Ahmed, Stephanie, & Andrew have the highest standard of customer service and renting here is always fast & reliable. They also have a convenient key drop box for returning cars after hours! Reserved a premium suv for a flight arriving at Long Beach ,ca airport on 8/7/2026@at 12:00. Delayed arrives at 2:45 and the vehicle was given away , no contact or verify to me as they gave vehicle away. No stuck with management and team members with our suv. Low inventory and cars were unavailable to us even though we had a reservation. It was very frustrating. We came a little early and they said they did not have any cars at all. We understood and waited until our reservation time. We just got off our cruise ship and took a Lyft to the office. Around came 11:45 am and no cars were available until finally people started coming to drop off their rentals. We also met another couple that waited 2 hours past their reservation time. That is inexcusable and ridiculous to wait that long. The 2 employees were there kept trying to tell us they can't do anything about it. When the rentals were being dropped off we had to wait another 20 min for them to clean their cars. I don't recommend coming here unless you want to be waiting around for a long time. Next time, we are going to look for another car rental place. read more

Avoid this location at all costs. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that can only be described as feeling scammed and gas lit by the two employees. I made a reservation one month in advance for a very specific size of vehicle and they called me ten minutes before my morning pick up to try and imply that I made a mistake and that their location never Carried that type of vehicle. I then went in person because they told me they had another large vehicle in stock that they then claimed was not available when I arrived. When there, another customer came in and complained about the condition their car was in. The agents then proceeded to openly make fun of her and openly discuss her feedback infront of a room full of customers. Decided to rent a vehicle from this place and advised specific time that I wanted to rent the vehicle for, in addition to advising that wanted to drop off the vehicle at a different location. AVIS representative verbally confirmed and stated that everything is going to be ok, advising me of potential charges and additional fees for an Under Age Driver. I refused all the insurance options provided by AVIS and returned vehicle in a perfect condition. Later, I learned that the representative provided a vehicle for a different amount of time than it was originally requested. In addition, the insurance charges were added to my rental even though I declined everything. The deposit of $200 was never returned. Will not recommend. Checked in at 1:30pm for a 2pm pickup and there were no cars available. There were some angry people in there, yikes. It's hard to control when people return the vehicles so I understood and don't see the point in getting upset with the workers. The 2 gentleman at the counter were calm and kind and said there would be availability in about an hour. Luckily we could spare the time. Thankful we could get a car on a Friday AND holiday weekend because in the meantime, I called other nearby rentals and it was all the same-no availability. Car we got was nice and clean. read more

I have a one star because it doesn't allow zero or minus zero .. I scheduled a 10:45am pick up time to rent an economy car for a few days . While on the phone , I asked if they thought I would be able to check out by 11:30 & the person on the phone guaranteed me I would be equipped with a car by that time & on the road for my trip to Arizona . When I arrived at 10:45am & gave the gentleman at the counter , Soleman my reservation confirmation number & showed him my email confirmation pick up time he informed me there were no cars available, but if I wanted to wait then someone may or may not return a car that I would be able to rent after they completed their check out process & wash & vacuum the car . He informed me that it could be several hours or not at all & I was welcomed to wait . He said having a reservation & pick up time was not a guarantee & really meant nothing . I asked what time they expected a car to return & he said he had no idea . But he continued to tell me I was welcome to wait how ever long I wanted to wait or not . He said there was a larger car I could rent for an upgraded price but did not offer me the larger car at the original confirmed price . He was unapologetic & quite apathetic . I waited until 11:30am (45 minutes ) & there were still no cars available. I consider this extremely poor management & customer service . Made a reservation the week before, the morning of my reservation they called to inform me that they have no car available. They suggested that I get back in contact with them 2 or 3 hours later. Later, they still had no car. They suggested that they might have a car available the next day. They next day they informed me that they had no car available. In all of Long Beach. At any of their locations. All of the people I spoke to seemed earnestly apologetic about all of this. No one was rude. But this is very poor customer service. I won't ever try to use Avis again. Lost a day on my trip, had to use another car rental service. Here's another tip- I added insurance when I reserved the car through Expedia. 90 dollars total. Don't do that. If you add insurance, which is a good idea, do it at the car rental desk with the car rental company. In fact don't use Expedia at all. Despite having my car rental reservation not honored by Avis and having them essentially cancel my rental, Expedia refused to refund my 90 dollars. I paid rental insurance for a car I never had the chance to rent. Nice racket. Watch out for that. read more

