After our last few visits, we decided we will give this place a break. There are no shortage of great places to eat in Red Bank. We had plans to go see live music at another place, but we couldn't get in and had no luck at any other places, so we ended up at B2Bistro. We started with Mussels to share and shared a pasta and a pizza. First the pasta... really good - fresh pasta - great meat sauce. The pizza was good - it was a mustard pizza - not sure I love the mustard flavor, but crust was outstanding. Mussels were good, but about 30% of them never opened. I mentioned this to the waiter - he took it off the bill. I appreciate it, but someone should be checking this out before it comes out of the kitchen. Overall - it was a pretty good meal. read more

I came here for lunch and the atmosphere is very nice and cozy, good beer selection, but the food is just okay. I would give 3.5 stars if I could, but I think a 4 would be a little too generous (hence my 3 star review). I got the fried mushroom sandwich and my fiancé got the spicy chicken cheesesteak. I tried his cheesesteak and that was pretty good, but my mushroom sandwich tasted a bit burnt. I could only really taste the mushroom once I got to the very middle of the sandwich where there wasn't too much batter around it. I also think their rolls could be better and are a bit dry. I would come here again though, and maybe something else on the menu will push me to boost this up to 4 stars! Their pizza does look appetizing. read more

This place remains a solid 4 stars. We stopped in again on a Sunday around 5:00 and the bar was almost full, but luckily we found seats. This time we ordered the Rally Fries which were a huge portion for $8. They were really good. We also enjoyed more $2 beers and unfortunately they took the IPA off the $2 happy hour menu. Came here for some tapas on a girls night out. Wasn't too impressed by the menu this night. I got a cocktail from the high rollers list. I got what was called the winter of 1942. It was not very tasty, perhaps I should of given my choice more thought. It was also 38 dollars, so yea...I was surprised by the price. But thought it would be worth it. Nice presentation but not a good taste to the drink in all. We then started with the charcuterie board, a aged cheddar, sausage and the salami. It was nicely displayed, not anything special for taste unfortunately. The cheese should of been cut or A cheese knife given. We then got the Brusselsprouts, they were good, cooked well, but very salty and whatever the glaze on them was could of been alittle less of it. The goat cheese on them in my opinion didn't go well. We proceeded with small plates to share. We got The meatball which came in a nice sauce with ricotta. It was very tender and enjoyable. The wings were just very bland and slightly over cooked. The shrimp honestly did not smell fresh when it came and did not taste good. The spicy sauce they had on it was just very over powering and blah. I like spicy but it wasn't flavored the best I guess. We were on a road trip and stopped by here because of the awesome reviews. I completely regret doing so... We had informed the server we were in a rush and if we can get everything as they were ready. Didn't happen. We ordered the brick chicken which she didn't tell us that it takes a long time to prepare. If we're in a rush wouldn't you tell us it takes over 30 minutes? The entrees all took over 45 minutes to arrive so we sat there getting attacked by mosquitos and flies. I looked around and it seemed like everyone was waiting for their food between apps and entrees and the vibe was--uneasy! Lol I ordered the steak medium and I think they may have cooked it on really high heat because it was burnt on the outside and not cooked through on the inside. I felt like i was choking on the steak. Pass Also they brought out a bottle of sparkling water that we ordered with no glassware...it took another 10 minutes just to bring out glassware!! One of the biggest things they have going for them is the free private parking lot...score! Definitely not common in Red Bank! When you cross the street and walk up to the entrance you can't help but notice the piles of wood to the side. You know you're in for something good when walking in. The wood burning oven smells divine as you enter. You walk in to the bar area where there is a wood fired oven, pub tables and a good size bar with several TVs. There is also a second room with regular tables. Came with a friend for lunch. We decided to sit by the bar because the restaurant side was completely empty. We ordered a few plates to share including a pizza which we were able to watch being made. Everything we had was delicious and service was very friendly. Causal gastropub with beer flights and decent food. Came here with friends last night and had a good time, the slow cooked pig was the standout. Pork had a crispy layer on top, which seared the juices within, and