Went to celebrate with some family and made reservations here. We were excited to try this place as it was new for a bunch of us. The atmosphere was very comfortable (fireplace going) and I hear they have a nice rooftop but it was still too cold to see it this time unfortunately. The food was pretty solid, the appetizers and dips were tasty. The one negative I'd say are the prices are a little over priced. It's definitely an upscale vibe but my perch dish at $30 and appetizers all $15 or higher was a little steep and not best ever taste vibes. (Also our appetizer with naan bread per photo didn't fill up the plate and when we asked for more it was a $2 charge) Besides all that the food was solid and tasty. The vibe was really strong with the pasta and shrimp scampi dishes. My perch was just alright but wouldn't get again for the price; however the sides of asparagus and goat cheese mashed potatoes were extremely delicious and prepared perfectly. I can't give them any more stars because I was not here to eat. We stopped by for drinks on their rooftop and for the band. The rooftop is beautiful and the fact that they had live music made our night. We found a great spot to sit and listen to music and we did not mind walking up to bar for our drinks. The bartender was quick to take everyone's orders, even on a busy evening. I had the Rooftop Refresher which was Hendricks Gin, Elderflower, lime juice, agave, mint and cucumber. We came here for a large group dinner, and the service was great for accommodating all our needs. We sat upstairs but unfortunately the weather was rainy so we didn't get a great view. The place is cozy though and with a nice intimate interior. Wine was delicious, as was the spinach and artichoke appetizer. I got the steak salad but subbed it with mahi mahi, and this was delicious. Just look up our dinner review a month ago, absolutely loved the dinner. So we came back for lunch.. and ladies and gentlemen, highly recommend going elsewhere for lunch. Top end prices for very sub par food. Ribs were small and very sweet, they were fine but left no where near full. Came here for dinner and we were craving a scenic rooftop dinner. The place is located, in what to me, looks like an office building, with their restaurant on the second floor. If you want to go to the roof top, head up the stairs one more level, where there's a midsized dining area and bar, and a small rooftop eating area. You can sit in the dining area as well, as the large doors let in a nice cool breeze while not obstructing your view. What was ordered: Ahi poke -- marinated fresh Hawaiian tuna, wasabi avocado aioli, scallion, toasted sesame seeds, asian slaw. served with fried wonton skins. I like how the crispy fried wonton skins, complimented the dish Calamari -- fried with peppers and served with creamy horseradish. It had a great crisp breading, and the peppers really added a nice touch... a little spice with each crunchy bite Fish tacos -- these tacos had cajun blackened mahi-mahi, avocado, rice, pineapple pico de gallo, cilantro lime aioli and flour tortillas. The burger had a good flavor to it, but the tomato on it was clearly very mealy and should not have been used. Same for the tomatoes in the salad. Inedible. So, that tells me there are no real kitchen standards. There are a lot of cooks, but not many chefs around here. The flavor of the Caesar dressing was different, not something I would get again. The beer was good. Coleslaw had onion in it, not my fav, but it still had a good flavor to it. The bartender was friendly but you do not bring the check before offering dessert. Tonight the weather was so nice and we wanted to eat on the deck. We showed up and got on the waitlist and luckily someone was getting up from the bar so we had a seat and ordered some drinks while we waited for our table. I tried the blackberry basil mule and it was very good. We also tried the espresso martini. One with cream and one without. It wasn't my favorite but it was okay. When our table was ready we set on the deck and the view was worth the wait. The firecracker shrimp is always a fav and it was my first time having the chicken wings and they very good. They had a Korean bbq flavor. They were served over top of a bed of vegetables that had been soaked in maybe a rice vinegar. Not expecting that but very tasty. I was full but we really wanted to try the wagu burger and that was cooked medium and was perfect. The bartender and our waiter were great as well. The service was friendly and the menu is well varied, with the food coming out at a reasonable pace. My friend's steak salad was massive as were the tacos. Had a wonderful date night at Ryebelle's tonight.  I got the Belle's chicken, which comes with the vegetable of the day (collard greens) and choice of side (garlic mash potatoes).  I didn't care for the collard greens but everything else was phenomenal.  My husband got the burger which he said was delicious but he didn't care for the spread they put on it.  My drink, Luau Lemonade, was tasty and my husband said his drink was also delicious but I don't remember what he got (a rum based cocktail). He did say the truffle fries weren't quite how he remembered them either.  I personally would love to come back and try more items but their menu is pricey so it will be a little while before we come back.  Hopefully I can try dessert next time. read more

