This place was ok. I can't give the best review of the food because unfortunately they were out of most things. I think I tried to order three things they didn't have. The food we did get was ok. Great guacamole and chips. Sliders were meh and kinda tased burnt. Carb cakes weren't bad. I'd like to come back maybe earlier in the day hopefully they have the stuff I want to try in stock. This food was not good. Overpriced and poor quality. The steak nachos tasted like Taco Bell. The cowboy burger was smothered in bbq sauce. They charge extra $8 if you order a drink neat (without ice) and that's not stated on the menu. Instead of 14 for a drink I was paying 22. Also a 3% surcharge and 20% gratuity. I came to their rooftop for a private event, so I didn't try the food. The outdoor space is nice, and the service was good. I felt the drinks were overpriced; the Bullet bourbon was $30 (but maybe this was due to the event...I also recall the tip being included as well.) I hosted an event at azul and it was the best decision I made! I closely worked with Karina. She's amazing! Very helpful and made sure everything went smoothly! She was pretty much a mini wedding planner! I am so grateful for her and for the customer service I received! The food was also delicious! The aguachile was one of the best I've ever had. The fajitas were also delicious! The restaurant decor was also very impressive! I am so glad I hosted my event here and will definitely be coming back. If I could leave this place negative reviews I would... my review is coming from my Uber Eats order... as I see other customers from uber have had the same issue. I ordered a $33 salmon that came as a 2 oz portion that looked like it was for a toddler out of the kids menu. My elote never came. And I ordered a shrimp ceviche that came with NO shrimp just tomato's and cucumber. I called and asked to speak to a manager and they refused to put the manager on the phone. We came here to celebrate Mother's Day. There were probably better options out there, but this is what my wife chose. Service was great at the beginning but it took awhile for us to get your check and pay. We were able to get seated right away. They offered us patio seating which we took, but then sat us down at a table basically in the parking lot. Personally, if I was a restaurant owner, I would cut that section off and not put tables there. Very unattractive and sets anyone up to have a terrible dining experience. The decor inside was nice though, probably should have just stayed inside on such a nice day. The food came out relatively quick and overall delicious. We ordered fried calamari. The breading had great flavor but fell apart quickly, it was served with chipotle aioli which was good. My wife ordered their Skirt Steak Entree. It came with salsa, rice, refried beans and tortillas. The skirt steak was cooked perfectly and tasted great. I ordered their Grilled Salmon. It came with a tequila honey glaze, topped with fire roasted salsa, and avocados and served with rice and garlic bread. This dish was really good. I didn't taste much tequila in the glaze but overall I recalled liked the sweetness in the glaze. It's definitely on the pricier side, but I wouldn't rule this place out. I was very excited to be back, we had tickets for Arabic night. Got hungry came down, very disappointed. It took 15 minutes for us to get water served. Got the food about 20 min in, food was good. But the service sucks. We haven't seen the young server lady since we ordered. We had to ask a guy in a maroon shirt to bring a small box and the check. We also had to ask for napkins and the check about 3 times. Could have honestly walked out and no one would have noticed. That's how bad service was. Currently writing this review and no server or check has come to the table. The taste of the food was fantastic. The arrachera was so soft and juicy and cooked perfectly. The rice and beans also had good flavor which was a pleasant surprise and the presentation was nice. I haven't had lobster in years and this was amazinggg the butter they use is just chefs kiss. The issue I had was the ceviche, $16 for a tiny little portion with barely any shrimp or lime was not it unfortunately. Giving us 3 little shrimps with it? Come on, at least 5 not even asking for the bowl to be surrounded. The ice cream as well was very good, the churros were warm; but same issue, it was tiny. I'm sure it's good business practice, but dang you guys are already charging $17 just for parking. The service was okay, not the best but certainly not the worst. The timing for the food wasn't long at all. The ceviche came out almost right away, entrees were delivered quicker than most. I guess it was just the staff that didn't feel all that enthusiastic about being there. The interior also felt kind of empty, I was expecting more blue for a place