Ine was beautiful and had good quality food but was incredibly pricey. The salad alone was $16 for a small portion, and although it was good, it wasn't justified for around a handful of salad greens. The "crispy tuna rice roll" was $14 for the 2 rolls. The handrolls itself were great quality -- it was better priced in comparison to the other food though. We also got the noodles with the additional sea bream, but the size of the sea bream was tiny: not worth the additional +$3 on the already $20+ noodle soup. The soup itself was clean and fresh tasting and was my personal favorite dish of the meal. Overall Ine was a great try with beautiful ambiance, but definitely a brunch spot with small bites!

Modern Japanese eats in a quiet neighborhood. Went for a weekend dinner. Quite a bit of street parking. Had an RSVP and was seated immediately. Ordered the following: - TH Tokubetsu Junmai (glass) - TH Junmai ginjo (glass) - fatty tuna brioche - sweet potato uni - tomato salmon - nori yellowtail - salmon hand roll - yellowtail hand roll - spicy tuna hand roll - toro hand roll - monaka - basque cheesecake Would say the appetizers and cold dishes were well made. The sauces of the salmon and yellowtail dishes hit well. The only dish I probably wouldn't do again is the sweet potato uni. It sounded good in theory since I like both ingredients, but together the texture was just a little too mushy. Was a little disappointed in the hand rolls. I think it's partly because they didn't have salmon belly or yellowtail belly available, which comes with the garnish / sauce that I was looking forward to trying. The rolls I ended up with were ok but didn't really have much flavor to them. The ratio of fish to rice wasn't great either. I do appreciate separating the nori though - keeps it crisp. The desserts were legit. I especially liked the monaka, which was like a lemon tart. The basque cheesecake was pretty darn good as well. As for the sake - def a difference between the junmai and ginjo - the ginjo is a lot more smooth. Overall - a bit disappointed in the hand rolls, but the cold dishes and dessert were excellent. Would come back for those.

crispy rice.. basically a sushi roll wrapped in a "crispy" toasted nori... there is no crispy rice at all

Saw ppl posting on tiktok the cold noodles & the seafood ravioli which looked very interesting, and we were disappointed that neither one of them were on the menu. The restaurant itself is nice and cozy. The staffs were attentive. But the food is just so-so. We didn't understand why they would leave the pickled ginger soaking in the soy sauce. And the rolls were served as DIY... kind'a gimmicky and doesn't make the dish any better. The crispy rice appetizer was not what we expected. There's no crispy rice... it's basically a sushi roll wrapped in a toasted nori which wasn't even that crispy.

Korean owed Japanese restaurant/bistro with Korean influences, what could go right? Plenty actually. Prices are decent for starters and the food? Well, we'll get into that soon. We got the sweet potato uni which surprisingly is an amazing pairing. The sweetness of the potato and uni complement each other well so you definitely gotta give it a try. The crispy rice was a nice crunchy treat with tuna that you almost wish you ordered double. Won't judge you if you did. The handrolls are fresh and the seafood even fresher so expect a good explosion of flavor with each handroll even though they run on the smaller side. The Ine noodles with sea bream were nice and refreshing and light. It almost gives a soba kinda of texture with the soup but also not really? Hard to explain, better to just order it and enjoy it. It's a nice finish and palate cleanser after all the other orders you ate beforehand. The overall vibe is more bistro than restaurant though, nice and cleanly decorated in a smaller space but you're still gonna enjoy your meals here! If you're a Resy or Amex Platinum card user, this is a fantastic spot to dine at and since it's relatively new, there's not too much of a crowd yet so come and eat here while you can before IG and tik tok popularize it!

Ine invites its patrons to indulge their pallets with clean, proportioned and visually pleasing presentations of their menu. If you're open to trying a new approach to Japanese cuisine, give Ine a visit. The service was attentive and well versed in offering suggestions to combine drinks with plates. On this visit we tried the oysters -- fresh! Ramen that was smooth and not potent; very different to other broths that we've had whose distinct flavors and textures are familiar. Hand rolls were beautiful in presentation and taste. Overall -- enjoyable !

Came here on a Friday with a reservation. It's nice inside and would be a good date night spot! We ordered: - Fatty Tuna Brioche - Hand Roll (Spicy Tuna, Unagi, Salmon, Scallops) - Ravioli - Basque Cheesecake The fatty tuna brioche was pretty good! I liked the sweetness of the bread with the soft tuna. The hand rolls were all so delish and I like that we can assemble them ourselves with the nori. My favorite was the salmon and the unagi. The ravioli was sooo good, I haven't tasted anything like they before! The texture of the ravioli was great, loved the seafood in it and the broth was bomb. Okay the cheesecake. At first I was questioning it because it looked...small. But honestly? That's all you needed because it was so rich and creamy! The lime cream on top was yummy. Excited to try other things on the menu!

