My husband and I tried this place tonight, and we will definitely be back. We started with the stuffed banana peppers, and they were not too spicy but had a little kick. The chicken bacon ranch pizza was great and so was the pepperoni with portobello- you'll definitely leave with leftovers! The dough was not over cooked, and the sauce was amazing. We tried the tiramisu as well, very good! More on the creamy side, but definitely worth the try. The prices were all reasonable. Came for a quick dinner. Ordered two sandwiches...Italian and steak. More lettuce than meat on the Italian and the steak was sweet without much meat. Waitress didn't come around and we had to flag her down for two more beers. This place was so good! I'm not in the northern 'burbs and I've driven by this place a few times, wanting to stop and today was the day! The breadsticks and marinara starter followed up with stuffed peppers was an outstanding choice! At first the prices seemed a bit high until the portions showed me that the prices were on point! We stopped by for lunch and a beer on a weekend. We walked in the door and headed to the bar only to be addressed as "excuse me, excuse me"several times by a staff person.... when we inquired if the bar was open she indicated there was a party going on as if we had gone somewhere we weren't supposed to be.... we had no idea... the space didn't indicate so.... completely felt uncomfortable that we weren't welcome. Awesome place, great food and service! Tried going to Anthony's wood fired grille and the service was so bad we left before ordering, this place is always packed for a reason but we were immediately greeted and it was well worth the wait. Nite if you order the banana peppers they are hot as heck, they manager immediately noticed and brought us a new one in its place. My experience was at the Cranberry, PA location. Not very kid friendly. Waitress was extremely rude with our table. I was told my child needed to be quiet. We get take out from Aviva quite often and have always been rather pleased! I LOVE their vodka sauce but sometimes when I order it, it's not the same as it usually is, still good nonetheless. Their pizza is always on point and delicious and I love their salads when adding chicken or shrimp. They are very considerate with how they pack their to-go meals and I really appreciate that, especially with salads. Also, their sandwiches have all been very yummy. My side salads have been forgotten a few times, but now I just know to check my bags before leaving. read more

I write this review as a parent of 3. This would be a totally different review if I were married with no kids or not married at all. As a parent of three kids, all of which are under 6, it was tough eating there. The food was good, but I wouldn't necessarily agree that it's good for kids. Here is why: The kids menu is limited to 4 options (spaghetti and meatballs, noodles & butter, pizza, and mac & cheese). While those aren't bad, I am a parent of a kid who doesn't eat pasta or like pizza (I know what you think..."what kid doesn't like pizza?"). So basically, my daughter wouldn't eat dinner. In addition, there was no bread or anything offered while waiting for the meal. Again, not a problem for a normal situation, but when you have 3 hungry kids and are waiting awhile for food, that bread can be a big thing. Also, my kids were the only ones in the restaurant and at times the other customers seemed disturbed by the fact that they were in there (we were there on a Thursday night from 6:15-7:15). Again, if I were in a different situation, I would rate this restaurant higher. The food is very good and the atmosphere is very nice. The wait staff was very friendly and I have no complaints about them. I really like going there and will go back again, just not with my kids. read more

Very good. For our entrée, we had a vodka sauce brick oven pizza. I had never before seen a vodka cream sauce pizza on a menu before. That's a first! I've only ever seen vodka sauce as an option on penne pasta or some other noodle. Yay Aviva! Keep making more unique dishes like that. And it didn't disappoint, it was very good. Little small though. I wished it was a tad bigger. But really good. If you have ever happened to read any of my previous reviews you know I talk a lot about the quality of meatballs. Restaurant says they are open until 9 pm- Walked in at 8 pm and the staff stares at me like "you want to be seated? Ah duh ... we close at 8 " So - a restaurant that serves pizza closes at 8 pm- are you kidding me? So I asked why their hours are posted on three separate sets of doors as 9 pm closing - they look at me and said management has had it that way for a year and never got around to changing it - even the employees agreed 8 pm was weird. Aviva Brick Oven had some amazing pros but a couple cons as well. I ordered the "pick two" when out for lunch with six of my coworkers. For only $10, I received good-sized portions of a Mediterranean salad and Margherita pizza. The Mediterranean salad was delicious! The Margherita pizza was also pretty tasty but too greasy for my taste. Though the food earned 4 stars, the cons were frustrating enough for me to only give this restaurant 3 stars. The parking lot is so small and inadequate that you either have to (a) park behind the plaza and walk around or (b) valet park. The restaurant was also half empty over lunch, but my six lunch companions and I were absolutely squished at a tiny table. read more