called azul, yes it did have blue color, but it needed more. Overall, Azul's food is exceptional, but the over pricing on everything and the less than stellar staff wouldn't make me want to return here for a special occasion. Came here for the Tuluminati Burlesque and I ended up walking out at about 9:20 and not because the event ended but because it was simply not up to standard and the venue was not a good venue for this(it's possible it would have been good on the rooftop but they held the Burlesque inside due to it being chilly). I go to one new experience every week and have over 26 concerts/shows planned for 2026 and THIS was the only thing I have WALKED OUT of. To start there was no organization with checking into the event they simply told people to wait in a specific spot until the event was ready so of course I ordered something form the bar(Mexican Candy Cocktail. Which was very good!) and waited. When they were ready there was no announcement just me noticing other people checking in. When I checked in (I spent +$50 for VIP seating) I was simply told to go to the bar and have a seat because that was "VIP seating" and of course there's not enough chairs for me. I flagged down a server for a high top bar chair. Some VIP treatment huh? I think it took to about 8:30pm before I even noticed the show started and they had a girl dancing on the stage. The girls moved around the venue but when there's people all around you can't really see much when they aren't immediately on front of you. You were also told not to move around when they had fire going so you were stuck in your spot. So it in all honesty was me just sitting there at the bar wondering why the hell I was still there sooooo, I wasn't. Out the door after paying for my drinks. I spent +$50 basically for the knowledge to never come here again for a paid event. If I happened to be in the area with a girl though I'd come in for a few Mexican Candy cocktails. read more

Azul is a Mexican/Seafood place & it is sooo good!!!! We were originally seated by the door on a freezing January night, but were told right away that once something opened up we could be moved. It only took about 10 minutes to move us & then we were seated right by a window facing the water, so our service started out amazingly! We ordered so much food for only 3 people. Our favorites were the mini lobster rolls. They on the most amazing, buttery, lightly toasted rolls with chilled lobster on the inside. Definitely a must have. I also love my ahi tuna taco that came on a lettuce wrap. It was seared (so not super raw like normal "ahi" tuna), which I was a fan of. The lettuce wrap made it feel fresh and light. I loved the guacamole too - avocado was super fresh and I was a huge fan of the thick tortilla chips. We also got the pozole soup - be warned it was SO SPICY. My friends with a very high spice tolerance could barely handle it. Crab cake was good, but nothing to write home about - I would order the lobster roll over the crab cake. The inside was upbeat and fun. Great place to come with a group of friends before going out. I can't wait to come back in the summer when it's nice out, so we can sit right on the water. read more

Azul Mariscos is located in the Goose Island neighborhood along the Chicago river. It's take on Latin-inspired seafood is done in a beautiful and tasty style. The night I decided to go was cold and rainy, but they greet you with a shot of alcohol when you first arrive. Because of health reasons I had to decline, but what a great way to get the night started if that's your thing! From the menu, we ate the Lobster Empanadas, Chilean Sea Bass, and Seafood Enchiladas. All absolutely delicious. The Chilean Sea Bass was phenomenal! The restaurant offers valet parking at $20, which can be convenient if there isn't any street parking available nearby. We went during a weeknight around 7pm. It wasn't crowded, but as we were beginning to leave, it was becoming more busy. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu. The ambiance is everything! It wasn't too busy when we went, so we enjoyed a large, comfy booth along the window, where we were able to gaze out on the Chicago River. The welcome drink of the day was a peach margarita. It was so tasty that I ordered it for my official beverage. I only needed 1 - these margaritas pack a PUNCH, but they're so flavorful. Queso Fundido: this isn't your average queso fundido. It had both shrimp and chorizo and was topped with avocado. It was rich but super delectable. We literally couldn't stop eating it. Lobster Empanadas: I have absolutely no words for how good these were! Typically, empanada dough can get gooey and mushy, but not this dough. It was warm and crispy and was perfectly stuffed with the lobster filling. I'm still kicking myself for not getting an order to go. Fried Red Snapper: the fish was