tender slowly-roasted pull meat with with a sweet berry sauce. On a bed of beans which were pretty good, and I normally dislike beans but gobbled them all up Our friends had the French Onion Pizza and Mushroom Pizza, both said were good, but nothing to brag about. The people next table had wings, those looked really good, will try that next time. Beer flights were fun which you get to choose 4. We had the pumpkin, peanut butter and chocolate porter, and 2 lighter ale. The porters were smooth, the other 2 was a-ok. Food overall is 3.5 star, am adding an extra 1/2 star because the service was great. We had a yelp reservation and they sat us promptly. We didn't want to be next to a rowdy large party, and they were very accommodating and moved us to the side. Keep in mind that everyone who was seated after us had already received all their food, while we were still waiting for the second, undelivered, appetizer - a salad! We saw our waiter just once. We had to ask, several times, for plates to eat from. And, at the end of the meal, we had to walk around the restaurant looking for someone who would give us a box for the leftovers. This is truly an upscale yet low key restaurant that is a well oiled machine with a powerful combination of fresh innovative dishes, masterful chefs and superb service. Every dish was a conversation starter, we couldn't help admiring the recipes, freshness, taste and skill. We started with the spicy meatball small plate which was delicious but way too much food and probably not paired with the rest of our meal but I loved it anyhow. The delicious grilled octopus small plate had super tender flavorful octopus on a bed of salad greens. The pre spring salad with grilled and seared vegetables was awe inspiring with its balsamic base and soft tart marinated cherry bites that all blended each bite in an eyebrow rasing sigh. We ended it off with an entree that was way too much food but so glad to eat it... The aged rib eye. Wow. This perfectly medium rare steak was served sliced with 2 small deep batter fried onions, the bone it was cut from, and another thigh bone that was filled with prepared marrow that was totally decadent! The 3 cups of coffee from the small French press at the end and the take home bag we requested made the meal perfect by keeping me awake and not busting out of my jacket for our visit to the Count Basie theater to see the amazing David Byrne kick off the American Utopia tour! That one middle age waitress with the blonde hair needs a new profession. Not only have we had bad experiences with her we had a group there last Sunday and said she was worst. She rolls her eyes up at every order, takes forever to get drinks and has this freakin attitude on top of that. We have had her unfortunately 2x and if you ask for something she says " well is it on the menu?". This place has great overworked bartenders and I imagine the rest of the staff is good..albeit I heard management issues..but this woman ruins the entire experience. Even a staff member agreed with us. Such a nice place with a great happy hour and Michelle and Marissa are great behind the bar ( always short handed beyond their control) , the food is good but this one waitress prevents us ..and probably a lot of others from sitting down at a table. Arrived 5:15 on Sunday and sat at hi tops in the bar area, no wait and we left at 6:55pm. We had 2 waiters and the bus boy was the most attentive. Ordered the pretzel as an appetizer along with the scarpariello wings. The pretzel came when it's normal beer, cheese, and mustard that was delicious. The wings came in a scarpariello sauce minus the sausage and potatoes pretty good. It not sure if they were fire roasted as described in menu. For dinner, my daughter had the Caesar salad and spicy tuna roll. I tried one piece of the spicy tuna roll, and it tasted a little old and fishy. My son had the Smashburger, which he rated an 7 out of 10 my wife had the dry aged hamburger which she rated 7 1/2 out of 10. Both really enjoyed the french fries that came with the burgers. I had the schnitzel which was a special for the month, which came with an apple salad. I expected some gravy with it or something on the side. It came plain which made It a little dry.. When dinner arrived I ordered my second drink, which I never received until we were Paying for the check at The end and mentioned it. The manager then took it off the bill. Out of the 6 tables that were occupied my table and two other table had issues, one said their dish was too spicy returned it, then received another and said it was too sour. The next table ordered drinks when they came in, and never received them until after they received their pizza and told the waiter again, then the manager brought the drinks over. Waited about 15 to 20 minutes to receive my check before my wife had to get up and ask for it and received 3% charge on your credit card. I decided on going to B2 on a