Tasty, fresh, and just an all around good sandwich. Service is always prompt and courteous, and their prices are reasonable. I've only ever been around lunchtime and the place isn't terribly crowded. Is the meatball banh mi the best sandwich in America as some of the clippings in the establishment assert? Not in my opinion. But it's still a rock solid, nothing-but-praise-for-it sandwich. I was in the mood for a bahn mi and Pane hit the spot. It's not traditional because they make it with chicken meatballs, but that doesn't mean it isn't delicious! They have many different meat/flavor combos along with different toppings depending on the direction you want your tastebuds to go in. Small, unassuming sandwich shop that will surprise you. I got the famous banh mi meatball sandwich and it was perfection. The bread is soft and well-toasted and the meatball and pickled vegetables have a great balance of flavors. They don't skimp on the meatballs either! I had high expectations since the meatball sandwich won "best meatball sandwich of America" back in 2014 and it did not disappoint. Great sandwich shop! I got the turkey/avocado. My sister in law got the turkey/avocado/bacon. They were tasty for sure. They have a chipotle mayo sauce that really made them great! Wonderful service. Outside the establishment was a lot of sketchy folks doing drugs so that was the only downside. Not sure I would take my kids to eat here with the people outside slumped over doing the fentanyl bend or the guy pacing back and forth with crack pipe hanging out his mouth. We basically got our food and kept trekking back to our hotel. I feel bad for the businesses having to deal with this as I'm sure it deflects customers. Bathroom was closed. I assume to keep the homeless and drug users out! Unfortunate for paying customers since it's hard to find clean bathrooms outside your hotel. read more

I had the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich with a chipotle mayo spread, and let me just say: I don't know what kind of wizardry they're doing with their French bread, but it's magical. Each bite had my eyes wide open. The ingredients were so fresh, including a gentle helping of greens, basil, & pickled onions -- when you combined everything, it felt like a tasty flavorful flower. Can't get over the bread. I rarely have this happen, but your boy walked out with endorphins. 20/10 will return to try that meatball sandwich -- I just know it's fire. A thousand miles from home and while I am ordering I find out the friendly girl behind the counter went to high school in the next community over from mine. While swapping hometown stories, she made me the best Turkey, Bacon, Avocado, and Swiss I have ever had. The French Roll is toasted, but all the ingredients are served cold, with fresh greens and juicy tomatoes. The spicy Chipotle Mayo and Aioli Sauce gives it a great kick. Check it out. After seeing that they won an award for their teriyaki meatball banh mi, I knew that I had to go for it. I'm usually the type of guy to go with an Italian meat-storm of a sandwich, but to see this type of item on the menu got me too excited not to try it. As I was checking out, I saw the little tiny meatballs sitting in a container and became somewhat skeptical of the Frankenstein that I had just ordered. I got the sandwich and was pleasantly surprised with the flavor. The toasted bread (obviously the most important part) was crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. This was a real treat, as I haven't had great sandwich bread at many Seattle lunch spots yet. The sauce on the sandwich was tangy and spicy, and worked great with the vegetables inside the sandwich. That said, it definitely overpowered the meatballs. If this were a blind taste test, there would have been a 0% chance that I could have ventured a guess that the meatballs were teriyaki flavored. The meatballs were a little strange too, as they had a weird texture to them that you would get from a frozen meatball in the grocery store. Overall, a really solid sandwich and very creative. This place deserves high ranks for what they bring to the table, and I will definitely be back to try other sandwiches. read more

Soft chewy high quality bread, choice of meat (I ordered extra) and generous amounts of fluffy eggs - but the cherry on top was the cherry peppers heh. Breakfast sandwiches are served until 11 I believe but you can order any sandwich all day. They have a convenient online ordering system and s loyalty card. However in the morning there was zero wait time. I ordered a large sandwich on another day, and it was just not as good. Perhaps because I did not eat it right away - the bread did get really soggy. I liked this place and love the bread and flavors, the staff is great, customers are friendly, it's a needed cheap option for the area, but don't know what to make of the quality and the most recent experience made me really wonder. The Turkey, Bacon, Avocado and Swiss has that cheese that's not like Swiss - it's similar to Subway's Swiss, more like white American cheese. And once I started looking at the cheese, I realized I couldn't find turkey anywhere. In the entire sandwich. A couple pieces of bacon was all. I overall enjoyed stopping by this place to grab a snack. The menu is very creative and out there. It was hard to make a decision but I ended up with #4 (pesto, salami, pepperoni, Swiss). The pho style sandwiches was very tasty. The bread fresh and ingredients were noticeably fresh and homemade. All flavors worked very well together and were balanced. The location itself is a walk up location. You eat on an elevated counter table facing the back wall. Overall seating is limited. The reason for 4 stars is due to the cleanliness of the table I ate at. It was not wiped down and was a little outputting. Portion size is also on the small end. Just beware of that. I just happened upon this tiny sandwich shop while zipping around downtown looking for a place to pick up lunch. First of all their menu is mind blowing! They have such amazing combinations like roast beef and wasabi coleslaw (a must have!) and a Teryiaki meatball banh mi. The bread here is scrumptious! I had both the Curry Egg Salad sandwich and the Veggie Pesto Artichoke Sandwich in one sitting. (I must have worked up an appetite during my workout!) Both were delicious. The Curry Egg Salad had just the right seasoning and the Veggie Pesto had great flavor as well. When you are in the mood for a quick but fancy sandwich, Pane Pane is the place to go. They have your normal run of the meal sandwiches such as PB&J, and ham & Cheddar. But they also have fancied up sandwiches such as Nutella and Marscapone or my personal favorite, Prosciutto & Genoa Salami. They have three different tiers of sandwich prices, depending on whats in the sandwich. Once you pick your sandwich you get to pick your in-house made sauce. I typically go with the Aioli. The bread is always the perfect crunch on the outside and soft on the inside. They have a a couple of housemate sides. I have only had the coleslaw, but it was the perfect creamy texture, I highly recommend! They also make breakfast sandwiches. The fluffy eggs, spinach, and house made sauce is what rises their breakfast above the rest. You can also order online and pick up your food instead of waiting in line!
