Here's one way to RUIN CHRISTMAS--- make a reservation back in July-- fly from out of state-- make it in time for your reservation (12pm) to find the office closed. Now you're left with a 7 month old baby, no rental car, and a 2 week trip in California during the busiest season. I booked a reservation in July for December since we were planning to travel back to California for the holidays ( we live out of state) to spend my 7 month old baby's first Christmas with my family. My reservation was made for 12pm. We had a family member drive us AN HOUR AWAY to get our car and arrived at the location for pick up at 11:40ish and THE LOCATION WAS CLOSED. Wait what!? After calling their customer service number, I was told that the location closes at 11:45 today... WAIT WHAT!? After over an hour on the phone and 3 transfers later with Avis' general customer service, I was able to get everything squared away. FEEDBACK FOR THE PLEASANTON LOCATION- as part of your operational process-- have the courtesy to maybe review the reservation schedule for the day and CALL CUSTOMERS if your hours do not align with the pick up time that the reservation system allowed to book. Def never coming here again (we travel often too). But shoutout to Brenda from the customer service center-- she literally saved our holiday! read more

We have heard many horror stories from family about any rental car company but Enterprise or Alamo. So all these years, we avoided other companies. But, when we needed a local rental car place while our car was in the shop, we looked for other options. This place is literally a hidden gem! We didn't even know it existed had it not been for yelp! The lady who checked us in was super nice and since she had other cars available even gave us a free upgrade. Check out was another lady who was just as nice and the poor lady was working so hard checking people out at the end of the day. We wouldn't hesitate to use this place again should we ever need to rent locally. Pros: nearly $100 cheaper than other companies. Nice staff. Cons: closes early. No direct number but most rental car companies don't have one. They also had a note on the windshield that says you may need to pay for sand, dirt, mud, spills in the car? We didn't have any issues but not sure how strict they are with this. read more

Way better experience than the San Ramon location for the following reasons: - Cleaner car received - interior (much appreciated) - Car in excellent condition (no warning lights) - Good service (my car was ready and was greeted at the door for return) - Pet peeves: - Not a full tank (3/4). I always return it full. It's annoying because I am paying more and someone else is mailing it in. - No key drop box for after hours drop off - Can't call the local office directly because it rolls over to the sales agent. Rented a car here to take on a trip to Central Coast California. There was a very bad storm that would be taking place throughout California duration of rental. The car we rented was dirty on back seat and floors, as well as inside the doors. Huge dead spider in the back behind the back seats in window( look like it had been there weeks. WIPER BLADES WERE OLD AND RIPPED (even though agent was well aware of storm coming in, think they would check the wiper blades), we could barely see driving through the storm, so much that I had to stop and buy some rain-x to help with visibility. Lastly the Kia forte we were given has MECHANICAL ISSUES, when you would put the car from reverse to drive position the reverse camera would stay on the screen. This happened 5 seperate times. It would only correct when I would put the car in Park position and then to Drive position again. Not sure why this car is even given out with this issue. Agent working didn't seem to care when all things were mentioned to her. I had planned on renting another car here in two weeks for another trip, but UNFORTUNATELY I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS AVIS/BUDGET LOCATION AGAIN! read more

I love this AVIS location. The lady who runs this place gives best in class customer service. I have been renting ~70 days a year for many years and have gone to many AVIS locations in Hayward, Oakland, SFO, OAK and now Castro Valley. This is by far my preferred one simply because the lady knows what she's doing. She makes every rental experience simple and straighforward without unpleasant surprises. She's very nice to interact with. I picked up yet another car from this location on 12/15 at 12pm and had the same consistent pleasant experience. I came back on 12/16 to add another driver and again simple and efficient. I've been going to this location for about 2 years and intend to continue going there for all my rental needs as long as this lady continues to run this place. This has got to be the worst AVIS ever! I can't believe AVIS allows this for corporate rentals. I had to drive to Bakersfield so my company rented a full size vehicle. I get there and as usual I am told they only have this one vehicle, their parking lit was full Of cars and Lauralei the owner told me these were ALL customers cars. I asked "Oh you let customers park their cars here?" She said yes. (I don't believe there were 15 customers cars parked there) As usual it had filthy windows inside, I was grateful I had Kleenex I my purse to wipe the drivers side, there was only 6/8 of a tank of gas and when I went to the car all of the windows were down. It was a nice afternoon so I left the drivers window now and made the short trip home. That afternoon I see that I can't move the electronic seat back because there was nothing to move it with see pictures. Then when I opened the car the smell was HORRIFIC AND PUTRID! I opened the trunk and I found a carry out box of chicken had been left in the trunk. I had to drive to Bakersfield with this PUTRID SMELL. Thank goodness for a good AVIS location on Wible Road in Bakersfield where I could exchange the car! When I returned the car yesterday I asked if I could use the restroom and Rebecca started yelling at me, her eyes were glassy and her breath smelled of cigarettes and told me no go to McDonalds! I am a Preferred Elite Plus member and this is how AVIS in Pleasanton treats their customers! I WILL NEVER EVER USE THIS LOCATION AGAIN & I SUGGEST YOU DON'T EITHER! read more

