If you're in St. Joe, Silver Beach Pizza is a must! We met up with friends for dinner and had another fantastic experience. We started with Cheryl's Salad and the Greek Bruschetta, both were absolutely incredible. I'd give each one a 10/10! For pizza we ordered two large pies, the Carousel and a custom pizza with half mushroom and half mushroom & black olive. Both were outstanding. To drink, our table enjoyed schooners of Oberon, and the spicy margaritas with a splash of pineapple were a huge hit. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The kids also loved getting pizza dough to play with at the table, was such a fun touch that kept them entertained while we waited for our food. From the appetizers to the pizzas, drinks, service, and family-friendly atmosphere, everything was perfect. You can smell the pizza smells like halfway down the block. It'll lure you in for sure. They were very busy on a Sunday around noon, but they were efficient and got us in even quicker than the 30 minutes they told us for a wait. Our pizzas and breadsticks came out quick. Everything was hot, fresh, and tasty. The restaurant is tight on the inside. Felt like we were always in the way. Their website said to not even bother with their parking lot and to just park in nearby paid beach parking. If you're planning on going to the beach as well, it's honestly worth it at $10 for the full day rate. read more

Great service and variety of flavors keeps us coming back whenever we are in town. We went on an early Sunday evening around 5:30. Even though we had a party of 8 they were able to seat us right away. The restaurant is pretty spacious with seating available for larger groups but it is best to call in advance to check on wait times before heading out since they don't take reservations. We got the harvest pizza, the parugula and the bbq chicken pizza. We also ordered 2 salads, Cheryl and Caesar salads. We enjoyed them all. We also asked for hot honey on the side for those that wanted that extra sweet kick. Service was very friendly. The pizzas came out at a reasonable time. The restaurant does get a little loud but since we were seated off the side and in a corner table, it wasn't too bad. read more

Summer hack from a former long time local. Order online and pick up fast. They have two sets of ovens. You can have hot, fresh pizza without waiting in the long lines. Since I was in high school Silver Beach Pizza has been the answer most people give to the question "Where would you recommend grabbing a pizza around here?" Since then, they have also become a great spot to grab a drink, have a gathering upstairs, and have let the history of the building/Amtrak take the lead in the decor selection (specifically upstairs). I typically grab just a cheese pizza with their famous square slices while making sure to grab some red pepper flake packets and parmesan cheese packets. My husband loves pretty much every meat known to man kind on his pizza but he usually chooses or 2 and rotates his choices. We've never been disappointed with the pizza and hope to continue enjoying their food for years to come. Their calzones are also not to be overlooked and I'd highly recommend trying one if you're looking for something different. The parking lot can be a touch tricky, but there is also parking on top of the stairs if you are feeling energetic. Parking is the only tricky part of any visit to Silver Beach Pizza but it's always worth figuring out because it's a great spot that is consistent with their greatness. read more

SBP is always such a great move but we had the best experience this last trip! We had Ray as our waiter and he was amazing, super attentive. We never had to flip our Red/green token. If you're ever in St. Joseph, Silver Beach Pizza is an absolute must! The location alone is worth five stars. It is right by the Amtrak tracks, overlooking Lake Michigan and Silver Beach. Stopped in on a cloudy Sunday for lunch and was seated quickly with no wait for a table of 3. Fast service. We got the pepperoni pizza with onions on half. Came out very hot and fresh. They put the pepperoni under the cheese on the onion side. Pizza was not the best I've ever had but good pizza. The crust is thinner but not crispy. I enjoyed the sauce and it is a very cheesy pizza which I appreciate. We got 1 mixed drink, an order of fries and a large pizza for around $50 before tip. We had lots of leftovers too. This place was recommended by the front desk staff at our hotel. We drove about 15 minutes to get there. Our first impression was that we had to pay for parking but she let us pass since we were dining. We were pleasantly surprised with the atmosphere, friendliness and quality of the pizza. You can either sit at a high top by the open window and look at the train tracks or a booth inside where it was cool and had ceiling fans. We chose inside. Our waitress was Johnny on the spot and took our drink orders. We ordered a custom pizza with our toppings and surprisingly it arrived within 15 minutes and was crispy and well done just like we like it. The pizza was delicious! All I can say is, WOW. I've had every type of pizza imaginable - New York style, Chicago deep dish, Detroit style, New Haven, and everything in between. While Silver Beach Pizza is difficult to categorize, it's nonetheless phenomenal. The pizza itself is a thin-ish crust, cut into squares, like a tavern-style pizza. The flavor is absolutely amazing. Service was fast, and the overall ambiance is very cool. They're located in an old Amtrak depot building that's been expanded, and they've got their parking situation figured out pretty nicely. We ended up here upon recommendation from another bartender. Our bartender said this was the spot all the cool kids hung out late night. We ventured to their upstairs bar with no reservation. Well it was packed and really no way of getting a seating for dining. We stood near the bar until two free seats became open. Once seated we could relax and mingle with the locals. Met some interesting characters but every one was friendly. For food we ordered the pizza. As a person that lives in Chicago, we take pizza seriously. Now this pizza didn't have the looks it was good. The sauce was good, the meat was plentiful and had good quality. The undercarriage was sturdy and not too doughy. Not sure what type of pizza this was supposed to be but it was good. We got the small which was plenty of pizza for 2 people. I can see why people hang here. Food and drinks are unique. They age a whiskey on-site. The views of Lake Michigan are fantastic. Additionally, the Amtrak goes right on by and makes a for fun train experience. My friend and I enjoyed a late lunch at Silver Beach Pizza a couple Saturdays ago. We haven't been to St. Joseph before, but we were surprised to see a beach resort town. In hindsight, it should have been obvious since the pizzeria is named "Silver Beach", but no one was thinking that deeply. Initially, my friend and I were skeptical of the food at Silver Beach Pizza after seeing it right next to the beach since we thought it would be overpriced, subpar, and a complete tourist trap. While there were a lot of tourists, we were pleasantly surprised that we only had to wait 5-10 minutes before we got seated. The pizza we ordered also came out pretty quickly. PARUGULA (10" PIZZA) - 19 The pizza was definitely the two of us, and we were pretty full afterwards. The garlic and parmesan were really baked into the dough, which made me feel like I was eating the perfect cheesy, garlic bread sticks. It was phenomenal and shocking how good it was. The pizza was topped generously with shaved prosciutto, lots of arugula (to the point where it felt like a salad), and more parmesan. I'm not the biggest fan of arugula, but it went well with this pizza. Overall, surprisingly delicious and very affordable -- I definitely understand why this place is popular and would recommend giving their pizza a try! read more

Shocked in the best way. A pizza place on the beach can get away with making terrible pizza and yet they didn't settle for anything less than perfection. Some of the best pizza I've ever had. It looks interesting, and they have some pizzas with interesting toppings, but we got both the Sicilian and the Harvest and both were phenomenal! Bursting with flavor and excellent texture. Unfortunately we got them to-go so I'm not sure how to comment on the service or ambiance but the people were nice and quick, and it looked cute. Drove 2 hours to try this place based on a recommendation and my oh my it was worth it. Just don't get the calzone.
