I was extremely pleasantly surprised by this place! PROS: * the sandwich combos are FIRE. I had the egg sandy with country ham/cheddar/daikon, and it was amazing -- everything was fresh and tasty. They took breakfast sandwiches to a new level! * tried a slice of the white cake -- also amazing. there's a little lemon filling, and overall, the cake/texture/ratio is realllly good * tons of veggie options! CONS: * there are like 6 sandwich options.. i'm not sure if they rotate, but if I came more often, I'd want a shaken up menu * pricey - egg sandwich is $7 and the slice of cake was $6. * barely any seating inside. some outside, but total there were like 6ish spots for 2? This is the first time I am writing a review because of the extraordinarily rude and unwarranted actions that I witnessed at this institution. In essence, the customer service at B-side is non-existent and extremely inconsiderate. In my short time here, there was an employee loudly using expletives at a paying customer for not tipping on a pickup order. When this was very politely brought to the attention of the manager - he had the audacity to side with his employee... completely delusional behavior here! Great breakfast sandwich! I had the ham/egg/pickled daikon sandwich. What a mouthful of flavor. I would like to try a few more things on their menu but this day we were just grabbing a quick bite. This is a wonderful little breakfast place. While not big, it has a wonderful cozy charm to it. The homemade kombucha is amazing and their coffee game is on point. Highly recommended. No surprises here when my sandwich didn't come with the protein it was ordered with (it's like these hipsters are trying to be lazy to prove a point) and the rice bowl was just vinegar flavored everything. Oh my gosh, this place is really remarkable. It's super small and tucked away in a quiet part of Capital Hill. It has about 5 two-top tables, a very shallow bar, and then outdoor seating that thankfully has a roof so you won't get wet if it's raining (like today). We came here for a casual but tasty brunch. We arrived here at 12PM and there wasn't any wait. The menu is very limited with fewer than 10 options. The most popular options are the egg sandwich, the rice bowl, and the two toasts - veggie and sweet. We got the rice bowl, bean salad, and veggie toast. In short, they were all so very delicious. Full of flavor, full of acid and vinegar (I think one time after a bite of the veggie toast I breathed weirdly and got some vinegar flowing down the wrong tube!), and full of herbs and great textures. The rice bowl has the wonderful crunchy grain puffs that give the dish a very fun element. The bean salad has a spicy but not overly overpowering sauce. If there are any must-gets, I'd suggest getting the rice bowl and the veggie toast. If anything, they are fantastic Instagram fodder. Definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a neighborhood joint that has truly delicious and herbaceous food. I can't wait to go back here again! read more

The spicy breakfast sandwich was pretty delicious. The heat is mild to me but still yummy. I wish I could get that spicy sauce on the side to add for the rice bowl! The rice bowl was a lot smaller than I expected for the price, but nonetheless it was a good medley of fermented and roasted veggies. The ingredients tasted fresh and good quality. I'd like to try the sweet toast or frittata next time. We got here at noon on a Sunday and by then most of the goods were sold out already. I'm here on vacation, but where I'm from if you're just picking up food to go you typically don't tip. So I didn't. When I received my food, the worker handing it to me told me that it was "fucked up" that I didn't tip in front of all the other customers and promptly went back inside.
