I rented a car for five days using my AAA benefits at the Oakland Airport off property facility. The Hertz. The reservation quoted $355.50 The Hertz representative charged me $447.78 I said no, my reservation 383676985 said $355.50 and my additional driver is free. So, she revised bill $391.24...crediting the $75 but adding a new $90 charge. When I returned the car I complained about the $90 charge. That charge was removed but later I realized each time they adjusted the bill they increased several of "the service fees" so the net effect of the $90 overcharge was reduced to a $15 credit with explanation given. I do not recommend using Hertz Rental, they are dishonest and cheat you. Additionally, they sent me and my Aunt out to the back of the building to search for the car in a huge very dark parking lot. It took us 20 minutes to find the car. We are both over 75 years old and this was a very scary experience for us. In our opinion, we will never choose Hertz again and we will warn our family and friends at the Senior Centers to not use Hertz. I am also going to report them to AAA. read more

I rented a mini-van for a 3 day weekend trip at $90/day. Everything was pretty straight-forward when I came in on Friday to pick it up, the service staff made it easy enough. My only gripe was the car was pretty dirty on the exterior. The interior was fine although it had a smell that I couldn't quite pin. It seems like they do at least clean the interiors. I returned the car on Monday morning, no issues during my return either. If you guys don't know where this location is, it's connected to a collision service center off of Dublin Blvd. It'll jump out at you so make sure to be on the lookout, because there's not a lot of signage. read more

This is a satellite location of the Pleasanton store, I like to use this store when I'm in a pinch and need a rental. The guys at the desk are really helpful and always seem to have the basic car I need to get where I want to be! If you are looking for more choices on a vehicle, I recommend the Pleasanton location. The male at the register was unprofessional and made it clear there was NO WAY we were getting our car early. Fine, we then were told that the car HAD to be returned by noon on Saturday. Ozy was amazing. I crashed my e class and I needed to rent a car. I must say their location is so clean and organized. Ozy helped me get into a xts Cadillac and I'm in love ! He didn't try to pressure me at all into getting insurance or gas. He was so sweet and so nice. He handled my paperwork sooooooo quickly. He even showed me through the car how to connect Bluetooth, and showed me the lane assistance. I had the car for 12 days, and he told me to drop the car in the body shop and that's what I did. Ozzie at Hertz Dublin gave me the most horrendous customer experience I have ever had trying to pick up a car from them. I am a Hertz Gold member (for over 10 years)and called the 800 number for Gold members and was able to rent a car (7) seat SUV to accommodate the extra family for the holidays coming in from the airport. The agent I spoke to on the 800# was able to find me a car available the same day at Hertz. This was great news so I made arrangements to be the driver for the family and pick up from the airport as well as shuttle them around the bay area while they are in town. Now comes in Ozzie who calls to tell me 2.5 hours before I am due to pick up my car he does not have anything available. He does not bother to even try to find me a car. When I told him this was unacceptable as we have family depending on us since they had confirmed my reservation earlier and taken my credit card. He actually had the nerve to blame me as he said I should have made the reservation earlier than that morning and put the blame on me that I had also not called his individual Dublin site phone number to confirm the car was actually available (even though his Gold member agent had taken the reservation and confirmed for me). He then rudely canceled my reservation and hung up on me and when I tried calling back he put the call on hold indefinitely. I will never do business with them again. I would give this location zero stars if I could. The guy who works here, although he seems nice enough, is very very lazy! He had rented me a car and I had to bring it back because the tire light came on. He said he would call me back as soon as he had a car to switch out for me but he never did call me back, not even a courtesy call, and I couldn't go to work that day. Anyway, it was a huge inconvenience for me. He ended helping me the following day but not without some pleading on my part asking him to do his job. Jeff and Rene were both great to work with when picking up and dropping off my rental. I had no issues with a last minute request for a vehicle an hour before closing time. Jeff made sure I was getting a premium rental while my vehicle was in the shop. Rene was helpful with putting my rental on hold while the insurance extended the day so I didn't come out of pocket for a full day. Step 1 - Hertz and State Farm "replace" my full size luxury vehicle going in for repairs with a base level compact car with less than 1/4 tank of gas. When I stated this was not acceptable, I was told that was what they have and they will try to get a full size but no promises. A large international corporation with no promises? Step 2 - Call Hertz 800 number and am redirected to another location and guaranteed they will have a car for me. Step 3 - 2nd location and an hour later, and they do not have any cars. Less rude than step 1 but still astonishing. Want to make this right Hertz? Send a full size car to me and waive the additional costs. This message will go to all social media platforms and every review site I can find until I receive an acceptable response. Step 4 - Social media team cannot help, we will have to continue to work with local teams responsible for steps 1 and 3. Step 5 - Had State Farm divert my reservation to Enterprise, drove away in a Lexus in 30 minutes. $15 more a day than the compact, covered by insurance. A happy ending. Step 6 - Hertz wants to charge me for the car for driving it off the lot after offering no alternative. I would ask the Yelp community, is it worth the $26 to Hertz' brand to have this review continue to exist into perpetuity? I cannot believe it is. read more