perfectly tender and moist. You have your choice of garlic butter sauce or roasted tomato sauce. We got both, and I'm glad we did. Each sauce provided a different flavor for the fish, and we enjoyed both. Surprisingly/shockingly, the rice that came with the dish wasn't a throw-away - it was really good! I've been thinking about this food since my first-time visit. I cannot wait to return to Azul! I stopped by here last Saturday with a group of ladies. We were celebrating a mutual friend belated birthday. The vibe is much like a club in the sense of atmosphere. Loud hype techno type of music. The artwork outside is pretty cool. There was also a cute little swing out back. The food was just aliright along with the service from staff. Most of the bust boys didn't speak any English, which made it very difficult to communicate. However, the drinks were AMAZING! The right amount of alcohol to creep on you but not have you hung over. My wife and I stopped by here on a whim. We were out running an errand in the area after church, and I suggested possibly eating somewhere in the area. I remembered that Azul with relatively close. We drove up and were kinda taken by surprise that there was a parking/valet charge of $17.00 cash. Thank God we actually had cash on us to pay. Heck, we were already there and interested in the spot. We have passed this place many, many years coming and going to other places. I actually looked at them several years ago for take-out, glad I didn't. We were seated immediately at a table on the riverside. I took a couple of photos. We started with drinks; my wife: Mezcalite and I: Red Sangria Pomegranate. Both were VERY tasty and vibrant. Perfect for a nice and sunny day. The menu looked great, but we landed on Brunch. We started with the Lobster Empanadas (3 total). It was FANTASTIC!!.. Nice, tanned exterior, good crunch and tasty "meaty" interior. They weren't creamy at all! VERY-very good. My wife had Churro French Toast and egg breakfast. I had the tuna tartare and brunch tacos. DUDE..... EVERYTHING was great! I hadn't had tuna tartare in YEARS!.. This was nice, fresh, flavorful, just left me shaking my head good. My wife killed her Frech toast and egg breakfast and was JUST right afterwards. It all was nice and light, not heavy nor doughy at all. Full of flavor, like a nice hug. The tacos I had to make myself stop. I ended taking 1-1/2 home for later as the tartare was a nice portion. I even purchased a cup/container of their Pozole for later and for the week. IT SMELLED like heaven in a container. Let me tell you! By the time we both tore into the pozole, it was during the week for lunch to go with our salads. My wife hadn't even warmed it up yet and a co-worker walked into the kitchen as asked her, "What is that"? It smells sooooo good." I warmed mine up at work in the microwave and it had the whole kitchen area HUM-M-MING!!!!.... I tasted it on a spoon after stirring and yelled out "DA#!".... I TOE, not TORE, I TOE that soup UP!!! The food was great and tasty! The Rollo De Langosta Mini Lobster Rolls were my favorite!! The garlic bread buns for those are a great touch. The Queso Fundido was pretty delicious as well. Those are the two small plates/dishes I would recommend. The lobster and cheese empanada were okay. They were too heavy on the cheese and didn't have much lobster in them. The Shrimp Tacos were good, but nothing that blew me away. The Patron Margarita tower is $80 for 4 margaritas that are maybe worth $10 each at best. Like other reviews say, everything here is extremely overpriced. The restaurant is pretty spacious and had several tables available (~80% of the place was free) when I showed up, however, online they had no more availability for reservations, which also didn't take sense to me. My friend and I were not provided any menus and were expected to search for it on our phones. No QR code or link was provided. We were also not given any plates to eat on. We ordered several small plates and appetizers to share, but that doesn't seem like a good reason for us not to be given plates. We shouldn't have to eat everything over opened napkins. read more

This review isn't about the food but the staff: My friend and I were supposed to meet here before a concert for dinner and drinks. He arrived first and while I was speaking to him on the phone I heard the staff be very condescending towards him. We aren't sure if someone had booked the entire restaurant or if you had to be dressed a certain way to sit at the bar (he was wearing a button down, pants and boots) but the people at the door didn't let him in and didn't explain why. We decided to go to a different restaurant in the area and the staff there did tell us that they (azul) can be a bit shady. Apparently they were charging people for ice, be sure to check your receipt?!?! I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to trying them but this is Chicago and so many other options to try. read more

