It was all very tasty - and we had individual tea pots with our choice of loose-leaf tea (I went with the Russian Caravan and lavender earl grey - both very tasty!) You have to try this place!! A friend and I had afternoon tea there today and it was so much fun! You order tea (there have to be 50 different kinds and you can try a different kind each time) and they bring you a tray of little sandwiches and treats. They were able to accommodate dairy free and gluten free food for me and everything was so good! We sat inside which was a little loud but the decor is super cute inside and out. We had 2 servers helping us and they were both very nice and attentive and their tea recommendations were spot on. I do recommend making a reservation (especially on the weekends), but this is a great experience and I can't wait to go back. read more

The best way I can describe Babe's is a "Hidden Gem." First and foremost you walk up to a secret garden and then enter into an intimate tea room. You will want to make reservations as there are limited seats and you have a limited time which is a fair 2 hours. Their menu is made up of so many options but their team will gladly guide you through everything. There are so many gluten free and dairy free options it is amazing along with vegan options. They have a cocktail menu but we stuck with tea and it was fabulous. We shared everything. The service is excellent and everything is so full of flavor. "It's cute" is my initial reaction upon entering Babe's Tea Room. And it is notably cute especially for Instagram, TikTok, or whatever social media people like to share their experiences on nowadays. To begin, my enemies and I started off with the Afternoon Tea option of unlimited tea that included an assortment of sandwiches and pastries. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to sit outside since it was a little chilly inside. It was fun to sip tea and spill tea whilst munching on small finger foods. Came here for the afternoon tea in the evening with my family. The best part of our evening was the server. She was very friendly, took care of our table and apologized when a few things didn't go as planned. I could tell she really wanted us to have the best experience that we could. Also, there was a huge selection of teas and we tried some really good ones. The cafe is really cute and I like the way it is decorated. The weak point of the experience didn't fall on the server, but rather the restaurant in general. They asked us when we made the reservation if we had any allergies, which one person in my party did, and they said they only had one item that would be a issue for the person, but we should be okay. When we got there, though, since the main chef had gone home for the day, the server said that she was not 100% sure all of the food was safe for one of the allergies. This should have been worked out ahead of time, especially since they had prompted the question to us (at the time of booking), versus us telling them when we sat down. As such, they gave us a smaller tower and charged us less for that person - but it was disappointing since there were no sweets on the smaller tower / good substitutes, which I would have rather paid full price for equivalent substitutes. Also, the tea treats overall were not that exciting and plentiful. For the rest of the us in our party, we only received two macaroons (for three people), so just felt like there could have been a few more sweets on the tower (so at least each of us have our own). The bread for the sandwiches was a little dry, and everything needed just a little more seasoning/something to make them stand out (like more curry in the sandwich). Some of the treats, such as a rice krispie treat and chocolate fudge brownie squares, felt like something I could get at any bakery. I was hoping we would get an arrangement of scones (not just the two on our plate) or some petit fours that one sees at a fancy tea. Came here for a birthday party, and boy were the busy! There is a two hour limit which makes sense and the place is actually very small. We got the tea party set. First of all I need to say that it is super pretty and cute inside. Definitely great for bridal parties or birthdays. They have a variety of teas which was hard to choose what to drink. I got here late so the party already ordered. The scones were delicious I loved the variety of jams and butter you get, they were not overly dry which I appreciated. The small Sandwiches were a little dry for me. And one of the cheeses didn't match with the sandwich... it was too hard I felt. All of the sweet pastries were great! I love Babes downtown Denver and thought I would enjoy the Golden location, too. However, I would not go back to the Golden location again. Our teapot was chipped- they served tea in chipped glass which is ridiculous. Once I pointed it out, they brought us a new pot - that was also chipped. The tea saucer was also chipped. The waitress who brought us our towers of food could not tell us about all of items - she just didn't know and didn't find out for us. She also didn't bring any Devonshire cream, lemon curd, or jelly. We had to ask another waitress for those items. We understand our reservation was for 90 minutes. They didn't provide any reminder on time and instead was very curt when she came to tell us we needed to be done. The waiteress was confused when we paid in cash and didn't offer any change. When you're paying $199.64 for three tea experiences, one would think the service and attention to detail would be better. Save your money and spend it elsewhere. read more