The short summary is they lied to us and made my wife and six-month-old infant wait 75 minutes without even attempting to solve anything. My wife, baby, and I reserved an SUV for a family trip to San Diego. I was told by phone the day before pickup that they had a vehicle and we would receive a Toyota Rav4, Nissan Rogue, or equivalent from another brand. When we actually went to get our vehicle on time, the closest vehicle available was a Nissan Frontier, an open-back pickup truck, which they kept trying to convince me was equivalent to the types of SUV listed above. Yeah, like "SUV" easily translates to using a tarp to tie down my family's luggage. I asked them to call around to see if another branch had a suitable vehicle available. The clerk then made two very short, half-hearted phone calls to nearby branches along the lines of "You don't happen to have an SUV available for a trade? No. Bye." There wasn't more than a one-second pause between the question and his answer, so at the very least he seemed to be looking for a "no" answer. My wife, six-month-old infant, and I then were made to wait another hour and 15 minutes while the clerk attended to other customers, with the promise of at some point calling the airport branches to see if a suitable rental was available. It would be hard to overstate the level of apathy the clerk displayed toward our situation. We eventually gave up and left without a rental. This experience was bad enough that I will never use Hertz again. read more

This was the first time Ive used Hertz over my usual Enterprise. Never again! I paid and reserved for a mini van for a long trip. I got there and was over two regular cars instead! No, thats not what I wanted. I sat there after I got the run around for a good hour. I finally got something equipped to seat 7 but nowhere near a mininvan . OUr family trip was uncomfortable. The staff lacked heavily in customer service and showed no regard to not only not having the car I reserved weeks in advance, they showed no effort to adjust the rate I was already billed and charged for a higher class vehicle. Since there is no where I can find to post a review for Hertz as a company I am posting on my local branch. To keep the short, due to bad direction from the call center reservation agent we had a problem with our rental which Hertz "resolved" by renting the exact same car (same license plate, etc) to both of us for the same exact day so they charged us twice for 1 car and we cannot get anyone there to listen to us or care to resolve it. I am not happy about being scammed out of $100 but what I am really irritated by is the lack of care for their customers and the fact I am a "Gold Member" means nothing at all when it comes to issues. I always feel a measure of a company is how well they handle issues and on this point @hertz fails! It looks like they will be keeping the &100 they scammed out of us, but it's the last dollar of mine they will be getting. read more

I found that entering this "closet" was a joke. The Indian man behind the computer doesn't even stand to greet you. His computer screen blocks his view to a customer. He was on the phone over five mins and never acknowledged me. Like "Be right with you" Both cars I rented from there were filthy and smelly. Both had less than a quarter of a tank of gas. So I had to go fill the tanks right away. Just a nuisance. The shoe scuffs on the back seats looked like kids had a playdate in there. The complete experience from there was poor. I will never go there again. I recommend Enterprise further up Dublin Blvd. I've used Enterprise's service many times and have always been pleased. I went to Hertz because it was across the street from Cooks Collision, by the way are top notch. read more

