It's quite busy here on a Friday night... always a good sign. I stopped by because the photos on Yelp looked delicious. My friend and I ordered the chicken kabob plate and the chicken was delicious, really nicely seasoned. I wanted to order a house salad with chicken on the side and the staff up front quickly told me that it's more cost effective to just order a chicken plate with all salad for $10. I always appreciate when someone helps me save money. I wasn't so happy with my salad because there was only one little side of vinaigrette with it. I'll ask for extra next time! After the many times I have been here, I was surprised that I have yet to write a review! Baba Kabob is my go to spot when anyone is feeling Mediterranean/Halal food. Everything I have had here is so good! Over the years prices have raised, but never to the point where I stop coming. There is always a good amount of parking, and the food tastes just as good in store as it does togo! My typical order is the Chicken Shawarma Sandwich, which is more like a pita bread wrap! Whenever I get it, I must add feta cheese to add that element of funkyness to complement the deep chicken flavor. It is a great meal if you add the fries too! I also really enjoy their Gyro Salad and Chicken Shawarma Salad. It is a sizable portion and feels even slightly healthier. This is the only spot I have ever tried Bolani, and I am so thankful for my friend who introduced it to me! Bolani is an Afghan flatbread stuffed with various savory fillings. Both the potato and the chive versions of Bolani are super good! It is great to just order and share amongst friends! One time, we even bought a couple of these instead of getting pizza for a party! Found this Afghan spot in Miramar and had to try it! It was more of a fast food style which we weren't expecting but that didn't change our experience. We ordered at the counter, and was able to get a seat immediately. For two, we shared the kofta plate and the Qubuli pulao with lamb shank. It was definitely a lot of rice between the two, and we could've used more of everything else on each. However, the meat on both plates were very tender and flavorful and the meal is definitely filling! It's located on a quieter street and in a large complex so parking is very easy! read more

Really enjoyed our meal from Baba Kabob. We got the kabuli and kofta for takeout. Service was quick and efficient. My favorite was the kabuli- the lamb shank is so tender, the pallow delicious and perfect with the green chutney and yogurt sauce. Will have to try the bolanj next time! read more

This is the BEST Mediterranean Restaurant I have been to in San Diego. I first had the Chicken Schwarma sandwich, and Humus & Pita. The Sandwich was excellent. The second time I went I ordered "another" chicken Schwarma, and I tried their Beer/Chicken Combo. WOW! amazing. I also had the walnut desert and the Baklavah. This is a small unassuming store in Miramar that boasts a lot of high accomplishments, being in the top ranks of Yelp both in San Diego and in the nation! And once I had my food, I understood why. It was a quiet evening when I went. I ordered a Falafel Sandwich, spicy, and my boyfriend had a spicy Chicken Shawarma Salad. Once we ordered and sat down, more customers arrived for to-go and pick up orders. The staff were really friendly and chatty with the customers, you could tell some were usuals that had formed a nice bond with them. The falafel sandwich was so good - the pita was warm and fluffy, the vegetables crisp and the falafel was thick, savory, slightly crisp on the outside and so yummy! It all paired so well together, I can't stop thinking about it. They were also super generous with the amount of falafel in there. My boyfriend's salad was also really good! We've heard great things from this place because one of our favorite IG foodie influencers (Food With Soy) visited this spot when she made her trek down here. It did not disappoint. Best meal I've had so far in Miramar! Falafel is one of my favorite foods, and this place does it very well. The falafel sandwich is stuffed with large falafel, tahini, and lots of veggies. I got the spicy one which was just hot enough to really enjoy and not be overwhelmed. It's fairly cheap too. The fries are perfect. They're like the classic food court style crinkle cuts. The man at the counter was extremely personable and does his job very well. He even asked me how my day was going and all that stuff. I really liked every part of the dining experience and will definitely come again. Anyone who likes food should! I feel as though I should leave a recommendation. Baba Kabob is a HALAL Afghani restaurant in a quiet strip mall, shared with several Indian restaurants. It's an extremely casual restaurant, with ordering done at the front. They have a handful of tables to dine in, and plenty of parking. My group ordered mantu, qabuli pallow, and chapali kabob to share. Mantu ($16) - This dish consisted of dumplings filled with beef and onions, topped with a tomato based garlic sauce and a veggie mixture. It was the best dish my group tried here and so aromatic. It's definitely one of my favorites when eating at Afghani places and the version they have here is excellent! Qabuli pallow with lamb shank ($14) - Afghani places are known for their qabuli pallow dishes, so I had to try it here. It's basically seasoned brown rice (pallow) topped with carrots and raisins. A tender piece of lamb shank accompanied this dish as well as mint chutney that helped to enhance the flavor profile. Chapali Kabob ($11) - This consisted of half a pound of seasoned ground meat fried, served on a bed of rice with a salad. The kabob was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside and tasted great, especially with some mint chutney. Overall I really enjoyed the food here, the seasoning used was perfect and this tasted like authentic Afghani food. The pricing is a little on the higher side for their specialties, but the kabobs and sandwiches here are extremely reasonably priced. I'll definitely be back when I want to get my Afghani food fix! read more

