Pretty good find! This was our first meal after arriving in the area. The restaurant didn't seat very many, but we were lucky enough to snag a table. The guy at the counter was courteous while taking our order. The food took a bit to come out, but it was well worth the wait. My husband and I shared some gyro fries. They were soooo delicious! Came here yesterday due to a video I saw on NBC San Diego saying this restaurant made YELPs Top 100 restaurant list. I ordered the gyro combo box which came with fries and "brownie" when it actually it was substituted for a Costco granola chewy bar smh. The gyro was really good and they give a lot of fries but there was no flavor to the fries at all. The combo comes with a drink and if you check in on Yelp you get a free fountain drink. My wife ordered the swarma chicken and gyro meat over rice plate. She got her food spicy which was pretty good. I should of chose that combo over the gyro combo but you live and you learn. What we got: - Baba Kofta ($13.99) 5/5: This was the real star of the show. The Kofta is made of beef, I think. The rice was a bit dry, but the yogurt sauce they give makes it taste a lot better. The platter is huge for 13.99 and could definitely last me for at least 2 meals. I really liked how fresh the meat tasted as well as the green and yogurt sauces. The salad they served was also pretty good. - Gyro Fries($13.99) 5/5: We split this and it was so delicious. The meat was very flavorful and I loved how much sauce they added on top of the fries. I can't believe that I haven't given baba kabob a review, seeing as I've been eating there at least once a week for the last couple of months. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have not been disappointed with anything that I've eaten from there. Their chicken kabobs are the best that I've ever had and they're consistently always good. The mix bolani (with chives and potatoes) is always a crowd favorite, so much so that we had their bolani at our engagement party. The chapli kabob is to die for. And don't sleep on the kabuli. We first learned about this place through Yelp's Top 100 list for 2023. This has been our third time ordering from Baba Kabob, and each time was a mostly positive experience save for a few criticisms. FOOD: On all three visits, we have ordered the beef and lamb kabob, with an extra skewer each. The kabobs are what keep us coming back. The first time we tried it, the kabobs were spiced just right, however the lamb was a bit on the tougher side. The second time we visited, both types of meat were cooked well, but the rice was slightly dry and hard. The last time we ordered from there, the lamb was exceptionally good, however the food was on the saltier side and over spiced. We also tried the Potato Bolani on our first visit, and we enjoyed it, especially with the green sauce. The only negative thing about it would be the price. For almost $13 dollars for an appetizer, we feel it is a bit overpriced for bread and potato. For an additional $2-$3 dollars, you can get a full meat entree. We also tried the Kofta (Kobideh) for the first time during our latest visit. It was delicious but we found that it has quite a bit of cartilage. SERVICE: The elder man at the counter tends to be unfriendly, but the younger guy is nice and helpful. LOCATION: The restaurant is located in the Little India Center on Miramar and Black Mountain Road. There is adequate parking at the center.
