Love coming to Azteca. I've been coming here for years and years. The food is always super delicious with great prices along with everything Elvis and the bar is always fun with great drinks. I have only one complaint that I never noticed until I went there with my beautiful wife. She loves horchata and that's usually a standard at all Mexican restaurants. Food was very good but the wait time was horrible we had to wait 1 hour even though we had a reservation. The party that we were waiting to leave was finished and had been there for 3 hours and Ethel entire staff was nervous about asking them to leave . Very restaurant has a 2 hour policy for big parties get the manager was scared to ask them leave even though they were completely done and were no longer eating . We were never offered drinks or appetizers while we waited unless we hustled dine a waiter for water or chairs to sit while we waited but other than that at least the food made up for it read more

The food is on point! 2 words: GARLIC SAUCE. So delicious! The homemade chips were fresh and perfectly cooked. The salsa was extremely flavorful. The carne asada was good quality and had the perfect char flavor without being over cooked. Lots of fresh lettuce on the tacos. The breading on the fish taco was quite thick so I wasn't a fan because I like to be able to taste the fish and the broth in the albondigas soup was extremely salty so we will skip those items next time. The service was friendly and attentive. The decor was fun and our booth was very comfortable. You absolutely should spend the extra dollar for a side of garlic sauce and put it on EVERYTHING! My first visit here and ive gotta admit it was unique. My friend told me all about this place because she enjoys the karaoke here. Decided to check it out on a Saturday night. First thing I see is Elvis on the balcony about the entrance and through the front door I see a Elvis statue. The area is pretty nice, street parking can be a challenge depending on what time you get there but there is parking across the street. Inside was Elvis galore. Everywhere you look there's Elvis. It w as pretty cool. Even had some specialty drinks named after the King himself. The servers were on the ball. Discovered pretty much any server can take your order and help you out. It got crazy busy the night I was there. The only thing I didnt like was we were there at 8pm, karaoke began at 9 and my friend put in her songs early as soon as the KJ allowed it. Yet she didn't get to sing until 11pm. She was told they had 31 prior request before hers....impossible there weren't 31 people in the place when we got there. Seemed to favor the big party in front. When my friend confronted the KJ that he was calling up people that had already sang once and she hasn't been called up at all and itd been 3 hours. I felt that was favoritism. But that was my only complaint. We all drove quite always to check out the karaoke and to not be able to sing until 3 hours into the evening was a bit ridiculous. Then sh3 was told there was a rotation of nearly 30 before our table would be up again so we just walked out. As for the food, the food was good. Lots of different nachos to choose from and house specials. The owner made her rounds to greet as many patrons as she could she was very nice. We asked about alcoholic beverage and was told that they were not serving them at this time, but saw another table get wine. We really do enjoy this establishment! The food is good and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is unique in that it's a walking shrine to a Elvis but there is so much to look at that even if you're not an Elvis fan, you will appreciate the memorabilia. We go most often on Saturday nights for dinner and karaoke . Some days it's packed but other times it's not so much- the key is to come before Karaoke starts and eat then stay for the entertainment as drinks. They stop serving a regular menu at like 9 or 10 but then they have a small appetizer menu and of course drinks. Regardless the food is good and we have always had exceptional service. read more

