When Bob came out and measured for our new countertop, I was impressed with his knowledge and professionalism. I was happy with the general contractor's choice. However, the day of the install, his guys were over an hour late. Ok I'll let that go. One installer asked the "boss" about measurements, and he measured the stove opening several times. The "boss" said there was plenty of room. They did a seemingly fabulous job ! My husband even gave them a huge tip. I asked them to leave the stove out as I wanted to paint behind it and the adjoining wall. When the painting was complete I asked my husband to help me push it back. It didn't fit. Ok. Maybe it did, but there was not one millimeter of wiggle room. I pull my appliances out several times a year to clean and that wasn't going to be happening with the tightness of the stove. We were afraid to even try as it would have to be perfectly straight while being pushed back or something was going to get scratched or gouged. Then there's the issue of the faucet hole, which was cut crooked so now my faucet sits to the right. After calling the GC he contacted the company. The man who answered the phone was NOT Bob. I wish I would have gotten his name. He made me feel as if it were an inconvenience for them and "lucky for me" they had a cancellation. Well. Yes. I wanted my stove sitting in the middle of my kitchen all weekend ! He continued to make excuses for the hole, and then blamed the plumber for the crooked install of the faucet, after saying they knew nothing of plumbing, but admitted the hole was quite possibly crooked. I don't want excuses. We hire professionals expecting a professional job. I certainly hope this gets fixed today. Until then, they only get 3 stars. Continued.....Well, I'm dropping my rating to two stars. When a customer who is paying over $5000 for a custom countertop calls with a problem, and "Darin" acts like he's doing ME a favor by fixing their mistake ?? Yea. We have a problem. I would have been a lot more satisfied with, "I'm so sorry, Mrs. B, we'll take care of "our" mistake and make it right. Nope. Didn't happen. Darin sent a crew over to grind my counter in the middle of my kitchen.....can you say 1/2" dust over my new furniture and throughout my clean house, even in the cabinets ??!!! No one mentioned the mess it would create, and that maybe I should cover things. I may be naive, but I assumed in someone's home, they would have a tool that sucked the dust as they cut. To top it off. They didn't bring the correct fitting to bore the hole straight for the faucet. I again called Darin, who once again, was the rudest man I've ever encountered in customer service. "I SAID we'd fix it and we will ! But it'll have to wait until Monday !" He never gave us a time frame, nor did they call ahead on Monday to tell us they were coming. They were supposed to wait for our general contractor to get there. And after ALL that ??? The hole is now too big for my faucet :-/ Ive called two plumbers and even a plumbing supply company, and they're all stumped. Seems my faucet won't be able to be installed now after all ? Who is going to pay for THIS ?? A new faucet ? Another plumber ? So glad my local cabinet company chose this company to do business with. (Sarcasm) I'm not sure if Darin is an owner, but he certainly has no business being in customer service. What should have been a smooth, one day affair, has taken days, frustration, destruction extra money, and I'm still not sure what will happen with my expensive faucet. First countertop installed was not the right size even though Darrin was given a diagram from the cabinet maker -- the overhang was 1.5 inches, not 10.5" as designed. When notified, it took more than 6 months to receive the new countertop. He failed to respond to six phone calls from my contractor and once contacted was extremely rude. The second countertop was also not correct -- prep sink hole was not the right size. A week later the third countertop was finally installed. Installation was scheduled for 11:00-1:00. They finally arrived at 4:00 with no communication Initiated on their part. They have reasonable prices for quartz countertops but terrible customer service. read more

Save your time and frustration and go anywhere else. This company took 2 months to do a job 4 other companies said they could do in a week. Darren would either not return messages or be extremely rude when he finally answered the phone. It's a shame too because we're remodeling our whole house and prefer to hire small companies. But I won't give another penny to someone as rude as Darren! read more

Absolutely awful, don't waste your time. As the other poster noted, Bob initially was great. That was until the day before installation, Bob changed the bid advising we had to have the counters removed and the sink installed prior to their arrival. I still have the contract that states Award will complete the demolition and sink install. After a meeting at the store, Bob refused to install the sink and complete the demo. He then got mad when I called him out and noted the contract stated he would complete the install. Bob advised it was going to cost more money. I canceled the job and Bob kept $150 for "measuring". This fee was not in the contract but he was mad that we canceled the transaction. Small claims court costs more so I guess I'm out the money. Simply put, Bob and Award Custom Countertops are not professional and definitely not worth using. Save your money, there are better options available. read more

