This place has an excellent menu with tons of sandwich options, delicious smoothies, and literally some of the biggest pastries Ive ever seen. My friend and I were looking for a little sandwich shop in town. And we stumbled across this one. We've never been here before. As we pulled into the driveway we saw an employee in the drive through. She was using a rubber spatula to pick some kind of bug off the ground. Then proceeded to place it in the window!!!! Right where food is served!!! We decided to shake that off and go inside. Since we've never been here we didn't know the "proper protocol" so we asked if we seat ourselves (that should be a huge hint to employees we've never been there) we were told yes. After a few minutes we asked how to order and one of the employees looked irritated with us. And with a snappy response said, "read the board" After we ordered the guy at the register was as lost as anyone could be. We had to tell him what we ordered and he just looked at us as lost as one could be. Then I had to ask him to ring us up. He then asked what we ordered. ( obviously he was in some other land) Besides the employees being rude, unhelpful, lazy, and lost. Our food was great. And the portions were huge. The owner needs to get rid of the lazy helpers and hire people who actually like their job and want to be there. I will tell people about the good food. But with strong warning of the most unhelpful employees I've ever encountered. They seem to have the figure it out yourself I'm busy doing nothing attitude. So sad this place only has 2 reviews (at the time of this writing). Can't say how happy I am to have trusted those 2 positive patrons of persuasion and stopped into Babes'. Aside! The address may be off from where Yelp says it is. I think the number's right but the bakery was a few blocks south of where the map said it was (correct side of the street). Confusing but well worth finding it. Don't know if it's still off but you should find the bakery on the northeast corner of Hilcrest and Hwy 99 (NW 6th St.) - hope that helps some wandering soul. End aside! OK, have to say that it was funny reading another Yelp review that indicated Grant's Pass's eating establishments only served small portions. Definitely not an issue @ Babes'. Not realizing how big a sandwich was here, I ordered a full sandwich, a muffin, a pizza roll, and a smoothie for my family of 5. We could have eaten *just* the sandwich and probably been OK for a few hours. Elf moment: Have you seen these sandwiches? They're GINORMOUS! And size is good and all, but how was the food? Awesome. Seriously loved every bit of every bite. The pizza roll was surprisingly awesome. Got it on a whim and playing the "get a bunch of stuff and hope my kids will eat some of it" game. It was like a single-serve pizza wrapped in a bun - quite tasty indeed! Absolute only downside in the whole experience was that we passed Grant's Pass after 4 PM (when they close) so I didn't get to hit Babes' again ("hit babes again" sounds so wrong out of context...) on the return trip. Anyway - not enough good stuff to say. Were I a local it would be a new favorite. As an in-frequent passer-by on I-5 I don't know if I'll be back for a long time. My husband and I live in California, but wanted to have our son's birthday party in Oregon at his grandparents' home. I didn't want a run of the mill birthday cake from Safeway so I found this bakery online. When I called they assured me they could make a Spider-man cake with my son's name on it. It was supposed to be vanilla with a chocolate fudge filling and buttercream frosting. When we picked it up, I was disappointed. It looked like something I could have done at home. Then when we cut into it, the cake was dense, the filling had been soaked up by the cake, and the frosting was so thick that there was more of it than actual cake. No one liked the cake and we would have been better of going to Safeway. My son was so disappointed. This bakery should stay away from making cakes! read more

