My dear friend Chef Michael Gilligan referred me to this restaurant as he knew I was going to be in Key West on vacation. Today I went their with my husband and best friends who live in Big Pine Key for Sunday Brunch. All I can say is what a find! It was beautifully decorated and you made to feel welcome upon arriving. A truly amazing restaurant. The food here is several notches above any of the others and the service was even better. We decided to start off with a few appetizers and continued through the courses serving everything Family Style. Do yourself a favor and take the advice of the staff. They will direct you through a great culinary adventure if you are daring enough. Busy time in Key West between Christmas and New Years and yet Azur is not buzzing. We liked the recommendation here to enjoy fresh healthy Mediterranean food but we're sadly disappointed by the service attitude. Snippy and curt wait staff seemed to cop an attitude right off that went down hill as the night progressed. We had the Mezza starter which was tasty and we split a Swordfish entree after a late lunch which was delicious, but the vibe of the wait staff was just too caustic to really enjoy the food. Good luck if you go but try The Flaming Buoy if we want an incredible experience with happy staff! read more

Went for breakfast, found the food to be amazing. I ordered the traditional breakfast with bacon. It was very tasty! The toast was so good as well. Off the beaten path. A beautiful location. Ate inside but in the glass enclosed area and it's just as inviting as the patio. Both my date and I had the gnocchi. Mushroom and asparagus for me. What a great find! The menu was half off to boot during September!! We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The waiter was very friendly and pointed out the specials with knowledge. We started off with the pear salad with frisée, endive and Gorgonzola. The pears could have been more ripe was our only gripe. Bread was delayed as they were baking it fresh and did not have any for the table when we sat down. When we got it it was very good. We then had the nightly special which was black grouper in a fish broth with pancetta, broccolini and farro. Very tasty, I especially liked the caramelization on the fish. My partner had the osso buco which obviously was good because there was not a drop or speck of anything left on his plate! For dessert we ordered crepes with apricots and almonds with a brown butter glaze. This was recommended by our server but it was only just OK. The coffee was exceptional. I would give Azur's food a 3.5 and its service a 3. Our waiter was very attentive, but the host, yet again, was a jerk. In an empty restaurant with only one table occupied, the host sought to sit us near the kitchen or in a high traffic area. When we asked to be seated outside, where all tables were empty, he insisted all tables were reserved. We pointed out that we too had a reservation. They said we could have a table outside so long as we vacated it by 7:30! I was shocked by this rudeness and almost walked out. What saved the service was the waiter, who was attentive and thoughtful and seemed to really want to ensure that everyone had a good meal. The meal was good. Not great. But good. My husband and I had salads and shared the tuna appetizer. The tuna was indeed melt in your mouth, but it needed salt and pepper. The salads were fine. The goat cheese salad ate sweet. The salad also would have benefited from mescalin greens because it was just a heaping plate of arugula with some goat cheese and nuts. The addition of mescalin greens would have added bitterness to offset the sweet dressing. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi and my husband ordered the seafood risotto. The risotto was briny and tasted far more of clams and mussels than shrimp and squid. He complained it ate too salty and some of the mussels were not good. I liked the gnocchi. The mushrooms had a delicious flavor. The gnocchi would have tasted better had it been toasted. The texture of the meal was all soft. Had the gnocchi been toasted, it would have added a different texture. However, it was very good nonetheless. I don't know what it is about Key West and these restaurants where they are not willing to give you a good table in an empty restaurant. That alone would keep me from going back to Azur. It's just snobby. Irrespective of whether you assess someone to be rich or poor, young or old, give them a good seat in an empty restaurant. If you've reserved the tables in a certain way, you can always move the around. Don't wreck someone's night by being rude. Your business is customer service.. read more

Wife and I walked here from Mallory Square - it's a jaunt, worked up an appetite. This is a nicer/ fancier place than most in Key West. I had the Israeli Couscous and was not expecting a soup. Taste was good, just not thrilled to have soup as main course at such a fancy place. Wife had the yellowtail over quinoa special. She said it was prepared well, just a little boring on the palate. Recommend but pricey compared to other more fun places in Key West. Good place for quiet eve. 3 stars for not being super comfortable (other tables looked better) / high prices/ food quantity. I went here last week. This was one of two meals in a week in Miami and the Keys that I did not have fish as an entree. They offer small plates (basically a half an entree) as well as appetizers. So I had two small plates and an appetizer, and split a dessert with my wife. The grilled octopus was appetizer was very good the cucumber that it is served on works well with it. I had the lamb small plate, it was great, some of the best lamb I have had. I also had Gnocchi, toasted with pine nuts, arugula, and Parmesan. it was pretty good, I am not a huge Gnocchi fan but figured I would try due to all the good reviews. My wife had some calamari as an appetizer and the Braised beef Gnocchi for a entree, she liked them both. The lavender creme brule (Sp?) was great, definitely worth getting. If I went back I would have to get a full entree of the lamb, it was SO good. read more

Me, my wife, and my parents went here for the last dinner of our trip to Key West. We chose to sit in the beautiful outdoor table area with a waterfall right next to ours. For appetizers, we got the pink shrimp (delicious!!) and calamari (good). And for the entrees, we ordered hogfish, grouper, and mediterranean sea bass. All the fish was very well cooked and not overly seasoned, so you can actually taste the subtleties in the fish themselves. Oh yeah, and the warm bread was delicious too! (We actually used the bread to eat the rest of the sauce that came with the pink shrimp.) Very helpful waiters who aren't shy to strike up a short conversations, but will also leave you alone so you can enjoy the meal and atmosphere. Only drawback is the price, which was kind of on the expensive side for the quantity. A small parking lot for customers also provided, which was a nice touch. A solid 4 stars. read more

Visited for lunch and had a great time. It's a wonderful space--we ate outside, but inside was very attractive. Our favorite parts of the meal were the appetizers, which seems to be true for so many restaurants, but these were exceptional. And the portion size was tremendous! I don't know that I'd suggest having just appetizers, but they were pretty darn good, and certainly filling. Another plus is that all of the staff were very friendly and attentive. My wife, daughters ages 10 and 9 and I had the pleasure of dining at Azur on late on a Saturday night after driving in from Miami. We booked a reservation online on the way down and were glad we did. WHY YOU MIGHT LIKE AZUR 1. Nice setting. I found Key West to be one of the most touristy places I have ever encountered (and I am from Hawaii!!!). In stark contrast to much of Key West, Azur has a very relaxed vibe. The neighborhood is also very nice. 2. Outdoor seating. It was the perfect night to eat out. Azur kindly held the table by the fountain for us. 3. Good food, especially appetizers. We ordered yellowfin tuna carpaccio and clams with chorizo. Both were taste sensations! We'd be happy to chow down on these any time! My grouper entree was also excellent. 4. Wine list. Excellent selection. Offered several decent half bottles, which allowed me to enjoy good wine and drive back to the hotel safely with no worries. 5. Service delivered as a team. A few people came up to our table to take our order and this was not by accident. They were collectively able to move things along efficiently. WHY YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE AZUR A. Parking. Limited number of parking stalls (the fact they have some in this neighborhood is incredible). I parked on the street but you need to be careful to not park in a spot reserved for residents. If you are not good at parallel parking you may find parking stressful. B. Service is efficient but not warm. C. You like your entrees well-seasoned. Entrees tended to fall on the bland end of the spectrum. This was surprising given how tasty the appetizers were. The were all prepared well, however and we enjoyed what we ate. read more

Breakfast was great but the dinner was a bit disappointing - especially for the price. I had a hard time finding something that would be gluten free on the menu (that I would consider eating).
