We came here to try it out for my dad, who's a vegetarian and will be visiting next week. We were greeted by Isaac who gave us a great rundown of the place. We ended up ordering the kimchi spring rolls, the western burger with gluten free bread, and the og nachos. My husband and I loved the spring rolls. They were so flavorful and mouth-watering. My husband also loved his western burger, although he wasn't a fan of the bread (he tends to not like gluten free bread anyways). I loved my nachos! Went to AVO recently for a late lunch and loved everything about this place! The decor and atmosphere indoors is great and everything we ordered was delicious. We got the arancini, kale caesar salad, lentil walnut burger and the chocolate avocado tart to share. Everything was very flavorful, we especially loved how the lentil-walnut burger had a very "meaty" texture to it - very filling. I tried one of their mock tails - lemon lavender, very refreshing and not too sweet. There is also outdoor seating that has a view of the sandbar. It was sufficiently strong, but I thought the flavor was a little too subtle. Kimchi Spring Rolls: 5/5 These were a flavor explosion! I didn't even miss the traditional parmesan cheese (replaced with cashew-parmesan), and I loved the fried chickpeas as they were both tasty and added some needed crunch. Pad Thai: 4/5 This dish was more subtle in flavor but still delicious, and the zoodles were cooked well. Wow. I was pleasantly surprised when my carnivorous friend took me here when I came to visit. Avo is the cutest spot with a modern vibe as it's inside of a shopping container. Its open concept dining room floor brings a vibrant and lively atmosphere. The service staff is also friendly and attentive. We had the famous avocado margaritas and they were surprisingly normal. I love avocado so I had no complaints but it just tasted like a regular avocaado with a nice visual aesthetic. We also shared a plate of loaded fries which lasted a fraction of a second. Lastly, I tried the draft cocktail which was a sake sangria and it was the BOMB! It's a seasonal drink that switches up, but it's perfect for summer and super refreshing. I loved visiting Avo! Great food, drinks, service and ambiance. We had the spring rolls and BBQ nachos, my boyfriend, who hates mushrooms, gobbled up the Lion's Mane BBQ nachos.. I waited until he was done to tell him he just ate a full plate of mushrooms, lol. We also had the Vegan Vampire and Holy Smokes, both VERY good drinks with great presentation. I love both indoor and outdoor, very casual yet stylish. I wanted to give a notable mention to the staff. We went there with our very human reactive dog, he was of course muzzled but it was our first time taking him to a restaurant. Though we were very cautious and had our dog between us where others couldn't be near him, we gave the staff a heads up. We interacted with 3 staff members and they were all so very friendly, some even complimenting how cute our dog was while still being cautious of not crossing any boundaries. My friends were at Pinewood Social for lunch and the waitress jokingly (but also highly) recommended Avo knowing that we are from California. KIMCHI SPRING ROLLS: Limited quantity, so get your order in fast! After reading endless reviews of the spring rolls I was so excited to try this out! Inside the rice paper is a bunch of vegetables, and a cashew cheese/kimchi mix that is flavorful and so delicious with the peanut sauce. I can confirm that these live up to the hype. AVOCADO MARGARITA: Really really delicious. For anyone who isn't used to having avocado in sweet things, you have to give this a try! Avocado is relatively flavorless and instead offers richness and thickness. The flavor of this margarita really comes from the lime and orange juices. I loved this and would highly recommend for anyone who likes citrus margaritas, which should be everyone. Again, believe the hype! SQUASH BOWL: My friend did her "happy dance" when she ate this. As someone who has to follow a gluten-, soy-, and dairy-free diet, she is extremely limited to what she can eat at restaurants. She subbed the quinoa for cauliflower rice and found her perfect bowl. The lemon tahini used in this bowl is creamy and nutty, but also light and a perfect addition to the kale and squash. Not a very large menu selection in the first place, so when they told me they were out of the two dishes I was actually interested in ordering, I was not happy. So I opted for the Butternut Squash bowl. It was good. Had a nice balance of flavors. Though i probably wouldn't come again just for that dish. Oh man, where do I begin?? Some of the best vegan food I have had IN MY LIFE!! We had the nachos, the crab cakes, a couple of burgers, kale Cesar's salad, and the cauliflower steak. That every dish was phenomenal was an understatement. The lentil patties for the burger was flavorful and not dry at all. The sauces complimented the food. The cheese on the nachos tasted like regular cheese- you don't even realize it's vegan. The salad was so delicious. I usually hate kale and I'm not a big fan of salads, but the kale was not fibrous and rough, and was well tossed with the other ingredients ingredients sauces, to make for a delightful and healthy add on to our meal. It was the perfect fall lunch dish! In fact, my mouth is watering as I write this. I also enjoyed my dish with a crisp lager from Oregon if I'm not mistaken. My 20 month old sone had a small side of Mac n' Cheese and