The steak and crab cakes- Add some Simple Spices and seasoning. Thyme, paprika, sauté some garlic, scallions, pink Himalayan salt, black pepper- these are simple, but would bring up the Flavor of the food. It's delicious, but underseasoned. Maybe even marinade. Even though the food was underseasoned, it was still good. I'm no great cook. Just saying though... I really enjoyed my baked sweet potato, garlic bread and broccoli. I enjoyed the service, ambiance. The photographer was very patient and thorough. Our waitress was truly genuinely kind, informative, polite, thorough, attentive! Of course I enjoyed being there with my lovely husband and family! Went back to The Warehouse for the first time in probably 20 years because we were nearby. The so-so Yelp reviews had me a little hesitant, but honestly, I found the place charming in that old-school Marina del Rey way. It feels like a bit of a time capsule, and sometimes that's exactly what you want. Service was friendly and quick. We had the Sonoma salad with chicken, the filet steak special (without bacon), and soup. Nothing fancy, just solid, well-prepared food at a very reasonable price for the area. Was very excited to check this place out as I've seen it online via YouTube channels. I sat on the patio and excitedly order the rum barrel. Been here a few times now, the most recent was the last DineLA promotion. Each time, it was I had a good experience. Valet parking. Starting off with parking. It's valet only. I don't remember how much - $6 or $8. Call ahead or know it's not that much. Or park elsewhere and walk. Up to you. For DineLA, reservations were recommended. My friends got in and good thing too - place was packed. Both indoors/outdoors and the bar area. Live music and dancing in the bar area. We had great window seats that could have only been better had we been outside. Service was good for how hectic it was. We were seated sorta in line of sight for staff coming out of their work area. So, it was easy to catch someone's attention. No waiting for our server as the team just helped. Everything from question down to the bill and to go containers. And this was with a few large parties (that we could see). Not to mention, DineLA. Excluding dessert, for $35 - see pics. Food came out nice and hot, and importantly, as requested. It was a fine experience. There is something about this first time experience that feels like they missed the mark. Service was great. Food was filling. Drinks were amazingly priced. $7 for use of valet service. The wife and I ordered the Tenderloin burgers after seeing our neighbors burgers arrive at their table. The place is honestly way cooler than the food. It's such a fun space and tons of movies and commercials have been filmed here, so it was neat just soaking in the atmosphere and imagining the scenes shot there. That said, the food wasn't great. I had read other reviews beforehand that mentioned the same thing, so I went in with lower expectations and focused more on enjoying the vibe. I'd recommend doing the same. First let me start with why this is rated two stars. The quality of the food this evening on April 24th was not very good. The calamari and crab cakes were fried in some burnt old oil, as you could smell the oil when the food was delivered to the table. We tried them both and made it a point to tell the waiter. He removed it off the bill. We would rave about the Ribeye Steak here, but on Friday night all was a disappointment. The pasta wasn't flavorful and the Cesar dressing was a cross between Cesar and Italian dressing not tasty at all. The steaks were not tender and flavorful like they normally have been. All in all it was not a good experience and we brought our son and his girlfriend to dinner thinking it was going to be delicious and we were sadly disappointed. We came with some friends before a concert for a quick dinner. The staff and service were very good and food came out quickly. The restaurant had a tropical feel inside. We had reservations and were seated quickly. The restaurant is located near the Marina and the views were very nice. We came during Dine LA week and had their pre fixe menu. We all had a taste of one another's dishes since there were 6 of us. We tried the NY steak, Grilled Talapia, and Chicken Marsala, all served with mash potatoes. We also had Clam chowder and Caesar salad, plus NY cheesecake and their Brownie ice cream sundae for dessert. We also ordered some Oysters on a half shell, which were fresh and delicious. I recently visited The Warehouse for a holiday board party with a group of 19, and it was a great overall experience. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and did an excellent job managing a larger group, which always makes a big difference. The décor is definitely a bit dated, but honestly, it works--you quickly realize that the charm and character wouldn't be the same if it were anything else. Parking can take a little patience, even with valet, but once you're inside, it's smooth sailing. I live locally here in Marina del Rey, so I have been wanting to try The Warehouse for quite some time. It's located right on the water and has really unique indoor seating as well as heated outdoor seating with harbor views, which is where we sat for our dinner. All the heaters made it really warm, even though it was outside, and we had great views of the boats and the water behind the restaurant. One of my favorite things about living in Los Angeles is being able to eat outdoors at 7:30 at night in the middle of December and not be too cold. The only parking option will be valet for $7 and the inside of the restaurant is quite large and is divided into multiple sections. They also have a separate bar area as