Burger was basically inedible. Service ok. Overpriced and disappointing a decent burger should not be difficult to produce in NYC

The pictures on yelp from business owner are a little deceiving. First off this is a massive place. They have an upstairs dining area and a bar area with high top seating when you walk in. The vibe is chill and they gave trivial pursuit on the table for your enjoyment. I wouldn't say it is as fancy as the pictures show. It is still a nice place. They have high top seating for big groups and thats where we sat with 10 people. It wasn't crammed it was spacious and the service was good. The drinks are pretty standard. For being so close to time square it is a cool spot. Didn't think I would find a place like this in this area. The food was pretty standard bar food. We had the buffalo cauliflower and the flat bread. Both were solid happy hour food. My friend got the burger and liked it as well. I think its perfect for a group happy hour. It won't knock your socks off but it does the job. The dining upstairs could be a good option if you want a sit down dinner. 3.5 stars all the way but cant give half so bumping it to 4. read more

This place definitely lived up to my expectations. From the moment I walked in I was impressed. The space is very grand! Great vibes! Very romantic, and perfect for a date night. Honestly the pictures don't do it justice just go see for yourself! We ordered several items off the menu and everything tasted delicious. My taste-buds couldn't have been happier. I'm a sucker for buffalo cauliflower and theirs was perfect! It had the perfect balance of crunch and spiciness. My mouth is watering now just thinking about it!! The food is good but I heard how the manager I think called Joe yells at his employees I would like more if the atmosphere was better!

Decided to dine at the Ribbon before seeing Hades Town at the William Kerr Theater. Very good choice. Server was friendly knowledgeable and a bit funny. Asked him about the mixed rotisserie meat salad with blue cheese and he looks at me dead pan and says it's a meat lover meal. He obviously didn't care for meat. I laughed and ordered it anyway. It was fantastic. My guest ordered a nice Scotch and the server brought it over and poured it with a slight splash that spilled on the table. A mistake. Without saying a word he returned shortly with an extra pour. Nice recovery. Loved the ambience. Hustle. Bustle. read more

Came during Christmas time for the Frosty Christmas Bar and we had Terrible service. Waited over 30minutes to be seated with a reservation. Food was basically cafeteria food. The Rigatoni was dry and had the most awful flavor, mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box and the braised beef was flavorless. Two people at our table ordered burgers and had to eat them DRY because no one came to offer condiments ( ketchup, mayo, or refill our freaking water!) Decor was beautiful but don't come here looking for fine cuisine because you won't find it. Also took 20 minutes for a waiter to acknowledge us (after we finally got up and asked someone) then he took our order and never came back. 0/10 do not recommend. read more

We stumbled upon The Ribbon after a long day of shopping and boy we were thrilled! Everything from a friendly greeting from the hostess, to a "yes, of course" waitresses, and delicious food! We did the PreFixe Menu with butternut squash soup, hanger steak & monkey bread dessert. Food was perfect & timed well. We weren't rushed but also didn't wait for an eternity between courses. The decor for the holidays is gorgeous. Definitely worth coming here for drinks, as those were great too. However, the food and service were not worth the money. Our arancini came partially still frozen and the pasta was not great. I would assume Frosty's nightclub is better than the restaurant portion. read more

Visiting Bacall's was one of the best parts of my NYC trip. My friend and I stopped in to have a nice dinner on our last evening in the city and we were SO happy with everything. She enjoyed a NY strip while I chose the Prime Rib and we were both very impressed. The only thing that topped the food was the service! Our server Dale made us feel right at home and we had wonderful conversations. The manager, Akeem was so hospitable and made the experience even more memorable. The restaurant was absolutely beautiful and a perfect way to end our vacation. Thank you!! read more

We felt like this place was an overpriced tourist trap, and the only highlight was the majority of the staff were professional. Our original waiter seemed to really hate his job though. I ordered the blue dream cocktail and it was extremely sour, not even a hint of sweetness and I couldn't even drink it. We tried to be nice about it, but our original waiter just argued that it's "supposed to be sour" and didn't offer any remedy. He was also extremely judgmental about how my friend wanted his steak cooked because my friend wanted his steak well-done, so the waiter told my friend he must like his meat "dry and tough". The irony is that he served my husband's steak bright red rare with a sight sear on the outside (when he ordered it medium rare). At some point, our original waiter was replaced and his replacement was so much nicer (hence 2 stars instead of 1). The cocktail was taken off our bill. Overall, the food was mediocre at best and the cherry on top was probably the weirdly sweet peppercorn sauce that was served with the steak. There is nothing I would recommend here and will never return. read more