whim. The ambiance and appearance of this place is great. It's got that rustic look going for themselves. They had our reservation which we made thru Yelp. It was seamless. We sat next to a couple having a salad, charcuterie and mussels. My better half was in the mood for mussels, and after asking this couple what they thought, she ordered that. I decided on the burger weighing in at $16. We didn't decided on any appetizers. The service was okay. Not as attentive as I needed. It seemed hard to get our waitresses attention. She just seem to not really care for us... We've had worse service at other places so that wasn't a big deal. The problem we had was with the food, about the freshness and flavors. The mussels came. They were dressed in this bacon creme and the trinity of flavors was not right. It wasn't good. The lightness of the mussels and seafood just did not marry with the heaviness of the cream and smokiness of the bacon. It wasn't what we expected. My burger was bad too, in particular the bun. My bun was flat out a stale Stop-n-shop bun. You can even see in my photo. It was not fresh. I really expected they would have a different approach. Sometimes I feel like restaurants should just focus on the basics. Focus on flavor and make sure the flavors marry. Serve fresh food, a fresh bun, at the least. read more

Can't comment on plates or large entrees. While they have an extensive beer list, it always seems the ones you want are "kicked" or unavailable. They print these extensive beer lists and then anywhere from 10-30% are unavailable at any given night. There has to be a better approach for this. Make a reservation if you have more than 2 people. The most disappointing thing about B2 is how long it took us to try it. We're so happy we did! We started with the Duck Fat Potatoes, which although was small proportioned, was perfectly prepared. I suggest if you're feeding more than three people, order multiple helpings. Their Dry Aged Burger is a must. Absolutely delicious! My wife had the meatball and my daughter a mushroom flatbread. LOL We wanted a relaxing place to have some drinks, eat a little and just enjoy a girls afternoon out. We had spent some time at Trader Joe's down the way in Shrewsbury and were hungry, not being all that familiar with Red Bank we Yelped and B2 popped up. Super easy to find and with parking right across the street from the restaurant we were pretty happy. As we walked in we were Immediately greeted by the hostess, she had huge smile and welcomed us to B2, she gave us the option to be seated in the dining area close to the kitchen or by the bar area, we chose the kitchen dining area. Our server came right over and right away, asked us if we would like water, we said yes and ordered 3 Mimosas because a Sunday with the girls needs Mimosas, I mean it's practically a written law, right?! He brought both lime & lemon for our water, the mimosas made with fresh squeezed OJ, really hit the spot. The house bread had the perfect ratio of crusty outside to warm soft inside served with a pickle vegie. After our server went over the brunch specials we also asked him about the menu options, which only made having to decide on what to order that much harder, because everything sounded so good, but we had to choose and we choose we did. Fennel crackers- white bean puree and olive tapenade- the tapenade was eye rolling delicious-you need to order this! ask for extra of the tapenade because the little cup that comes with the dish is seriously NOT ENOUGH. We wanted to spoon it onto the house bread and just eat it like that. Chef, are you willing to share the recipe? we won't tell, swear! Mixed Greens: Salad greens with thinly sliced pear, bits of tangy goat cheese, fig emulsion (amazing ask for extra) and walnuts. The fig emulsion was just as good on the house bread as the tapenade. Charcuterie- We chose the small plate of the meat and the cheese selections- I would say although we shared both between the three of us, the small plates would be just enough for 2 people to share, the three of us managed, but only because one of us has a small tummy tank (that wouldn't be us mom's). Brunch omelet with roasted peppers and Japanese eggplant that came with a small salad. This looked so fluffy and delicious, my sons GF absolutely loved this dish and was almost "willing" to share, a bite. The thing is, all the dishes could be shared since they are basically tapas style- I even saw people ordering that amazing burger and cutting it to share- I personally wouldn't - I am not a burger or steak sharer kind of gal-- but you could. For dessert we opted to just have the French press coffee which came with raw sugar cubes and crème our waiter also brought us complimentary pieces of fudge. We left sometime after 4pm it was definitely a wonderful brunch experience and no doubt we will be returning. Came here for a nice casual dinner and overall wasn't impressed. Our server was