well. Our server was very polite and everything that we ordered came out pretty fast. It's important to note that they add a 15% service charge on top of your bill, but the servers only see about 1/4 of that. For this first visit, I started with the Fiji Louie Salad which is basically shrimp and crab, hard-boiled egg, beets, and a few other things in salad form, and I really enjoyed it. It was a large sized portion, so it was a great start to the meal. For my entrée, I chose the 16oz Prime Rib and honestly really liked it. It was cooked just as I ordered and I have zero complaints about it. I wish the horseradish sauce would've been a bit spicier but overall it was a really nice meal. A few colleagues and I came by for dinner after seeing them on a Yelp search of the area. We were lured in mostly by the look of the restaurant and the promise of a decent view. Boy, were we pleasantly impressed with the overall experience. Half our group had gone to a local brewery and about half a dozen of us came here. We shared pics of our spot and they all immediately regretted not coming with us. In any case, the service, view, and decor were all top notch. The real joy was the food and drinks. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking the the prawns (more like mini-lobster!) were perfect. The drinks were really good and, since I wasn't driving, I had...a few. They were all delicious but the MaiTai was the best. So many places half-ass MaiTai's but not here. The restaurant decor is a lot of fun. It almost feels like I'm entering into the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland as I was walking in. I attended with a large party, so I understand that it is sometimes hard to serve a larger party seamlessly. There were a couple of moments where it did feel like the waitress was a bit overwhelmed or shy to ask if anyone needed drink or water refills. The food was good, but there were a few elements that did feel a bit overcooked. I ordered the filet mignon with two prawns. While not as luxurious tasting as filet mignon can be, the steak was good, but the prawns were a bit rubbery/overcooked. I enjoyed the loaded baked potato. The cheese and bacon bits were very satisfying. The calamari from the appetizers were more on the rubbery side as well, but still fun. The drinks were good and strong. They come with cute little monkey or mermaid adornments. We had fun collecting them all. The tiramisu was good, but it was a bit more sweet than I prefer. It's been quite some time since I've been last here. There was a group of us just popping in for drink which lead to drinks and a meal. I do remember there's valet and maybe self parking. Which we did and after we left, the valet came over to ask us to pay for self parking. Didn't think it was a big deal to self park but oh well. Guess you still have to pay. And can't forget the sunset, it's prime spot for it as it's going down being the boats. That's patio seating. Inside there's the bar area to one side and dining to other. Bar area is pretty big with a second floor. I think it's utilize for both bar and restaurant side. Our waitress was quite great. Didn't get her name but she was the sweetest. I feel we were all over the place as there were a good amount of us trying to all order at the same time. Some not ready while others were. She managed to hold the fort down and very professional about it...lol.... There was a round of cocktails and then another. Just mentioned, we thought we were only here for drink but that lead to food as well. The Lamar pasta which sounded good but something about the orange glaze for a pasta was a little off. But everything did work well together with the seafood, veggies and linguine. A few orders of the fish and chips were ordered. All with different versions of fries, steak, thin and sweet potatoes. The fish was battered quite nice and was flaky. Also, the chicken picatta, tasty and very good. Perfect with mashed potatoes and the sauce paired well with the chicken. The French dip, simple but good. Decent amount of sliced beef, cheese and bun. Simple but classic. Also had another order of the pasta with scallops and shrimp, basically seafood. That was quite tasty as well. Big shrimp with big potions of scallops and tossed with linguine and mushrooms. Another great dish. After that, another round of cocktails was ordered. We were out and about for someone's birthday which they asked if we were celebrating something. From there, a dessert came out with a candle for the birthday girl. Came here for the Shipwrecked event and was not impressed. The event claimed that it was 2 floors of vendors but they were all just squished together on the 2nd floor. It made it difficult to walk round especially as more people arrived. After doing a once around we decided to grab a drink. The bar on the 2nd floor was closed so we went to the downstairs bar which was about 25 people deep, had only 1 bartender who was also making drinks for the diners. Who schedules 1 bartender and only has 1 bar open during an event? Then there was really no where you could settle up at with your drink so you just had to stand and try not to get knocked into. I expected more from the place for the price and the hype. They automatically add a 15% "service fee" to the check. They do $20 All You Can Drink Mimosas at brunch on weekends, so either go to enjoy those drinks or eavesdrop on people imbibing happily. The chicken was plump & moist in the sandwich and loved the basil mayo! I could have used a bit more brie cheese though and there were like 3 pieces of one grape cut up...maybe a bit more of the grapes for a nice, fruity balance to the sandwich. All served on a croissant. Liked it a lot but could use a bit