Was in the area and wanted to get some healthy takeout to offset our turkey comas. The food was outstanding; the grape leaves were so fresh and the humuus was the best I've ever had. There was a small mix up with the order( regular fries instead of eggplant fries), but those were delicious, so it was all good. Prices were more than fair. Would definitely return. Well, we've eaten here a couple of times before. We have 8-12 people at work and we go to a different place every Friday as a sort of end of the week lunch party..... Collected everyone's order and money and at 11:30 (supposed to open at 11:00 AM) called up Azama Grill.....no answer......called back a few minutes later......no answer......called the Hair place next door......nice lady there says they're closed today.....no one showed up to work.....had to give everyone their money back and no lunch party today..... Worst of all this happened once before, months ago.....last time after they didn't answer we called another restaurant nearby and they didn't answer either, so we figured there was a problem with the phones around the area....(they were doing a lot of construction nearby and we guessed the phones were out)....... Now we know better....I just tried calling again (1:30PM) and they still don't answer.......I guess they're either sleeping one off or they're so rich they don't need to open the restaurant...... I wish I could give this place negative stars. Spent 40 on a meal for my friends and myself. I had chicken in my lamb/beef shawarma. I ate it and tried to politely explain to the restaurant workers that I was unhappy with this fact. Escalated into an argument and eventually almost got into a fight with the workers and ended with me being flipped off by one of them. Is this the way to run a business? Terrible experience. My boyfriend and I have been eyeing this place on foodler for a while, and last night we decided to finally try it. It was the single worst delivery experience I've ever had. When my food arrived, the delivery man handed me my food, and told me I "forgot to add the tip on foodler," to which I replied, "no I didn't". He insisted that I had, and I told him I didn't have any cash anyway. Truth be told, my boyfriend and I had smoked pot prior to the delivery, and the delivery man seemed to notice. He wanted to come into my apartment and smoke my weed as replacement for the tip I had "forgotten" to add. I said no, we didnt' have any more, and he told me had "some good shit, some great shit" with him and that I should come to his car and smoke with him. He pulled out a pack of cigarrettes which had some spliffs (tobacco mixed with marijuana) in it and he put the pack up to my face and told me to smell it, to confirm that he did in fact have "some good shit". Again, I adamantly rejected his suggestion. As he was doing this, making me smell his weed, he asked me if I was Jewish because my name is Rachel, and he told me I was pretty and that I had pretty eyes. I thanked him for the compliment but I did not appreciate the way he was acting towards me. The man was persistent in trying to get more out of this transaction. I spent several minutes trying to tell him "no." All the while, making this even harder, he had a very heavy accent and he seemed to think it was funny that I couldn't really understand him. So not only was he incorrect about the tip, incredibly forward, and unprofessional, he was also condescending and immature. When I finally convinced him to leave, he could not just turn around and walk away - he made me give him a hug, which made me EXTREMELY uncomfortable. I feel like I was harassed - both verbally and sexually - by this man. And then, disappointingly, the food was awful. My boyfriend and I both got lamb dishes (I the dinner plate and he the roll-up), along with some "Egyptian fries" and we were both very dissatisfied with the quality of our food. The lamb was burnt, overcooked, tough, and almost tasteless, and the rest of our meal was no better. The fries were lukewarm steak cut fries with a little bit of salt and none of the mayo they promised. I took one bite and threw the rest away. I spent $23.00 (INCLUDING tip) on this disaster of an experience - the worst $23.00 I've ever spent on foodler. And then to make matters worse, I got an e-mail from foodler after I got my delivery saying that "your requested adjustments, and extra $2 for tip, have been made". I did not authorize an added tip for these people, which means that they charged my debit card after the fact without my permission. Sketchy and greedy. I replied to the e-mail telling them I made no such additions to my purchase, and am working with foodler to file a complaint and hopefully get some of my money back. After reading some of the other reviews about this place I am not as shocked as I was last night about the quality of my interaction/food from this place. I can safely say that Azama Grill will NEVER be getting my business again. I wish I could give negative star ratings. read more

If parking wasn't such a pain, like how I feel in the bathroom, after having Azama's hot sauce, I would come here more often. Don't worry consuming it is much more enjoyable. Anyways, my regular orders from here is the lamb shawarma wrap and falafel. I usually ask them to add the falafel into my lamb wrap and learned to ask for hot sauce on the side (believe me the stuff is lethal fiiiyahh!). Meat, vegetables, and tzatziki sauce all rolled up into a tasty meal, great alternative to a gyro. Reason for wrap instead of the plate is due to share laziness. Meat is tender and never dry (chicken or lamb). Haven't had a bad experience yet. So if you're in need of a good colon cleanse or craving a quick wrap, this place is a go to. read more