Ine is a Japanese fusion restaurant that opened in late 2025, and it felt like a local gem I kept seeing pop up all over social media. I was excited to try it and booked a reservation for opening time on a Saturday. The inside is intimate, tables are quite close together, and the space felt pleasant overall. Service was friendly enough and very attentive. We ordered a lot of individual items and I was genuinely worried about fitting everything on our tiny table, but they cleared empty dishes almost instantly. Unfortunately, while I feel like Ine has potential, the food fell incredibly short. There were a couple highlights, but with the pricing combined with portion sizes and the actual flavor (or lack thereof) of some dishes, it's difficult to give a glowing review. We ordered: - uni sweet potato ($16)--interesting concept but very poor balance. there was a truly overwhelming amount of sweet potato puree, and this is coming from someone who loves sweet potato - 2 regular oysters ($8)--a fine shigoku, nothing particularly special from the nori ponzu - 2 "burnt" oysters ($10)--also a fine shigoku, lightly seared with a richer feel from the tarragon butter - tomato salmon ($18)--I rarely call food bland, but this was bland. the tomato water needs help because our tomatoes are just not good enough to use straight up. came with capers, tomatoes, chives, and herb oil - tangerine bluefin tuna ($22)--much better, with a nice tanginess from the tangerine sauce. similar ingredients otherwise, swapping the tomato for blood orange - salmon HR ($7.50)--one sashimi-sized piece of salmon - bluefin tuna HR ($8)--one sashimi-sized piece of bluefin that was pretty meh - hotate HR ($8.50)--two smallish scallops, but at least there were two - amaebi HR ($9)--best value and flavor by miles. the bite with the aioli was delicious - uni HR ($14.50)--I don't know what happened here but this uni was BITTER. it was forgotten and brought at the end of the meal, and after one bite I gave the rest to my husband - salmon skewer ($7.50)--perfectly cooked piece of salmon with green onion, simple but delicious - hotate skewer ($11)--two small scallops, also cooked nicely - unagi skewer ($9)--lukewarm, tender but not crispy at all, and I didn't care for the sweet red wine sauce - kurodai / black sea bream ($30)--also perfectly cooked with crisp skin, beurre blanc, shaved fennel salad, and roasted hakurei turnips. there was this awkward thick half slab of charred lemon that was too thick to be a garnish and the wrong shape for squeezing The carpaccios were kind of a letdown? The ingredients between the two were very similar, just had a different base sauce and fruit. Would've been fine if we had only ordered one. Also, don't let the name "hand roll" fool you, these are basically nigiri portions of fish with slightly more rice and a nori sheet. The weirdest part to me was how the salmon and bluefin came with one thin slice for around $8, but you get two whole amaebi for $9. The amaebi even tasted relatively freshly dispatched, still retaining that slight translucency and crunchiness of live shrimp. None of the skewers actually came with skewers, they just cook it on a skewer and serve the meat (just a note). I usually don't eat lunch before dinners like this because I get full fast and want to try lots of food. Felt like a total glutton ordering as much as we did, and I reluctantly added the kurodai at the end. I thought about getting the Ine noodle too but decided against it because I was worried it would be waaay too much food. That... was not a problem because I left kind of hungry :( Imo it's only worth coming here if you want to try the cooked dishes. The raw ingredients didn't taste super premium or ultra fresh outside of the amaebi and scallop. Save your HR appetite for your favorite sushi restaurant instead.

Ok, so the food is really closer to 5 stars, but the overall experience really knocked things down. We had a reservation for 7pm, and when I showed up, the rest of the party was standing outside cause they were not able to seat them yet. The place is tiny, so the party at a table for 4 was still there. About 7pm, the party left and the staff let us know that they'd seats as soon as the table was cleared. Cut to getting seated, we learned that they were short staffed and the big menu items were either sold out already or not available. We started with a handful of items first to see how it went. While we waited, it got really cold because I seemed to sit in the apex of all the ac vents . Food came and everything was delicious. We added another dish, then decided to do dessert so we wouldn't be too stuffed. Even the ice cream was delicious. Fair warning though, friends hubby definitely needed to stop for something to eat on the way home. Overall, we probably be back, but wouldn't make a special trip out just for them. Parking Street only, the lot behind them is not actually for them, so park at your own risk.

Every dish we had was excellent. The only real issue was how many items they'd sold out of by 8 pm on a Saturday. Literally 5 items that we wanted were sold out. 2 more that the table next to us wanted. Pretty ridiculous. But, everything we did get, we loved. Fresh, flavorful, and unique. Limited, but good sake. Service was friendly. For me, the space wasn't extremely comfortable. Kind of cramped and loud, we were lucky we got a table away from the servers zipping by at a frenetic pace. Would definitely return, but we'd only go early to avoid the disappointment of so many sold out dishes.