My sister and mother go to tea rooms all over and rave about them. Yesterday my sister to my wife and myself along to try this tea room. Initially our experience was a bit bumpy. We arrived about five minutes early, which seemed to cause the manager problems (I am assuming she was the manger, as she seemed to be issuing the instructions) because there were still people at our table. Only half the tables were in use, so this seemed confusing to me. One of the other servers there suggested seating us at a different table. The manager very curtly told us, "Well just follow her around to your table then." The lady who showed us to our table was very pleasant, taking time to explain the menus and specials. She told us the teas were unlimited, we could have two pots at the table at a time, and there was no problem with returning partially filled pots. We had an unlimited tasting with a seasonal offering of sandwiches and sweet pastries. The next hour or so was excellent, had the experience stayed the same this would have been a five star review. As we worked through a small list of teas (each one of us proposed three teas we would like to try and we kept a list rating them) the servers changed. A younger woman took over, as well as the manager. After our 4th set of teas they began removing items from our table, and then disappeared. Eventually I went to the counter to tell them we were ready for a different tea. I used this opportunity to also engage in a short conversation about the business, there second location, and the unique wallpaper in the lavatory. The shop was mostly empty at this time, maybe three tables including ours. The younger woman was friendly, but explained she was newer to the shop. The manager was very abrupt and dismissive, but did answer my question about the shop in Golden. At the end of our afternoon there we tasted 12 teas. I must admit I am not a fan of tea, but we found a few that were very good, and my sister and wife decided to buy some. My sister left after paying the main bill and I went to get our car from the garage (parked a couple of blocks away), my wife went up to buy some teas (at about 18$ per pouch) and enquire about the macaroons ( which were absolutely delicious). She related the manager was very abrupt, slamming the purchases in the bag. My wife described the managers demeanor as mean and angry. As my wife and mother were putting on there coats to leave the manager told them the next customer was there waiting for the table, so they needed to leave. Once again, the shop has less than half the tables utilized. As they were obviously leaving, there was no need for the aggressive bullying to get them out the door. When I pulled a a few minutes later I was surprised to see them standing outside by the alley. My wife explained that the tea room staff made it very uncomfortable for them to wait inside. The tea was very good, the sandwiches were very good, the service was not worth the cost, and soured the whole experience. We will not be back ( my sister has recommended Brown Palace as a better experience if we decide to try another tea room). read more

I am blown away at the empathy and service the staff had! The energy of the tea room helped calmed my tears, anxiety, and sadness and the staff could see I was struggling and were AMAZING! The staff seemed to be miserable. If you are going for afternoon tea go hungry!! I mean like when every minute you don't have something in your tummy is agony. You won't regret it. You get two slices of four different tea sandwiches, two scones with Devonshire cream, lemon curd and strawberry jam, and four bite sized dessert. Tea is all you want!! I had three pots. Not huge pots. Good for sharing if you just want one cup. I drank two before moving onto a different tea. Be careful about parking garages. I was attracted by a sign saying starting at $4 but I think it was per half hour with you being charged if you get close enough. I was parked less than two hours and paid $16! Might be a little weird but for the Devon (I think) cheddar and apricot spread I also ate with the rest of my strawberry jam and some lemon curd. I went here with two other friends on a Friday afternoon for traditional afternoon tea. My friend made a 3:30pm reservation and we were seated immediately. We were able to sit outside and really enjoy a beautiful sunny day in May. The outside decor was adorable and great for pictures as there were flowers strung everywhere in large volumes. With traditional afternoon tea, you get unlimited teas. I think we tried about 10 different teas between us and enjoyed all of them. The curry chicken salad sandwich was my favorite and is one that I cannot wait to come back for. The price for the experience is totally worth it and all the staff quickly exchanged tea pots and got fresh tea brewing. I think the excellent service is the only reason we were able to try so many different teas in such a short span of time! read more