Came here first by word of mouth, and Alhamdulilah exceed any expectations. we were greeted by azama, who was very friendly and down to earth. gave us recommendations on what was good and was just an overall welcoming guy. Gotta respect that he's looking out for halal/zabiha eaters as he explained the care to which he ensures the food is certified halal.food aside, if the ownership and personnel remain friendly and sincere, that will be enough to win me over. one thing is certain, Azama loves his craft (making food) and takes great pride in making the best tasting and highest quality food. i grabbed my meal to go, and once i got into my chicken kabob plate i was not at all disappointed! chicken was tender and was full of flavor! i went back, and tried the corba, falafel and kunefe and I have to say this is one of 3 places in boston that offers that rich authentic and delicious flavor. Ordered dinner from Azama last night and was a bit disappointed. I ordered tabouli, baba ghanouj, and the beef and lamb shawarma plate with extra pita. It arrived cold and there was no pita with my order. When I called to ask about it, the guy who answered was really rude. About an hour later I got my pita delivered. Food is fine but the delivery, and I can not emphasize this enough, the delivery is PAINFULLY slow. Waited over an hour and a half to get food which had gotten very cold. Went there yesterday and the food was pretty awful. Prices are modest and clearly aimed for the college aged crowd. Tried the Beef/Lamb schwarma plate, Chick schwarma plate, and Egyptian fries. First off, the salad was so wilted and had clearly been sitting out for almost the whole day. The meats were okay if you don't mind slightly overcooked and possibly twice-cooked meats. The rice pilaf was okay though a bit on the oily side. The Egyptian fries were so-so, nothing to rave about. We stopped in based on Yelp reviews and were extremely disappointed. Unless you're looking for an inexpensive meal, avoid this place. I've had other Middle Eastern food at Fordee's in Watertown that's just really world's apart and good quality and awesome price. Same goes for Rami's. I think the folks who wrote about the food being good came here in the early hours of the morning after having a pint or two. read more

After seeing the 4.5 star reviews I thought I should check this place out. Its little larger than a hole in the wall with sit down space for about 12 people. We ordered a variety of items - and except for the tobouli nothing stood out. The hummus lacked olive oil and garlic. I had the lamb kabob wrap. The meat was extremely tough and rubbery ---- either they use inferior meat or over cook the lamb to make it very very rubbery. Prices are decent --- but the food is not good. I'm thinking that the average 4.5 stars could be explained from the fact that most of its customers maybe late night party revelers(undergraduates) who are drunk and want anything cheap to fill them up. It used to be better service, better sit down restaurant....and also If you have eaten the shawarma 2 years ago, it was so much better than what it is today and I can say that for alot of other menu items. Placed an order online at about 10:45pm and planned to pay cash. It said it would take about 45 minutes. I gave up on the food after waiting an hour and a half and just cooked myself dinner instead. At 2:45am my phone rings, "I will be at your house in 3 minutes come down and be ready to pay." I explained I didn't want the food and had placed the order 4 hours ago. At this point he absolutely flips out. Screaming at me "Why do you order food if you cant pay?!?!" over and I over. I tried to explain to him that the money is still on my coffee table but I waited 4 hours and that's not my fault. He then screamed "F*** you" at me a few times and hung up. He then called me back 5 minutes later to restart the same conversation. And with even more "F*** you" and "don't order if you cant pay" being screamed at me, it was my turn to hang up. I've never had anything quite so rude happen to me involving a restaurant before. The last time I walked into Azama, I struck up a conversation, as is often unavoidable, with one of the employees. I told him that Azama, for me, is always one of the best reasons to be back in Boston. He asked me where I was from and I replied "Virginia." He had never been and asked what it was like, so I gave him the shpeel: "It's really beautiful, rivers, trees, mountains, etc. etc." He smiled and bluntly said, "It sucks right?" and of course, I answered 'Yes, for any 20 something, almost 90% of the time Virginia sucks.' To get to the point, Azama, and everyone who works in his restaurant is HONEST, and so is everything they do: their ingredients are top notch, their prices are fair, and they are always ready to give you honest opinion or advice whether it be on your meal choice or finding the meaning of life. read more

This place is awesome! Just started going here and wish I started sooner. So far I have had their chicken and beef kebob roll ups which are both delicious with an amazing blend of spices and fresh crunchy veggies made to order. I also had one of their minced meat pies which are a great snack, stuffed in a soft pastry. Their fries are so good, fresh, piping hot with spices that truly make them their own. The people who work there are so friendly and you can tell they take pride in this restaurant. It is very clean and they are constantly slaving over hot pots with smiles on their faces. I'm so glad I live right around the corner, I think I'll get some today! Oh yea, and the prices are awesome, don't forget to tip well, they deserve it!! read more

Late night food really doesn't get any better than this. Not that I wouldn't or don't go here during normal hours, but there's nothing I crave more at 2am that this place. SO. DELICIOUS. I just ordered some take out from Azama after reading some good reviews and I will definitely be a repeat customer. The employees were really nice and made pleasant conversation while making my food. One man behind the counter, the owner I believe, was speaking candidly with some other customers and I about how great things have been going since the opening and how they're trying to get delivery up and running ASAP. The place is quite small, I don't know if I'd recommend super large groups there. But the food is GREAT! I got the vegetarian combo plate, falafel, and grape leaves and they were all awesome. The prices are very reasonable as well. If you're skeptical of the good reviews this place has gotten then I encourage you to go eat there. The food is excellent, the staff are nice, the prices are good: no bullshit. Go to Azama, let the food do the talking, and you'll see for yourself how dope they are. read more

Maybe it's because I ordered from them at 11PM but since they're open until 2AM it didn't seem super unreasonable to have good food at that time. I got the chicken shawarma roll-up - super dry meat and not edible, egyption fries - also very dry and they forgot the mayo, and spinach pie - couldn't eat this either, the taste was so bland and purely just spinach no seasoning or anything else.