Really good innovative food at a good price point. I think the flavors here are very unique and tasty in most of their dishes. I don't think I've had such imaginative japanese korean inspired fish dishes before, and definitely would love to try more! Atmosphere and service is also very good and makes for a great date night spot

Wanted to be adventurous and try a new restaurant in my old hometown. This restaurant is Japanese fusion tapas which is interesting, not common for Highland Park. Obviously the plates are small but the portions were even smaller (don't use such big plates when serving small portions), very disappointing. Most of the plates had subtle flavor, but honestly, some needed a little something else to give it life! From everything we ordered, the only item I really enjoyed was the Unagi! To me, all the other items were just okay! We have tried other tapas restaurants before and sadly, this one was disappointing. Sadly, we walked out, not feeling satisfied at all! I'm still trying to figure out for what we paid, doesn't equal the amount of food we got!! On a positive note - customer service was outstanding and on point on all level levels!

The food was definitely good, but it didn't necessarily stand out from other Japanese spots. What they do offer is higher quality, slightly elevated versions of the standard Japanese dishes you can usually find elsewhere. I really liked the simple indie/hipster Japanese aesthetic of the restaurant -- it had a clean and relaxed vibe that made the experience enjoyable. The service, while friendly and accommodating, seemed a bit overwhelmed during our visit. You could tell they were short staffed since nearby tables had dirty plates sitting there for quite a while, which made things feel a little awkward. Still, the waitress did the best she could and remained attentive throughout. One thing I genuinely enjoyed was the hand roll setup. The seaweed was served separately so you could assemble it yourself with the rice and meat, which made it interactive and fun. They also served a toasted rice tea that was surprisingly really good and paired well with the meal. Small touches like that helped make the experience more memorable. Overall, it's a good spot and worth trying at least once, especially for date nights or casual outings. Personally, I don't see myself coming back often, but I can definitely understand why other people would.

Love how cozy this store feels! I came here for lunch and overall I had a good experience. Ine noodles were good but nothing stood out to me in particular, but the handrolls were really unique in terms of the toppings which was a nice change, and the fish was very fresh! Overall a nice place to try out. I definitely want to try their dinner menu next time as well.

It's super clean but without feeling steril. When we sat down, we noticed a nice woman with her mom who was celebrating her 95th birthday and we sat next to them. They were both very sweet and mentioned the items they got and how good everything was. We basically mirrored their dishes and were not disappointed by our choices. Generally, when you're at a Thai restaurant, you can't go wrong when you take advantage of suggestions given to you by two beautiful Thai people. We started off with an appetizer called "Gold Rush" which are 6 crispy, yet chewy wontons that are cooked until golden and then the dipping sauce was a tangy soy vinaigrette which I initially wished had not been taken away with our plates when we were done but any concern I had was soon forgotten when the other dishes came out because everything was so well seasoned that I never once thought, "I wish I still had some of that dipping sauce". We ordered the Laab Chicken which I always crave because so many Thai restaurants don't serve it. But Spice Season offers it and that might have been my favorite dish. I always order it without the rice powder because I don't like the powdery ground rice. I think it's a distraction from everything else in the dish. Our server didn't blink an eye when I asked that it not be included. Next, we ordered the Pad Thai. It was delicious. The noodles are thinner rice noodles (like angel hair) than what I have typically experienced (more like the size of linguini) but I loved the dish overall, would not change a thing and will definitely order it again. Blazing Basil Beef was the next dish that came out. The beef was super tender that night but it did not heat up well the next day. It got tough, even though I heated it up using a very low microwave power setting. This was in no way a reflection on how they cooked this dish because it was perfect when it came out. I will try the Heaven Scent next time or Spice Season Steak in lieu of Blazing Basil but that is not to say I would never order it again - far from it - but we are excited to try other dishes as I have noted further below. Rounded everything out with the Pineapple Fried Rice which I crave just as much as Laab but I'm usually nervous to try it because so many times the rice doesn't have any flavor, or not enough pineapple juice but not the case here! It was delicious! D'oh! I forgot to mention the Matcha Cheesecake which was heavenly. It took me several days to finish that off and unlike the Blazing Basil, it held up fantastically in the fridge for the next few days which is how long it took me to finish it off. Honestly, everything we tried was incredibly fresh, bursting with different flavors and cooked the way we enjoy our Thai food. We were not rushed, and the person who took our order said that we had ordered plenty of food which I appreciated - we do tend to over-order but that's because we eat the leftovers but I thought it was nice that she gave me the "that's probably enough" sign. Last thing I will mention just to help others on the spicy scale, we love our Thai food spicy. I read some reviews where people said the food was not spicy enough. We told our server that we like spicy and that we would leave it up to her - she said that everything would be a 4 out of 5 on the spice scale and while it was perfect for me, my husband thought it was just a tad too spicy but I think he's just out of practice. ;) We will probably go with 3 out of 5 next time, unless I'm alone. Then I would go back to 4 on the spice scale! I'm excited to try the Papaya Salad, Lime Steak Salad, Tom-Yum Fried Rice, Heaven Scent, and Lemongrass Soup. They definitely have a wide variety of food offerings, including things I've never heard of or seen. Something for everyone!
