Ambiance

My friends and I made reservations here and were seated after about a 5 min wait. The waiter was good about answering our questions and recommending options. The food was good. I had yellow tail, Brussel sprouts, and waygu fried rice. It tasted fresh and I would order it again. The interior is on the darker side, "moody". Would make for a nice date night.

My friend and I went to Azumi for happy hour on a Thursday, and overall it was a chill vibe especially if you are going for drinks. They offer happy hour daily from 3-6 PM, and on Thursdays they have $2 martinis from 3 PM to close, which is honestly such a steal. We had the lychee martinis and they were SO good, easily the highlight of the night. I would absolutely go back just for those. A small heads up: it does get crowded, so the earlier you arrive, the better. When we got there, they had actually run out of menus, so we borrowed one from our neighbor until they were able to bring us our own. It was not a huge deal, but definitely a sign that happy hour brings in a crowd. They also mentioned they were running behind at the bar. The happy hour menu is on the smaller side, but the portions are fair for the price. We tried the chicken gyoza, Brussels sprouts, chicken wings, crispy rice, and the crunchy salmon roll. Everything was solid and tasty. The Brussels a d Gyoza were like favorites! I would not recommend going during happy hour if you are starving and looking for a full dinner. But if you want some bites, good energy, and great martinis with friends, Azumi is definitely a good choice.

I don't know how I was sleeping on the HH here. Definitely fills up on the patio- no reservations for HH so try to get there early. They do a special in thursdays with the martinis which apparently gets real packed. Good deals and options on the hH menu- and of course you have to get the lychee martini! Ended up also getting the chefs nigiri 9piece from the regular menu which was still a decent deal. Every piece was absolutely delicious. I'll have to consider coming back for regular meaning but I'll definitely be back for another patio Hh!! Parking is free in the garage!

Ya know no. This place is located in highland Village and they share valet eith like 3 other restaurants. I dont like to use the valet service because they literally park your car im a dirt lot. Like what am I paying for?? We had a reservation for 7. It took 10 mins to seat us... our waitress was pleasant but lordddd was she slow. That was likely in part because they appeared under/short staffed. The food tasted great, when we could finally get it. I mean the service was slow as molasses! Don't come here hungry because there will beva wait. I enjoyed my sushi rolls and the spicy edamame was really good.

I just want to say WOW about azumi. We went here for happy hour on one of my last nights in Houston. We were just so impressed with the service, the ambiance, and the quality of the food. For happy hour you're truly getting a bang for your buck with their food and drinks. We chose to enjoy their oysters (fresh and Rockefeller), nigiri, spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy tuna roll, and the flaming king crab roll. The best thing was the spicy tuna maki and the crispy rice! So flavorful and fresh! The king crab roll was the only underwhelming item... for the price I don't think it's worth it. For drinks I enjoyed a lychee martini which was delicious! My husband got some whiskey on the rocks but they put something carbonated in it and when he asked, they said that's how they do on the rocks so we're not sure what was going on. Overall our experience was very good and we will be back again!

I've been hearing sooo much about Azumi's HH from 3-6, but specifically the $2 lychee martinis on Thursdays. I'm sooo happy I visited because it didn't disappoint. The ambiance of the restaurant and patio is very inviting and warm. We arrived at 5pm and it was an hour and a half wait so definitely be there before 3. We were still granted the HH for drinks but not food, which was odd. I ordered the drinks which has a max of 4 for the HH special. They are on point! For food, we ordered mainly starters such as the oysters trio (10/10), Brussels (8/10 because they're flaky vs cut in half), shishito peppers (10/10) and the yellowtail tuna roll (7/10 because it was too much avocado). I for sure for sure visit again very soon.

We came for happy hour on a Monday. Happy hours starts at three and usually it's pretty pretty packed so I would come early, especially on Thursdays where they have a two dollar lychee martinis. They're happy hour is not better at all and they have a few options to go off of this. Shrimp was amazing. The crispy rice with avocado was everything you wanted you do have a minimum of three to order. They're Leche martinis were good. It was. I wouldn't say it was the best but for the price it was great. You sit at the bar for happy hour, but it is an upscale place so I would dress accordingly. Parking is in the garage usually it's free or there's valet Unisex bathrooms

Love coming here. Great drinks, great service, beautiful ambiance, valet parking offered or can park for free in the parking garage. Also has a nice lunch special and happy hour menu