Do not get a car here !!! I got a call this morning from the guy working there saying I could pick up my car today. When I got there the man was helping another guy who was unhappy about the car they had set up for him. The guy ended up leaving and had to called an uber since the man working there, Ozzy, offered him no help. Then, come my turn the man working there insisted my name was not in their records. I told him he had called me that morning and he quickly changed his answer saying my car was ready which just happened to be the same one the previous guy refused. He started hassling me over buying their insurance. I politely declined and he continued to hassle. I told him no again and he continued to hassle more. I asked him "Am i not allowed to say no?" To which he responded with more hassling about why i needed the insurance. Eventually after much more back and forth he let up had me sign a contract and charged me $50 for some unknown reason. He claimed they had to hold a deposit despite me going through my insurance to do the transaction. After giving me the keys to a red cheverolet I inspected the car finding many scratched and dents on the outside. What i found on the inside was much more appalling. I dont know what it was, but white stuff was all over the passenger and back seats along with animal fur and dirt. I asked the guy about it and he said it was not animal fur and there wasn't anything on the seats. I let him know my concern about being charged for it and he said if they found anything to be animal fur i would be charged. He said if i wanted it cleaned i would have to get a cleaning service. He deeply sighed in annoyance took the keys and went back inside. I followed him back in to let him know i would not be using their company. He said everything would be voided and I asked for a receipt or confirmation number. He told me he didnt have anything like that. I asked if i was going to be reimbursed for the $50 he said it would just be voided. I asked to see the contract i signed and he refused. He said he would give me the contract number but i insisted to see the contract. After more refusal from him and more insisting from myself he finally begrudgingly handed me the contract. I took a pen and scratched VOID on it. I took pictures for my record. He glared at me and told me to just take it. I asked if he had a copy and he said there was no reason i should be taking pictures. Extremely sketchy since before he refused to even let me see it. Im 19 years old and my guess is he probably thought he can hassle and take advantage assuming i didnt know what he was doing. Considering no HERTZ seems to have an average review of over 3 stars, corporate should do a serious clean out of these rude employees. read more

Well the reasoning for this rating is based off of a few issues. One the reserved vehicle type I rented was not available when we arrived. They didn't even have the decency to call me ahead of time, so that I could of made other arrangements. As I was renting during a peak holiday season, no cars in the largest sizes were available anywhere. They were sold out all over town, and at the major airports, I found that highly unusual. To top it off I couldn't really understand the guy at the front desk his english was poor, and for someone working in a customer service job in America I need you to speak english in a manner that everyone can understand. Nothing wrong with being a minority, I am one, but I also speak english in an english speaking country in a manner that everyone can understand. I don't mispronounce words, I speak clearly. Also trying to argue with me about my rental when we are trying to show you on screen what we rented is not professional. Trying to talk down to me like you are a know it all is also not professional. I don't care how many years you been in the business then you should speak in a professional manner, and listen to the customer listening being the key word here, and you should explain things in a nicer manner because I have no problem lighting someone behind up talking to me like they are crazy, and have no common sense or act right. The whole experience was a disappointment, and dissatisfying. The only thing done right was greeting us when we first walked in and being kind for a short period of time. He kept trying to give me a downgraded car, and didn't listen to me when I told him it needed to be what I reserved or bigger because I need space to fit my packing boxes for a long cross country drive. this place has THE WORST customer service. from the second i was referred to them by my insurance, it was awful. I think his name is Ozzy? refused to pick me up from dropping my car at the repair shop. told me there's no one else and he cant leave and there's nothing he can do about it. then told me they have no cars, raised his voice at me when i asked him when he would have a car for me. again, nothing he can do cause its Presidents day weekend. i ended up getting a car by the end of the day. two days later that car was vandalized in a parking lot and someone broke my window. blah blah blah, skip to returning the car. i need to get and itemized receipt to submit to my insurance that specifically says "glass repair" he tells me theres nothing i can do. he is the manager (of course) and thats all he can do. i cant even tell you how many other times he straight up refused to do something, his customer service is HORRIFIC, and he should not have a job there anymore. from reading other reviews, most feel the same. corporate needs to shut down this location. read more

