Bacan has quickly become our go-to special occasion restaurant in the Central Florida area. The Wave hotel is stunning, and Bacan is very worthy of it's Michelin nod. It is somehow always easy to get a reservation, the food is exceptional, and the service excellent. We have celebrated a birthday here and an engagement, and they always do something special to acknowledge the celebration which is much appreciated. The cocktails are great, however pro-tip - they don't advertise it, but you can also order drinks from the lobby bar which has an entirely different selection. In terms of appetizers I highly recommend the Parker rolls: the house made butter is fantastic. Also the lobster tostada. For entree, the truffle chicken two ways is easily the best item - I would have never thought a chicken dish would be a go to, but TRUST ME. It takes a little longer but is worth the wait. Seriously, I dream about this chicken. It's pricey (around $75), but it serves 2 people and comes with potatoes. However, a close second is the Bacan burger with the foie gras added on top. I think the only downside is the menu here does not change super frequently; so in the 3 times we have gone back over the span of a year or so there have not been a lot of differing options. However, they do have some new selections for Magical Dining Month (great deal), so I look forward to trying those out soon! read more

This beautiful restaurant is located in the Lake Nona Wave Hotel on the 1st floor. Once you walk through the main hotel door, you go straight toward the back, pass the bar, and the restaurant is on the right side (across from the giant stairs). Food: They served amazing food with bold flavors! I honestly haven't been surprised by so many flavors in a while. The octopus was very tender and flavorful. Truffle potatoes were to die for! Everything else we had was also very good. Drinks: The drinks were also amazing. Parcha sour was nice and fruity. It's a nice place to come for a date since the vibe is very vibrant yet not hectic. Service: The server was very friendly and attentive. He gave good recommendations on the dishes and drinks and made sure we have everything we need and water always filled. Great service! Value: I think for the quality of the food & drinks you get it's definitely worth the price. I'll say it's not super affordable but you don't come here for that. It's a nice date night kind of place. Ambience: The restaurant is stunning. High ceiling with beautiful light fixtures covering the whole space. The main attraction is the massive mural. The whole place is very vibrant and classy. After dinner you can explore Lake Nona hotel which is one of the more stunning hotels in Orlando. Crowd: We went there Saturday night with a reservation for 6pm and it wasn't too busy. The food was good but nothing crazy. Within the same location you can go to Nami and get much better food and better service. We waited long between meals to be asked if we needed anything. So when we ordered the dessert we asked for the check with it and even then had to wait quite some time after we were done. Not sure if it's because we sat outside or they were short staffed. Came by for dinner with friends. This place is def on the other side of town for us but it comes highly recommended by others. We were early so we stopped by the Living Room Bar just next door and took our cocktails outside for a walk in their sculpture garden. When our friends arrived, we were seated promptly. We had a nice table by the window. Our server was quick to say hello and was very patient with us. With all of our mingling, we were slow to look at the menu. We had a round of drinks and appetizers. The scallops - and I'm not a scallop person- were delicious! I liked the Asian style of it with the salmon roe. Yum! For dinner I had to moqueca. I was thrilled it was with grouper. They said 6oz and I believe it was. So good. My date ordered the pork chop- which I would not recommend. I'm not huge on chipotle pepper or mole etc so I didn't like the seasoning. But if you like that kind of flavor- go for it. It was a hearty dish. Also- we ordered it medium and it came out medium well. Might as well not ask us how we want it! We skipped dessert but continued to chat. Would have been nice if our waters were refilled. I would recommend this place. Food is great. Lots of other delicious menu options. Our server recommended everything on the menu, the short ribs, the pork chop, the chicken, the fish, the pork belly, etc; which I found annoying. I'm sorry but you can't say every single dish is a favorite. Just give us a couple faves and don't list the entire menu. Just sayin. Parking is free at the garage right out front. It's an easy walk. We came here for a fellow friends birthday and the hype is real. Upon arriving the lobby of the hotel is gorgeous with plenty of photo ops. There was even a talented violenist serenading the lobby/bar. The bar had a nice array of upscale drink options. They are pricey but it matches with the atmosphere and quality. This restaurant is breathtaking with superb design and decor. The art and ambience is perfect. Once seated our server was very friendly. She served our large group of 9 with ease. She was very well versed on the menu and good about checking on us. I took away one star because it did take a ungodly time to order and receive our food. We were there for close to 2 hours which is sorta