We came into Azul expecting a bit more than we got. We started with the cold seafood platter. The menu lists that the platter comes with cocktail sauce, mignonette, lime, hot sauce, and salt on the side, but none of these items came out. Instead it came with lemons. Not bad, but not what we expected. When we asked for the mignonette, our server seemed confused, and came back with the cocktail sauce. We asked again for the mignonette, and explained what it is. She came back once empty handed and said she was going to go grab it and be right back, then came back again and said they don't offer or make mignonette here. We asked her why it's on the menu, and she said she doesn't know, no one really orders the seafood platter. We could see why, as the platter itself was pretty disappointing for the price, and the oysters didn't seem fresh. Plus, by the time all was said and done with the non-existent mignonette, the ice had mostly melted so it just wasn't very appetizing anymore. This would've been pretty redeemable but it went on for far too long. The whole ordeal took at least an hour, and our server was clearly annoyed with us. By the time all was said and done, we decided not to bother with entrees. Maybe they were just having an off night, but we're not in a hurry to try again. read more

Wow wow wow! I admittedly was skeptical of trying out Azul because of all of the hype they've gotten on social media but let me tell you, THE HYPE IS REAL. Everything we had here tasted amazing, there were just 2 of us and we wanted to try a few things so we decided to order a bunch of starters/sides. We ordered the Aguachiles, calamari, and chipotle lobster Mac and cheese - EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. There was the perfect amount of heat to the aguachiles and lobster mac, enough to know it had a kick but nothing overwhelming. I just like a hint of heat while my partner likes her food as spicy as possible and we found that we were both happy with the heat level in the food. I would go back to by that by the gallons. So spicy and was able to dip it with anything. Tacos, oysters, bread, you name it. The service was very courteous too. It started to rain while we were eating on the rooftop so they brought us umbrellas and asked if we were okay, cheers to them. Overall, it was pricey but definitely would recommend this place! I was lucky to have been seated at the windows which overlooked the river and at night, it was a site!! The ambiance here was lively, with the neon lights, vibrant colors, murals and great music it was enjoyable dining experience. The service was attentive, and personable and the food was brought to our table in a timely manner. I loved the complimentary drink upon sitting. I have been here more than once and those complimentary drinks rotate which I think is pretty great! For drinks we ordered the Patron Margarita tower which was cool, trendy, and strong, It absolutely did the trick. I also wanted to try their White Peach Sangria and it was refreshing. I loved it For food, we ordered elote and lobster empanadas for started. The elote was pretty traditional and tasty but those lobster empanadas were DELICIOUS the perfect blend of cheese and lobster and the sauce on the side really added the character. Following we ordered tacos which were great in flavor, tender in meat and their stuffed pineapple. This stuffed pineapple was seriously next level. From the array of seafood (shrimp, lobster to the octopus,) to garlic cream sauce and cheese blend melted on top of the rice it was absolutely phenomenal! I loved loved my experience here. Azul is having a difficult time handling their menu. They ran out of several different mixers and could not offer some of the cocktails we were interested in. More surprisingly four of the items on the menu were out and we had to switch to different foods that we weren't that interested in. Worse yet they said that they just made the soup after the soup didn't come out for 30 minutes after the rest of the other food hit the table. Soup is something restaurants are making in the afternoon and is ready instantly. We don't think they were forthright with us. They did comp the soup off the Bill in their defense. Delicious! Can't believe I didn't know this gem existed prior to this week! I visited with 3 friends on a Tuesday. The only bad thing I have to say about this restaurant is parking. They have a $20 valet fee for a parking lot that's clearly only dedicated to their space. There is cheaper parking on the street but it's limited. Ok, so the food is what gave this place their 5 stars! In total we ordered: Fried calamari Lobster empanadas Red Snapper 7 seas soup Guava margarita Spicy mango margarita Chocolate lava cake And two salads ( they were