The homemade sauces, gravies, perfectly roasted potatoes and fresh vegetables are incredible every time I come here. The trout and veal are always perfect. Bacio might be the best Italian restaurant in the area. Every dish seems to the bring its A game. Recent design upgrades expanded the restaurant and provided a nice, clean look. The owner is always there and makes sure things run smoothly. Start with the fried calamari. But don't fill up on apps because the main courses are absurdly good. If you are looking for some heavy pasta, go with the Cannelloni. If you want meat, you absolutely need to go with the Berkshire Pork Chop with Cherry Peppers -- it is exploding with flavor and heat. The cherry peppers blend perfectly with the port and sausage. Deserts are also good. Wine: go simple with a glass of the benvolio pinot grigio. Cheap but tasty. read more

I went here for the first time and definitely will go back. They do not take reservations which allows for the more interested crowd to get in your car and just go. They have a bar to sit and have cocktails which was nice. For appetizers we have the cold antipasti and mussels which turned out very good, for dinner we had steak and the lamb chops which everything was cooked to perfection. The staff was polite and you had time in between meals to talk. The desserts are fabulous nice choices on the menu. Tony and his team do an amazing job and define small-town hospitality. You're greeted like you're entering their home, have all your favorites on the menu, and leave with a full stomach and full of good memories after. Tony has also always been so generous to our town. Anytime there's a silent auction or a fundraiser, you know Bacio will be part of a top prize. Most recently I went with my In-laws and our 8-week old baby, and then again a couple of weeks later. Coming with a newborn I wasn't sure what to expect, but I wasn't surprised to find the same genuine hospitality and take extra care and caution for not only her safety during a pandemic but also to make sure we were all comfortable and had a good time. When you're in this neck of the woods (most NYCers truly feel like Northern Westchester is the woods), your best bet for Italian food is either Bacio in Cross River or The Blue Dolphin in Katonah. My family has been going to both for many years and they are both excellent. Bacio has great service, albeit a bit slow (where are you rushing off to?), and delicious food. In the summer months, you can sit outside on their tented patio, which is really lovely. Some of my favorite dishes: ~the *home made crab cakes* - if you're not super hungry, this and a salad is plenty ~the *caesar salad* - crisp & refreshing, with tons of shaved parmesan ~*fettuccine alla bacio* - no longer on the menu, but they'll still make it. It comes with shrimp, mushrooms, tomatoes, and spinach. ~*linguine in white clam sauce* - also no longer on the menu, but DEFINITELY worth a try ~*salmone alla siciliana* - my mom's go-to order. Typically salmon is a boring order, but they prepare it exceptionally well here. read more

We went to Bacio (which means Kiss) on a recommendation from a friend. When I walked in, I immediately recognized one of the guys from La Fontane - a restaurant my family used to frequent years and years ago. Right then, I knew it would be a pleasurable dining experience. The restaurant is small, but we arrived at about 6:20 and there were plenty of seats available. They don't take reservations, and there is only a small waiting area - so keep that in mind if you plan on going in the winter. The atmosphere is just right - lively but still easy to carry on a conversation. And the walls were covered in what seemed to be a rotating mix of artwork - this time being a series of elegant photographs. The food is a mixture of authentic Italian and standard American-Italian fare. The portions are huge - which offsets the price. It's actually quite a steal when you realize you can make 2 or 3 meals from one entree. there is only a $1 charge if you want to share an entree, too - probably a good option for some. I ordered a special appetizer: grilled octopus on arugula. Oh my goodness. It was probably the best grilled octopus I've ever had: cooked to perfection, the exact balance of seaford/grilled flavor that you'd want. I was kind of disappointed when my husband didn't want a taste because I had no one to share the joy with. He ordered the potato leek soup of the day and enjoyed it. For entrees, he ordered the bow tie pasta with prosciutto and zucchini. The portion was huge, and it was swimming in the tasty, cream sauce. It probably could have used less sauce, to be honest. But since it was pasta, he could pick out the pieces and leave most of the sauce on the plate. I ordered from the regular menu as well - pork with hot cherry peppers and garlic. I got 3 (!!) loin cuts on my plate and a gigantic tree of broccoli and about a cup of industrial rice. The meat was seasoned wonderfully and the sauce was unusual, spicy and delicious. The broccoli was good, if a little plain. The rice wasn't that great. Still, I took the leftovers home and enjoyed the meal the next day for lunch. We're definitely going to go back again. read more

My boyfriend and I went to Bacio for Valentine's Day and have been so excited ever since to go back. Since we were able to make reservations for Valentine's Day, I called today to see if it was possible to make reservations for tonight. The phone call went like this: "Hi. I was wondering if you take reservations?" The lady responds: "No." And hangs up the phone. I was very offended by this and so put off that my boyfriend and I will not be going to Bacio. We come here all the time. Their specials are always delicious and their pasta with speck and saffron sauce is phenomenal. The house wine is surprisingly pretty good. The makeover is nice - the space is a lot more open, however, it is lacking in the decor department. The new fireplace is great, but there is nothing over the mantel except for a blank wall. There isn't much artwork on the walls either. I think if they spent a few extra dollars adding some more wall decor, the place would be perfect. read more