Don't be fooled this is not "the Azteca" it's a knock off. Never in my entire life been served fajitas not sizzling on a skillet. This was the first time they brought out the food on a plate and it was not even steaming. I couldn't even chew 70% of the meat and I asked for it extra well done and it came out rare and red. The chips were completely drowned in salt you could barely taste the tortilla and they give you this tiny little serving of salsa you need 3 to equal a normal size. lol So unnecessary to completely cover every chip with so much salt. It took me nearly 10 years to return to Azteca and I was sorely disappointed. I drove up from San Diego and my girl down from LA County. Firstly, what happened to the Elvis music? Only 1 television was playing clips and the volume was turned down. The other television had sports and yet another had a view of the outside empty tables. We started with the cheese nachos. The refried beans were straight from a can, the cheese oily and matted on the chips. After a few bites we asked Alfonso, our server, to take them away. I stated, "These are terrible! Do you think these are good nachos?" Alfonso nodded his head No. We then asked about other items on the menu upon his return. Every option had those awful canned beans. Black beans were not an option. Asked about the fish tacos and he nodded his head No, in the vain of don't order. He explained they were breaded. That means they're not fresh but frozen. A cheese enchilada was ordered Ala cart with green sauce and upon Alfonso's recommendation a Chile verde burrito. Enchilada was served and no joke, the green sauce tasted like La Victoria, canned. My Chile verde burrito was good. I asked for no beans and I can only assume it improved the taste. Alfonso was awesome! He was honest and kept us happy with Margarita's. The drinks were the best part! $68 later, nachos were still on the bill, we moved to the Lounge. Again, no Elvis but instead loud Club music mixed with 90s Rock & Roll. I remember this being an Elvis restaurant ‍ Alex the Bartender was great! Pumped us with Martinis and Old Fashions. The Bar bill was $42 for 4 drinks . The drinks and staff are the best thing about Azteca. Mexican food is not hard to make great! Its always surprising to me when it's bad. With so many superb Mexican food locations in the southland I will not be returning. Put a little effort into some recipes, make it homemade and you've got a winner. JJ! This Bar & Eatery, is one of our faves...is the "casual side" of the venue. The focus is food, drinks and karaoke or live band. We enjoy the karaoke, because great singers come out during car shows, they all always show up here! Some are pros, some semi-pros, but nearly all are way more talented and pleasing to the ear than the typical corner bar! Very nice change. It is Friday nights now, there is a show that is dancing and cultural costumes found throughout Mexico's states and history and plus who do not like Elvis on a Friday night. (We saw a similar show years ago at the theater/restaurant.) Cultural history is presented here, and we enjoy learning at all times. FOOD: the food is/was delicious! Great fresh salad bar, including fresh guacamole, entrees so tasty, the carnitas was the highlight for me, but also beef, chicken mole, fish. All were very good! Deserts were yummy. Gotta try there chicken wings. Love it. Margaritas & beer were ordered non-stop and whatever you order, you can't go wrong as you hang back and listen to jukebox tunes. Servers were so friendly, courteous, attentive! Only mens'? A good time was had by all and for $46. USD per person! Karaoke session followed. I came with my lunch mate right before 1:00 to get in standing room only line which is during annual Elvis Festival. It was very loud and packed of course so I put name on list to the host and waited about 30 minutes. Bartender let me have a small glass of water and I took pictures while waited. Name was called to sit, for menus and took drink order my pink lemonade. I ordered two beef tacos combo while Sarah ordered six chicken wings as appetizers supposedly and Mexican pizza as entree. Lady sat next to us said didn't care for the items she ordered. All our food arrived 30 minutes later including appetizer. Wings came with buffalo sauce and ranch which was very good so was everything else. Chips and salsa were complimentary once again good. Had one refill and server did his best under very cramped, noisy and hot inside. Hope to finally try their speciality next year when I have extra time and money. If you are an Elvis Presley fan, you have to come and check out this restaurant! This little restaurant is located in the historical area of Garden Grove, right off of Main Street. It is so uniquely decorated. Every piece of Elvis Presley memorabilia is everywhere you look. The ceilings are framed with pictures and lights, there isn't one space left on the wall where you can hang another picture. In the month of August they have outdoor concerts where Elvis impersonators put on a great show. My family members have been going there for years. If you're looking for a great outdoor concert, you'll have to bring your family, and your own chairs and just watch the Elvis impersonators put on a performance that is quite impressive. I went there with two family members today. I went with the chicken salad which was delicious. I love how they Shred the chicken on their salad. My cousin, and Aunt, chose to go with the chicken wings and a small dinner salad. There are just so many great photo opportunities, I found myself lost in a great moment. I think the funniest thing for anybody that has a sense of humor, is when you use the restroom, the women's restroom has all of these old time movies and pictures of titles with very funny sexual innuendos. It really makes you connect with the owner of this place, that collected this for so many years, and what a funny sense of humor he, or she, has. I believe that the men's restroom must also be decorated just the same. Hilarious. I went on a Friday night with a friend. We were going to the Gem theatre down the street for a great show (review to be posted under their name). I hadn't been to Azteca for a few years. The food wasn't that good. But they were close. Even with the car show, we were seated right away. We were given chips and salsa right away but it took the waiter a few to come to the table. The chips were crispy and warm and the salsa was flavorful but not hot, both were delicious. The menu has lots of variety. We didn't want to over eat and each picked the Mexican pizza. OMG, it was delicious! Big chunks of chicken breast, an excellent red sauce and plenty of cheese. Even better, the flour tortillas on top and bottom were crispy! It was huge too, and only 12 bucks. Dinner for two with 4 drinks and soft drinks was only 60 bucks. What a deal. I'll be going back soon to check out the delicious looking tacos and tostadas too. read more

They have a sidewalk dining area which is cool - great for people watching on Main Street. I always get a beer, and I believe they have a full bar. Service and staff have been good. So very sad. This used to be our go to for Mexican fare in Garden Grove for over 20 years. Now not so much. We went last night and we left so disappointed and now today, it's even worse. We have heard that it has changed owners again. Our waiter was obviously new and didn't get the order right. Sloshed soup on the table. The chips were not as fresh as we have come to expect. The salsa was very thin. My chile relleno came without sauce and was meh. My daughter wasn't nuts about hers either and I used to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them here. All three of us agreed, our beloved Azteca has gone. Some strangers are putting out lesser food and service. Today, my stomach is not good and I'm pretty sure it was last night's dinner. Was expecting more than I thought until I walked in. My gf insisted on coming here for the happy hour, but in reality we probably came here for the wrong happy hour since we came here for eating and this place is probably better for drinking. We only ordered water and some wings to start ya off. When we got the wings we got an extra 2 plates but when I grabbed one of the plates to my surprise it wasn't even cleaned. With beans and a piece of jalapeño on the plate it was clearly not cleaned. Making me question the whole hygiene of the establishment. I did not want to eat here any more so we didn't order anything else and just ate the wings paid for them and left. With the wings being cooked properly they get a star, but as far as the pricing for the happy hour, not so much. We would have had a much better outcome going elsewhere. read more

So close to home and liked true Elvis theme. First and last time ever going. They ignored me and my husband. Took 15 minutes to seat us and 20 minutes to take our order. They kept walking right by use and helped others. Never said we will be with you. No eye contact at all. Maybe we were not the young under 40 partying drinking routine people. I know some people that love it there but they do a lot of drinking only. I don't know why we even stayed but it became a joke to see how long they can ignore us.