huge) First off our waitress was amazing! She was super friendly and helpful while ordering. The guava marg was tasty but super sweet! I'll go with the spicy mango next time. My friend really enjoyed it and we have similar pallets. The fried calamari and lobster empanadas were amazing! Calamari was crispy and flavorful. And the empanadas had the perfect amount of lobster and cheese balance. I was super nervous they'd skimp on the lobster meat but nope! It was the perfect amount. For my entree I ordered the red snapper. It was a large fish! The skin was crispy and the flesh was flakey! I went here during restaurant week and although it was a long wait even with reservations they definitely made up for the entire wait with their delicious meal - we got 3 course meal for $55 plus we ordered drinks!! I do like the set up of this restaurant as they have a river view I'm sure it's great during summer or during daylight! I went at night so it was pretty cool inside with their decor and lighting! I was extremely happy and absolutely stuffed after our meal at Azul Mariscos. Craving seafood in a festive atmosphere? This is the place for you! Celebrating a birthday? A bridal shower or any other celebration? This is the place. We had been here before for a couple of events, but this is our first time actually dining in in the restaurant. In a brilliant marketing ploy, they gave us samples of Tamarind margaritas as soon as we sat down. Well, it worked, as we did order one of these along with a Pina agua fresca/pineapple water to drink. We started off with the fresh fried Calamari.  Served with grilled lemon and chipotle aioli (this was awesome) Pulpo a la Parrilla.  Grilled octopus basted in azul 9 spice butter (also very good) Marisqueso Seafood quesadia.  Crispy corn tortilla filled with lobster, crab, shrimp. Chihuahua cheese, avocado and nine spice creamy dipping sauce (this dish had way too much cheese on it,  it overpowered the seafood) Absolutely loved the paella!  Lobster, octopus, shrimp Thomas's green peas green pepper , muscle, green peas, green pepper, onion, served with Spanish rice and garlic bread.  This was my favorite! You can see from the expression on my face in the picture, just how much I enjoyed it! Don't forget to take a picture with the huge Azul sign in front of the restaurant, (like I did), it truly makes for a wonderful picture! I was lucky to check out this spot last weekend. This place was recommended by 2 awesome locals and boy did it delivered. The place is so beautifully decorated. Its cozy then yet large enough to enjoy yourself. The ambience was great, I think they had a Dj or just a really good playlist. Our waitress was pretty cool. Her name was Alondra. She kept checking on us since the moment we got our table. She kept the food and the drinks coming. The food though, look I never like Cod fish. Being from Hawaii, I saw they had Ahi Ceviche so I ordered. Unfortunately they were out of Ahi. However their chef was like- hold my fishing pole- and deliver the best Cod Ceviche I have had. I mean it was so good, I ended up ordering 3. We also tried their Oysters, the fresh ones were so good but the grilled ones were over the top delicious. The food was great, the music was great, the service was fantastic but the views just topped it all. They are right next to the river, so if you are out and about on your little yacht or boat, you can just park it right next to their little docking area and boom go eat. Came here for my birthday not long ago with my roommate and her mom. We came before it was even dark so no night club vibes like some of the other reviews noted. Drinks: They handed out mangonada marg samples and completely sold my friends mom. She loved it and ordered one for herself. It was wildly sweet but if you're a mango lover go for it! The Cantarito was a little watered down for me but looked beautiful if you enjoy esthetics. I had the Azularita Corona. Tbh not super memorable other than the looks and how big it was. I enjoyed the food overall. The paella wasn't my favorite. I didnt think it had as much flavor as id had at other spots. We copped oysters and their oysters with ceviche on top. The oysters were basic, served with lemon and tabasco and overall alright. Nothing special but not terrible. Id get them again but pass on the ceviche versions. It wasn't flavorful at all and ended up being watered down. Their carne asada was solid. Tender and went well with their rice and beans! Though I wish they gave more rice and beans. Came in search of tacos and crab legs and I was not let down. The place looks beautiful and busy. But we were still able to Valet and get a spot at the bar for 2. Leo was great! Oysters were delicious and flavorful and when I'm willing to pay the market price again I'm coming back for the crab legs. read more

