Brought a party of 12. At the end of the night with a 20% tip, the waiter asked for added amount to the tip. Never heard of that before. The food was OK. I had to ask the waiter to come over and take a second round of drinks when our food arrived. When asked about vegetarian items he told us just to look at the menu without any suggestions when I called the next day to speak with the owner instead of taking positive criticism. I've been eating dinner at this restaurant more and more. My favorite sandwich is the Rueben. The corned beef is the best I've ever had in a sandwich. I also love the chicken kabob. My husband and I were happy to see Matt, the owner and long-time Bacchus restaurateur who we have enjoyed talking with over the past 25+ years, both here and at the former location in Kildeer. The wine cellar atmosphere and dim lighting make the space feel warm and cozy. I particularly appreciate this since bright lights affect those of us who live with vertigo issues. On this occasion we were not overly hungry but stopped in for some adult beverages and a light bite. Always consistent, the Goat Cheese Phyllo is a favorite appetizer. We were excited to see the Chocolate Timbale as a dessert option. It had been a favorite of ours over the years. Yum! Our bartender and server Paco was always hard at work, yet attentive and quick to replace our empty glasses. My husband and I have been here a few times and this used to be a restaurant we considered a nice location. It's since become more like a loud watering hole and the ambiance has suffered greatly. The food used to be pretty great, as well, though we almost always came for lunch or early dinner. However, we went this evening where we found none of the patrons or staff wearing masks, the food was overcooked (my "rare" prime rib reminded me more of a roast) and it was nearly impossible to get our check. We almost left cash and just walked out. I was also none-too-thrilled to have a trash can not 5 feet from our table. This is supposed to be a nice establishment. I'm afraid for the cost they're asking for their meals, and the quality they're serving, that we'll need to find a place that can better accommodate our needs. $120 (with tip, of course) for a meal for two in a loud setting? Usually I take some time out to leave a comment about businesses that are either really great or really disappointing; not just average. I am happy to report that Bacchus is one of those GREAT restaurants that never disappoints me and I have been going there periodically for years. First off, the food is always spot on. Matt, the owner has honed in on perfecting the quality of the experience of dining and his employees are well trained. The ambience in the restaurant is also comfortable and relaxing. Special kudos: On our last visit to Bacchus, Lio happened to be our waiter. If there was a college for "Profession Restaurant Servers", Lio would be at the top of the class. We've been lucky to have Lio as our waiter several times now. He is the epitome of a professional server and he is at a level that all severs should aspire too. This place is decent, but has a lot of potential to be great. They need to update some seating, decor and make sure to dust everything properly. We were sat in old chairs next to a wine rack that was filthy. Wine and service is cheap and just ok. Food could be much better quality and more creative. Bland and very plain mashed potatoes and veggies served with the duck on special. Basic appetizers that are nothing special. Decent room and theme, need to update decor and menu to get with the times a bit more. Wouldn't go back unless I was passing through LZ and D&J wasn't open. They need to add a balsamic Brussels sprout dish, Fois Gras, and add some truffle oil to certain things like the artichoke dip. Just my suggestion. read more

OMG!!!!! This place is great. Went here in January with some friends from work. If you enjoy wine this is the place to go. The Escargot was amazing!!! Nibbles has good food and service, however they neglect to inform their costumers that no one, absolutely no one working there is masking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 . We arrived when the restaurant was not crowded, but as the evening progressed we realized that people were jammed into the restaurant and no measures were taken to stop the potential spread of disease. There were no plexiglass dividers between tables nor was there a sign on the door informing customers that masks are required. I'm not sure how this sits with the health department, but we'll NEVER return. read more

I am surprised to see such great reviews for Bacchus Nibbles. This was our first time there because we wanted to try something new. First, they have things on their menu that they dont actually have available. I was hoping for the prime rib today as it is a Friday and Saturday item only and I was told they dont have it anymore. Secondly; the food. They had a half slab of ribs. I asked if they had a full slab option to which I was told "we can work something out". Working something out, is apparently charging me for two half order ribs. This cost me $37 for a full slab of ribs. I am not sure there is another place in the world that would charge that price for a full slab of ribs. The ribs were nothing better than mediocre, not even close to anything special. So, $37 for a nothing better than a fast food chain ribs. They had no substance to them, and an extremely cheap, watery sauce. They came with french fries that were stale, yes stale! The vegetables were absolutely horrible as well, basically microwaved veggies. On to my wife's meal. She ordered the Grilled Salmon with mash potatoes. Let's put it this way. I am sitting on a piece of salmon and mashed potatoes. She said this was the worst piece of salmon and the absolute worst mash potatoes shes ever eaten. Luckily we had something in the house she could eat because what she ordered was not edible. Lastly; the appetizer. We purchased the bacon wrapped scallops. They were actually very good. We both enjoyed it however... We paid $14 for three scallops. THREE freaking scallops. It's been a while since I last went to a restaurant and felt like I didnt get ANYTHING close to the money I spent. These three items cost us nearly $90 and one of the meals was completely not edible. It's safe to say we will never be visiting Bacchus again. The fact it has so many positive reviews, is clearly about its wine and not its food. I cannot comment on the wine, but if you are going there strictly to eat, and you believe this place has good food, goes more to what you believe is good food than what they actually serve. read more