Ww went to Hertz rent a car because our insurance company told us to go there. When we picked up our car we were told we had to bring it back with a 1/2 tank of gas. That is it. When we returned the car today we were told there would be a $200.cleaning fee if we did not vacuum it out before return. This was never brought to our attention at pick up. We have also rented many cars over the years and we have NEVER been required to vacuum a car before return. This car was not left dirty either. We went and vacuumed the car since so we would not be charged. This is not fair to the travelers who rent a car and do not live 5 miles away nor do they travel with a vacuum. Would give 0 stars if I could. From start to finish this was an awful experience. The day after a traumatic car accident the insurance company set up a rental car for me at this location. I received a 2016 Ford which stopped unexpectedly twice on the 680 freeway the very next day. Roadside service said they would be happy to tow me to the closest airport which was Oakland airport. That was a MAJOR inconvenience seeing as how I was on my way to catch a flight at Sacramento airport. When I explained that to the hertz I was told to take an Uber to The Sacramento airport and I would be refunded. Almost 4 months later and this location won't even answer my phone and when I do get a hold of someone they say there's nothing that can be done. Jeff the manager & Chris the manager in training are equally terrible at their jobs. Chris is on his way to becoming Jeff's prodigy. Romel, bless him, tried to help me and I appreciate that. However he came back with the same response as everyone else, "there's nothing I can do" so he was equally unhelpful as everyone else. Thanks for nothing. Hello, I am a customer who was just returning at the Dublin location and my mother rented the car threw aaa, because her car got in a crash. While having the rental my mother had several problems with the vehicle has going quick, car would auto stop out of no were and it was freaking my mother out . Today I just went to return it and nick from your Dublin location goes and checks the car for mileage and comes back says I am charging you 250$ with a attitude saying the car is dirty and dog hair, I asked my mother she said the car was given to her dirty and check engine/oil change light was on. Nick stated to me that I rented the car looked into my eyes and said I dirty it. Which I never rented the car I am doing my mother a favor and returning it for her, with attitude and stares me down I felt very embarrassed for him singling me out saying I return it and I confronted him saying that you better check your records because this is the first time I have been here and I never rented the car first day so please do not point me out. And he made threats of charging my mother that. I would like to speak to you about this matter please asap very poor customer service from nick and singling me out especially the vehicle has all these problems. Also I needed a ride back took over 15 mins to get someone and they said 3 min nick needs more training in customer service and better people skills Other rep was in there said sorry about what he said he's good with are but not faces. They worked hard to get me a rental car but in the process it needed to be brought back in for some additional cleaning and Jessica knowing I had to be on time to work made sure my car was immediately taken and cleaned and my wait was very minimal. . Josh promised a mini van at 3pm and still no mini van. When my husband asked another representative at this location where were we supposed to put our children in the trunk? TRANSPHOBIC!!!! Would not rent me a car because I didn't have an ID because I am waiting on mine in the mail from the DMV and I had a temporary one. I also had my Social Security card and my AAA card. All of which had my name on it. And they wouldn't do it because they said they needed to make sure that the face matched the name. I had the worst experience renting from this location. Nick the guy at the front desk was very rude and argumentative. I showed up on time for my appointment but the car was not there and was not going to be there for the next two hours. That alone is unacceptable but to put the icing on the cake Nick was extremely rude and standoffish and did not even apologize for the inconvenience. He did not come up with any solutions to fix the problem. He merely told me that he would call me when the car was there. 45 mins later I get call saying the car was there but the check engine light was on. Again no solution was given he basically said it was not his problem. At this point I had enough and even told him that he needs to improve on his customer service skill and a simple apology goes a long way... still not even a simple sorry. I asked to speak to a manager but apparently there were none there at that time.
