would not latch all the way and I had to listen to road noise, wind blowing through, and it rattling for 1000 miles. 5) Trailer lights had a short, which prevented me from driving at night. 6) Interior box light did not work. Just a note: truck and trailer consisted of 10 tires, it had 7 different brands on it, 4 of them different foreign brand tires. I stretched to give them 2 starts, but just because I made it the rest of the way. Neither the pick up location (Kyle, TX) nor the receiving location (Mesa, AZ) care about the safety issues. The receiving location said, "nothing I can do, call our customer service on Monday" Irresponsible Budget Location manager in Kyle. I wont be using Budget Truck for my 2nd part of my move coming up here next week or anytime in future. read more

Reserving and Picking up my rental was quick and easy. I noticed there was no walk-around when picking up but I was in a hurry and didn't think twice about it. On my way home the vehicle kept hydroplaning in the rain so I pulled over and noticed that there was absolutely no tread on the tires. I brought this to the attention of an associate when dropping the vehicle off and he dismissed me immediately by saying he had no control over which tires were on the vehicle. The same associate had just a few minutes earlier been extremely rude to a gentleman who's reservation was not available to him when promised. The gentleman was rather restrained and just walked out. I would have had much more to say to the associate about his smart alec comments. I won't be doing business with these folks again. I just hope no one gets hurt in that vehicle because I have a feeling that it was rented soon after in the same condition. read more