Decided to rent a car here because it was closer to the port than the airport. Glad that it was just got the day and we are returning it at the airport. Staff isn't friendly and OMG, I wish I would've taken a picture of the elevator. We couldn't even use it because it looked like someone was living in there. When it opened this horrible smell came rushing out, there was clothes and a backpack on the ground. We ended up taking the stairs and the smell was horrible too. The car's tank wasn't filled up all the way, the car was still dirty. It also looked like it had been sitting for awhile. We didn't even want to go down to complain because we didn't want to have to deal with the smell again. I would never ever rent from here again even if it's the cheapest location. The air conditioner makes a weird whistling noise and Also the check engine light just came on after 30 miles of driving. Oh and we booked a Camry or similar and we got this huge gas guzzler. I rent cars frequently (at least once if not twice a month), and only use this location . Everyone at this location understands the value of customer service. The cars are always clean. I know for a fact that they wipe down the car with antibacterial wipes, to keep their customers from catching colds. I know this because I saw it being done, and it was told " you never know, maybe the person who had this car last had a cold or was sick, we don't want to pass those germs along to our next customer". I do not have high expectations from car rental companies, but poor service and disrespect is a no. I had an awful experience at this location, unpleasant staff and lack of proper customer service! Save yourself some money and energy and go to another car rental! The staff was completely dry, disrespectful, unhelpful and does not provide clear guidance. The gentleman at the counter was extremely rude, did not provide clear explanations and was inconsiderate of current circumstances in order to avoid unnecessary contact at drop-off for people that have certain conditions. Refused to explain how the after-hours drop off can be used and just ignored. It seems like the rental does not take much precautions to avoid contact, has no sanitizer, etc. I do not see any reasons to use a rental that disrespects customers, and does not take proper precautions not even when requested. read more

I was in a bind when I needed to get a car. So naturally I was expecting to pay much over what I should. The clerk Solomon, was very helpful trying to find me discounts I could apply. Ultimately I paid more than I think I should have but with the discounts it was much less than the original figure. The car was fine, and it was quick to get it from counter to out of the parking lot. A very good experience considering the last second bind I was in. Note to reader . I had an atrocious experience and I have rented from Avis before but after this I don't think I will ever rent with you all again. I would give 0 stars if I could. I had a 9:30am rental reservation for an economy car and showed up on time for my rental reservation. This employee told me he didn't have any cars my size and I would have to give him an additional 1.5 hours to locate a car in the size on my reservation. I was on a time constraint hence why I made the reservation in the first place. I explained to the employee I understood his dilemma and would be willing to accept another vehicle of size to be on my way. This employee proceeded to tell me that he would have to "up charge" me to get me in a vehicle although it was Avis who was not able to honor my reservation that I was on time for. I explained I will not be paying extra for a vehicle that I didn't not ask for as I was trying to be flexible since my vehicle was not there on time. This employee proceeds to tell me that he has other reservations "ahead" of mine that have not shown up yet and wanted to hold their vehicles for them although they were over 1.5 hours late at this time for their reservations while simultaneously refusing to honor my reservation that I was on time for by providing me a vehicle that he had in his possession. A family with an 8:00am reservation walked in at around 9:45am to which this employee stated out loud, "I have your full-size car waiting for you and will be right with you". It appeared that because I was a single black woman that I was treated with no respect. This Avis employee refused to provide me a vehicle, yet he held a vehicle for a white family who arrived not only late to their reservation but at least 15min or so after I did. I am disappointed by this treatment and deeply saddened that Avis has employees that do not honor and respect their customers. Upon my exit, I asked the employee for his managers name so that I could follow up with how things transpired. I was told his name was "Westin", and when I asked for his last name, he refused to tell me and waived me away from the desk. I then asked for his name, and he stated "Sam", and waived me out of the door and prepared the keys for the family that he wanted to rent to behind me. This incident prompted me to cancel my reservation as I walked out the door and went to rent from another company who treated me like a respectable human being. I would not advise anyone to rent here unless you want them I deal with shady business and disrespect. read more