uncanny. We all ordered cocktails and nothing stood out for me. We made a reservation for an anniversary and it fit the bill for a nice place to eat. They had some great cocktails, smoked and non-smoked and a menu with so many things to try. For appetizers, we had the lobster burrata tostadas which were nothing short of amazing. And pork belly? It's like bacon on steroids when done right and if anyone can do pork belly right, it's a place called Bacan. When we made the reservation, I didn't think for a minute we'd order a whole chicken! Welp, we did and it was a sous vide cooked chicken which they presented, before they went off and fried the dark meat and sliced the white meat and presented with all kinds of other delicious truffle flavored items. It's better than Jollibee! Would I return... hell yeah! I would've passed on coming had I known. Small plates are not shareable and over priced. The best items were the rice and oat bread. More complex dishes were underwhelming. I wouldn't return, just not worth it. Nice experience but nothing was mind blowing for $100/ person. Mediocre at best. Lastly, the citrus tres leches angered me. I gave in to the hype but in this case it was well worth it! Just an all around amazing night. I completely understand why the restaurant is a Michelin-recommended restaurant. The restaurant felt elegant, and luxurious with a touch of whimsy. I ordered the chef tasting menu that included 5 dishes. As well as added the premium wine tasting. The dishes were great when standing alone, but when paired with their recommended wines for each dish, I felt like Pixar's ratatouille, exploring and learning and just in awe of the symphony of flavor in my mouth. It was an expensive fare but a very memorable experience that I can't wait to do again and try more. If you consider going, ask for Sebastian to be your server. I'll cut to the chase, if you're on the fence, just go. Now that we have that covered, Bacán is an chíc, Latin inspired restaurant located in the Lake Nona Wave Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful so I expected nothing less of Bacán and it did not disappoint. Our waiter was excellent. He gave us an overview of the restaurant, the inspiration behind it, and a good variety of suggestions from the menu. We began with a couple cocktails, the Smoked Pork Belly Al Pastor and the Steak Tarte. The pork belly was melt in your mouth tender and paired with compressed pineapple to create the perfect sweet/savory combination. The steak tarte is tender, flavorful and served with the crispiest chicharrón which creates a harmonious balance in texture. My bf and I shared the Whole Truffle Chicken Two Ways for our entree. I want to preface by saying, I don't usually order chicken when I go out to eat, but this chicken, I would order every single time. Bacán creates an experience with this dish - they bring out the entire chicken (yes, it's cooked), then take it back to the kitchen, carve it, deep fry the dark meat and serve the white meat rotisserie style with a generous amount of truffle shavings, on top of a bed of crispy potatoes and the most delicious brava sauce. Great lobby and guitar music set the mood. Really really good service. We had to work early so no alcohol but the list was impressive and reasonable. The interior is very beautiful but a little dark so I would say this is an intimate place perfect for dates. From the time we sat down to the time we left, we received exceptional service. First time they substituted the truffles for truffle oil and the second time they omitted the truffles altogether. After pointing it out, they added the truffles. And my reservation I even put we were celebrating our marriage and they went as far as writing us a note that was waiting for us when we were seated at our table, which I thought was such a nice touch, this is one of those instances where you get what you pay for considering the place is very upscale and comes with a pretty hefty price tag. I would say the food was great, but I enjoyed our appetizers and dessert more than my main course but my husband loved his burger. The drinks weren't anything out of this world which I was expecting them to be considering they were pretty pricey. The service was truly exceptional and the decor and ambience is what you would expect for an upscale restaurant. We have been wanting to try Bacan for a while and finally made it out last weekend. I was blown away when we walked into the Wave Hotel and saw how beautiful and swanky it was. Every inch on the lobby and outdoor space was gorgeous. There is a nice little bar outside of the restaurant called the "Living Room". We'll definitely be stopping there before our next dinner. When our table was ready, we were escorted through the restaurant and seated at a table with a nice little "Happy Anniversary" card. Nice touch. The menu was really interesting and full of items I'd like to try. We went with the pork belly and lobster tostada to start. Our server, Kyle, was very knowledgeable and great with the recommendations. I started with a delicious mezcal drink that was a beautiful shade of purple. Joe got a smokey old fashioned. The pork belly was perfectly tender and charred. The tostadas were delicious too. For dinner we stepped out of our usual and went for the truffle chicken for two that was ultimately a VERY GOOD choice! It's a while chicken cooked sous vide in truffle butter, then