I've been to the dt LA location. Not sure if it's a seasonal thing or if this menu is different, but there were some slight differences in the menus (broccoli v broccolini, etc). We got the broccoli, sea bass, beets, pear pizza with bacon, pasta, pork belly, and some other dishes. The stands outs were the pizza and the pasta and the broccoli. They all had some amazing flavors and would highly recommend. Love the outdoor patio space and they do an amazing job with the heat lamps lol. They even provide blankets in case you are cold (they know how spoiled we are in LA). The bathrooms can be a bit tricky to find, but all good. Definitely not ADA friendly lol, which thankfully isn't an issue for us. Brandon was our server and he was great! Friendly even to our two small kiddos lol. Would definitely be back. read more

I've lived in the area for almost a decade but only somewhat recently got around to dining at Bacari PDR. I met up with a friend for dinner and we were lucky to have Nolan H. as our server due to the fact they were chill, patient, and actually knew the menu well which was nice since we asked for some recommendations! We ended up ordering the ricotta and beet gnocchi, scallops, and the stuffed mushrooms. I agree - it was a random mix of food, but honestly every dish was really tasty. The portions looked small at first but they were surprisingly filling. I also got a virgin espresso martini just for fun and yeah... not amazing. But also, what do you expect when you take the alcohol out of something that's all about the booze? Whomp whomp. As for ambiance I'd give it a 10/10. The spot is stunning, right near the water, and the vibe is laid back but still feels like a treat. I'll surely be back because there are so many more things on the menu I'd like to try! read more

We went to Bacari for the first time. It was my wife and my 10th anniversary. Although the portions are extremely small, the food is extremely tasty. We ordered six different dishes, and my favorites were the scallops, shrimp, ceviche, and Seabass. The restaurant has a nice setting, although it is extremely loud and sometimes hard to hear your conversations from across the table. Got brunch here on a Saturday early afternoon and there was plenty of seating. The host was a little slow to seat us but we were able to get seated without reservations. We were seated on the patio and it was airy and cute but quite cramped and forces you to squeeze between tables to get around. We ordered the sangria, egg pizza, flaxseed pancakes, and the beef bureka. All the food was tasty and came out quickly! The restaurant sits on a hill so parking was a bit of a pain to find and would not be a great restaurant for those who have trouble walking downhill/uphill or on uneven surfaces. Our table was also very wobbly and small. I don't recommend using the single toilet near the patio - it was very dirty and wet? Our server said there were also bathrooms inside the restaurant that I didn't get a chance to check out. Overall not my favorite bacari location I've visited! read more

This restaurant is officially my current obsession. A friend and I came here for a girls' night a couple Fridays ago, and it was love at first bite. We made same-day reservations and were so glad we did--within minutes of arriving, there was already a crowd waiting to be seated. We sat inside, which is a small, intimate space that's perfect for date nights or a cozy night out. We were so excited to try everything that we definitely over-ordered (no regrets). It's a tapas-style menu with smaller plates; about 2-3 per person is recommended. Every single dish was incredible. Our favorite by far was the Brussels sprouts. Truly unforgettable. They also have an impressive variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The vegan shawarma tacos and pizza were AMAZING. I enjoyed it so much that I came back again that same weekend on Sunday Sunday had a totally different vibe. I sat outside on the patio, which is larger, lively, and super inviting. There are plenty of heaters, great music, and a fun, social atmosphere; perfect for brunch, casual hangs, or group outings. Both visits, I was fasting and eating vegan, so you already know once I was done fasting, I had to come back again. Last night, I returned for a girls' night/Galentine's celebration, and we were absolutely spoiled. We somehow ended up with the Princess Package (not on the menu) and Makai took care of us--he was incredible. Such a sweetheart, so attentive, and truly made our night feel special. I want to start out by saying that I have been to many other Bacari locations, but this experience was definitely the worst. While the food was all delicious and the location is great near the beach, the service and rest of the experience was horrid. Understanding it was busy time for brunch and they seemed severely understaffed - I felt bad but it just did not make for a great time as a customer. We started with ordering bottomless drinks for brunch, but we did not receive these pitchers until almost 45 minutes later - with no glasses to drink out of. 20 minutes later we finally get glasses to start drinking. Also, we had a broken glass given to us for water so we notified the server and asked for another glass - we never received another glass. We also ordered all of our food shortly after drinks, ordering a good amount of dishes for 7 people. We got the food slowly as well, but some of it came out before the drinks at least. We get through all of the dishes and realize that we didn't receive 5 whole dishes! We let the server know and they just said the kitchen is closed now so the food wouldn't be coming and the most they could do is just remove the food off our bill (THE BARE MINIMUM). Not even an apology or any discounts / comps for totally forgetting about our order. She then said she would send us a pitcher "on the house" when we were already paying for bottomless which made no sense and seemed like she was doing us a favor when in reality it was just an empty gesture. The server advised us at this point to stay a little longer to be able to order from the dinner menu instead if we wanted more food, so we were at the restaurant for a total of 3 hours. At least all of the food was good to somewhat redeem the experience. I will not be returning to this location ever and I will stick to some of the better & more consistent locations. read more

What an incredible experience at Bacari in Playa del Rey. I brought a friend and we got there for brunch. The food was amazing. I am not usually a brunch person because typical brunches are not my thing (feh Hollandaise.) But this selection was beyond what I ever could have dreamed of, the best chilaquiles ever, amazing pizza with Lamb shashuca, incredible majadara dish. And the best dessert called the best cake. Have it with ice cream! This was the only Bacari we had not dined at yet, so I was so happy we dined at all the restaurants they own in Los Angeles. Their menu is similar to the other Bacari restaurants, but the location is the only one near the Pacific ocean. Although the place is rather old, the food is still really good. The best part is dining outside under the canopy with views of the Pacific just a block away. Stick with any of the tacos and include any of the delectable Tapas style items. The wife is partial to the paleta which was like shrimp and grits, but more classy. The service was rather slow, as the patio was packed by 11:00 AM. The super nice weather in Playa del Rey brought out many couples who were able to find limited parking in the area. I would recommend parking across the street, if there is no other parking near the restaurant. read more