Came here for their happy hour and had a great time! We got there early around 2:45pm to ensure that we were able to get a spot, and the servers were so kind to seat us and let us wait for happy hour to start. We ordered the crispy tuna rice, the grilled oysters, the brussels sprouts, the crispy calamari, shisito peppers, hamachi maki roll, the chicken wings, and some lychee martinis. The crispy tuna rice was my favorite thing we tried. The tuna was super fresh, the rice was crispy, and I loved the flavor of the sauce. This is a must-get when you go. (8/10) The grilled oysters were just okay, they just tasted cheesy. Not bad for the price, but nothing special. (5/10) The brussels sprouts were also a miss for me. The flavor was good and they were well roasted, but there were barely any full brussels sprouts. It was mainly just the leaves. (5.5/10) The crispy calamari was not crispy sadly, and a bit bland. The sauce was a spicy mayo that helped the dish, but I would not get this again. (4/10) The hamachi maki roll was nice! The fish was fresh and I felt like it was very comparable to other hamachi rolls that I've had before. (7/10) The chicken wings had great flavor. My only complaint was they they were not crispy at all. The meat was tender though and overall a decent wing. (6/10) The lychee martinis were STRONG. I think it might be a bit stronger than I'd like, but the lychee flavor is there and for $2 you really can't beat it! (5.5/10) I loved the bright and lively ambiance here and can see why the happy hour can get filled up fast. I would recommend making a reservation beforehand or getting there right at 3pm when it starts to make sure you can get a spot. Also, there is a free parking garage in the plaza. Would recommend this place for those looking for a cheap and a cute spot to catch up with some friends!

Highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, dinner, or happy hour. Great service and nice environment! Calamari, chicken wings, and spicy tuna roll was all a hit. I'm still thinking about our food! Be sure to check out their happy hour specials.

Facilities fee

Located on the westheimer facing side of the River Oaks District, the premium location is paired with a premium feeling experience. You can park in the garage if you're in the mood for a light walk before or after, but there is valet here too. The inside seating is spaced well enough apart as to not feel crowded, and there's a large traditional bar and a separate sushi(I'm sure there's an authentic name) bar to sit at as well. I appreciate the business being open for lunch and offering some lunch parings to get things flowing for newcomers. Our server was eloquent and knowledgeable about the menu, not overly chatty, but very polite. The menu had plenty of options, and balanced the act of having enough things to choose from while not overloading the amount of reading you'd need to do. Food was on the experimental side with the Crudo and cold prepared dishes. Pear foam on the scallop was interesting and tasty combination that I hadn't tried elsewhere. All the seafood was fresh and neatly prepared. Rolls were less exploratory in flavor combos I'd say, I didn't see the intention of trying to do something entirely new like with the tiraditos. Lots of hot entree type plates you can get into as well. My lone gripe was on the bill where a 3% facilities fee was added. Maybe there was a disclaimer on the menu that I missed, but this is Anti-Patron at the very least. What's the purpose here? This is on top of a meal for 3 that was $400+. Dishes can be priced appropriately or this should be removed.

Lychee martini and MISO SOUP

Cute and quiet. I came in on a Friday and sat at the bar. And ordered off restaurant week menu! Which honestly it was really good and the price for it was amazing. Once I ordered my food I surely thought I'd still be hungry but I wasn't I was satisfied! And happy about the portions and taste. My bartender was nice and did everything she could to keep up with the tickets coming in for drinks. I ordered two drinks. The lychee martini was good but my other drink wasn't so good.. There's parking in front of the shops, a parking garage, valet and parking by the restaurant * which can fill up fast. They also validate parking but on that day it wasn't needed it just opened for me. Overall I'll be back to try more drinks and food

Azumi is located in the upscale (and gaudy) part of River Oaks, in the same general area as Steak 48, and Le Colonial. Parking is available in the adjacent parking garage. The interior is very modern and well staffed. The menu is reminiscent of a few other upscale sushi spots. We focused on the cold and nigiri options. Generally, the presentation of the dishes were top notch and the quality of the fish seem decent for the rolls and nigiri. Really enjoyed their scallop and Uni, both were fresh and presented well. The toro tartar was decent, the toast a bit too rich but the ingredients were nicely put together. The flounder crudo was a 5/5 but the scallop tiradito was a bit of an odd dish. Pricing is also in line with other higher end sushi spots. Overall, it was better than expected for a sushi spot in the River Oaks area. It's a bit glitz but the sushi is solid. Lots of solid dishes on the menu!

