Came to East Ocean in Alameda for lunch and had a bit of a mixed experience. On the plus side, there's plenty of parking and a lot of seating, which makes it easy for larger groups. The food also came out quickly and was hot, and overall everything we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately, the service really missed the mark. There seemed to be a lot of staff, but it was hard to get what we needed--we had to ask multiple times (and sometimes ask different servers) just to receive basic things. Great food, but the service left a bad taste in my mouth.

Always excellent :-) Food fresh and delicious. I like that we can order what we want and have it delivered all at once.

Have been here for lunch and for dim sum. It's a great space to go for a nicer family gathering as they it's a little more upper scale compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area -especially since they remodeled. We came for an early CNY lunch and decided to do ala carte versus a preset menu. The lobster yee mein, duck, and ginger scallion beef were my favorites. Small parking lot, otherwise there is ample street parking. The restaurant can easily fill up-especially on a weekend. We came for lunch on a Saturday at 11, and by 1130 the whole restaurant was packed-so plan accordingly!

We had a lunch event for sixty people on a busy Saturday in December. David the manager assigned us the large side room that can fit up to 100+ diners. So happy to have the private side room. Our event went from 11:30-2:30 with lunch starting at noon. Angela was our primary host / server and coordinated the start, timing of dishes, change out of plates, etc.. she was highly professional! We had main dishes of: Peking Duck in which the duck skins and buns came out preassembled along with a second plate containing the remainder of the carved-up duck, Walnut Prawns were my MIL's favorite, and Double Lobster Noodles which was a hit for all of the seafood lovers. For Dim Sum, we had: Beef Cheong Fun, Sui Mai, Chicken Feet, and Chicken Sticky Rice,. We wrapped up with Dessert of: Pineapple Custard Bun, Matcha Lava Bun (nice and runny), and Black Sesame Roll. All of the food was excellent and our party had a great, non-rushed event. Kudos to David Chan and Angela for carrying out a smooth and well run party. Thank you.

Another great meal, tried black pepper chow mein and beef was juicy and flavorful. Starchy noodles and smooth beef ball. Fast service and clean space. Always glad to come back!

Always great to come back here for comfort food. We had hot bowls of West Lake Beef soup on this cold winter night, beef Chow fun dry Hong Kong style with great flavor ( wok hey). Service excellent, they make sure your teapot is filled. They served peanuts, fried shrimp chips and pickled cucumber as appetizer to everyone.

Monday Labor Day morning and we were trying to figure out what to get for brunch after a day and night of partying. Looked on Yelp and dim sum looked appetizing! It was a very busy lunch time in Alameda and parking was a bit difficult because it was so busy so we had to circle around for a while. We had a party of 5 and the wait was about 20 minutes but they had a bar! So we went in and got a round of drinks, tequila sodas, lychee martinis, and mimosas on the house for the ladies. We even ran into a local Bay Area rapper Plo who was also waiting for a table. Going to the bar made it fast and it was a busy morning there. Lots of workers with their dim sum carts so we got what was being passed around. We got pork siu mai, shrimp hargow, xlb (we're not soupy), shrimp and beef rice rolls, chicken feet, honey walnut shrimp, guylan, seaweed salad, pork belly, duck, we ordered stuffed eggplant from the kitchen. For dessert we got some egg tarts and sesame buns. We also got an order of hot jasmine tea. We ordered more than enough and had some leftovers for lunch the next day. Service was quick, very family oriented but they didn't give us a menu so we went with what we knew and what they came by with. A perfect place for all party sizes, big and small and quick service. You can enter either through the back or front. The workers were very friendly and hard working!

I would rate this place 4.5 out of 5 but rounding up to five. We stopped by this Chinese restaurant while visiting Oakland with family after it was recommended by a family friend who lives in the area. We had a group of nine adults and ordered a lot of food, and everything was excellent. The portions were very generous, and the flavors were delicious across the board. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very kind. We arrived about fifty minutes before the end of their lunch hours and ended up being the last table still eating while they were closing up and getting ready for dinner. Even so, they let us stay and were attentive the whole time, which we really appreciated. The crispy noodles were a favorite, and all of the salt and pepper seafood dishes we ordered were outstanding. Overall, the food was delicious, the service was warm, and the experience left a great impression. Definitely a spot worth visiting when in the area.

Fast and filling service. Weekend service is busy so be ready to eat and eat well. Would highly recommend the bbq pork. Will absolutely be coming back soon!

Just wanted a simple Chinese comfort food dinner after a long day. Usually go to East Ocean for dim sum or for a family event. Stopped by and it was bustling with all size groups. We were seated right away and just craving simple comfort food and they did not disappoint. Dry fried beef chow fun, salted fish and chicken fried rice, and pea sprouts with garlic. Yummmy and HUGE portions (there were only two of us). Each were so flavorful and hit the spot. And enough leftover for dinner for at least two more meals.

Outrageous prices for subpar food, Mongolian chicken not quality chicken, flimsy and cheap, rice is not good, I was so hungry that I went back which I shouldn't have! . Sent the food back and left. BBQ pork fried rice yellow and gross, mushy overcooked. I LOVE Chinese food but here is not the place for it, maybe dimsum here is ok but not what I wanted. If you like Chinese food go elsewhere.

I was dining alone and ordered only shrimp dumplings and a glass of Chardonnay, yet the wait was excessive. The wine arrived in what looked like a tasting-sized pour, and at $16 a glass, it felt particularly disappointing--especially since it was the only white wine option available. The restaurant itself felt neglected. The tables were wobbly, the décor was dated, there was a noticeable cigarette smell, and I even had to replace my own chopsticks after noticing lipstick on the pair initially provided. After waiting so long for my food, I stood up to ask for my check and cancel the order. At that point, the dumplings suddenly appeared, along with an offer of a fried bun as compensation. I declined and suggested they at least comp the wine given the experience, but they did not. The final bill was nearly $30 for a mediocre glass of wine and shrimp dumplings that were undercooked and unappetizing enough that I threw them away after a few bites. If you're looking for a quick meal before a movie, I'd strongly recommend going elsewhere. This was a disappointing waste of both time and money.
