The restaurant was very spacious and well decorated. It was very empty which I don't mind. Saw glowing reviews online and had to come try. Apparently the restaurant was newly renovated and/or under new ownership so their menu has changed. Refer to their online menu for updated menu. We ordered their carbonara from the menu and truffle pasta from their old menu which they said they could create using their truffle cream. The appetizer bread was meh but complimented well with the cheese and meat. The carbonara wasnt well flavored and the bacon was overly oily fatty and crunchy not really worth $28 as it didn't taste authentic or delicious especially considering how their prices are more expensive than other well known competitors next door. The truffle pasta they charged as "custom" $32 but came out looking so strange in a color I've never seen before and was the strangest off truffle smell ever. The taste did not help it any better, had to throw it away. It was by far the most expensive "truffle" dish I've ordered that was by far the worst. Overall not sure what to make of this incredibly pricey meal that was one of the worst meals we've had, and it was agreed upon by me and my guest and we've never both agreed a meal was this bad before. I came here for a private event and they served a variety of food and beverages. A few of us attending were vegan and they made us separate plates of what they were already serving. This pesto pasta was delicious - I believe it was cashew- or pistachio-based and it was so fresh, creamy, and flavorful. They also had a delicious broccoli topped with chili and breadcrumbs. The staff serving everything were so nice and accommodating. They have a few outdoor tables but it's mostly indoors. The interior is bright, comfortable, and inviting. read more

We went in on a Sunday night without a reservation and were able to get a table for 2 immediately. The cocktails that I tried were all delicious and we just split a Caesar salad with added anchovies. I cannot comment on the pasta and I know this area of Williamsburg is loaded with Italian restaurants so there is a lot of competition but I can't wait to come back for a full meal sometime. Came to Bacàn after finding out that the wait for Aurora across the street was an hour long. I was hesitant of Bacàn at first because of some of the Yelp reviews, but honestly, I'm surprised this place has a 3-star rating. Overall, the food was good! I got the pappardelle bolognese and I liked that the dish wasn't too heavy like it can sometimes be. That said, my main grievance about this meal was the portion size I received. It really was not a lot of food for a pasta dish and honestly wasn't super filling. I know they're going for a tapas-style experience, but since this pasta was listed under the mains section of the menu, I didn't expect to receive a tapas-sized portion. I got the Paper Plan to drink -- not sure if bourbon and aperol is a common combination, but I thought the drink was unique and tasty (if you like bourbon, that is). The food here is amazing - a little over priced but really delicious. The service however is terrible, unfortunately. Even with open spots they sat us at a table outside that was super wobbly and would tip over if we started eating. We eventually asked them to move us, which they did. Apps came out relatively normal, but the entrees took like 40 mins and we only ended up having one round of drinks because the waiter never came back to check if we wanted anything. We got the octopus, steak, and the pesto all of which were delicious. If you just go there for the food and do not have expectations of service, you will be fine. read more

You need to run, not walk to Bacàn! First of all, they seat you in the most comfortable chairs. I've never been so comfortable at dinner. Then, they served me, quite possibly, one of the absolute best meals I've ever had. The Rigatoni Amatriciana is an absolute gem of a dish and is not to be overlooked. The depth of flavor blew my mind and tastebuds. A perfect amount of spice and such a well cooked amount of guanciale. This will, no doubt, be my new comfort food. I must say the drinks here are a bit different so do not expected your regular run of the mill. Paradiso Spritz is super refreshing and perfect for a warm toasty afternoon. My friend ordered Negroni, it was a bit different than what you would expect. We also ordered a caprese pizza just to fill ourselves with some carbs and that one small dish could totally explain what this place is all about. My one complaint was the table next to us was a group of 5 and they were taking photos of each other all night with the flash on and were SO loud but that is certainly not the fault of the restaurant - did make me think it could be a good group dinner spot as well. We had the charcuterie board but with no meat, I imagine the meat would have been nice but friend was a vegetarian. Bacan is my favorite Italian spot in Williamsburg. It's such a cozy vibe and the food is authentic Venetian inspired modern tapas and pastas. You can tell they only use quality and fresh ingredients and change the menu up a little bit each time so there's always new things to try. Ordered SUPPLÌ AL TELEFONO - While the outside was hot and crispy, the inside had shredded mozzarella that was still cold and shreddy - not melty at all. It should not have taken 20 minutes to put our orders in. There was a LONG PIECE OF HAIR in the carbonara, not just sitting on top but threaded through the dish. I immediately asked for it to be replaced, and our server did, but with zero reaction (no apology, NOTHING). Once we were given the new dish again, nothing (not even an "enjoy!"). While I didn't expect the dish to be comped, I did hope for an apology at a minimum.