I'm so happy to have discovered this awesome restaurant in Times Square! Not only was the Old Hollywood vibe of Bacall's unique, but so was their menu. Being a steakhouse, there was obviously an emphasis on meat, but they still had a nice variety and some things I don't often see on menus, like sweet and sour wagyu meatballs. We ordered these for an appetizer and enjoyed them, though I do think they might have been a tad over cooked. Our prime rib and surf and turf were excellent, with the meat perfectly cooked on these, and I especially loved the horseradish sauce that came with my prime rib. Their cocktail selection was great, and it was tough to choose a dessert because they all sounded so good! We ended up choosing the 16 layer cream cake which was fantastic, and I don't even know how we had the room to finish it. I was glad that we made our reservation a bit earlier for 5pm - once it started getting busy around 6pm, the service definitely started to drop off a bit, but we were pretty much wrapped up anyway. I look forward to visiting again on future NYC trips and trying more of their menu! read more

Forgettable! Slow service! Adequate food. We stopped in here for a late dinner after a Broadway show and were underwhelmed. Apparently this is a restaurant with a club downstairs. So there are bouncers and ropes at the front door. We waited for about ten minutes for someone to take our order. Definitely a 0/10. Upon arrival, we were seated almost immediately. The empty restaurant should have been a big clue about the experience. We ordered from the Prix Fixe menu. The first course was ok. 40 minutes later, our main course arrived. The fried chicken was extremely dry and the swordfish was overcooked. Our waiter was nowhere to be found so we couldn't address issues until it was too late. We finally tracked him down for our check (he was having to talk to every other customer about issues with their food) which he brought without any mention of the dessert/third course which we never got. This is a real gem in the heart of midtown. The resident performer is a character--he had everyone up and dancing and laughing. People were literally dancing the horah through the restaurant So fun. The food was fantastic. The fried kreplach is a must have. I brought home the pistachio dip for the next day and ended up having it as a midnight snack. Also the chiftele was so good. The best part of our meal was the beautiful charcuterie board ($84) - delish pate 3 ways. The lamb chops were tasty enough, but not super tender. My husband and I went here for a birthday dinner for our daughter and while we were there it was Frosty's. The experience was gorgeous, every inch is covered in beautiful decor. There were elfs and the grinch which we had a lot of fun taking photos with. The food was delicious, we had a few appetizers and 2 entrees. The French onion soup was one of the best I've had. The meatballs were amazing, so tender and flavorful. The buratta was incredible! I'm still thinking about it. For Entrees we split the Theater Steak and then the Rigatoni all Vodka. Very generous portions and the steak was fork tender. Other things to note was the excellent service despite how packed the place was. Really recommend this place for a bite before a show or a bite before going down to their nightclub downstairs, Blue. We will return! read more

The location first off is very close to the chaos of 42nd street so try to leave ahead of time to get to this location. The decor was absolutely beautiful. The service was decent we got seated right at the entrance and the waiter was ok, we ordered fries and it seemed he forgot about them during our whole meal - I know it's busy season so can't really blame him. The problem was we ordered the steak and it looked burned on the outside and bright pink on the inside - definitely not a medium well steak - I had to switch with my fiancé and I ended up eating the burger instead. The burger was juicy lots of onions but I was able to eat it. I love the environment lots of places to take pictures but definitely would skip eating here, I've had better elsewhere. read more

