Had lunch with a friend on a Friday and the place was fairly busy. Sat in the bar area, which was a good choice to avoid foot traffic and noise. Based on a scale of 1-5 stars, with 5 being outstanding, my review is as follows: Location: 2, Parking is limited and challenging. Facilities: 4, clean modern design, functional, with patio seating. Miyagi's has been my go to lunch spot for the past 10 years and for good reason. It is conveniently located near my office, easy to call in an order, and my food is always ready within 15 to 20 minutes. The restaurant is locally owned and was fully remodeled within the last year and the update is tasteful and modern. The staff is consistently welcoming and friendly. I have never had trouble finding a seat, and even when it gets busy at night, there is always bar seating available. My go to order is the salmon bento box lunch special. You get two proteins and I always choose double salmon. It comes with rice, salad, two pot stickers, and miso soup. It always fills me up and I usually even have an extra piece of salmon to take home. Their teriyaki sauce is also amazing! I have dined in for sushi as well and it is always fresh and flavorful. Honestly, it beats Mikuni's any day. I will absolutely continue coming here for salmon and sushi! read more

My go to sushi spot has always been Makuni's but this little hole in the wall has great fresh sushi rolls my favorite is the dragon roll never disappoints. I love that they give you edamame for the table. I personally think is a nice touch. Is also a plus they have a full bar menu. My go to drink here is always a moscow mule. The service is fast all the staff are super nice and the ambiance has a down to earth feel. read more

Best Beloved and I used to go here often when we wanted to get good sushi and good service. After our last visit we will not be returning. When we arrived, the dining area was nearly empty. The bar area didn't have very many customers yet we waited about 15minutes to be seated. Once we were seated it was another 15minutes before we were even brought water. A table near us a couple was seated after us, yet they were brought water and had their order taken before we ever even got our water. Another 10-15 minutes before our server returned to take our order. I ordered the rainbow roll, Best Beloved ordered a different roll and the chicken sandwich. It took 25minutes to bring our food to us. By the time our food got to us, neither of us was hungry. We managed to get the rolls into us, and that was it. I had to stop the young man that was filling everyone's water and ask for the bill. By the time our server returned, the couple at the other table had been given their bill, paid and left before we even got our bill. She gave us our bill. $60. I tipped $3 on a $60 bill Because the service was so bad that we will never return. At some point, someone thought the place needed to be redecorated.. they should have left it alone. The interior decor is bleak and depressing. There is a long Bench along one wall with tables set up along that bench. This isn't a diner. This place used to be classy. read more

Finally had a chance to eat at Miyagi Bar and Sushi. It was spectacular, let me tell you about it! Dropped in around 7:30pm with my lady. We were quickly seated at a table. The decor consisted of colorful paintings and soft lighting. The restaurant was full of people, families and couples alike. We were seated near the sushi bar which was away from the alcohol bar which had a lively crowd. There were TV's all over the place which had the sports games on. There were plenty of waiters and waitresses who were attentive and really nice and showed us around the menu. We chose to start off with stuffed mushrooms and gyoza. While I've had better gyoza I won't lie and say we didn't finish it all, lol. The real highlight of our entire meal was the crab stuffed mushrooms. My lady said they tasted like heaven and she wasn't exaggerating! The crab was so tasty, the sauce that topped these had a small kick to it and added to the overall flavor without overpowering it. Each bite had a perfect crunch thanks to the breading followed by the soft fresh mushrooms. I can tell you now we will be back solely for these. The main course arrived some time after completing our appetizers. Food service here was a bit slowed but it was expected since the restaurant was nearly at capacity. The quality of the food kept us patient. We split the crunchy roll and also the katsu chicken dinner. Both were amazing and although we loved it we kept saying how silly it was we waited so long to finally try Miyagi given how long it's been around and how amazing all the dishes were lol. I absolutely loved the crunchiness of the panko breading on the juicy katsu chicken and the sauce paired really well with the meat. The broccoli tossed with the onions brought out a nice flavor we weren't used to considering broccoli is one of our favorite sides at home. The crunchy roll was huge! The fried shrimp was so tasty. I would order it again but I'm also excited to try more rolls such as the Drake and the Torch roll recommended to us by our waiter. The menu here is deep and diverse, I definitely see more visits in the future. They also mentioned they show all the Sacramento King's games on their TV's! I love that. read more

I've looked at this restaurant for many years but never ended up going inside until today. It was a nice ambiance, pretty empty at 5:00 on a Sunday. I thought that the food tasted pretty good, although the sushi rice in my nigiri was falling apart and so I think it could have used a little more vinegar. I would say that this is a good place to take a date for a casual dinner, but it stressed me out to see the families eating here just imagining what their bill would be! read more

Miyagi is the best. I have been going there for 15 +y ears and the food has been so consistent. The new setup looks great and anyone who complains about it being different should get with changes or maybe start going to all you can eat restaurants. Their nigiri and sashimi is the best. The rolls are always awesome and I drive out of my way for the teriyaki salmon. All the sauces are on point and I love they're refreshing menu items. Unfortunately I spent money on two lackluster rolls here and it took more than 20 minutes after I finished to wait for a server to take payment. I had to ask the sushi chef I should just leave without paying! He even had to wait for 1/ 4 servers to get me my check. Awful service on the wait staff will not return. Bento Box was delicious my compliments to the chef, service was excellent even though for early lunch only 2 waitstaff, few tables were occupied when we arrived, within 30 minutes a stream of people arrived. Went to miyagi last night, and I don't remember my actual servers name because she was never really there but Max was a server in training that picked up her slack. He was asking all the right questions and was very attentive. He made sure we always had a delicious skinny margarita, and verified that are food was to our liking as well. The chriashi bowl here was so good. I loved every bit of it, but most especially the salmon and shrimp were tasty and full of so much flavor. This is definitely your local sushi bar which I personally love. I have family in the area and we always suggest going to Miyagi's when we are all together. The service is always friendly and attentive once you walk in. Sometimes you will have a wait but this past Sunday, we were able to sit right away. Shared parking lot. Clean interior. Not too busy at lunchtime on a rainy day. No masks and no hand sanitizer dispensers from what I could see. The service was fine. Our server and another staff member came around two or three times to check on us and refill our water. The Kinder roll was good. The house sauces on top gave it a slight kick. It's not an authentic sushi roll, but the tempura chicken in the middle was crispy and juicy. The menu is simply designed and straightforward; without any pictures, nothing stands out. The charm of Miyagi was a great bar ran by Cary and Dan with amazing service, good food and fun familiar music. Unfortunately that was not the case last night. It was our first night back since the remodel. Is the remodel nice? Yes and no. Bar looks outstanding yes, but the seating surrounding the bar, is high top seating which is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. If you are over 6 feet tall you will be fine. But for the rest of us, your feet hang and fall asleep. (It's not a good look getting into those type of chairs either.) We arrived a little after 6:00 pm and sat outside at first then and moved inside due to the heat around 6:45 pm and didn't receive our meal until 8:50 pm!!! They were very busy, yes. And normally we don't mind waiting because the beer is cold and the music is great. But last night the Beer was warm and the food was cold. And don't get me started on the new choice of music. You cannot carry on a conversation with the new annoyingly loud music. It sounded like a cheap playlist with no named artists. Who changed the music and why? And why so loud? Are they trying to reach a younger crowd? (A younger crowd is not gonna be OK with our usual $400 tab for dinner and drinks.) But what do I know?? I wish them well. But the new changes are not for us. read more