I used to come here quite often as they had lovely authentic French appetizers like pate, escargot and ratatouille. From my last visit, the food has definitely gone downhill. Owner is still very friendly but the food... First, onion soup was lukewarm. Then the gumbo special of the night was soaked in oil. Portions have gone enormous to accommodate customers who value quantity over quality. One of the Eastern-European waitresses simply refused to apologize for the dishes and said it's up to the chef. Haven't been here in a long time, I think since this "new" location opened. Must be another COVID victim. So disappointing! Went there for my husband's birthday as I wanted him to have a special treat. Should have know as soon as we walked in that things were not going to be good. The manager berated the poor young hostess right in front of us before we were even seated! And the couple seated next to us had left most of their food on their plates. I know places are understaffed, but when you're charging this much, I expected a lot more, including that our waiter (Brandon) be experienced and good. He was not. Once he brought our drinks and food, he disappeared. My husband ordered the special of the night - steak medallions that were 'way overdone and my food was cold (béarnaise sauce was frozen!) and steak was raw (ugh). When we finally found waiter to send my food back, he did take it back, but when he brought it back out, haughtily told me that the sauce was supposed to be served that way (NOT!). Told waiter it was my husband's birthday and...nothing. I had even told the manager when I made the reservation. So, I had to buy my husband's birthday dessert, which was actually the best part of the meal - chocolate timbale - but not worth over $100. After eating here I told my brother it was more a three and a half. He wanted me to give it a four and here is why. The restaurant is as cluttered on the inside as it is on the outside. I found it odd that they were going for some sort of rustic Italian feel with all the crates of wine,but it was funny to see other random liquor like Midori which doesn't quite scream wine country to me. The random paintings of Marilyn Monroe also threw me off. One cannot live on ambience alone, so how was the food you say? For me there were some hits and misses, but overall I enjoyed my meal. Their bread is delicious and we almost got full just eating that. May I suggest ordering the Brie with lingonberries or the escargot and using the bread with it. Yum, practically a meal itself. I was fooled by the bay scallops entree (I was craving big ass scallops, I forgot bay scallops are baby sized). Ryan's chicken alfredo was really good. Chicken is chicken, but the penne and the sauce they make is garlic-rific! Some of the entrees ordered by our group were also pretty good as far as the meat being cooked well. Go for the wine, don't stay for the food. BN is quirky. Their wine/bar selection is great. The food, on the other hand, is average. The best thing on the menu is the egg roll/pot sticker appetizer. I had the beef tenderloin schnitzel. My friend had the tilapia in phyllo. The beef tenderloin was bland. I never use salt and found myself looking for the salt shaker. The tilapia in phyllo was overcooked and needed some flavor as well. The ambience (especially the fire place) is great. Service was good. the wines are great and priced moderately. This place was a total surprise. It was a meeting place for my ride and I didn't expect to eat but I had one of the best Caesar salads of my life. The dressing had such a unique flavor and the chicken was extremely fresh and tender. They have a decent wine list and a cute outdoor seating area, excellent for summer and far enough away from the busy intersection to make it comfy. The menu has enough variety to please many tastebuds and if everything is as fresh as the salad, you won't be disappointed. The foods being delivered to other tables looked good too. The service was adequate. Not friendly, but prompt and attentive. The food was alright. Not great, but definitely acceptable. Lunch for 2 for the first time at BN Was greeted and seated quickly. Very dark room with shades drawn and windows with deep tint. (So 80s) But maybe that why the average age in the restaurant was approx 75-80. Ordered glass of Legend Cab Noticed that the "God of Wine" does not like to wipe down all the greasy and dusty bottles of wine that surround the dining room. Ordered goat cheese in phyllo. Would be better without the peppers that stole the taste from the goat & phyllo. Ordered Tuna special and the roasted duck with peach sauce. Wow where do I start, the tuna was a nice piece but extremely over seasoned and very salty. Garlic mashed were very heavy on the garlic for lunch time when most people return back to business. Now shame on me for knowing better but still ordering duck at lunch. First of all it was FAR from crispy in fact the cold duck still had hard fat and you would think since they cooked it the day before that the second cooking would have rendered the fat out. Chef needs lessons on how to serve day old duck, or better yet take it off the dam menu. That being said we did not order dessert and was brought a $59 check for lunch. I know that's crazy spending 59 for lunch but if it was good or better yet great then we don't mind. By the way we did ask for the owner and he was conveniently off on Wednesday. Haven't been to Bacchus Nibbles since they moved and it was as good as I remembered. We were a party of four and were celebrating my Mom's birthday. The wine suggested by the server was very good. For appetizers we had the escargot and smoked salmon - both were amazing. We also had spinach salads and the filet minion kabob - both were very good. For dessert we had the crème brulee which was superb. All was for a fair price for the quality. The reason why I am writing a review is because the service was exceptional. Once I had to send two duck entrees back before I gave up and just drank my dinner. Tonight we were meeting friends who really wanted to eat here. I decided to order safe. They can't screw up a petite filet, right? Well, I didn't send it back. Instead, I decided that eating a well done filet that was ordered as medium rare was my better option. It tasted okay, but it was not anywhere even in the neighborhood of mid-rare. Any cook worthy of the title ought to be able to grill filets to any order. A chef should be embarrassed to send out a steak that far off of ordered temperatures. My advice is to go for the wine, and then hit anyplace else for food - TGI Friday's is just down the street and would be a big step up in deliciousness. read more

We decided to eat here after my in-laws had a FANTASTIC experience 4 days before. My sister-in-law inhaled her pasta in about 5 minutes and my Italian father-in-law couldn't wait to go back. We returned on a Sunday and we're very disappointed. The food took 30 minutes to get to our table and it was not worth the wait. The pasta was served with a sauce that was different and way to sweet. My chicken piccata had over cooked pasta and the chicken had no flavor. It was soupy and only eaten because I was starving and needed to get somewhere. Based on other reviews I read after, it sounds like this place has trouble with consistency and needs to be selected with caution. read more