Forget Il Piziola. This place has some of the best Neapolitan pizza in Pittsburgh. We went with a party of seven and everybody agreed that the pizza was outstanding. Good selection of beer and wine and nice salads. Desserts were excellent too. read more

Went to aviva last night. I will first by saying that I love the no wait app that this restaurant uses. We had 4 pizzas for dinner which were excellent. Crispy and the right amount of cheese. We called ordered two Gluten free pizzas. First off, the lady on the phone was super friendly and helpful. We told her of the celiacs( gluten allergy) they were extra carful in making it separate from other pizzas. We had the steak and blue which was so good. And pepper pie sausage and olives. You have an option on your sausage crumbled or sliced. The flavors were great on the pizza the crust was just Okay. Better then other places but still not awesome. We will be ordering the steak and blue with a normal crust. We will continue to order GF pizza when my parents are in town. read more

Had a horrid dinner. Shrip Scampi: five overcooked shrimp on dry pasta (really, it was dry, I took two mouthfuls). Wife got the steak pizza. The meat tasted like they just took beef and cooked it. It didn't really taste like anything, no marinade or spices. We have so few nights out without the kids. I hate when dinner is really bad. Never going back. read more

Went to Aviva on a Sunday night about 8:15. Not overly crowded, and we were lead into the bar area. Have been here a couple of times and liked it, but haven't been in a while. My companion and I started with the meatball app, because I remembered them from my last visit. They were still good, and piping hot, but could have used more sliced bread to mop up the sauce. My companion ordered the penne with vodka sauce, which he liked. I ordered a vodka pizza, and was VERY underwhelmed. The taste was fine, but I would have expected a little crisp of the dough from a brick oven. The pizza wasn't very hot, and the crust had the consistency of wonder bread. It tasted fine, but that's not all there is. I couldn't fault the service - the waitress was very attentive. May go back some time way down the road, but will definitely skip the pizza. read more

So I called for delivery and was told they don't have any drivers on staff. They are opening another restaurant and seem to have taken their eye off running their current one. My mom and I went to Aviva Brick oven because we were intrigued by a Facebook post raving about their vodka sauce pizza. When we got there it was very busy and hard to park which was annoying but we figured it was a sign that the food was good. Due to the busyness the place was rather loud but after waiting to be seated we were sat in an area with warm lighting which made the environment a bit more relaxing. Our server was very nice and energetic and didn't get annoyed when we couldn't decide what to order. We settled on splitting the vodka pizza (of course!) and also the chicken piccata. When our food arrived we found that the pizza was not worthy of the praise it received on Facebook, it was fine as far as pizza goes but not something I would order again. It was very cheesy which was a plus for me but the ratio of cheese to sauce was very uneven with very little sauce, which was the main reason we ordered it. We then asked for extra sauce on the side which came in a giant bowl almost like they were serving us tomato soup. I was surprised at how much they gave us but then less so when noticing they added $2 on to the bill without telling us in advance. The pizza overall was very chewy and tasted only of salt, garlic, and grease, and little else. The chicken itself of the Piccata was moist and tender and the sauce was tart and buttery but the flavor was very subtle and yet over salted without accounting for the saltiness of the capers. The potatoes on the side were just plainly salt and peppered and the brocollini was cooked perfectly firm but was also salty. Overall the food was edible but we will not be going back, at least not anytime soon. read more
