    Chopped beef plate

Babe's Smokehouse is a must stop if you're in the area. It looks like a truck stop but trust me, this is a great place to have some good BBQ. Babe's Smokehouse was a nice surprise for lunch. After looking on Yelp, everyone agreed Babe's Smokehouse was the best choice after reading the reviews. We just left Disney and I am craving a burger! Once we're seated, our waitress tells us the specials. Once of them was chopped beef smothered in mushrooms and brown gravy. Its still a burger, bring it on! The food tastes like my mom is in the kitchen, this was just some down home cooking. From the mashed potatoes to the homemade corn bread, Babe's Smokehouse should not be missed if you're in the Savannah area.

Made the drive from Guyton while visiting for spring break at 3:30pm only to arrive to a desolate parking lot and closed sign. They need to update their hours. Found out their hours are not 11am-7pm as posted, but actually 11am-1:30pm. Not sure how anyone would know this or expect such short hours of operation. Not only did I waste my time visiting your location, but also didn't get to enjoy any great southern BBQ I'd heard about.

Don't be fooled by the location of Babe's Smokehouse. The service was excellent and the food was to die for. Prices are super reasonable! The portions are generous and you will not leave hungry. Their barbecue sauce is very tasty and I will definitely return when in Savannah, GA.

But and lunch special country fried chicken Mac n cheese green beans.

Great atmosphere. Super good price. But great take on the blt. Has thick cuts of bologna lettuce tomato and bacon with slice of Swiss and American. The country fried chicken was super good and juicy as well as the sides Mac n cheese and green beans with corn bread. Can't be the price 25 bucks with drinks and tax. Defently will go again.

Located in a truck stop in the outskirts of Savanna there is a bbq joint doing things right. Making a unique sauce and smoking everything in pecan-wood for the right amount of time. It's nothing fancy but is everything it needs to be. I got the pork ribs, half chicken & pulled pork. All were fantastic including the sides 10/10. I particularly loved the spicy bbq sauce with its tanginess. I recommend you go here if you love meat and are in the area. Cheers!

    Fantastic local BBQ.

You might be tempted to keep on driving by this place if you even manage to notice it from the road. It is indeed shack-like. This is no hyperbole like some places in the city that use the word "shack" in their names to suggest an authenticity they don't deserve. It is on these unexpected road sides where the "real McCoy" local food can be often be found and in this case, that's the absolute truth. Just don't be expecting anything remotely "fancy-pants". During our southern barbecue binge, we literally stumbled upon this place while looking for yet another hole-in-the-wall barbecue shack that we'd heard about. That other place unfortunately was not to be found; it must have closed, but just as we were despairing over this, we saw a sign for Babe's. It was meant to be; the BBQ angels were looking out for us. We pulled in and asked a gentleman who had just exited the doors and was heading to his car what he thought. He waxed poetic about how good the food was here and told us we'd be crazy not to try it. He said he was originally from Texas and "knew good BBQ" and that he'd traveled all over the south eating BBQ over the years and that Babe's was one of the best. We quickly parked our car. We're so glad we took his advice. This place is beyond unpretentious but with delicious country-style food. It is the antithesis of "fine dining" and that was fine by us. It's the typical southern BBQ set-up of a meat plus two sides. There is no alcohol license so tea, water or soft drinks is what you can get. I got the pork ribs here and my husband got the brisket. Both were absolutely delicous, mouthwateringly savory and tender, expertly smoked and barbecued. We were in southern barbecue heaven. Although I can't imagine someone who is not a meat eater wanting to come here but if you were such a person and found yourself dragged here by BBQ fiends, there are plenty of delicious sides like the mac and cheese that could easily make you swoon. The desserts, which were an assortment of southern style cakes looked quite tempting, but we both were too full to do more than gaze lovingly at the display. There was a beautiful Red Velvet cake for one. I used the rest room here and I am happy to report that it was clean and not scary. On the way out we talked to one of the cooks who was outside at that smoker shack. He was generous with his cooking and meat smoking tips but something tells me, that even with our own smoker set-up at home it may be hard to reach the culinary heights of this humble place. .

I rolled down the windows because I could tell somebody was making BBQ, and the smell made us both perk up. We drove by and said to one another that we should try that sometime, because it smelled amazing, then we made it one street down and both agreed we needed to turn around and try it today. There was free parking at the church across the street, and the second we parked and crossed Waters to check the place out, we were greeted by clouds of decadent-smelling smoke billowing out from the screened porch attached to the building. I told my wife that I hoped we would smell like that smoke all day. The place was packed when we walked in, but it turned out everybody had ordered and was just waiting for their food to come out, so another customer told us to wait by the register, and about 15 minutes later we ordered a large combo plate and were given a ticket with a number to be called out when our food was ready. 10-15 minutes after we ordered, our number was called, and we took our bag (which felt like it weighed 5 lbs) and walked it back to our car across the street. We opened up the container just to get a sample before heading home, and ended up eating nearly the entire meal in the car, trying our best not to spill sauce everywhere but really not caring either way. The combo plate came with two chicken legs, about 3/4 of a rack of pork ribs, a side of baked beans, and two slices of classic white bread. It usually comes with potato salad, too, but neither of us are huge potato salad fans. However, we will try it next time, because I imagine they could put a shoe in a container and it would taste amazing given their cooking skills. The pork ribs were the most tender ribs I've ever had in my life. I've always said that it doesn't matter how easily the meat falls off the bone, but rather how easily it melts in your mouth when you've taken a bite. These ribs melted in your mouth. The chicken was equally delicious. The meat was tender and juicy, and--somehow--there was actually crispy skin on part of it, which had audible crunch when bitten into. The sauce was incredible. You can ask for it to be put on your ribs and chicken, or--like we plan to next time--buy a bottle to go. It's a mix of mustard and vinegar based, which is hands down my favorite. I grew up in upstate SC where you can find both options, but having them all in one was a dream come true. The baked beans were a great, sweet break from the chicken and ribs, and a slice of classic white bread is always great for soaking up extra sauce. I can't recommend this spot enough. Oh, and local, family-owned! We will 1000% be back.

