This is my millionth time coming here and I thought I would finally leave a review. I know most of the staff personally by now and am always so happy to come here. I primarily ask for Alma or Rosy before I get seated. They are absolutely fantastic when it comes to service and transparency. They get pretty busy, but I always feel taken care of when I'm seated. I visited Azul Tequila last weekend with my cousin and her kids. I ordered the mole enchiladas, while my cousin and her kids split an order of chicken fajitas. Everything was delicious! I also really liked the decor - so many darling artisanal touches (I love the metal sculpture frog musicians). While driving from San Diego to Sacramento, I took an exit and stumbled upon Azul Tequila, a Mexican Grill tucked into the corner of a small shopping center. I was greeted promptly and the staff was very nice. I ordered a Chili Verde burrito with rice and beans from the lunch menu. It was ready in no time, portions were generous, and it was really tasty. Having grown up in San Diego I know something about Mexican food. This was authentic and delicious. If I hadn't been driving, I would have indulged in the tequila bar or a margarita. The chips, two salsas and sour cream on the side were a nice bonus. Pico de Gallo with a hearty kick, and a robust, spicy red salsa. Take the food home, what do you know: food is with refried beans and l can't eat it due to dietary restrictions. Fine, give me a refund. Nope, can't do that, and then the manager lies to me and says the refried beans don't contain lard. Yeah right dude, l ordered the black anyways. Then he lies again and says he can't issue a refund because "he doesn't have access to the card". Just awful, cringey service - like at least don't lie to me? I would've given this place at least 4 stars because the food is really good BUT if you have Alma as your server good luck! The service is absolutely terrible. My husband asked for a box for his food and it took three servers re-asking if he needed a box and 45+ minutes later he finally got one! On top of that they automatically gave this waitress a 20% tip because we had a group of 7. Don't get me wrong, we love tipping well but we should not be forced to if the service was HORIRBLE! She would drop stuff off without making eye contact and without asking if we needed anything else and when we did need something we had to wait 20+ minutes just to ask for what we needed and still wait another 20+ minutes to get what we wanted. Then I returned the drink for a margarita, that tasted just like lime juice. I thought maybe it was just a bad day at the bar, so I decided to give this place another chance a couple weeks later. The beans are cooked perfect, and I'm picky about beans. The ceviche is good too! Big pieces of shrimp if you order cameron over pescado (fish). I usually come for lunch when I'm in the area. The restaurant is located in a small plaza near Starbucks. The parking lot can get busy depending on the time of the day, but there is also street parking.