Stopped for dinner around 7:15 pm and the place was almost empty. Normally this would be a bad thing but we guessed their clientele had already left to go to the plays across the street. We ordered the calamari for start and it was great. I had the short ribs goulash from the Octoberfest menu and it was fantastic. Great place to have dinner when seeing a show. Close to all the theaters. Super close to Shubert. We shared the braised short ribs and they are really delicious. First experience in NYC and waitress was VERY ROOD SONIA H. to be exact!!! We sat for over 40 minutes waiting for someone to take our order and when she did come, she asked if we were going to order food or was just sitting. After her attitude we told her we would just get a drink. she came back with the drinks and asked if we wanted anything else but was walking off while asking, which left no room to order. then another bar tender came to the table and asked if we needed anything and we told him just the ticket and the experience was horrible. he apologized and brought the ticket. Came here on a Friday night without a reservation. Didn't have to wait, but I remember this suuuuper extraaaa staff member seated us and tried so hard to be funny about us not having a reservation, and then proceeded to go on and on about this restaurant being a Harry Potter scene... Anyways, the deviled eggs were incredible. I don't have them often... maybe twice, ever. The smoked salmon and jalapeno ones were amazing. I'd definitely get these again. We ordered a drink that did NOT taste good at all. Was so overpriced and gross! It tasted like someone mixed it improperly. Flavors all out of balance. My lobster & shrimp curry was delicious. I loved the taste, but there was so little with the dinner combo. They could have put more rice in it but it had maybe just a few spoonfuls of it in there. We also ordered this sandwich with fries. The sandwich was amazing. Has the perfect balance of taste and flavors all over my mouth. The fries were skinny and fresh. My favorite! Lastly, we had cookies and cream for dessert. The cookie was hard and broke easily, and not in the good way. It shattered into tiny crumbles. And the pudding topped with whipped cream was just that... Walmart chocolate pudding topped with whipped cream. Nothing special. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. It was dimmed with a candle on the table. Our candle was not lit until half way through our course. Our server was not good. We asked to split the check and she said "oh you should've told me that at the beginning before you ordered. We don't split checks. I'll talk to my manager." She came back with two checks, but what she said and how she said it was just uncalled for. Overall I'd give this place 3/5 stars. 1 for the ambiance, 1 for the food, and 1 for the guy who tried so hard to be amusing when he sat us at our table. read more

We had 8pm tickets to see A Beautiful Noise in NYC . Bacall's was literally across the street from the theater. Seated promptly at 5:30. Received free Prosecco for Yelp checkin. Ordered $45 3 course prix fixe. Chose caesar salad which had tasty dressing. Half chicken fried chicken entree was crisp and moist, though slightly salty. Side of good thin fries. Dessert was crisp, hot churros. My wife had bean burger that she enjoyed. Service was excellent! Abi and his couldn't have been better. Easily recommend, especially pre Broadway show read more

If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would do so. It started out really nicely, the restaurant is beautiful and spacious and it was a great pre-Broadway show reservation... Or so we thought. The restaurant was about a 10 minute walk from our theater so we thought we had plenty of time, and they claim to serve the Broadway theater crowd. Our appetizers were great and the server seemed friendly... But that's when things took a turn. We waited for another 30 minutes for our dinners, then we were told that the kitchen was running slow (despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't even half full) and our food would be out in another 5 to 7 minutes, even though we did not have time to wait for that and then take the time to eat. Another 10 mins went by while we tried for an opportunity to speak to the manager to get a little info or urgency on the situation, but when we finally got a hold of her she did not seem to be bothered by our predicament. We saw food being delivered to several tables around us that had sat down far after we had. I am quite certain that the server did not put our order in and was trying to cover up, but instead we ended up standing up and leaving without eating dinner before a 3 hour show. The biggest slight was that we were not comped anything at all - we still paid for our drinks and appetizers, despite the fact that we didn't actually get to eat our dinner - the manager was not interested in customer service AT ALL and did not apologize in any way. I will never go back and I will warn everyone I know not to go there when in the city. We managed to slide into our seats about 2 minutes before the show started. Seriously, do not go here if you want SERVICE. The food we tried was good, but not worth the experience we had. read more

I went to the Yelp elite event and it was a great experience. I'm so incredibly impressed with how gracious the staff was during a very hectic set up. Additionally, the restaurant was exceptionally generous with both the variety and availability of food. They had several drink options to choose from. The servers, hosts, and restaurant managers were friendly and inviting. They knew how to keep things moving, remain professional under pressure, and stay positive and engaged with a very large Yelp event PLUS a full restaurant on two levels. Most importantly, the food was delicious and the custom cocktail was a perfect floral sweet summertime treat. The snacks we tasted tonight were: mini avocado toast, fried cheesy crispy mushroom risotto balls, spicy buffalo cauliflower bites, burger sliders, exceptionally fresh and juicy shrimp cocktail, fancy cheese bacon sautéed greens flat bread, and baby banana bread with a dollop of fresh cream! Boy oh boy, this was such a feast! I left feeling incredibly full & happy in many ways. It's a loud space and is not for the faint of heart. If you come, be ready to talk loudly and get into a high energy mode. This place is spacious and great for an upbeat happy hour or a lively party/event. It's bustling and well situated in Times Square. Monday night here felt like a busy Thursday night at a bar in lower Manhattan! I'd like to come back for a meal but I'm curious if it slows down.