We can't say enough about Award. The service was great! We had picked out a countertop that we thought we wanted and thanks to Bob telling us to come in and look at a larger sample first, he saved us a big headache. Had we gone with our original choice it would have been a bad choice. Darron, Bob and Josie are all wonderful to work with. We LOVE our new island countertops. Not worth the hassle when there are so many other granite installer options. Beware, Bob seems to think he can make up fees even with a signed contract. He's forced us to file a complaint with the BBB and small claims court. This is based on principle and if he does it to us he will or already has done it to others. Here's our story: Contacted Award Custom Countertops to install granite in my kitchen. On May 17, 2018, Bob Ward came to my residence and provided an estimate (estimate #1687) for the sum of $2,700. The estimate included tear out and installation. On May 23, 2018, I provided Bob Ward $1,300 cash as a down payment. Bob and I discussed my desire to install a farm sink, he drew a small picture and advised me to ensure there's at least 9" clearance from the top of the counter to the cabinet doors. I didn't hear from them for a week. On May 30, I asked Darren Pitts (co-owner) if they obtained our granite from Primus and he advised no but he would set it up for delivery and call me back later in the afternoon. Five days later (June 4), I called back advising Darren, he never called me back. Darren assured me the granite would arrive on June 5. On June 6, I text Darren and he confirmed the granite arrived and scheduled our install for Friday June 8. My wife and I went to their shop in Oswego to discuss layout and drop off the sink as we were told. Upon arrival Bob Ward stated "We can't install that sink, that has to be done before we arrive." Bob advised he told me the sink must be installed before granite..(absolutely not true).Our contract says removal and disposal. I asked why I would pay him to tear out the cabinet if I had to tear it out to install the sink. Bob stated "you heard what you wanted to hear." At that point things got heated, we argued briefly and I advised Bob and Darren I wanted a refund. Bob advised he would mail me a check but he was deducting "a measuring fee" for coming to our house. We argued as there is no such fee on the contract in fine print or writing. On June 13, I received a check for $1,150 with a memo "Refund Measure" indicating they charged me $150. This fee was clearly malicious for canceling the contract. read more

Wow am I glad I found this company ! We recently remodled our kitchen and I my wife and I were looking at countertops when we came across Award . I called and spoke with Bob who turned out to be the owner . He was a wealth of information . He spent a lot of time asking me about my needs and what we were looking for . He offered to come out to see us at our home . We decided to take a drive to his shop . We met his sister Josie who gave us a tour while we were waiting for Bob . Between the two of them we felt just like family ! We decided on Corian and took some color samples home , Bob came out to measure a couple of days later . When we got his quote we were very suprised ! We placed the order and a week later he was on site with another installer and put our counter in . WOW ! They were very clean and we enjoyed the time they spent at our home . We are VERY pleased with the quality and installation as well as the awesome pricing . It was so nice to deal direct with the owner who came out to install the counter as well , I highly recommend Award Custom Countertops ! Oh yea I almost forgot Bob made us a extra board made up of our countermaterial , what a nice touch ! read more

First, the measurement or the fabrication wasn't right...3 inch over hang on one end. The top was in our master bath and no one except us would really notice so we thought we'd leave it alone even though Award offered to fix it. I didn't want the hassle. But after installation they forgot to leave a part that the plumber needed for hardware installation the next day. We didn't know. So the plumber showed up and began installing new hardware then got to the drain but couldn't finish because the part was missing. We had to pay the plumber for visit #1 even though he couldn't finish the job. And the plumber mentioned the sizing issue. Now I was annoyed. So we decided to have Award take the top back and fix it since they had to come back out to deliver the missing part anyway. Darron promised a refund on part of the counter top because the plumber would have to come out a second time due to their mishap...and we had to pay for the second visit as well. That never happened. I emailed Darron twice about his promise have been ignored...no response. So buyer beware. read more

We had a great experience with this company. We had Ceaserstone quartz counter tops installed in our kitchen. The owner came to our house to take all the measurements and the staff that installed them was very professional. The craftsmanship is beautiful . read more