My kids LOVE having tea here, they usually get the afternoon tea package with tiered trays of little goodies of sandwiches, scones and desserts. They have such a wide variety of teas (non-caffeinated too!) and they love it. There also have smaller kids tea cups you can request, and the kids LOVE it. Its ridiculous how much fun they have here. I'm a fan too. The place is nice and clean, super friendly staff and really caters to the kids, which I think makes them love it more. I myself am a coffee person, and the coffee is also excellent. I love taking the kids here, they think its a really special treat to be able to go. That being said- I called and made a reservation a month ago for my friends bridal shower. Pinky's up! We rented out Babe's Tea room for a friend's birthday and we had an amazing afternoon at this cutie English cafe. Babe's has created a darling, traditional tea room along with a menu that is heavily rooted in its owner's English heritage. The tea room is contemporary and clean with lots of natural light. Pretty pastel shades dress the walls - sky blues, pinks & lavenders - while rich velvet pillows and benches adorn the sides of the room. The Babe's Tea room staff is sweet as can be & big thanks to Ainsley, Bailey, Kat and Cassie for taking such good care of our group. Everything we needed and ordered came out quickly and with big smiles from the staff! Since we rented out the entire space, we were able to bring in desired birthday decor and also pick the music while we had tea. We had balloons delivered and brought in basic table decorations (pink table runner, flower petals and seat assignment cards) that wouldn't interfere with all the food and drinks that would be at the table. To rent out Babe's Tea Room from 3pm to 5pm, it was $200 for the space and then there was a $600 food/drink minimum. Babe's Tea Room offers Bottomless Bubbles which our group naturally took full advantage of. Bottomless Mimosas are $20/person and Bottomless Bellinis are $24/person. Babe's also offers mini and full bottles of champagne for purchase! Our entire group opted for the full Afternoon Tea spread which comes with a delicate assortment of finger sandwiches, miniature scones served with jam, homemade lemon curd and Devonshire Cream, Scottish shortbread, homemade petit fours, french macarons and unlimited choices of tea. Afternoon Tea runs for $35/person, $24/children, and you can add prosecco flutes on for $10/person. Everything was so tasty & my favorites were the cucumber finger sandwiches, the scones with devonshire cream and the french macarons! For tea we had the Dragonwell Green Tea, a sweet and fragrant green tea from Hangzhou in the Zhejiang province of China. We also had the English Breakfast Black Tea, a brisk stimulating tea with a bright copper liquor. My favorite was the Dragonwell. Ok let me start off by saying I had an absolutely wonderful experience here. The ambiance is fantastic. They did a great job of decorating their door with a ton of flowers which I can attest as we sat outside caught the eye of every passerby. I lost count of how many times I saw gaggles of girl's walk by saying "we have to go here" well done. You must sit outside as it is an insta Girls dream to get photos with that lovely flower backdrop! The inside is cute but does not compare. The chandeliers are nice but apart from that it was a bit plain. Next, the staff was amazing. Super sweet and attentive i truly felt like we got 5 star service. They checked on us frequently and even made sure we were able to get a set by the flowers rather than the street. Seriously too notch. Now for the food. It was good don't get me wrong, the pastries were lovely and I thought it was awesome that Theo have vegan and gluten free options. But the scones and tea sandwiches were good but not great. Now keep in mind I am comparing this to the best afternoon tea in the world Dalloway Terrance in London so perhaps the comparison is not quite fair but it is honest. Would I still come back and get the tea? Absolutely. But is there a teensie bit of room for improvement? Certainly. They just really know how to perfect a scone over there in the UK, and honestly are we surprised??? I ordered takeout from their website and paid in advance. When I showed up at the restaurant the doors were locked and the lights were off. It looked like the location was under construction (I have been to this location once before a few months prior so I knew I was in the right place). I tried calling multiple times but no one answered. I checked everywhere online and all signs pointed to the fact that they should have been open. There wasn't even a sign on the door that stated they were temporarily closed. Poor oversight and very irresponsible of management. Not only did I not get my order, I contacted them via their website contact form (which promises a response within 48 hours) for a refund. I received no response and had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. It's a shame because I enjoyed afternoon tea here once before, but now I will not be returning. read more