Just kidding LOL that didn't happen! Anyway, back to the point, sorry.. I like to mess around a little. I wasn't that hungry because I had food yesterday I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. Needless to say--well actually, quite needing to say since this is a review after all--the food was pretty good. Prices were a little crazy but it's become all to normal in this day and age. As for the food, I ordered a kids cheeseburger burger with fries , a kids meal chicken tender.. don't feel like saying all this again. As for the food, the service was pretty good I guess. The girl servers were pretty smart. The boy servers were a little less smart. Every time the guys brought food, they either stood there looking around, or attempted to place the food on top of other plates or napkins that were on the tiny table. I suggest maybe a boot/concentration program for the guys so they can concentrate a lil more. Ok, it's time for me to go. I'm gonna go to sleep after all the food. I forgot to mention what I ordered. kids cheeseburger burger with fries, a kids meal chicken tender with fries, a farmhouse burger, and the half chicken with biscuits. I also had the his biscus lemonade. The half chicken was obviously what they tried the hardest in. There were 4 types of sauce with it. They were all pretty good, but I didn't eat the chicken. The chicken tasted incredible-- so much so that I finished it completely. But I don't like eating around bones, I find it primitive. I'm more of a chicken tender kinda guy if you know what I mean. Oh yeah and for the food, I had a his biscus lemonade. It was SO good. Alright. And that is the end of my review. I hope I did t forget to list my food items because I've gotten hate messages calling me weird. Anyway, I'm out chat. Thank you to my faithful followers. Wow this place really blew me away. It's a near perfect spot for a business lunch or dinner (or if…read moreyou're willing to splurge with your own money for a good meal or a hot date). I wasn't sure what to expect based on the name of the restaurant, but essentially their seafood options are spectacular. And it feels like an exclusive club because the decor and service are both very much high class and special. We tried the coconut shrimp as the appetizer and really liked it. It was lightly fried and the shrimp was cooked to perfection - not under and not over. I would highly recommend this one to start. Loved it. If you're looking for a fair-priced meal, they have lots of salad and sandwich options. I tried the salmon poke bowl and it was so delicious. The fish was extremely fresh, and all the flavors blended together really well. It was like a healthy party in my mouth. It was great decision. You wanna splurge a bit and live large like YOLO? You gotta get the crab cake. Now, how good can a crab cake be? Well, if you're paying close to $50 for one crab cake, you better believe it's gonna be freaking awesome. And alas, it was. Best crab cake I've ever had in my life, no joke. And I've tried a lot of crab cakes in my many decades of dining out. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back many times. Enjoy! Quick note on parking - plenty of parking in a huge lot shared by many businesses such as Kenny and Ziggy's. Only annoying part is several sections of the lot are designated for specific businesses, so just look for the signs and be willing to park a little bit further away towards Taco Deli and Bluestone.

Unfortunately, this turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in quite some time. We had an 8:00 PM reservation but weren't seated until around 8:30 PM. While delays happen and I was willing to overlook that, the experience only went downhill from there. We ordered Palomas to kick off our Friday night. The drinks took quite a while to arrive, and when they did, they were noticeably watered down. I politely mentioned it to our server, who quickly took them back and brought replacements, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second round was nearly identical to the first. When I brought it up again, instead of acknowledging the feedback, the server responded by saying it was "just not a sugary drink." That completely missed the point. I wasn't expecting a sweet cocktail--I was pointing out that the drinks tasted diluted and poorly made. What bothered me most wasn't the drinks themselves, but how the feedback was handled. I wasn't looking for free drinks or trying to be difficult. I was simply offering honest feedback, and it felt like my opinion was being dismissed rather than heard. Unfortunately, the food didn't redeem the experience. We ordered several dishes to get a good sense of the menu, and most were overwhelmingly salty. The salt overpowered any other flavors to the point that we couldn't finish some of the dishes. The sushi was the best thing we had, but even that lacked the presentation and quality I would expect at this price point. To be fair, the manager did remove the drinks from our bill as a courtesy, and I appreciate that gesture. However, by that point the damage had already been done. A resolution is only effective when guests feel heard and respected throughout the process. Instead, I felt like I had to defend my opinion and justify my feedback before anyone took it seriously. At the end of the day, a restaurant can be trendy, crowded, and beautifully designed, but none of that matters if the food and service don't deliver. Balboa Surf Club has the atmosphere and location, but in my experience it falls short where it matters most. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried it because I had always been curious, but now I know I won't be back and cannot recommend it. If you're looking for a similar concept, I'd recommend Hudson House. The atmosphere is comparable, but the drinks are consistently well-made, the food is much better, and the service has always been far superior.