Excellent customer service. My car was in the shop and I had to rent a car multiple times over the course of the repairs to get to work and back. After an excellent first time experience, I decided to stick with this place for the other rentals I needed. Sulaiman and his team took excellent care of me. Juan made sure all the vehicles were clean and disinfected according to Covid requirement. I felt safe and now I feel like I made new friends! I arranged to rent a convertible well in advance. Although we enjoyed the Mustang 5.0 convertible the very first thing we noticed was that it was very dusty inside and out (outside was covered bumper to bumper with dust). Also upon the day of return we got stuck in commuter traffic which took us about two hours to get from Venice Beach to Long Beach, the option of returning the vehicle to the airport was not given from the initial rental clerk as she stated they closed at 5 pm (she was a bit of a snob). But when we called your 1-800 number they were pleasant, understanding and directed us to the Long Beach Airport, which is where our flight was departing from (to the 1-800 staff I would give 5 star rating). read more

It was my first time renting from Avis and I must say the blonde guy was a cold as it gets. I wasn't sure if he was sick but he was so dry and kind of made the transaction uncomfortable. He had his mouth over his mouth the whole time and had absolutely zero personality. I don't understand why someone like him works for an establishment that deals with customers. He handed me the keys and told me where to find the car but I got no "have a nice day" "thank you for choosing us" nothing. I've lived in Long Beach for about 8 months now and will only ever go to THIS AVIS. I initially found the Avis company in Tampa, FL before my long drive to California. The gentlemen at the Clearwater/St.Pete airport weren't the most helpful, but alas I got my van and drove to Cali. Since living in Cali we need to rent a car about once a month. We figured we'd use Avis since we already had an account with them. We made a PAID reservation on the Avis website (on a Saturday morning), but when I got to this rental center, they were really busy and didn't seem to have any cars. I angrily left and started trying to find a car at any other rental center as it was urgent I had a car that day. I had no luck finding a car at any other rental center, turns out Saturdays are busy for these places. Anyway, I called back to Avis, as I wasn't sure what else to do and spoke with Stephanie. She told me to come back to Avis and she'd figure something out. Sure enough, when I showed up they had a car for me. Ahmed apologized for the long line and not being able to get to me before I left. Every time I've need a car since then I've gone to this Avis. Ahmed and Stephanie are always very accommodating and I've learned not to book online on a Saturday morning. read more

Although I did have to wait a little bit as they were busy they let me know an approximate wait time and someone continued to make sure that I knew I wasn't forgotten about. This place is racially profiling blacks people. My cousin went in to just get a reservation. Not only did SOLOMON THE MANAGER deny him for no reason he said the computer told him not to run his American Express Card. I've never heard of a system saying don't run a card. Also he said asked "weren't you in here last week?" He has never been to that location ever. This was discrimination and profiling at its best. I will make sure to tell everyone in my network about this. You guys should take everyone into consideration they want to legally rent from your company. This place is a very bad Avis. Please reconsider ever renting here. The rental was reserved online confirmation number 49142786US0. The card matched the ID matched it was reserved ahead of time and there is no balanced owed from my cousin Thurston. Yet he was still denied by Solomon.