nice but took a while getting our order and check at the end. There was also staff walking around without a mask on. I understand it wasn't busy but if there are any customers, masks should be worn properly. The menu is seasonal so there were not a ton of options which is okay if the food was good. Sadly, this place left a lot to be desired. We got skate wing and it was weird. The fish was cooked fine but the sauce was so overpowering I couldn't taste anything other than lemon and capers. Way too overwhelming for a delicate fish like skate. The leeks were overcooked and mushy. With the fish, leeks, and potatoes it was all just mush. The shrimp were tiny and not fresh. So disappointing for $32. We also got the brick chicken and it was so salty. It comes with some feta cheese and since that's already a naturally salty cheese, it did not help. The only saving grace was the chickpeas and sweet potatoes. Also the chicken was moist. But overall the salt just killed the dish and it was not good for $29 Lastly, we asked for some bread with the meal and the bread was half warm, half cold, and stale. Wow! This is a restaurant that has a few things on their menu but does them REALLY well! The food is absolutely incredible. Definitely quality over quantity when it comes to choices and portion sizes, but you won't be disappointed by any of the selections. I came here with my family for my brother's birthday dinner. We ordered - sausage & broccolini pizza - calabrese pizza - polenta - wedge salad - wild mushroom gnocchis - chicken saltimbocca - slow cooked pig - the beef rib The pizzas were surprisingly delicious! The two were so different but if I had to go with just one then I would recommend the calabrese pizza, the spicy salami and sauce complimented each other so well! It was my first time having polenta and apparently they do a different chef variation of this every night, wow! Whatever we had was amazing and off the beat of our normal order. Mushroom gnocchi was so tasteful without being overly heavy in the sauce. Our favorite was the beef that we ordered (and I don't have the proper menu name for it, sorry) but it was so tender and the table's favorite. If I HAD to be a critic then I would say the pig was a little salty, but still really flavorful. We ordered coffee with dessert and it comes in a French press, soooo good. I LOVE this place! We ate her for lunch on New Years Day around 2:30; it was our 3rd or 4th time dining here. We were only 1 or 3 tables in the restaurant, and the service was attentive and friendly. The ambiance in here is awesome; I love the rustic feel with warm wooden furnishings and industrial lighting! They have a main dining room where you have a partial view into the kitchen (there's a window where the food comes out) and a separate bar area, which is what you see and walk through first upon entering. There are several high-top tables in the bar to eat at and a pretty decently long bar. They serve a bottle of tap water to leave on the table, which is appreciated. For an appetizer, we had the chicken wings, which were DELICIOUS! They were a really good size, the skin was perfectly crispy, and the aioli they were served with (on top of) was so tasty. I would go back just for these. For my meal, I had the club sandwich with bacon, which was also so yummy. There was a good amount of thick-cut bacon, and the garlic aioli was a very nice compliment. The bread was good too. My husband got the burger which was also delicious. Their fries are really good as well; they are fresh cut and really tasty. A group of 11 Saturday night, the reservation for 7:30 was sharp right on time. Waiter came over right away took drink orders. They were out of a few on tap beers, but it happens. Appetizers came out at a normal wait, we had ordered the pretzel and calamari,they brought the pretzel and cauliflower that was delicious we didn't complain, our sharp waiter noticed the mistake and had an order of the calamari to the table right away. Why can there be more people like him in the restaurant business. Impressive!. Main course. Our granddaughter had the filet mignon she loved it. My better half had the vegetarian pasta that she enjoyed very much and said that it was very tasty. Granddaughter's friend had pizza, he commented that it was Tasty too. Daughter in law had the chicken that she said was very well prepared. And the rest of us had gone there for the good and flavorful burgers that were all that, and here's why I'm only giving them a four star review .7 of us ordered the burgers medium and they all came out well done,not a hint of pink!. It didn't ruin the night and we did not complain because returning 7 burgers wouldn't be good for any business. Just hope that a place that prides itself for their burgers pays a little more attention when cooking them. A nice time. Noisy but is a bar-bistró so is expected. We'll be back to see if we can score a medium burger. read more
