We went to Bacari PDR to celebrate our anniversary. It was a perfect evening - relaxed atmosphere, delicious food and amazing staff. They greeted us with complimentary champagne to celebrate and later treated us to dessert! Becky was our main server and she was so great. So nice and friendly and helpful. I recently went back with a friend of mine for late Friday night drinks and tapas and Bacari didn't disappoint. Amazing food, awesome drinks and attentive service. Bacari PDR - Dinner menu as of 4.27.24 - Italian Near Me - Playa Del Rey, California

I tried this location in December, on a Saturday evening. Food is exceptional as usual. My only two complains are the following: 1. Their menu is a bit different than the rest of the restaurants and they don't offer as many options as the rest. For example, they don't have the delicious grilled pita, which is unfortunate. 2. We ordered the Tripoline pasta along with other things. Everything else arrived at an appropriate time, however, the pasta came quite literally as we were getting our check. Not sure what happened. The Tripoline pasta is delicious, and I was quite upset that it came so late and I didn't get to enjoy it. If you visit in the evening and you happen to be seated outside, be sure to bring a warm coat as it gets very chilly. They do have several heaters across the restaurant patio, but I don't think it's enough with how cold it gets. Overall, I think I'll stick to Bacari Culver City or Bacari Beverly Hills. read more

The best dining experience I've had in a while! Bravo Bacari PDR! We made a last minute resy and were seated quickly on the patio. It was a beautiful day and we had superb service from the staff. Everyone was kind and helpful, especially Micai! Very knowledgeable about the menu and had the BEST recommendations. We shared a bunch of tapas: - our faves: the cauliflower and broccoli! musts, so delicious - glazed pork belly: always delicious! perfect mix of crunchy, melty, charr, sweet, savory - sea bass: great! nice texture, love the crispiness, sauce, and perfectly paired sides - smoked mushroom pizza- good pizza, asked for red pepper flakes to accompany - watermelon cocktail: refreshing - love letter: quite possible the best cocktail I've ever had! The perfectly toasted marshmallow taste and texture was insane when paired with the honeyed whiskey, passion fruit cocktail. So freaking good - the best cake: how do they even get it to melt like that something I have to have every time I visit now - bread pudding: good in its own right, but pales in comparison to the best cake We finished our feast with lavender oatmilk lattes that were the most beautiful exclamation point on our dinner before we went to watch the sunset. 100000/10 read more

I've been to the dt LA location. Not sure if it's a seasonal thing or if this menu is different, but there were some slight differences in the menus (broccoli v broccolini, etc). We got the broccoli, sea bass, beets, pear pizza with bacon, pasta, pork belly, and some other dishes. The stands outs were the pizza and the pasta and the broccoli. They all had some amazing flavors and would highly recommend. Love the outdoor patio space and they do an amazing job with the heat lamps lol. They even provide blankets in case you are cold (they know how spoiled we are in LA). The bathrooms can be a bit tricky to find, but all good. Definitely not ADA friendly lol, which thankfully isn't an issue for us. Brandon was our server and he was great! Friendly even to our two small kiddos lol. Would definitely be back. read more

I've lived in the area for almost a decade but only somewhat recently got around to dining at Bacari PDR. I met up with a friend for dinner and we were lucky to have Nolan H. as our server due to the fact they were chill, patient, and actually knew the menu well which was nice since we asked for some recommendations! We ended up ordering the ricotta and beet gnocchi, scallops, and the stuffed mushrooms. I agree - it was a random mix of food, but honestly every dish was really tasty. The portions looked small at first but they were surprisingly filling. I also got a virgin espresso martini just for fun and yeah... not amazing. But also, what do you expect when you take the alcohol out of something that's all about the booze? Whomp whomp. As for ambiance I'd give it a 10/10. The spot is stunning, right near the water, and the vibe is laid back but still feels like a treat. I'll surely be back because there are so many more things on the menu I'd like to try! read more