Let me start off by saying that I love breakfast, coffee and sandwiches. This place had all of those things and they perfected all of them. Unfortunately I didn't officially get to try their lunch and regular sandwiches, I did try their breakfast sandwich. It was delicious, fresh, with lots of flavor, nice combination and you could tell a lot of though went into creating that masterpiece. Their coffee is great as well. Now, don't get me wrong, I like the Dutch Bros as much as the next guy, but it tends to be a tad too sweet for me... This place made it just right, that came out perfect, with no complaints! It was full bodied, strong, semi sweet and very flavorful. I'm definitely impressed and would go to this place back anytime! The staff was very patient, friendly and nice as well. Whether you're looking for just coffee, breakfast, sandwiches, some sweets (with their large cupcake selection), this place seems to have everything worked out just right, down to the science. Really good scratch made bakery, enjoyed the service and saw them wash there hands many times while food prep. The cheerful attudide and great selection was awesome! This place was amazing and the cookies were extremely delicious. The best part is the owner was extremely nice and friendly. You can tell that she has an amazing and fiery passion for what she does. My wife wanted a cup of chocolate to dip the cookie in and she whipped us up some of the most amazing fudge sauce that we've ever had. It was delicious and she even gave it to us for free. Updated review, but just for dessert-a-palooza. I had a fatty day yesterday, and got a cupcake! Kids had red velvet. I had carrot cake. ~carrot cake was pretty great, but nothing spectacular. ~The bite I stole from my 9 year old of the red velvet was amazing. You made him not notice that the frosting was cream cheese. I can't even do that, and I rock at cream cheese frosting! Would be 5 stars if the cupcakes weren't like $3. Not being cheap, but they are far from gourmet. There is a little place in London that sells gourmet cupcakes for £2, and they are huge and incredible. I know my cupcakes. It was a nice bakery with lots of cute tiny cupcakes in the display window. We came here for their sandwiches, which turned out to be fine. I am glad I got a half, because they are HUGE! And even so it took we a while to eat it, because the bun is pretty fluffy and thick. The bread was nice, but it was a bit too much of it for my taste. I'd prefer a thinner slice... My husband got a veggie sandwich, and I got a Greek special with a house salad. Both sandos were fine, with lots of fresh ingredients, but they tasted bland. The salad itself was good, but the dressing that came with it was so sweet that it tasted more like watery jam. Thankfully, it was served on the side, so I asked for the basic olive oil and vinegar dressing instead, and they provided that right away. The salad was huge, served on a long rectangular platter and had lots of fresh walnuts and pieces of pear, and a couple of large strawberries sliced up and arranged in a little mound the center. My daughter seemed to enjoy her white and blue vanilla cupcake. I liked that it was small, just right to enjoy something sweet without pigging out on it. read more

I've tried so many times to love this place. I usually order via phone & go thru the drive thru....Well the drive thru is not for pick up only, you can roll up and order so that means you can be stuck behind other cars while they wait for their order to be made (while yours is getting cold and soggy!) and this isn't fast food. Really inefficient process. But my biggest disappointment is they NEVER get the order right. Today is the last day I'll spend money here. Wish it was better. On the upside, if you like playing roulette with sandwiches this is the place for you! You never know what you'll get! read more

They might have fantastic food but we will never know! We walked in at 11:04am, a somewhat large group (9 of us including 2 smalls) and on a road trip. Had just left hotel that did not have breakfast so we all wanted breakfast. Now I know a LOT of chain restaurants have a policy to stop breakfast at a certain time. But there was no sign, nothing on website, no place where it indicated they stopped at 11. We were told at register that we couldn't order breakfast. I knew my out of state visiting family (who were all weary from road tripping already) were not going to be happy. We even asked if they could possibly make an exception (is it impossible to pull out a few eggs to put on sandwiches instead of lunch meat?) because we barely missed the cutoff and we were a large group. We probably would easily have spent $100 on food for all of us! I'm sorry but I don't understand how a small business with personal contact cannot make small adjustments for other human beings. Whatever. We found a place that did make breakfast sandwiches and went there instead. ‍ I'm pretty sure whatever inconvenience or cost for making breakfast at 11:07 instead of 10:50 or whatever time would have been outweighed by the amount of service we would've given. Sad to have to be frustrated at what seemed like a place we would've liked. But I guess the bigger loss is probably theirs! read more

Really good sandwiches that are huge! 1/2 sandwich is plenty for lunch. They were a bit heavy on the mustard on all of our sandwiches even for mustard lovers. It was just too much. Great fresh baked bread. The big negative was It took around 40-45 min for our to go sandwiches. This including waiting in line and get our sandwiches. They were super slow while they were making the sandwiches. They just were not moving fast or even at a moderate pace. So I would not go back when I am traveling. It put us a bit behind on our travels. It took double the amount of time we thought it would take. Service was pleasant, but slow and prices are fine. read more

Well, finally found a great sandwich! My husband and I shared a Katie Girl on their jalapeño bread, and honestly we could have shared a half! Meat was good, not just processed slices like you find at most places these days. funky little local bakery serving pastries & breads along with breakfast and lunch. Looks to be in an old bank building possibly. Delicious looking pastry items but they were sold out on many things on our visit. Making all of their breads & bagels in house is a great beginning to lunch and many of the whole sandwiches are quite large. We wisely decided to enjoy halves today. Wife picked the Tommy Pastrami-sourdough roll with pastrami, provolone, lettuce, tomato, and pickle served toasted. My choice was the Italian Dream-italian roll salami, roasted chicken, tomato, red onion, and house sauce (left off the olives) also served toasted. Both sandwiches were delicious and very filling as halves with chips on the side. The rolls had that nice fresh baked texture to them and grilled perfectly. Had to try a brownie to finish and while we thought it was a bit dry, definitely enjoyed the deep chocolate flavor. Next time we will try to arrive earlier for breakfast and better pastry selection.