he devoured it. The menu seems straightforward, with maybe 15 items but o choose from, but again very tasty. Mamas and dadas be forwarded, they are VERY strict about bringing any outside food in. I walked in with a banana peel, empty seltzer water can, and a cereal bar wrapper (to throw away and keep my car tidy) and was immediately stopped before getting to step into the restaurant and told that I couldn't bring it inside. I politely explained that I was hoping to throw it away. They allowed that, but then almost in the same breath stopped me as I was sitting down to say that I couldn't give my baby any snacks. They said it's because they are kosher. I respect that and assured them that I would leave all snacks inside. Thankfully my husband arrive early and order my sons food first otherwise it could have been a much different experience. One pescatarian, one vegan, and two omnivores - and none of us were impressed. AVO is a raw, vegan restaurant with an interesting concept, but unimpressive food. I have nothing against raw food - but if you're going to serve raw food, ALL of the components of the dish have to be SPOT ON. And AVO doesn't quite get there. We started with their signature cocktail - the AVOcado margarita (fresh avocado, resposado, cilantro, fresh lime, agave, and house-made orange dust), and it was my favorite thing we tried. The avocado is creamy, the tequila is pronounced, and the rim is salty! We were quite satisfied with it - like an avocado smoothie with booze. What's not to like? We also shared the tree nut cheese plate as a starter. What a disappointment. They were out of some of the cheeses, we only got two pretty bland cashew based cheeses. Honestly, I've made better cashew cheese in my Vitamix at home. Completely bland. I know raw food's primary concern is healthiness - but would a little salt or miso in the cheese be that bad? Because it needed it. We didn't even bother to finish the cheese. It also came with pickled rutabaga, which tasted pretty bad (and I like pickles). The sprouted crackers were fine. The best things on the cheese plate were the raspberries and the fig spread. For our entrees, two of us tried the lasagna, while the other two of us tried the special salad of the day and the "rawvioli" of the day. Of the four, none were impressive. The lasagna was terribly unimpressive - more of the bland cashew cheese, a bland tomato sauce, and some raw zucchini. Nothing to it and nothing impressive about it. The rawvioli were fine - more of the bland cashew cheese, but at least the "mushroom sausage" provided some flavor to the dish. The salad of the day had a walnut "meat" and a pineapple salsa. The salad was quite spicy, but it was my favorite of the entrees we tried. But that's not saying much. (And I could have done without more of those horrible pickled rutabaga slices.) The pineapple salsa gave this dish some flavor - which is more than I can say for the other entrees. The rawvioli and the lasagna came with an unimpressive side salad as well. The service left something to be desired as well. Not quick service. We had to flag down our waiter a few times. The ambiance and decor was interesting and modern - located in one of several containers - the restaurant has a lot of natural light, which was nice. The restaurant shares bathrooms (located outside the restaurant) with other shipping containers at the site. This was a really disappointing meal for all of us. We certainly won't be running back here when we move to Nashville in a few weeks! read more

The food is good--interesting flavors and opting for healthy is easier than not. I'd say that for the price it's a bit steep for what it is--while portions aren't skimpy in the slightest, getting a veggie burger with one side for $20 makes Avo an infrequent stop for me particularly when there are plenty of options in that arena for half the price (and prices can run equally steep for dishes which are essentially dressed up cauliflower rice). I know if you're using fresh, healthy ingredients and paying your staff fair things will cost more but, for example, is it too much to ask to throw in one side (e.g., the fries) with a burger? $15 for the plate sits much better with me for a healthy(ish) lunch. That said, other than some construction issues (the veggie burgers are a bit crumbly) the different style of burgers and sandwiches are unique and offer flavor profiles you won't find many other places. I also like the refurbished container village vibe, it's certainly come a long way in a relatively short amount of time. Service is friendly. read more

I tried the summer pizza with cashew cheese, tomatoes, peppers, and a greens on the side. Everything was extremely fresh and light, not a heavy meal at all but still left me full and satisfied. The cashew cheese was incredible! It had a fantastic texture and tasted amazing. I honestly didn't miss real cheese it was that good! The greens on the side were a very large portion and perfect freshness. The second time I visited I had the avocado toast and it was very similar to the pizza, just added guacamole. It was also delicious and came with a large portion of greens. I decided to give one of their sweets a try and had the raw cinnamon roll with a sweet icing. It was good but very fruit heavy; it was different than what I expected but still very good. I have not yet sampled their cocktails but they all sound fabulous and I am eager to try them out next time, hopefully when I can make it back for dinner!