Service, though busy, was very attentive. Just a quick wave of the hand and they were in motion. Very professional and represented their establishment well. The in table grill was not the best I've seen, I prefer a mesh grate that allows more of the flame to directly touch the meat, but it worked well enough once we cranked up the heat to get some caramelization. My coworker had never had KB so we went simple with the Bulgagi beef and pork. The beef was very good, but the pork was outstanding. Both were expertly prepped in paper thin, small slices just big enough to make them easy to cook but not so big you spent a lot of time with the scissors. Wonderfully seasoned, these two items alone would make a destination menu. Broth cabbage and cucumber kimchi were on point, well spiced and the perfect textures. Daikon radish was very good as well, crisp and the perfect balance between sweet and sour. Well worth the price, excellent quality and flavors, very good service....you won't be sorry you chose Bewon.

We ordered off the menu rather than the buffet -- though both were available and the buffet looked well-stocked and genuinely tempting. My husband had the Shrimp & Grits: Georgia shrimp over stone-ground grits with andouille sausage, peppers, onions, bacon, and a sherry cream sauce. Rumor had it that was the move, and the rumor was right. The grits alone were the kind you don't stop talking about -- velvety, deeply seasoned, the kind of base that makes everything sitting on top of it taste better than it already is. I went with the fried catfish, a side of mac and cheese, and a bowl of gumbo. Honest take: the catfish itself was good -- the fish was fresh and well-flavored -- but the batter had gone a little soggy, which kept it from landing where it could have. That's the kind of thing that varies by timing, not kitchen quality. The mac and cheese, though, was exactly what you want: cheesy without being gluey, hot all the way through, properly indulgent. And the gumbo -- chicken and sausage, rich and built with patience -- was the best thing on my side of the table. On a rainy afternoon in coastal Georgia, it was exactly right. Then there was the cornbread, served with peach cobbler butter. That detail alone tells you something about how this kitchen thinks. It's not an afterthought. It completed everything around it. I'm not from the South, and I won't pretend to have a lifetime of comparison points. But there's a kind of food that makes you feel like you were born into it anyway -- like your body already knew what it was tasting. That's what happened here. Good for road trippers, families, rainy days, and anyone who needs a real meal after a long stretch of highway. Four stars, with the grits alone pulling hard toward four and a half.

We were looking for something…read morecasual but filling for dinner and because we had not tried out this place yet but had driven by several times, we decided to check it out. Definitely a great decision on a hunch. This is an all you can eat hot pot concept and frankly my first time attending this version. While I have visited hibachi restaurants in the past, this is not that. Basically this is a dual table side prep concept where you can either make your own custom soups and broths, and hot pot seafood or you can select the grill and grill of a variety of fresh meats and fish and vegetables, or you can get both. Both come with a small dessert bar and seem to be accompanied with the additional Fresh salad and sauce bar, although I'm not quite sure if one of those may have been restricted if you did the grill only or the hot pot only. Pricing is pretty fair at about $30 a person which rises to mid 30s if you decide to get both options. We went with the combo because we had never tried this concept before, but in the future, I may lean more towards the grill option only. Especially if I'm not in the mood for hot pot or soup. But I definitely enjoyed the combination choice for our first visit. The meat and vegetable selections at this restaurant are pretty vast and this is after the server first sets you up and allows you to pick from several different types of broth for your hot pot. In addition, they have a sauce bar that must've had 20+ sauces available to choose from. I think one of the most overwhelming aspects of this concept is lack of familiarity with the right combinations of hot pot and grilled options. For this we leaned heavily on our server and she did a great job of guiding us through a couple of her favorite combinations, as well as some of the favorite combinations of other patrons. This was really helpful because there isn't a menu or chart to help you unlock all of the really cool combinations that you can put together including Ramen udon and Thai soup varieties. All of the ingredients you need to make any of those dishes, but in your own customize version, are here to your heart's desire. Service is really good as they do switch out the grills rather rapidly as they will get charred and start to burn and smoke after three or four rounds of fresh meats and veggies slapped on them. However, they do not switch out your broth choice so once you make your choice, that's what you're rolling with for the rest of the dinner. All in all we were really satisfied with the freshness and the preparation of most of the ingredients and sauces. I did think the dessert bar was a little weak given the multitude of options elsewhere, but I also understand that this is consistent with the cultural preferences, which don't skew as heavy on traditional sweets, like American taste do. All in all this is definitely a treat for those looking for a great date night or just looking to take the family out for a really engaging and tasty cook at your table experience - all you can eat style!