Ambiance: it's a trendy bar restaurant located in PDR, street parking, large covered patio up the hill, but very limited tables inside the tiny dining room and covered patio, their servers have to take the weird route from the indoor kitchen and bar, and then go outside uphill to serve the large outdoor, it was so cold at night, the front door was widely open for severs to bring food to outside patio, but the indoor patio heaters weren't even turned on Service: very slow and disorganized, it took almost thirty minutes waiting time before got seated even with reservation, then what's the point of having reservation, the restaurant shouldn't release more time slots than they can handle, after seated, it's another ten minutes to get attention from server to get water and place the order, food was served fairly fast, but it took forever to get the bill Food & Price: one page menu items for cold, hot, pizza, and sweet beef cheek - **** red wine braised, goat cheese polenta, aleppo oil, pickled fennel, radish, tender meat, layers of flavors, recommend sea bass - ***** pan seared, charred shishito pepper and corn, tarragon aioli, pomegranate molasses, grilled lemon, crispy outside and juicy inside, bold acidity although overall balanced flavors, highly recommend smoked mushroom pizza - *** fromage blanc, two-year white cheddar, mixed greens, lack of flavors the best cake - *** medjool dates, brown sugar caramel, crispy bacon, add ice cream with surcharge, their speciality but overly sweet bacari beer - **** pilsner draft beer, easy to drink, recommend Price: small portions tapas style, still overpriced for its quality, expect $40+ per person, if it's not the sea bass, this place only deserves a two star rating honestly read more

We went to Bacari for the first time. It was my wife and my 10th anniversary. Although the portions are extremely small, the food is extremely tasty. We ordered six different dishes, and my favorites were the scallops, shrimp, ceviche, and Seabass. The restaurant has a nice setting, although it is extremely loud and sometimes hard to hear your conversations from across the table. The bar has a nice ambience and is very nice as well and it is extremely quiet. read more

Wow...such a find! I ended up at Bacari completely by chance. My friends wanted to get together, and we all abhor driving, so we picked a spot equidistant to each other landing us in Playa del Rey. I'll admit I've always avoided Playa because parking is a nightmare and I assumed it was mostly dive bars and beach burger shacks. But Bacari's menu looked intriguing...and very importantly, there's a large parking lot across the street. So that's where we chose to meet up... Somehow, I stumbled into one of the best meals I've had all year! Bacari's food is creative, refined, and so so good I briefly considered licking my plate. Had I been alone, I would have gone completely feral over that dish. We were celebrating a birthday and they kindly comped dessert! So kind. The staff across the board were genuinely lovely. I hadn't planned on indulging in the dessert (I'm trying to cut refined sugar), but my friends made such a loud fuss over the vegan double chocolate cake, I HAD to try. One bite and I was like: ARE. YOU. KIDDING ME. What kind of witchcraft is happening in that kitchen? Ok, so I feel I owe the whole town of Playa del Rey an apology for my ignorant earlier assumptions about its food scene. I could not have been more wrong. Bacari was easily one of my standout dining experiences of 2026 so far. I'll be back!!! read more

We sat on the outdoor patio which was nice for such a beautiful day in LA. The Asian Pear and Brie pizza was a great dish to kick off the meal. We followed it up with Shrimp Ceviche which was very lite and came with well seasoned chips, Brussel Sprouts that were perfectly roasted, Jidori Chicken Wings (a bit too spicy for me but if you like a lot of heat go for it!) and their new 'Moroccan Cigars' which were packed with lamb and chicken flavor (must have for me going forward). Our waitress, Daniella, had excellent service and made sure the night was special. To honor my parents special day she gifted us some champagne to go along with our Bread Pudding. read more

Got brunch here on a Saturday early afternoon and there was plenty of seating. The host was a little slow to seat us but we were able to get seated without reservations. We were seated on the patio and it was airy and cute but quite cramped and forces you to squeeze between tables to get around. We ordered the sangria, egg pizza, flaxseed pancakes, and the beef bureka. All the food was tasty and came out quickly! The restaurant sits on a hill so parking was a bit of a pain to find and would not be a great restaurant for those who have trouble walking downhill/uphill or on uneven surfaces. Our table was also very wobbly and small. I don't recommend using the single toilet near the patio - it was very dirty and wet? Our server said there were also bathrooms inside the restaurant that I didn't get a chance to check out. Overall not my favorite bacari location I've visited! read more

