I decided to order the large portion of the grilled pork bowl (almost $17) and the amount of pork in it is probably not even an ounce. We also ordered small chicken pho and it didn't even come with your traditional toppings of mint, bean sprouts and lime.

Discovered this homey place, in downtown Honesdale, back in August. The summer rolls are incredible as are the pho and rice bowls. Even the drinks are remarkable. You won't be disappointed.

The Summer rolls and tacos were delicious and we would definitely order them again as take out. The dumplings however were quite small, a bit bland & definitely not worth $9 each serving. I enjoyed a delicious iced Vietnamese coffee, he just had water. Space is cozy and clean, service was great but we left after paying $50, which included tax, tip, and charge card fee, feeling as if we were still hungry.

Supposedly vegan pho. That's all that was included, tofu was disgusting especially cut up like that.

Excellent from start to finish! Excellent Vietnamese ice coffee - worth the stop just for the coffee! The best iced coffee I have ever had!!!!! It's an eatery; definitely didn't feel or taste authentic. They didn't even have straws. They waited until after we ordered the smoothies to say so. This is true, because they did that to the other family as well. Who wants a spoon for a drink? I went down to the Turkey Hill and got some straws. The place was cute and attractive, I'll admit. I guess this is probably a good spot for Honesdale. It's probably hard to get what's needed for a restaurant like that in that area. They had a Honesdale tax. Like, what? I'll never go back again; but try it for yourself. I wanted to try a small business instead of going to a larger company out of town. Wentwith friends visiting the area. We ordered the dumplings sandwich a few rice bowls and iced coffees. These were all great BUT 2 of party ordered the soups and they were so salty they were not able to eat them so they asked to be replaced with a rice bowls. Needless to say we paid for All the food even what was not eatable and discarded. High chance we would not return There is one thing when you know what not to order but when you still had to pay the price it is insane. read more

Had to call because they don't post hours online. Upon seating in sticky & unmade table (none were ready) Told that they had no beef for the Pho nor any wontons (this was 1pm - they opened and it was first serving day of the week). The extremely friendly/phony waitress said they had a busy lunch? ??? It was empty...... Should have walked out -but ordered anyway because I was in the mood for Vietnamese. Prices high - quality just blah. The bowl I had was supposed to have Bok Choy - none!. Had to ask for lime and sauce. Food was warm upon arrival. Would not recommend and the extra Honesdale tax charge could not be explained by the waitress ("of course" being her favorite words).... the fact that there were no products was most disappointing. The cleanliness and warm food made it terrible. I RARELY, if ever give bad reviews. But this was so disappointing I had to write this review. I hope the owner reads this and addresses the issues. I very much like this small cafe but you just don't get much for the money. $38 incl tip for two surprisingly small Vietnamese sandwiches, light on the meat, and one soda seems not worth it. I love the unique flavors of Banh Mi but these were just average. The server was nice and attentive. The downtown location is convenient and the setting comfortable. read more

Ordered Pho to go Instead of noodles got the wontons. Was given a pint of clear broth and a container with several mini chickens dumplings and a sprinkling of thin sliced simple green onion and maybe bok choy. Container not even half full. Including tax $17.95. Need I say more? read more

Bà & Me restaurants serve a tightly focused menu featuring simple Vietnamese dishes such as summer rolls filled with vegetables and herbs; a signature bánh mì-style hot dog with pickled carrots; and a variety of pork, chicken, beef and mushroom preparations available on fresh baguettes or over jasmine rice or vermicelli rice noodles. In lieu of dessert, sweet and strong Vietnamese coffee does the trick. The food is skillfully prepared and made from very fresh, high-quality ingredients sourced whenever possible from local farms and purveyors. The casual place settings and takeout packaging are all made from compostable, biodegradable or recyclable materials.

Meet the Business Owner: Nhi M.

Born in Nha Trang, Vietnam, Mundy moved to the U.S. with her family as a young child. She grew up in the Midwest, helping out after school at her parents' Vietnamese restaurant, which ultimately burned down in a grease fire. "Opening Bà & Me has been a bit like resurrecting a part of my heritage," says Mundy. The business name is an allusion to both the classic bánh mì sandwich and to her family--"bà" in Vietnamese means grandmother and "m " means mother.

Okay so here is my personal take on this quaint little restaurant from my visit the end of July 2019. First, the atmosphere was cute. The tiny little alleyway reminded me so much of SoHo. I definitely got a very hipster-like vibe coming from this place (which is nice and peaceful to me). Secondly, the staff were nice and greeted us kindly. You always want to feel welcomed when dining at any place, especially a new one to add to your eating adventures. However, the food took forever to arrive to our table and when it did, my Pho broth was not even hot. That was one of many little concerns and complaints I have. My appetizer, pork summer rolls, did not arrive before my meal. It was also not made the traditional way in which I am used to with pork belly but it was okay. I had to wait 20 minutes for that, which was very annoying. When the rolls did arrive, they were not wrapped very tightly so my fillings were just all over the pace. The main course for me was Chicken Pho and it did not hit the spot for me. The Pho noodles, itself, was not soft but rather hard as if it were not drenched in boiling water or it just wasn't done long enough. I did not wait 20-30 minutes for my food to disappoint. My boyfriend ordered the Vietnamese tacos (which is not a thing, btw) which he seemed to enjoy. But if you are going to claim to be an authentic Vietnamese Restaurant then your authentic foods on the menu should really hit the spot. The iced coffee did come out in a slow drip which was very cute and reminded me of home, so that was a nice little touch. Overall, if you know about Vietnamese Cuisine then you will not likely enjoy the foods here. But I think most tourists or just people looking to try some Viet foods locally, this place is not the worst you can do. Hope this review helps! read more

Had a wonderful experience here. The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, and the food was absolutely delicious and genuinely authentic. Everything tasted fresh, homemade, and prepared with real care and attention. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing, with beautiful music playing in the background and a lovely view from the window that made the whole place feel even more special. You can truly feel the heart and passion behind this café. Definitely a place worth coming back to. Highly recommended! read more

Well it's not authentic based on all the other places I eat at in Queens and Brooklyn which are the real deal elmhurst , flushing and Bay ridge . But yes maybe you just cook a different style but for me it's not the same . I wish You luck and I'm sure You have a fan base that likes your style . This was my first taste of Vietnamese cuisine. The service was quick. The food was light, but fresh and flavorful. If I were staying in the area longer, I would go back and try something new. My wife had the soy glazed mushroom noodle bowl along with the garden summer rolls. I had the 5 spice chicken sandwich. The food is delicious. The atmosphere is welcoming and quaint. I highly recommend this restaurant. I had the beef noodle bowl and a spring roll. I left with a soy glazed mushroom sandwich, a tofu noodle bowl and 4 spring rolls for my husband. Love, love, love this place!!! read more