We had a really enjoyable afternoon tea here. They have a massive selection of teas, including classic black and green teas, as well as numerous flavored teas. We choose a green, the Kukicha, and a cherry almond flavored tea, both were excellent. The tiered food presentation was pretty, with two lower levels of sandwiches, a layer of scones, and a layer of small dessert items. All were tasty and it made for a filling meal. Came here for afternoon tea and the experience was just okay. First, we were made to wait ten minutes past our reservation time to be seated. When we were seated, one of our place settings was missing an item. Of the place settings, at least one had leftover tea remnants sitting in the strainer plate, so I question that everything had been washed. One of the teapots we were served had a large chip, disfiguring the spout. We ordered a bottle of Prosecco, which was immediately forgotten. When we reminded our server of the Prosecco she was apologetic and brought it right away, but went on to over pour and spill some of it. These are all small details but add up. The tea, however, was AMAZING. We tried four different kinds and each was really good and unique. The pastries were delicious as well, though it may have been nicer to each get our own tower, rather that's a single two tier between the four of us. Overall, the quality of food/drink was great, but you go to a place like this to feel classy and indulgent, and I felt some of the service and details were lacking for the overall experience. read more

We didn't get the chance to actually try Babe's because our reservation for tea was canceled! I'd booked holiday tea about 3 weeks earlier for outdoor seating and they called me with less than 24 hours notice saying their outdoor seating was no longer an option because of the weather. It's going to be 64 degrees today... They absolutely should not offer additional outdoor seating in December if it's not really an option. I think they just didn't want to clear off the patio. We'd planned this tea with my cousin who is home from Rhode Island for the holidays. Her husband is a major in the Army so it's very rare for them to be able to come home. We both have 3 year old daughters who adore each other and we're beyond excited for a fancy tea party. They offered to reschedule us... in January. The first person I spoke to was comically unhelpful. She said reservations are made weeks in advance. Oh, like my reservation was?! I spoke to a manager who was more helpful and was able to offer us a squeezed in table but it wasn't until 2 pm, which is right in the middle of naptime. Ultimately, we decided to get brunch and pedis closer to home. I'm so disappointed, as we were really looking forward to a special experience with our girls. Had a very disappointing experience at Banes Tea Room on Saturday July 26. We had an 11:30 reservation for 4. Due to the heat I called the day before and requested an indoor reservation. I was assured this would be no problem. When we arrived on Saturday we were told we had to sot outside in the 95 degree heat because I had made an outdoor reservation or we could wait until 4:30. They refused to listen when I said I had called and tried to keep ushering us outside into the heat. Not a single apology for their refusal to acknowledge or honor their word, we were inly met with rudeness and arrogance. For an establishment that is a "special treat," we were tested horribly They could have cared less that they were trying to seat us outside with no shade in the 90 degree heat and kept repeating I had made an outdoor reservation. We wound up leaving, our plans ruined and needless to say I will never be back. Zero stars. read more

This place has been on my list forever, so glad I finally got the chance to go. Parking is tricky in this neighborhood, so plan ahead. They made sure we didn't exceed our 90 minute reservation allotment, so you wouldn't want to be late. The place is cute right when you walk up. I was there with a group of eight and our table was ready when we arrived. They started us with a butterscotch black tea right away while we got settled and waited for everyone. The food was a lot and no one left hungry. My favorite were the cucumber sandwiches and the beignets. The beignets were the bomb! They offered both gluten-free and vegetarian items. I loved that we could try as many teas as we wanted and they never let us run out. In addition to the black tea, we got the chocolate chai (it was a bit spicy for me), China rose petal, coconut custard roobios (described as a favorite by our server), and the powerhouse (another one described as a favorite). A couple of us really wanted to try the Hawaiian colada, but they were out. They had cute accessories like the honey container and the tea timer. We still had food left after our 90 minutes, so they gave us boxes to take it home. They weren't able to split checks for us, but did say they could run multiple credit cards.
