    Oysters (happy hour)
    Mia M.

My dearest, dearest Azumi. You have so profoundly created a happy hour girly out of me. Dare I say, a top 5 happy hour spot for me in Houston. Where do I even begin? First and foremost I love the overall atmosphere of this place. Service is always pretty good. Don't get me started on the food. I honestly don't have that many pictures because I get too excited to even remember once the food comes (haha). Love everything that my mouth touches from here. Wings? Love em. Shishito peppers? Yummy? Oysters? Chefs kiss. But the real star is the crispy rice. Will always love this spot.

It was good!! Especially since it was my friend and I, first time going even better during Houston restaurant week. The salmon was toooo good I ordered a plate to-go. It was chill and cute in the inside and the safe was so sweet and nice. overall a 10/10

Came here for their Thursday night happy hour which includes their $5 martinis from 3pm until close! I had seen on social media that they were $2 martinis so they must have recently changed it. We were immediately seated and greeted warmly with a bottle of cold water. They were good about checking to see if we were ready to order with reminders that their daily happy hour was ending at 6pm. We ordered the oysters, grilled oysters, chicken wings, nigiri, spicy edamame, and gyoza. Everything came out great. They were, however, not the best so I would not want to pay full price. My favorites were the chicken wings with its super crispy skin and sweet but savory sauce, and the oysters you can't go wrong with. I also got the lychee martini which was decently strong. The location is in the River Oaks District shopping center. There is free self-parking in the garage not too far from Azumi itself.

Love azumi's happy hour!! My go to's are always the spicy tuna crispy rice and the shishito peppers, and as you can see, we ordered a LOT! Love the grilled oysters as well. We tried a few new things from their new happy hour menu, the spicy crunchy salmon roll and yellowtail crudo, and also opted to try the calamari this time. I really liked everything, and a lychee martini will never fail!

The service and the food was great. I also got a drink and it was good! I would recommend.

Such a great happy hour experience! They offer food and drink specials from 3-6pm and $5 martinis on Thursday for most of the day. Most of the items I ordered came from the happy hour menu except for the San maki roll. The San roll and the raw oysters were my favorite. The Yellowtail & Serrano Crudo was also tasty! If you're joining for happy hour, be sure to either get there early or grab a reservation. Pricing is only offered in the bar lounge and patio areas, both of which were pretty packed when I arrived. Azumi is a must visit for happy hour!

I don't know how I was sleeping on the HH here. Definitely fills up on the patio- no reservations for HH so try to get there early. They do a special in thursdays with the martinis which apparently gets real packed. Good deals and options on the hH menu- and of course you have to get the lychee martini! Ended up also getting the chefs nigiri 9piece from the regular menu which was still a decent deal. Every piece was absolutely delicious. I'll have to consider coming back for regular meaning but I'll definitely be back for another patio Hh!! Parking is free in the garage!

Azumi is such a great place for a romantic night out. The ambiance is beautiful- intimate, warm, and perfect for date night. My boyfriend and I decided to try the omakase for dinner, and we loved every single item that came out. Each course was absolutely delicious and presentation was exquisite. The service was just as impressive. Every server was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable without being overwhelming. To top it all off, we were treated to complimentary sake at the end of our meal, which was such a nice touch and tasted amazing. The manager for the night came over to introduce herself and ensure we had a great night, and welcomed us back which was great. Between the incredible food, great drinks, and cozy romantic vibe, it was such a special experience. We're already planning to come back to check out their lunch and happy hour!

My friend and I went to Azumi for happy hour on a Thursday, and overall it was a chill vibe especially if you are going for drinks. They offer happy hour daily from 3-6 PM, and on Thursdays they have $2 martinis from 3 PM to close, which is honestly such a steal. We had the lychee martinis and they were SO good, easily the highlight of the night. I would absolutely go back just for those. A small heads up: it does get crowded, so the earlier you arrive, the better. When we got there, they had actually run out of menus, so we borrowed one from our neighbor until they were able to bring us our own. It was not a huge deal, but definitely a sign that happy hour brings in a crowd. They also mentioned they were running behind at the bar. The happy hour menu is on the smaller side, but the portions are fair for the price. We tried the chicken gyoza, Brussels sprouts, chicken wings, crispy rice, and the crunchy salmon roll. Everything was solid and tasty. The Brussels a d Gyoza were like favorites! I would not recommend going during happy hour if you are starving and looking for a full dinner. But if you want some bites, good energy, and great martinis with friends, Azumi is definitely a good choice.

I just want to say WOW about azumi. We went here for happy hour on one of my last nights in Houston. We were just so impressed with the service, the ambiance, and the quality of the food. For happy hour you're truly getting a bang for your buck with their food and drinks. We chose to enjoy their oysters (fresh and Rockefeller), nigiri, spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy tuna roll, and the flaming king crab roll. The best thing was the spicy tuna maki and the crispy rice! So flavorful and fresh! The king crab roll was the only underwhelming item... for the price I don't think it's worth it. For drinks I enjoyed a lychee martini which was delicious! My husband got some whiskey on the rocks but they put something carbonated in it and when he asked, they said that's how they do on the rocks so we're not sure what was going on. Overall our experience was very good and we will be back again!