I really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but I could not in good conscience given how awful the service was when we went. A friend and I went on a Sunday night and was greeted by the hostess, who seated us with a view of the river, which was nice! But, service went downhill from there. At least the server was friendly. We had looked at the menu prior to coming, so were quick to order our drinks and appetizer. Our appetizer beat our silverware and dishes to the table. Then, our cocktails beat the water to the table. We got 8 ounce glasses of water and that's all we got during our visit. No refills, even when we had asked. We had finished eating and paid and there still wasn't any water in our empty cups! The server came over very frequently, but it didn't seem to help with just the weird order everything came to the table. Atmosphere is like a Latin club in Miami, which was not what we expected, but it was interesting. Okay, time for the positives... So cool to start out the meal with an aperitif! We tried their cranberry sangria and it was delicious. I got the blackberry mojito and it's got the punch of rum without the boozy kick. Very refreshing. We decided get a few of their plates to share: - Lobster and Cheese Empanadas: I would come back for these alone. They were amazing. A good amount of lobster meat mixed with oozy, gooey cheese with crisp pastry and a chipotle spread on the side. So good. - Elote: not super special, but I just love Elote. - Ceviche Pescado: very refreshing with a bright kick a citrus! Although, I think there was more mango and fruit than cod in the mix, so that was disappointing. - Camarones (Shrimp): we ordered it spicy and!...it was overwhelming not spicy, so that was a huge bummer. The shrimp was good, we got it the azul style, but the promise for spice, especially from a Latin kitchen, just left us wanting something more. The rice was okay, nothing special, but I did like it come with bread to dip in the sauce. Those lobster empanadas were stunning and I did like the food...just might be ordering out to avoid the trouble. read more

Azul Mariscos of Chicago... To trying out new places... Azul Mariscos is what I would call an overpriced Latin American Restaurant that is way too close to being just a southern style Restaurant with Spanish names for their food... To start with, the greeter was great. The first impression is that it's a nice bar restaurant with amazing service and an even better outside seating. A beautiful lake side patio with a little view of the Chicago skyline. We were given a welcome drink, which was rather pleasant. The menu was a letdown as they went for the whole scan on this card to see our menu theme. The cocktails I would say are the high light of the whole thing. The appetizer was okay, not a bad Fried Calamari, but it could be so much better as far as changing the batter to a less thick one. The chips and salsa were okay, but that should've been free in spanish or latin restaurants I've been in, instead of a 7$ charge... On to the dishes we chose for the night. It was a lot like ordering a, make your own seafood boil mix without them being together in 1 bag. The house sauce was actually good and flavorful, but the garlic sauce was simply horrible. It tasted like a few weeks old Minced Garlic drench on oil with salt and pepper for flavor. As far as the prices, well everything seems fine till the 1/2 lbs king crab legs was priced at a whopping $75 but I still had to order it thinking mabe it was very juicy or something special was added but there was not. Although their house sauce was good and maybe even great, it does not make up to selling me an $18 single king crab legs cut in half on their sauce for $75... The service is exceptional we were greeted with a complimentary shot which was peach tequila and was delicious! I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and it is the best I have ever had hands down! The corn on the cob was divine you can tell they put their heart and soul into making this food! I came for the margarita tower. The margaritas were alright, not overly powerful but a bit on the sweet side. The grilled octopus was very good and tender. Guacamole was fresh. Elote was very limey and delicious. I was disappointed with the paella. It tasted like they made Mexican rice and threw muscles and shrimp on top... it did not taste like a paella. The service could been a lot better. I felt like I couldn't get our servers attention when we needed it. I know that things could be hectic, but it was frustrating waiting long periods for utensils or drinks. Ambiance was alright. Music was good. read more

Went for a corporate gathering and will be back with the family. Great atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff and high quality eats. Apparently also can rent pontoon boats very nearby. Valet parking so no issues there. read more