The main reason for my 3-star rating isn't the food (which is phenomenal) -- it's the service. Bacari PDR has been on my radar for almost a year, and I was genuinely excited to finally check it out for brunch with friends who also had high praise for the place. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, it felt like things were going to be rocky. It was Saturday brunch Rush, and it was quite busy to say the least. It took quite a while just to get waters, and even longer to place our drink orders. It seemed that the wait staff may have been understaffed. We opted for the bottomless brunch, but the drinks didn't arrive until about 30-40 minutes later -- which is frustrating when there's a time cap. To make matters worse, even when the pitcher arrived, glasses weren't brought out right away. When the food finally came, things turned around -- at least temporarily. The dishes we ordered to share were fantastic. The pancakes were laced with cardamom, giving them a smoky, aromatic depth, and topped with honey for just the right sweetness. The shakshouka might honestly be one of the best I've had -- rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The ceviche was fresh and bright, paired with homemade seasoned chips that had a satisfying crunch. Unfortunately, the service issues resurfaced. We ended up waiting about 30 minutes for the last few items we ordered, only to find out they'd been forgotten entirely. By the time we checked, the kitchen had already closed at 3 PM. I had to leave for other plans, but my friends stayed to see if they could still get their dishes. They offered to place the orders once the kitchen reopened but they declined and so they were offered a free pitcher even though we already had bottomless drinks. Bottom line: The food is excellent, and if service matched the kitchen's talent, this would easily be a 5-star spot. As it stands, the long waits, forgotten orders, and slow drink service made it hard to fully enjoy the experience. I might give the Silver Lake location a try instead, in hopes of better execution. Came here one Saturday morning with some friends while there was a bit of a drizzle. Not many people there yet. We chose to sit inside but I think the atmosphere was better outside on the patio. Staff was friendly but service was a bit slow for the second order we placed, possibly due to our sitting inside. Friends and I got 2x French toast, pancakes, and the egg pizza. They did not validate parking since we parked in a lot one street over, but we were told to buy something from the coffee shop to get one hour off. The restaurant has an interesting set up with indoor patio, indoor, and outdoor seating, with the host stand not at the entrance of the restaurant but at the entrance of the outdoor dining section. There's signage that points you where to go though so you won't get lost. The food is tapas style with shareable portions, with recommendations to order 2-3 plates per person. We loved all the dishes we ordered (pork belly, pizza, sea bass, lettuce cups, baguette) with the exception of the scallops which were my least favorite, they were just overcooked. Biggest standout was actually the dessert. Order the "best cake" with vanilla ice cream, you won't regret it! read more

I've been eating at this place a lot lately. Love to enjoy their brunch on a sunny weekend or stop in for dinner as well. Their bottomless brunch is pretty unmatched at such a good restaurant in my opinion. I don't think I've anything bad on their menu, but I definitely have some favorites. I just went there for dinner and really enjoyed the watermelon feta app, the sea bass, the tripilone pasta (not sure I spelled that right). Their seasonal burrata Mac n cheese is always good. And the mjudara (also not sure of spelling). Their food is delicious and a nice Mediterranean fusion. When they're busy (especially weekend evenings) their service wanes a bit because it's just so popular, but everyone is super friendly albeit delayed. I do really recommend this place! This place was a swing and a miss. What a STRANGE experience. I'm really bummed too because I was meeting a friend there, and it made for such a confusing time. Note that they don't service all day for food. We had to wait... which would have been fine if they were timely to getting us ordered ahead of the kitchen opening. Then we waited even after the time (while others were seated and waited on). So many random people came to "help" us, and it was so confusing. The food was mediocre at best. Unmemorable. I've been wanting to try this place for forever and finally got the chance to! We made a reservation online for Saturday at brunch and were seated at a cute table up against the glass outside, which overlooked the street facing the beach. We decided to start with open bar which had pretty good options. It was definitely leaning on the more expensive side, but being that it was more than just bottomless mimosas for the options, The price seemed fair. I will also say that the servers were incredibly attentive with the drinks and I've never been to a bottomless place where they've been so good about checking in on us and making sure to refill our drinks before they're empty. We shared a couple of plates, which were all pretty delicious. It definitely gets a little bit expensive once you start ordering quite a few, but I love the aspect of being able to share the plates as I'm someone who likes to try a lot of different foods. My favorites were definitely the Shakshouka and the tacos, so flavorful and we loved!! The drinks were also really yummy, we tried the beer, mimosa, sangria and Bellini. Brussels sprouts were all right, I typically love brussels sprouts but they weren't my favorite here. We also got the open face burger, which was pretty decent, but I would say I prefer a handheld burger as it's kind of difficult to eat. The servers and the manager made a point of consistently coming up to us and making sure that we were okay, we really loved how kind all of them were, and is part of the reason we will definitely be back. They simply had incredible food, cute ambiance, incredible service and good drinks. We dined at Bacari PDR last Thursday night and had such a great experience. The food was honestly delicious across the board, everything we ordered hit. What really stood out though was the service. Trevor, Priscilla, and Tyler were all incredible. Attentive without being overbearing, genuinely warm, and clearly on top of everything. You can tell when a team actually works well together and cares about the experience, and that was definitely the case here. Their manager Liz is also an absolute gem! We had a small issue with our reservation, and she took care of things immediately for us. The ambience is also just really well done.