The giant rooftop cannot be beat, especially now that it has both a fully outdoor and a hybrid side. Being a tourist in St. Joe's - I did not find that the town had many places to eat. But we saw RyeBelles and made a note to check the place out, especially the roof top dining area. I used waitlist via Yelp to get a place in line and we took our time getting to the restaurant. It was a Thursday evening and about an hour wait. We parked by the Curious Kids' Museum which I believe was free parking. Took a few minute walk to the restaurant and made our way up the stairs to the top. It was a couple flights of stairs and the stairs are pretty wonky. Found our way to the roof top and waited another 10-15 minutes or so. Bathrooms are not down a flight of stairs but very nice and clean. There is a pretty decent bar with TV's and the rest of the roof top are filled with tables/umbrellas that lookout to Lake Michigan. The view is not perfect, instead trees and other tables block a great view. It also depends on where your table is at. However, it was a beautiful night and being outside was the place to be. The hostess did a great job with working hard to flip tables and get people seated. A family tried sitting down without checking-in or putting their name down. The hostess quickly went after them and told them that the tables are not seat yourself and asked for them to get up. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I went with the Sangria which used local favorite Round Barn wine. House salad was fine and had an interesting house salad which contained roasted peppers. I made the firecracker popcorn shrimp appetizer my entree and wow - lots of shrimp and good portion! The only thing that weirded me out was that some shrimp had their poop shoot removed and others did not. Sort of off putting, so I picked around and picked out the ones that did - ick. I will say that the shrimp was a little over done but the flavors were good. My husband got the House Favorite Pizza which he enjoyed and said it was perfectly cooked and crisp. We wanted somewhere to enjoy outside dining..Alas, it was too warm and humid, so we opted for inside dining. Sophia was our server She was very professional and attentive. We each ordered a cocktail, which was delicious. We then ordered an appetizer of the Firecracker Shrimp..OMG!!! THE shrimp were done to perfection, and the sauce was not overpowering ..just plain perfection. We have ordered and eaten this type of shrimp from coast to coast, and this is by far the best we have ever had. Our complements to the kitchen staff. We are just traveling through, but we will be sure to let friends and family know that Firecracker Shrimp if they are in the area, this is a must go to! What was supposed to be a romantic dinner in St. Joe turned into the worst dining experience we've ever had. As long time customers we decided to sit out on the rooftop to overlook Lake Michigan. We asked for an outdoor table and told there were none available. We asked for the one closest to the windows but were told that it was reserved, even though when we called it was "we don't take reservations". We were seated and waited nearly 20 minutes for a waitress. They were walking by but not even saying "hello" or "I'll be there in a minute" - (as a former waiter, a sign of very poor training). I finally went to the bar to order drinks and on the way mentioned to the hostess that we still had not seen a server. She said one should coming there any minute now, and as we watched she passed the table twice - again no indication that a customer was sitting there. By that time 2 tables opened up outside. I took the drinks to the table and then asked the hostess to seat us outside since tables had opened. She informed us that once we have placed a drink or food order we could not be moved. I pointed out that there was nobody waiting or in line, so why couldn't we just move to where we originally requested. She had the manager come over to explain that it is policy not to move customers once they are seated. I told her if we had been told this beforehand, or that we had the option to wait for an outside table, it would be different. But since there was obviously nobody else in line or waiting why not let us move. She refused and agreed with me, upon my asking, that the restaurant policy takes precedence over customer satisfaction. She explained it would be chaos if everyone wanted to move outside when tables became available. I said I understood fully, but in this case there was absolutely no compelling reason not to make an exception given the circumstances - nobody else waiting for it, plus it was the same waitress we had covering both tables. Still "No, we simply refuse to let customers move under any circumstances." We had our drinks, and had our appetizers boxed so that we could leave asap and go somewhere else for dinner. Before we departed I took this picture of the outside table - still empty and nobody waiting for it. The one that was "reserved" was also still empty. To add insult to injury, we found out downstairs that a different waiter, Alex, had actually seen that there was an open table outside and asked if his customers still wanted to be outside and took them there. So much for "restaurant policy". I guess it really depends on who you talk to, a sign of a very unprofessional staff. We dine out quite a bit, both here and in Sarasota, and of all the wonderful places we go, RyeBelles is by far the least customer friendly place we have ever been. What a shame - Stick to your "policy over customers" stance no matter what, and we'll stick to our policy "let's go where there is good food, good service, and a nice dining experience". Unfortunately that means we are never going back to RyeBelles. read more