I have had 2 reservations at this Avis rental recently in July and August 2022. I got to say neither cars were in perfect condition (one had the checked engine light on and the last one did not have a full tank of gas). But the overall rental experience were excellent both times. I have had many rental car counter experiences last couple of years due to revenge covid travel. Along with this review, i will write a formal complaint to Avis Budget Corp headquarters regarding fraudulent activity at this location. I returned the car in perfect condition and received a letter one month later stating that there was front windshield damage and they had repaired it and already charged me $600. I told them I drove the car and there was no such damage. I wanted proof and they said "for small damages we dont take pictures!"...Unbelievable. I have already filed a fraudulent claim with my credit card. Think twice before coming to this location. There is something very shady going on with this site and the manager. I reserved through Costco Travel and they had the best price at the time for and intermediate SUV. We needed one to take our daughter back to school with all of her clothes, bedding, computers eat al. They reserved a smaller suv that what we wanted. Rebecca fixed that for us and gave us a much larger suv in the same class... Mitsubishi Outlander 2019. It was perfect. When I explained that we wanted to return the car a day earlier, she adjusted the final amount to take off a day. It was great, she was easy to worked with and very serviced oriented. read more

The minivan is unable to start due to an alternator failure so I called roadside assistance on 1/16 5:30pm. Roadside service stated a two-way tow will be dispatched from SMF airport which is 120miles from my location in Bear Valley. I expected the tow to arrive by 9pm. However, roadside service called me at 8pm that they won't be able to do 2-way tow until Sunday at 10am. We waited for 2.5hrs in the cold for nothing, and my family (wife and 2x kids under 9) were stranded in the mountain and have no transportation to our AirBnB. Roadside service said that they will have a 2-way tow scheduled first thing Sunday morning but the dispatch ticket ***1876 was closed because they couldn't reach me multiple times between 4:48-6:30am. Are you kidding me? I called back at 7am to confirm that the 2-way tow was still necessary and he will re-open the ticket ***1876. I called roadside service at 10am to check on the status of the ticket but was told that the ticket was closed because they could not reach me multiple times between 4:48-6:30am. I DID CALL BACK AT 7AM! They stated I needed to open a new ticket since there's nothing they can do after the ticket is closed. They helped me open ticket ***2979 for a 2-way tow again on 1/17 10:30am. She said it'll take 4-6hrs for the tow truck to arrive so it should arrive by 5pm on the same day. I periodically checked the status of the ticket at noon, 1pm, and 2:30pm but the roadside assistance stated that the ticket has yet to be dispatched. I called for roadside assistance beginning on 1/16 5:30pm, and have called multiple more times afterwards. However, we were left stranded without a replacement car for more than 24hrs. This is after receiving 3x confirmations that the 2-way tow will be dispatched. I am very disappointed with Avis emergency roadside assistance's response in our emergency situation. My family and I were left stranded in the cold after being promised a replacement car is on its way multiple times. We finally gave up on the 2-way tow and asked a friend to come pick us up and drive us back home. read more

I've only dropped off a car at this location. The store front looks like a small kiosk that is there to service the many car dealerships around it. I wonder what their availability of cars are for renting actually is. Nevertheless, I was suppose to drop my car off in San Jose but decided this was closer so I called them in the morning. The lady was very friendly and assured me there would be little or no charge to change the drop off location; but they close at 6 instead of 11. I said no problem and dropped off my car at 5pm. It's strange dropping a car off at a non-airport location. There is no line or hassle/fuss over paperwork. You simply park your car in any open spot, write down your own mileage and go instead to get your receipt. I was charged $0 extra! Woohoo! Great customer service. Don't understand why when that's when most people are off and do road trips. Although I had booked the minivan in advance, there was none ready to go. Lady who rented me the car was nice enough. Office was fine. I received help right away. And that's where it ends. The car was dirty on the outside. Bugs all over the front. Smelled of stale smoke on the inside. Only used it for one day. Put maybe 45 miles on it. Mid SUV for $95. Seems kind of pricey to me. Then after returning it, I later noticed an extra fee of $15.32. Called about it. Lady on the phone did not handle the situation with composure. Non customer service skills. Said the fee is automatic unless I show them a gas receipt of filling up the car. Funny. When I dropped off the car the lady did not ask for any kind of receipt. Which I had. Totaling a whole $2.14 filled up at the Shell right across the road. Lady on the phone said that it should be taken off the credit card. We'll see. What a pain. And a bad taste in my mouth experience. This is the second bad experience I've had in renting an automobile in Pleasanton. Go figure not Pleasant. read more

This Avis location saved my family vacation. The Dublin Hertz completely failed to have a vehicle available despite confirming they did by phone the day before. This Avis was the only nearby place open Saturday afternoon. The very nice and helpful clerk had a premium-trim Ford Expedition available and gave us a discounted rate that was less than we would have paid Hertz for an inferior vehicle. This was despite us just walking in without a reservation. The car rental worked great without any problems despite putting 1000 miles on it. I will definitely use this location again for my next rental. read more

Rented a car online last week while my car was being repaired. Prepaid my rental online, and when I came to pick up the rental noticed I'd been charged a second time. That couldn't be fixed in the store, I had to call customer service to get the credit, which then took 7 business days. The body shop that had my car needed to keep it longer so I called to extend my rental. No problem.... Until I came to turn on the rental & there was a $60 fee for "not extending the rental", which now I have to call customer service again who will hopefully rectify the additional charge, which should never have happened. Poor customer service & over-priced! I'll never rent with Avis again. Too much hassle! read more

One of the worst services that I ever had with AVIS. Even though I am a preferred plus member, i did not get what I wanted. I approached the facility with a tire pressure issue which the agent did not want to inspect and I requested for a replacement. Fortunately I was able to get a replacement from San Ramon as Pleasanton agent was rude and did not give me a replacement . the agent from San Ramon where I got a replacement, called me and told that my previous car tire was flat on the next day. Had I drove this car on my way to LA, I would have been in middle of the forest. Many of my friends told that this location (Pleasanton ) agents are rude and did not recommend. I strongly recommend to goto San Ramon which is 6 miles away instead of Pleasanton. read more
