Been coming here for more than 25 years. Food is consistetly tasty, with large portion sizes. and good variety on the menu. I especially love the red sauces. It's not the most stand out and remarkable Mexican food out there but the mom and pop, nostalgic vibe and the price and portions are really what make this location shine. I came here for lunch during a conference that I attended. Plenty of parking since it's in a low key plaza. During lunch time on a weekday there were a couple tables there as well, but nothing super packed. LOTS and LOTS to look at on the walls, honoring the various community members and others who have served, as well as the many news articles and awards that the restaurant and owner have been celebrated with. Apparently the restaurant feeds the community during Thanksgiving and we don't see that as often nowadays, so that's great to see. Actually, what was really cool is that the owner still visits the restaurant, greets the customers and I saw him compliment and hype up one of the workers. Good stuff and we love to see it. Service was attentive but once it got a bit busier, it was a bit harder to flag down our waiter but no matter. I got their weekday special, Texas enchiladas. Not sure what makes them Texan, aside from maybe the size, but they're solid standard enchiladas. Lots of beans, rice, and cheese, a dollop of whipped cream and guac. Been here twice. The first time was months ago. I ordered my food and everything was good. No complaints. I took some albondigas soup home and it was great the next day too! The second time I went, I ordered the texas toastada with ground beef and the person I was with ordered the chicken. Both were terrible and inedible. The filling of the tostada was WET and SOUPY. Maybe water from the lettuce or grease from the ground beef? The ground beef was squishy and seemed undercooked. Flavor was good though. The chicken was rubbery, chewy, and tough. I walked (1.3mi) into this place after a recommendation from hotel staff. I HATE to give this place a low score because I believe it CAN be better! I ordered the Barbacoa, the portions were rather large (a little stingy with the tortillas though), but the meat (while tender and perfect texture) was very bland. I knew I was in trouble when I saw the bottles of Tapatio sauce on the tables. Like seriously? I'm not Mexican or nothing, but you are NOT invited to the Carne Asada!!! This is a go-to when we are in Disney and our recent pick-up order hit the spot after the long drive from Norcal. Both dishes were delicious and full of flavor. But I was impressed with the speed of the service and the efficiency of getting the food out in a timely manner. A group of us (20-25) had dinner here this past Saturday night. While the staff and atmosphere was pleasant, several of ordered the 'Mex/Pizza". The size was impressive and price reasonable but it was the most tasteless, terrible Mexican food I've had in decades. The meat (ground hamburger) was mushy and it was about as bland as mashed potatoes. No freshly made salsa on the tables, and even after pouring what was available and adding salt, it was still awful!!! Trying a new restaurant. It's 4pm and still lunch half price specials are great! I started with an appetizer. Shrimp ceviche. Great portion and only $7. Then for the main course, I chose beef fajitas. I was expecting a small potion and plate. I was wrong. The portions are big ! Highly recommended! The food is fresh, super tasty and delicious! The lunch menu was a decent size, and the prices weren't too bad. But that's where the positives ended. I ordered the lunch fajitas, which were served on a regular plate, not the sizzling platter you'd expect. This might be because it was a lunch portion but still was a bummer. It's always a good place to eat. The owners and workers are really nice and the food is delicious. Not a lot of parking during the day because of the other businesses. There's about 3 tv's and there really nice if you ask them to put it on a sport like Monday night football. You can also do take out. Today, I went Christmas shopping and decided to give it my business. I was stressed out and dejected over how much we (as a community) have been pushed away from each other.