Ya know no. This place is located in highland Village and they share valet eith like 3 other restaurants. I dont like to use the valet service because they literally park your car im a dirt lot. Like what am I paying for?? We had a reservation for 7. It took 10 mins to seat us... our waitress was pleasant but lordddd was she slow. That was likely in part because they appeared under/short staffed. The food tasted great, when we could finally get it. I mean the service was slow as molasses! Don't come here hungry because there will beva wait. I enjoyed my sushi rolls and the spicy edamame was really good.

Heyyyyyyy on a good Thursday happy hour is here!! Talk about great priced food and Lychee martinis. This is my kind of spot.. it's nice vibes. Happy hour is either in the bar area or outside. The service is nice and they keep coming to check on you to see if you need anything. They are definitely quick on their feet!

We came for happy hour on a Monday. Happy hours starts at three and usually it's pretty pretty packed so I would come early, especially on Thursdays where they have a two dollar lychee martinis. They're happy hour is not better at all and they have a few options to go off of this. Shrimp was amazing. The crispy rice with avocado was everything you wanted you do have a minimum of three to order. They're Leche martinis were good. It was. I wouldn't say it was the best but for the price it was great. You sit at the bar for happy hour, but it is an upscale place so I would dress accordingly. Parking is in the garage usually it's free or there's valet Unisex bathrooms

For minimal service, I personally don't think customers should feel pressured or guilted into tipping nearly 20%. Suggested tips are suggestions, not obligations. Customers should be able to decide what feels fair based on the level of service they actually received. The food was fine, but the aggressive tip expectation leaves a bad impression.

Now for me...I was a little intimidated at first but after asking the waitress what she suggested...she steered me to a few rolls and items I should give a try. And I opted for a few items off their $7 menu of fatty salmon and tuna which both melted in your mouth. I was sad they didn't have ocean perch a single as I really wanted to try a new fish. I also, grabbed an order of spicy edamame as I have to have some veggies when I dine out. The roll I finally decided to get was I can't remember the name right now, but had all my favorites: salmon, tuna, and cream cheese. I also had nigiri yellowtail as I can't go eat sushi without having my yellowtail fix. I really wish I had (3) stomachs as I wanted to try a few more rolls. But after the Cabernet Sauvignon (3) glasses and the nigiri rolls I had I was too full to consume anything else. I can not wait to come back because it was so much more to partake and try that I know I will have to make at least 3-4 trips to go through the entire menu.

It included 3 single bite style appetizers, 13 pieces of sushi, A5 wagyu, and foie gras. Everything was delicious. The appetizers were great bites with good seasoning. The sushi were long pieces with small amounts of rice and already prepped with soy sauce and wasabi, that they recommended eating with your hands. The flavor profiles were great and they also had some seared versions too. The fish was smooth and buttery, no fishy taste, with some great fatty cuts. You don't feel extremely stuffed by the end of it and it is a bit pricy for $165, but overall a fantastic experience. We also got dessert and that was great. Not too sweet. They even gave us a free flan for a birthday gift! The plating is beautiful and service was impeccable. Definitely a must try! Will have to come back and try their à la carte items!

Our server was very nonchalant throughout our meal, to the point where it came across like he didn't really care about our dining experience. I ordered the $25 lunch prix fixe, which included the Hirame Crudo, Burger, and Sorbet. My boyfriend ordered the Hamachi and Sake Maki, Karaage, and Steak Frites. I expected the appetizers to come out first, followed by our entrees, so my boyfriend and I could actually enjoy our meal together. Instead, my entire prix fixe meal came out first, followed by some of the appetizers, while my boyfriend's entree was nowhere to be found. His Steak Frites did not come out until the VERY END, after we had already informed our server that we were finished with our meal. Only then was the entree brought out. What made the situation more disappointing was that there didn't seem to be much concern about the timing. Our server simply suggested packing his meal to go. I didn't appreciate finishing my entire meal first and then having to sit and watch my boyfriend eat his entree at the end. We came to enjoy lunch together, and the pacing made it feel like we were eating two separate meals. As for the food, I would skip the maki. The quality of the sushi roll honestly wasn't even comparable to buffet sushi. The burger is usually delicious, but because I waited for my boyfriend's food to come out before eating mine, it ended up being cold. The Karaage was too sweet for my liking and had too much fish sauce. The Steak Frites were good, but they would have been much more enjoyable if they had arrived on time. I'm not sure what happened with the Steak Frites, but considering they did not come out until after we told our server we were finished with our meal, it felt like the order may have been forgotten or not entered in a timely manner. To make the experience even more frustrating, when we received our bill, we noticed that we had also been charged for an extra burger that we never ordered. After everything that had already happened with the timing and service, seeing an additional item incorrectly added to our tab just made the overall experience even more disappointing. Overall, this visit was disappointing, especially because my previous two experiences here were genuinely amazing. I know this restaurant is capable of providing much better food and service, which is why this experience stood out so much compared to my previous visits.