plumping up of the non-protein ingredients. My favorite part of The Warehouse Restaurant is the over top-ness of it all with so much to look at. Tables along the water let you watch as waves wash against sailboats on an ocean gleaming in the sunlight. More specifically, views overlooking Basin F of Marina del Rey if you want to be technical. Inside looks like a tiki bar took over by Pirates and outside is equally as nautical. They have turtles sunbathing and water body full of the biggest and most active koi fish of all time. Those things looked like monsters bashing against the rocks. I enjoyed watching them also worrying if the water level was too low. We had a work dinner at The Warehouse Restaurant last night. I can say this a really good place for a large group dinner. The vibes are good and make it a good choice for a large group. Or a loud group. Or a young group. Or a kid group. Maybe even an old group. Because the restaurant feels a bit old. There's something for nostalgia but there also should be something for updating some of the details from time to time. I'm just not sure they are doing that here. Our server Ashley was great. We were a table Of 14 and she managed everything to the best of Her ability and everyone enjoyed their time at the restaurant. The live music from the other room was a nice touch also. Being that we were such a large party I'll try and give a rundown of the food I sampled and my main meal. We started with calamari, oysters, crab cakes and skewers. The calamari was good. Not great but not bad by any means. Crispy and flavorful with a couple of sauce options. The oysters which I believe were Fanny Bay were oddly very salty and ocean water tasting. The mignonette lacked flavor and they did not serve the oysters with Tabasco or horseradish which someone commented would have made a difference. The crab cakes were really good and the skewers lacked major flavor and the peanut sauce was just kind of there. For my main I had the shrimp and filet plate with a side of mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. I would have liked some seasoning on the broccoli and that's the theme of my main dish. My filet was nicely cooked however it was void of any flavor from seasoning. I have not put steak sauce on a steak in a long time. I reached for a bottle of A1 but fought the temptation and just ate a bland steak. The mashed potatoes were good and the shrimp were nicely prepared. But if the filet was the star, it was dimly lit. Most people enjoyed the meals and honestly for the price of their dishes you almost cannot complain. Like the decor something's are worth keeping the same and that's these prices. I tried a few cocktails. Starting with a bloody Maria that was delish, a mai tai that was not good and then their Barrel cocktail, that had a nice punch (without the punch). We shared a number of desserts with the brownie Sunday being a favorite. The cheesecake is good but dense. The cookie dessert looked good and I loved the sight of the deconstructed root beer float. The specials are unavailable on the patio. Nice that HH lasts between 4 and 7 PM Monday through Friday. Salmon sliders were great but nachos fell flat. Needed more beans and crispier chips. Background music would have been nice. I guess they leave that exclusively to the live acts later in the evening. Favorite drinks on special were the Tropical Cosmo and the Mai Tai. I ordered the atlantic salmon which comes stuffed with crab in a lobster sauce and as a side, I got the garlic mashed potatoes. The salmon and the mashed potatoes were absolutely bland and had no flavor whatsoever. But worse was the shrimp scampi, which was disgusting. Based on what we ordered at our table, this is a mediocre menu prepared unimaginatively, if professionally. Our waitress was attentive and, again, professional. Not to be confused with engaging. So, the three stars are for the perfunctory restaurantness of the restaurant. Where they slipped was, frankly, unnecessary and short-sighted. We were seated outside on the edge of the deck and at 6pm (we just set the clocks forward), the sun had dropped to where it was blinding us and others seated near us. The staff made a thoughtless attempt to adjust the umbrellas that line the deck and were a bit brusk when questioned about why they didn't succeed. "Not possible," they said. And it wasn't...until I got up and did it myself! What I am left to believe is that the Warehouse is comfortable with blinding and burning their customers between, say, 5:45 and 6:20pm. A note to the manager; this is going to happen every day, so you may want to find a solution to the problem. And have a word with your umbrella guy. read more

I remember coming to this restaurant a number of years ago with my family and when my wife and I stayed at a hotel nearby for Valentine's Day weekend, I thought it would be nice to come back. We made a reservation online on OpenTable a few weeks prior to Valentine's Day and when we got to the restaurant, we were promptly seated. The waiter came over and took our order and the food came out a short time later. The filets were the bomb and my wife and I did not leave hungry. We were offered to be seated in the bar for happy hour, the heated patio or the dining room which was our preference. The booth was comfortable and had a nice view of the harbor. Server was right there to take drink orders and returned right when we were ready to order. My partner had the blackened pork chops and I had a rib eye with a wedge salad. Food was great and the server knew exactly when to return with the desert menu so we couldn't get away and it was worth it the banana desert was nearly a meal in itself and I had a lovely piece of cheese cake.