Just note that when you order here, it's like family style portions, at least for the items we got. We got three items: Kabuli - This is a seasoned brown rice with carrots & raisins served with a lamb shank. The rice is so tasty, you can eat this by itself! For those of you who don't like the gamey taste of lamb, their lamb only had a hint of that, just enough that you know you're eating lamb. Mantu - Dumplings with beef & onions with garlic sauce & a veggie mix on top. I love dumplings, especially when the wrapper is not so thick! Oh, and well, there's beef in it! :-) Potato Bolani - Flat bread with savory potato & spices. This is soo good. I think I could've just ate this all by itself! It's served with a yogurt sauce. This is an absolutely superb place. In recent years it has had more competition with kabob restaurants including a chain. However, this is THE BEST place for kabobs. My niece had their beef kabob here and couldn't stop talking about it. She actually had dreams about their beef kabob. This is NOT the same as many of the other kabob restaurants. These are supremely tender, juicy and perfectly spied (if want them hotter) kabobs. You get a very generous portion of kabob PLUS rice and their house salad. Other items are also superb. Stay away from this establishment. The owner (older, bald guy) HUNG UP the phone on me after calling to share our experience with our order yesterday. We ordered 2 Bolani yesterday and I called to share feedback that the combo Bolani had almost 0 potato in it. From the get go he told me it didn't make sense, and he was getting short with me as if I was lying. He became extremely rude and said, "what, you want another one?" I said no, I don't want a another one. I'm calling to share my experience that I paid extra to have potato and there was almost none it, except for the corner piece which has a teeny bit. I also shared that when I asked for plates the employee handed me styrofoam plates to which I said, "oh styrofoam is bad and I don't want those." When I mentioned this to the owner right now he's like, "well when we run out we have no choice but to use them." Again this was a lie, as there was the same amount of plates that were non-styrofoam which he didn't give me. It's 2024 and for a San Diego business to give those out when they had the same amount of regular plates at the register is unacceptable. There was another pile of regular plates right next to it, and despite my comment and sharing that styrofoam is not healthy, especially with hot food, I was not offered it. In the picture, the right one was the one that was combo and supposed to have potato in it. As you can see, all of it looks like it's chives/gandana to the point where we couldn't tell which box was which. Everyone who wanted combo didn't even finish their pieces because it was empty. read more

Then the kabobs were excellent - very well seasoned and embodied a delightful smokiness to them. The salad was fresh and tangy dressing was a fabulous contrast to the other flavors on the plate. Afghan food in Miramar!?!? Although we only order from about 5 items on the menu, it never disappoints. Food is hearty, flavorful and an assortment of spices going on. As usual, we love potatoes so the Potato Bolani is a must. I love a good kofta, so the kofta plate it is. As for the kids who aren't used to so much flavor going on, it's really good chicken tenders for them. Great for a quick pickup lunch or dinner. read more
