I replaced the DLP bulb in my Mitsubishi set and it did not work. Called on Friday for a service appointment and had one Saturday morning at 830AM. Peter showed up on time and diagnosed the problem by 900AM and it was not the new lamp. After my 50" plasma was out of commission for a few months and bought another LCD, I found these reviews on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I called him up and was told that there is extra charge for house call. So I decided to just drop it off at his shop since it's not too far of a drive for me. He was very professional and helpful. He showed me the posting of prices for drop-offs and house-calls when I inquire about it since I didn't see anyone mentioned it on here. Fair enough since it didn't looks like he just created it for me. He promised me to call me within in a few days with his diagnosis since it's the weekend when I dropped it off. And he did called as promised. He explained me the prices and the options. Great. He said that the power supply for my TV was a little hard to find since AKAI wasn't making much plasmas those days when I bought one and those are hard to find. He made no promises when it will be found but he promised to keep looking. He thinks it would cost about 700 to 800 to get it all done if he found the PSU. Rather than drop another 2.5K for it, I decided to give it a try and I have another brand new 42" so I wasn't in a big hurry. Peter called me 3 weeks later and told me it was all fixed. I was surprised. The total bill was less than what the estimate was with only a little over 500 including diagnosis fees. Another surprise. He even come over my house to help me carry it to my family room on his way to another house call in Santa Clara. My plasma is HEAVY. Another big plus? I set my newest TV up at my mother-in-law's house while she was on a few months vacation in Japan and made it looks like I bought this new 42" as a gift just for her. TV repair cost; $500 . I am renting my house out and left the big screen for my tenants -they had a problem with the TV . My 46-inch Mitsubishi LCD TV died after only 2 years. It won't turn on. Peter Moon charged me $95 which included pick up and diagnosis of the problem. Unfortunately, my TV was beyond repair. He tried to replace the signal board but that wasn't the source of the problem. At the end, I decided it would be more cost efficient to just buy a new one. Peter could have charged me for his attempts to replace the signal board and the restocking fee, but he didn't. He was fair and honest every step of the way. I called Awake TV and inquired about pricing for a house call visit and repair fees for my 2002 Toshiba model. A pleasant and patient man on the other end of the phone asked me questions about the cables, DirecTV box and model number. After some back and forth inquiries, he told me to try to hook up the DVD player to the TV and see if the same problems I've encountered are present. Turns out after that everything works properly. No visit needed, no fees. He was willing to help me over the phone, so an unnecessary trip to SF and basic fix was not necessary. Quite impressive really. Peter fixed my Toshiba DLP set - It was a tough job - After replacing the bulb assy it would only start up after a lot of plugging and unplugging. My 3 year old 46" Samsung TV kept cycling through on and off whenever i tried to turn it on. Eventually it would stay on, but once it tried for 20 minutes and didn't come on so i gave up. There was a $50 charge for the diagnosis which would be waived if I had the repair done. He came over the same evening, and repaired my TV. He was friendly and efficient. I have one of those Panasonic DVD recorders that they no longer make where my remote control no longer works. After calling Panasonic support, they told me it was probably the remote sensor gone bad which is a $10 part. Of course, fixing it would be a problem, since they would charge me $200 after shipping, etc. Thank god, I found Peter who does these kind of repairs. He took my DVD recorder apart, installed the remote sensor, and only charged me a minimal amount in addition to calling me at work since he was near my location where I could pick it up from him instead of me heading down to Mountain View. If I ever have another problem, I would definately go to Peter again. He is honest, knowledgeable and reasonable. It's a shame in today's world, we can throw stuff away that can be fixed. I found Peter through Yelp reviews (thank you!)....I was googling and googling to try to find a certified Mitsubishi repair company, but there are very few left! The original store (Andersen TV) for our 10yr old big screen TV is out of business. So I called Awake TV, and Peter said he'd be out the next day between 1-230pm. He showed up promptly at 115pm, and quickly found the solution - he said it was one of three things (our TV would not turn on after a power outage the night before). He replaced the component "a DM box" and was done within an hour and at a very reasonable price. He is very knowledgable, and when we get a new TV/stereo system, we will call him to come do the installation! It's so great to find customer-friendly, competent service repair people! read more

