I would give this 0 stars if I could. We sat there for 15 mins before the waiter even came over to get our drinks. Then ordered an appetizer which a runner brought out we stared at it for 15 mins because the server was no where to be found. Finally, we saw him and got plates. Then we got our appetizer and asked for bread and the server couldn't understand I had to repeat three times and he said yeah we have it but it's a charge. I said fine, that took another 15-20 minutes. We ordered our tacos they came out spicy hot I asked the waiter Alejandro C were they supposed to come out spicy he said I will get a manager. The manager came over and said she would remake them without the salsa verde I said ok. The waiter never came to our table one time and asked if the food was good nothing or even asked if we wanted dessert. We asked for the check and he put it on the next table by us and didn't even say thank you! Needless to say, the place was disgraceful I will never go back. 3 of us went to the Red Bank location on Saturday- did not know they only offer the limited brunch menu. The server apologized for our wait time to be seated and then apologized again that they were out of a few items and also since there was a large party in the room adjacent, chef would not be able to accommodate any changes to the items ordered. I was really disappointed by this place. It has a great design look and at face value, the menu is a foodie's dream. There's a ton of struggles on the execution. Except for the host, all of the staff were disengaged, apathetic and not very personable. When we asked for recommendations or expressed confusion about certain menu items, the descriptions were off -- ex: farmer's cheese wasn't a salad. It's a soft cheese with some garnish. The mussels and prawns were fishy and had no other flavor -- our stomachs were upset later. Most of the food lacked seasoning. I called three weeks ago and young women answered the phone and said they weren't aware of what they were doing and advised me to hold on. Had the cauliflower appetizer and could not eat it , too much filler and spice . My friend wanted to add chicken to a salad and was told that she would have to order the chicken entreee and the salad in order to add chicken to her salad . Seriously ? I personally love to order salads with a protein and have never heard of such a thing. I ordered the chicken which was over priced and over cooked . If you want to enjoy a great meal with a fun atmosphere B2 is the place. My husband and I have been there three times and have been fortunate enough to have Joe H. as our server all three times. Tonight we tried the tasting menu with wine paring. Outrageous! Highly recommend! Watching the Mets and yanks playing simultaneously on the multiple TV screens in the bar area just sweetened the pot. We had the local oysters to start which were awesome and fresh but made even better by the magical sides of mysteriousness that were so good I forgot to ask our server what they were... fresh horseradish and I think some sort of frozen magic! Then as we always do we got the polenta of the day... today's choice came topped with bacon, herbs, and a perfectly poached egg... omg the best! B2 excels at both plus service. We are attracted to bars that cater to craft beer drinkers and this place doesn't disappoint. With 16 craft taps there's enough to satisfy any taste. Samples are freely given out so you don't have to settle for a beer not to your liking. We shared a few appies that were good but the octopus was a little disappointing. Four years it was known as Sal's Tavern. A little over a year ago it morphed into b2 Bistro. The interior has been totally modernized. Across the street is a parking lot for customers since Red Bank has always had problems with parking ...this is a nice plus. The sign says, "eat drink and be merry" so I enjoyed all three. I arrived there around 6 PM and met my family at the bar. I was immediately greeted by the friendly Marissa and Michelle, very capable bartenders as I later found out. They seemed very knowledgeable about the drinks that they made and served. An extensive wine list and craft beer tap list along with the menu were placed at the bar for my perusal. Note Happy Hour is 4-7. But check first. We all agreed on various "bites" to have: Pork belly tacos, ceviche, octopus, and 2 tasty bar pies. Did I forget anything? Oh yes, one critique:too many corn kernels in the ceviche tho still tasty. It's a very friendly atmosphere and I would frequent this place again with their real good bar bites. I ordered take out for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food! I ordered shaved pork small plate, pork belly tacos, and lobster roll. While driving home I was thinking to myself, "man these portions are small!!" I've concluded, If you come here, you go for the drinks, the cool vibe, the good service, and the delish small bites! Although I thought the food was good, I would say I wish the lobster roll had a roll that was less dense. Also the pork belly tacos resembled pulled pork but it had good flavor and wasn't dry. My favorite dish was the shaved pork. Omg!! I wish there was a larger plate of that! That is one dish I would definitely order again. I interested in trying their charcuterie and dough in my next visit. Went to B2 on a Friday night for date night and it was surprisingly empty for a Friday. We had a reservation so it didn't matter but seemed odd for a Friday around 7:00pm. We found the menu to be a bit small compared to the North Brunswick location and didn't really give many different options to choose from compared to that one. Lack of choices beside, the burger I ordered was cooked exactly to medium and was juicy and flavourful with the added bacon. The fries served with it were excellent as well. We also ordered a margherita pizza that was standard (honestly nothing too special about it) but wasn't bad. I wouldn't say this is my first choice but would recommend trying more than one location if this is the first one you visit in order to get a full experience. read more