Came here tonight for Valentine's Day dinner with my husband and our daughter, and Bacari PDR did not disappoint! From the jump, the energy was on point--warm, lively, and inviting. We were greeted and seated promptly, and our waiter, Brigard, was beyond patient and helpful, especially since it was our first time dining here. Now, let's talk about the food! We ordered: * Fried chicken sliders - Crispy, juicy, and seasoned to perfection. * Brussels sprouts - Charred and caramelized with just the right amount of crunch. * Chipotle chicken wings - Smoky, spicy, and served hot and fresh! Our daughter had the kids' mac and cheese, and when I tell you, she cleaned that plate--enough said! For drinks, I had the Bacarita, a jalapeño-watermelon margarita that was the perfect mix of sweet with a little heat (yes, please!). My husband enjoyed an IPA--simple, crisp, and refreshing. But beyond the food and drinks, what truly made the night unforgettable was the people. Huge shoutout to Trayvon and Wade, the bar manager. When I say they were good people, I mean it--good people. I want to start out by saying that I have been to many other Bacari locations, but this experience was definitely the worst. While the food was all delicious and the location is great near the beach, the service and rest of the experience was horrid. Understanding it was busy time for brunch and they seemed severely understaffed - I felt bad but it just did not make for a great time as a customer. We started with ordering bottomless drinks for brunch, but we did not receive these pitchers until almost 45 minutes later - with no glasses to drink out of. 20 minutes later we finally get glasses to start drinking. Also, we had a broken glass given to us for water so we notified the server and asked for another glass - we never received another glass. We also ordered all of our food shortly after drinks, ordering a good amount of dishes for 7 people. We got the food slowly as well, but some of it came out before the drinks at least. We get through all of the dishes and realize that we didn't receive 5 whole dishes! We let the server know and they just said the kitchen is closed now so the food wouldn't be coming and the most they could do is just remove the food off our bill (THE BARE MINIMUM). Not even an apology or any discounts / comps for totally forgetting about our order. She then said she would send us a pitcher "on the house" when we were already paying for bottomless which made no sense and seemed like she was doing us a favor when in reality it was just an empty gesture. The server advised us at this point to stay a little longer to be able to order from the dinner menu instead if we wanted more food, so we were at the restaurant for a total of 3 hours. At least all of the food was good to somewhat redeem the experience. I will not be returning to this location ever and I will stick to some of the better & more consistent locations. read more

Randomly dropped in for a drink on the weekend. And it was super packed but we were able to grab a seat at the bar which worked out perfectly. I enjoyed a great gin sour and me and husband shared the burrata. He even got a perk of an extra bacarita due to a mistake. So overall win-win. read more

This was the only Bacari we had not dined at yet, so I was so happy we dined at all the restaurants they own in Los Angeles. Their menu is similar to the other Bacari restaurants, but the location is the only one near the Pacific ocean. Although the place is rather old, the food is still really good. The best part is dining outside under the canopy with views of the Pacific just a block away. Stick with any of the tacos and include any of the delectable Tapas style items. The wife is partial to the paleta which was like shrimp and grits, but more classy. The service was rather slow, as the patio was packed by 11:00 AM. The super nice weather in Playa del Rey brought out many couples who were able to find limited parking in the area. I would recommend parking across the street, if there is no other parking near the restaurant. read more

This restaurant is officially my current obsession. A friend and I came here for a girls' night a couple Fridays ago, and it was love at first bite. We made same-day reservations and were so glad we did--within minutes of arriving, there was already a crowd waiting to be seated. We sat inside, which is a small, intimate space that's perfect for date nights or a cozy night out. We were so excited to try everything that we definitely over-ordered (no regrets). It's a tapas-style menu with smaller plates; about 2-3 per person is recommended. Every single dish was incredible. Our favorite by far was the Brussels sprouts. Truly unforgettable. They also have an impressive variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The vegan shawarma tacos and pizza were AMAZING. I enjoyed it so much that I came back again that same weekend on Sunday Sunday had a totally different vibe. I sat outside on the patio, which is larger, lively, and super inviting. There are plenty of heaters, great music, and a fun, social atmosphere; perfect for brunch, casual hangs, or group outings. Both visits, I was fasting and eating vegan, so you already know once I was done fasting, I had to come back again. Last night, I returned for a girls' night/Galentine's celebration, and we were absolutely spoiled. We somehow ended up with the Princess Package (not on the menu) and Makai took care of us--he was incredible. Such a sweetheart, so attentive, and truly made our night feel special. The service was beyond phenomenal and consistent every single visit. This place nails the food, the vibe, and the service. I can't wait to come back (again).