prepared two ways. They bread and fry the legs then slice the breasts and serve it in a brava sauce with fingerling potatoes. It's always a good time at Bacan! My husband and I have been here several times and each time we aim to try something new - it never disappoints! Most recently, we went with a group of about 7 people total. We made a reservation on a Friday night (around 6:30PM) and had no issues at all. The restaurant does fill up quick, so I do recommend a reservation. They were doing live music in what they call the Living Room Bar, so that was a nice touch to have while enjoying some appetizers and drinks. Our servers were quick and attentive during our visit, which we appreciated very much. We weren't in a hurry so our table ordered several appetizers to share; Charred Octopus, Scallop A La Plancha, the Smoked Pork Belly, Lobster & Burrata Tostada, and my favorite (that is honestly so simple compared to all the others), the House Parker Rolls. Yep, I said it. They come with a chipotle-agave butter that is honestly dreamy. The Scallop A La Plancha was a close 2nd, if not tied for first. The team was also kind enough to bring over some sort of bread/biscuit that the team was "testing" for us to try. While the presentation was there, I do have to say the bread was a little dry - so I'm sure they'll work on that! As for the mains, I usually frequent any seafood option, while my husband gets anything meat related. This time, I opted to try the vegan option of Nikkei Soba Noodles served with Tofu. My husband, along with others, ordered the Birria Short Ribs. What I really enjoy about this place is that the servings are that, actual servings. Overall, everyone was very happy with their meals. It's nice to be able to try some appetizers, and eat your meal without feeling either too full, or like you need to cart around left overs when you may want to head to one of the other bars on property or in the area (which is what we did). We ordered to start the Burrata Lobster Tostada, not a part of Magical Dining but we had to try it! It was soo good! Very fresh tasting and the ingredients worked well together. We got the Tuna Crudo and Kale & Lime salad as appetizers. The Tuna Crudo was a very small portion but wow I think that was the best tuna I've ever had. So much flavor and the sauce it was in was perfect. The Kale & Lime Salad was good but just a salad. For our main entrees we got the Skirt Steak and the Branzino a la Plancha. The Skirt Steak was perfectly cooked and the hominy it was served with was okay not bad. The Branzino a la Plancha was the best fish I've ever had. It was cooked perfectly and was paired with a delicious mint pea sauce. The crispy kale on top was very delicious and added amazing texture to the dish. For dessert we both ordered the Frutos del Bosque. This is the fanciest dessert I've ever had. I loved the presentation and the different combinations of flavor. The chocolate with the fruitiness and slight chili went really well together. It was very delicious and decadent. We really enjoyed our time here at Bacan. TL;DR: A little pricey, but the food is superb. The atmosphere is elegant and intimate. The service is excellent. We generally don't revisit many places in the Orlando area because we generally prefer to try new places instead. However, we make an exception to this for Bacán. While it isn't super close to our house, the 4 times we've been here have all been excellent. I'll start with the ambiance. The lighting is soft, but not dark. The music is soft enough to carry on with conversation unimpeded. There is a vast mural on the far wall centered on a Luna Moth that's very well done. Large groupings of hexagonal chandeliers with Edison bulbs hang from and contrast well with the black high ceilings, giving the interior the feeling of being both open and intimate at the same time. The service has been excellent every time. When we've visited to celebrate something, they've always given us glasses of complimentary sparkling wine and congratulated us. The staff are always friendly, and the manager (at least I think they were the manager) always stop by at least once every visit to check on things and make sure our needs are being taken care of. As for the most important part of any review (for me anyways): the food. We've tried new dishes every time we've been here and we've never been disappointed. Between the two of us, we always try 2 new entrees and 2 new starters. The exception being for Magical Dining since the menu was obviously more limited. One thing I highly recommend getting here is always the House Parker Rolls. This fresh and fluffy bread roll is only $7 and it is probably the best bread I've had outside of some chef's tables experiences. Ever since we've discovered it, we always get it in addition to the 2 new entrees and starters. If you come here with someone else and you want to share something, the Whole Truffle Chicken Two Ways is incredible. The Grilled Short Ribs are extremely flavorful and tender beyond any need for a knife. The Skirt Steak is probably the thickest skirt steak I've ever eaten and is probably the only one I've had that you could actually cook to order. Even the Bacán Burger (with foie gras) is worth trying (though normally a burger isn't something I'd fry at a place like this). The cocktails are also very good, and have a wide selection in terms of flavor profiles. Many of these cocktails are also available in The Wave main lobby, but I believe that some are exclusive to Bacán. Also worth noting: there is complimentary self parking at the garage for The Wave hotel. We've been here 4 times so far and we will definitely return! By this point I think many of my friends are tired of me talking this place up, but it's so good that I can't help it! It's no wonder to me that this place received a Michelin Nod. Personally, I'd go so far as to say that Bacán is a better value than some of the Michelin Star restaurants I've tried. read more