Good spot. There is a reason for the 4 stars rather than 5. Let's start with the good. Always start with the good. The service was awesome. From the minute we walked in the door, we were greeted by a smiling host. Very polite. We were actually about 30 minutes early, but there was no problem sitting us. (That's actually the bad part, but more of that later). The server was very attentive and constantly came by to see how we were doing, offering suggestions on drinks and explaining the menu. There are a lot of custom house drinks. I tried two of them. Very interesting, but fun. The menu is simple, but I did like the fact that you can mix and match your own charcuterie. This is when you can pick certain items for an appetizer. You can choose from cheeses, pate's and meats and it is served with bread on a board. We selected 3 cheeses, a meat and pate. It was very well presented and tasty. That's a very clever idea and a great way to pick on something to start with. My wife ordered the Short Rib Stroganoff and I had the 8 oz Bistro Filet. The pasta was a little over cooked, but tasty. The filet was perfectly cooked and sliced into medallions. It was over creamed spinach with potatoes that were amazing. Now, let's get to the bad bit. When we arrived, there were not many patrons in the dining room. There were plenty of tables, but we were seated in between two tables for two, each of which had diners seated. We were literately about 2 feet from the next table on both sides. If I was ballsy enough, I would have reached over and tried the entree to the table next to me, before I ordered mine, to see how it tasted. I am NOT a fan of that type of seating. There is a long bench on one side and chairs on the other. They could have skipped every other table, but they filled each one at a time. I listened to everyone's conversation and I am sure they were listening to ours as well. Again, not a fan. And that's why they get a 4 instead of a 5. Overall, it's a bit pricey, but still very good. Three strikes you're out. It used to be good but there have been too many missteps lately. Most recently, my husband's burger, ordered medium with bacon, was completely raw on the inside and there was no bacon. I called the manager and he said that he'd remove the burger from the bill. This is more of a 3.5 place. The food is excellent, but service is very slow. Not sure if the kitchen gets backed up or if they need more servers on the floor - either way, I thought the server could have been more on top of his game. This is especially true since we paid for the private room. For food, I highly recommend the gnocchi. By far my favorite dish at this restaurant. The burger is a close second and if you're with a group, definitely order some pizza as an appetizer. Margarita is a classic choice and the other specialty pies change depending on the season. My favorite pie was one that had some spicy meats and honey. Sounds odd, but it was truly fantastic (I think it may have been a spring pie). They also have clam pies which are pretty good, which may have been a summer special. In short, if you haven't been to B2 it is definitely worth checking out! The $50 meal and ride to the theater is the best deal out there! My boyfriend and I used this service last week and I was very impressed. I called on the day of the concert to see if it was possible to fit us in. The manager was very accommodating and helpful. We came for dinner before the show and the food was delicious! We especially loved the short rib polenta. Then they arranged for a car to pick us up and take us to the show as well as take us back to our car after the show. It is an amazing deal for the price! Just starting out and off to a great start. We had drinks and wine at the bar and then went to the dining room for dinner. Nice and relaxed atmosphere that makes it feel like you can hang and chat. The bar is nice and very minimal and clean. The bartender was a bit too intrusive and seemed very nervous. We had the "dips" small plate of 3 dips and sliced pitas. They were good and between us each person has a preference of what they liked best. The pita was fresh. For entrees my fiancé had the octopus special which the server said was an entree (this place is confusing because they claim it is small plates, but the prices and portions are clearly more traditional to appetizers and entrees). The dish was small and just okay, it seemed underwhelming. It was not anywhere big enough to be an entree. I had the "chicken" it was frenched and cooked perfectly. The menu description was minimal and I was expecting it to be much lighter and simpler then it turned out to be. It was very good but salty. My parents split a few plates that they enjoyed. They thought it was a bit odd that the gyro was fried and that it didn't describe it as such on the menu. Off to a great start, we will be back! This was our first time at b2. Our son and family love it so we gave it a try. We were not happy that nobody told us there wasn't a table for us. Instead we were given seats at the counter top facing the kitchen. We almost left but decided to stay, and we are really glad we did. Our server turned our night around. Drink and food suggestions were all spot on, and the upbeat service was refreshing. She jokingly called us her "VIP" customers, but by the end of the might we really felt that way. It's silky, just hot enough, and honestly you can't help but finish it. It is big so if you're planning on having a full entree maybe share with more than 2 people (haha). I rarely give 5 stars. B2 deserves it. We sat at the bar for a while before we were seated. Drinks were great. Marisa was super. We were greeted by the owner Dan for a short conversation which made us feel very welcome and valued. We had the mushroom pizza - it was AMAZING. On par with our Brooklyn pizza expectations. And tbh exceeded. Lamb meatballs were very good. I ordered the slow roasted pig which when it came out was not what I expected after my BBQ phase in Nashville and Texas- it was elegant yet delicious. SO good. BF ordered the shell steak and the only issue with the entire meal was it had in our opinion too much fat.