Not really knowing a whole lot about CA, our 42"Mitsubishi went on the blink. My husband immediately said the convergence was out. My son thought that we had 3D, so went to get his 3D glasses we had kept from the movies. I thought it was the insightful idea that made sense to the younger mind. Needless to say that didn't work...but smart! I hopped on YELP to look for a TV repair place/person. After reading a good handful of reviews, I decided that Awake was a good place to start. Though it was the weekend I called that same day and Peter said that he would be able to come on Monday, but may be able to come by Saturday afternoon around 2-4pm because he would be in the area. He did come by on Saturday. Had to take the inner workings into his office to replace the convergence tube. Also explained how he would clean everything inside to give us a much better picture and basically brand new TV. It is only 5 or so years old, but may last a few years longer. We've used Awake TV two times now, once about three years ago to fix our Sava speaker system and about two weeks ago to replace a power supply on our tv. Peter Moon has a great service. He makes house calls to fix your TV and electronics! I made contact with him via email, and he came to my place within 48 hours (and on time). He checked out my set up and diagnosed the bad DVD player. (I have a complex set up of cable/VCR/DVD/TiVo/receiver, and somewhere in there the audio had failed.) He actually got it working again, but went above and beyond by showing me how to reconnect things in a "Plan B" configuration, if it happened again. He advised me to buy a new DVD player if it happened again, not try to repair it. This, from a repairman. Such honesty is refreshing these days. Peter Moon is the real deal. He makes house calls. He knows what he's doing. His prices are fair. You're going to love doing business with him. Our story: 8 year old Panasonic plasma TV stops working. Sure, we could replace it, but we love the deep blacks that only a plasma or high-priced OLED TV can produce. We wonder: does anybody still know how to repair TVs? We're old enough to remember our dad replacing vacuum tubes in our 1950s era set. We call the high-end video store where we bought our TV and they recommend Peter Moon and Awake TV. He came to our home, did some troubleshooting and diagnosed a bad circuit board. The fee for that was reasonable. In a day or two he called back with an estimate for the cost of repair. He said that new boards were very hard to come by, but he could do a component-level repair on our board. He gave us a price quote and said that if he couldn't fix the set he would return it to us and not charge us anything. We took a few days to think it over and then decided to give it a try. Peter said it would take 1-4 weeks for him to complete the work and test the set and we got it back in 3 weeks. The TV works as well as before and we have a 90 day warranty on the repair. Ou r(Old Monster) TV) 2003 Sony Trinitron had a power problem, where it would not turn on, unless it had been off for a couple of days, but we still love it and researched repair options. We called several places with high marks on YELP, and some didn't even bother to return my call, while others wanted to charge a service charge to diagnose, but would not credit it to towards repair. Peter called right back, showed up right on time (on Saturday) diagnosed the problem, ordered the board and 2 days later, showed up right on time (Tuesday, 7:15 PM) after we got home from work and fixed the set. He credited the service charge towards the repair, which came to a grand total of $270, much less than what we had seen charged for the same repair when we researched it. So, if you are looking for a courteous, prompt and knowledgeable service tech to repair your old trusty TV, call AWAKE. Oh, yes, Peter also set up all of the auxillary connectors again for us and even did that right so stuff we did not hook up right they all work too, which was a nice surprise. Nice work! read more

Diagnosed the weird noise out of the DLP-based 50" TV in no time, without even opening it up. Color wheel part needed to be replaced but unsure of availability. Would call on Monday. Received a call early in the day that the part was available and that Jason would come in to replace it. Jason was as courteous and effective as Peter. I have a Samsung 37" LCD, probably 3 years old. It would power up but just would not turn on anymore, screen was blank. Made the decision to fix it instead of spending another 600-800 for a new one. His $30 diagnostic fee is fair AND can be invested into the repairs (unlike best buys Geek squad where you lose 80 bucks) and his work was fast and efficient. I have a 2005 Samsung Analog TV. The Samsung & Digital Convertor remotes have not been working for a couple of months. At 5:50pm today I googled TV repair and found most shops were closed. I happened across Awake TV still open and gave them a call. Peter said he could stop by right then as he was only a couple of minutes from my home. He had a Samsung remote which worked, so he re-programmed my remote taking only a minute. Eureka! My remote was working again.