What a beautiful hotel and restaurant! I took 2 stars off for a bunch or reasons, but the food really deserved 5 stars. We had an early reservation which was great, the restaurant was empty. We were seated and the gentleman cleaned off a high chair for our baby. The tables are very pretty but not conducive to crossing your legs. It gets uncomfortable because your feet cannot go under, they have to be at the side. I don't think that was thought through. Our waitress had no personality whatsoever and she didn't talk much. She did answer, when we asked her questions. Thank goodness lol. We were looking out for some bread but realize that it was on the menu for $7. It wasn't anything special either, just looked like a dinner roll. One of the assistants, Gabriella, I asked her for a one piece for my baby to keep her entertained and she was so sweet she brought it out. The food took forever, so the bread saved my baby to have something to eat. She was very helpful the whole entire time. When I needed hot water, she brought it out and when we needed anything and our waitress wasn't around, which was often, she was there. Thank you Gabriela. For appetizers, we ordered the lobster and burrata tacos, which was more of a tostada because the tortilla was crispy like a chip, the scallops and the corn ribs. All of them were extremely delicious. Unfortunately, the corn was cold when it came out I am sure it would have been better if it was warm. The scallops were amazing and so are the lobster tacos. They put a great amount of lobster on there and it is so fresh and delicious, I would go back just for those. For dinner we ordered the chicken and I read that they bring it out to show you before they cut it up but they didn't bring it out to show us. I saw them do it to another table, but they must've skipped us. Would've been cool to see what we were going to get. Nonetheless, the chicken was absolutely amazing! There was barely any truffle on it but they brought us out some truffle oil and some more of the sauce for the potatoes. The meal was amazing. Even my baby loved the chicken. I cannot believe the price point on it but soooo flavorful! The service was extremely slow for some reason, it seemed like it took forever to get food. They also should've done something special for Father's Day, a little chocolate truffle or something extra for the dads. I was thinking that a manager would come by and ask how our meal was, but I didn't even identify one. The waitress took forever with the check and we left as soon as she brought it back. Lots of kinks that I think need to be worked out. However, the service was disappointing for those price points. Service makes the whole experience for me, and they missed it last night. I've been wanting to try this restaurant for a while and finally got the chance. The wave hotel is a beautiful location and the restaurant inside is as well. I liked the layout and overall feeling of the place that was adult trendy but not overly stuffy. The service was exceptional. I was asked how everything was by numerous waiters and staff and always felt like I was being catered to. My wait staff was friendly and good at explaining the menu items and making suggestions. I had a gift card so I ordered a number of items including the charred pulpo, lobster tostada, and short ribs. It was all tasty but I don't know if it was worth the cost. Dinner for two ended up costing $250 with tip which is pretty steep. This will be somewhere I go for special occasions not for regular Friday night and definitely not somewhere I stop by with the kids. read more

We made it to Bacan just in time for the end of Magical Dining, and it was highly anticipated choice for us! Firstly, the Wave Hotel is gorgeous and full of eclectic details - it was nice to just grab a drink at the lobby bar before heading in to our reservation! Bacan has a classy, upscale, romantic feel, and the quality of the cuisine matches the ambiance! We started with their bread and butter with our drinks before starting the Magical Dining menu, and even the butter was fantastic! Definitely a worthwhile addition if you're a "start the meal with bread" person. We both started with the pork belly appetizer, and it was melt in your mouth good! The flavors work together perfectly, and we both loved this choice. We also both chose the skirt steak - it looked too perfect! It lived up to the hype as well - each cooked to our preference, the sauce on the top was delightful, and I can definitely say this was one of my favorite steak meals. We did try two different desserts - the chocolate option and the apple option (lol!). They were both complex and rich dishes with a good portion size - we were stuffed by the end! Both desserts were unique and tasty. Overall, this was a fabulous Magical Dining pick. Come here for your next special date night! read more