Came here for lunch with my family today to celebrate a birthday. Last time we came we all had great meals so I had high hopes for this place... hate to say I was slightly disappointed. pros: the outdoor patio is cute, the food was DELICIOUS! They serve yummy bread while you wait for your meals. Nice portions, prices weren't unreasonable for what you were getting. Cons: our server clearly forgot to put one of our guests meals in and instead of apologizing or comping the meal when the rest of our food came out he tried to play it off like his would be right out. We were halfway done with our meals by the time his food came. As a fellow server I would have apologized & at least offered free coffee or dessert, if not comp the meal!! He also forgot to bring lemons for the water that I asked for. There were long stretches of time where he would not walk by our table (like while trying to pay for bill). The other thing I wasn't crazy about was the menu. They need more options for lunch. When our food came out there was confusion as to who ordered what because no one could pronounce the Italian names (although I love the authenticity, it is not practical). I thought I ordered eggplant under the specials list but it was listed under "la pasta" subheading which was confusing. Turns out it was a pasta dish! We always have a hard time finding a great Italian restaurant around us especially one that makes its own pasta. This was amaaaaaaazing!!! I don't think we can go anywhere else. I have only been there once with my husband and son, we were all extremely happy people after eating there. We started with grilled calamari which in my opinion is so much better than fried. My son had spaghetti and meatballs, my husband had the Gnocchi special with sausage and rabbit ragu, and I had the Cannelloni...all homemade fresh as fresh can get pastas! Their desserts are equally delicious (creme brule, cannoli cream chocolate cake), and they have an extensive wine list. I cannot wait to got back, just writing this is making me hungry! read more

We've been to Le Fontaine many times and love it, Blue Dolphin (not at all, it's a 2 star place) Tonight we went with friends for the first time. Faux wood top tables and no linen table cloth, and paper napkins just not right for a place that seems to be "fine dining." The apps were good, zucchini florets stuffed with ricotta were okay, just okay. They ran out of the pork chops scarpariello and replaced it with veal chops. The chops were cooked exactly to my liking, however, there was too much heat in the dish and no sausage, I was told they didn't have pork chops, never said no sausage! Scarpariello should not be chili pepper hot. My wife had the steak and was unimpressed. Our friends seemed to enjoy their food, one had a shrimp dish the other a shell fish dish with pasta. We had a bottle of Travaglini Gattinara Riserva which at $110.00 was over priced even for a restaurant. The service was quite good, Yolanda who is known to our friends made us feel welcomed and was attentive without being intrusive. She gave us a second on our espresso and cappuccino and gave me a complimentary shot of Sambuca. All in all a great evening because the company was fantastic, and I can look past the fare if I'm with people I enjoy being with. I'd like to give a 3- or 2+, but I can't, so with all the mis-steps outweighing the good it's a 2. I think I'd stick with Le Fontaine, it's closer to home and the food is a tad better. read more

We are so lucky to live in a place with a restaurant like this. This is a Gem of a neighborhood restaurant. The owners and the staff all care about what they do and it shows. It's a loving warm and cozy place. We are NYC foodies and when we come to the country we want to simply have a consistent food experience. We have eaten at Bacio I am guessing 50 times and we have never had a bad meal. Always a nice smile and fast kind service. Let's start with I have never been to the old Bacio but I have visited the new one twice now..... my first visit the was good and it lured me for a second visit. Let's say in the first the place it is nice and waitress/bartender was very nice and attentive I wanted something old school so I asked for a simple dish of angel hair pasta aioli with browned garlic and a little more oil I like wetter, Well when it came the pasta was cooked perfectly and the oil amount was good but the cook failed to brown the garlic which in this dish is a must for the full flavor I had two fork fulls then decided instead of eating almost raw garlic and being married to the toilet in the morning I stopped eating, when asked about the dish I told the waitress that I don't believe it was cooked properly they were nice about it and removed it from the bill but nevertheless I was disappointed that a cook cannot make an entry level dish then I question the rest of his dishes ????? Let's say friends I will give it one more shot but that shot needs to be a bullseye or it's three strikes and your out. read more

A delicious lunch the day prior at their sister restaurant in Katonah (the Blue Dophlin), led us to Cross River and Bacio for a post-hike late lunch. We're so happy we made the detour. The owner hails from Capri and the food was simply delicious. Sitting in the covered outdoor garden area, with a lovely breeze and a view of flowers, made us feel like we were in Italy. We enjoyed two specials - the homemade ziti with tomato, mozzarella and eggplant was hands-down one of the best pasta dishes I've ever had - and a simple arugula salad with grilled sardines. We split these dishes and it was a perfect serving for a late lunch. Yolanda was our waitress and she informed us that the penne is called "num num" by the staff. We'll return again for sure. Note: Sundays is a dinner only menu all day, but as I said, we shared a salad and an entry and it was just perfect. Prices are not cheap, but not crazy expensive either. My wife and I loved the old Bacio, the food and service and charm of the building. We tried the renovated Bacio last night, not happy. Sure the restaurant is larger inside, but the place doesn't have the same vibe. Because of the shape of the ceiling, it's quite loud, the floors look cheap, and the marble bar top is silly looking. The service is slower, and besides taking forever for two main courses, no appetizers when the place was not packed, the portions were small and OK tasting, no "wow, that was great". We'll stick to the Blue Dolphin for now on. read more

First time back since the renovations and it was better than average, but nothing great. Overall prices are reasonable and a nice wine list, with some good values. We had the Caesar Salad to start and it was decent but fairly ordinary. It was large enough for two to share, Definitely needed the anchovies for some added flavor. For main courses we had gnocchi with eggplant and chicken cacciatore. The gnocchi was excellent; light and flavorful. The chicken cacciatore was pretty much flavorless, despite the numerous ingredients in this dish. Also, there were only three small pieces of chicken, smothered in a mountain of sauce. Based on my limited sample size and observing some other pasta dishes being served, I think pasta is the thing to order here (they are all homemade). We drank a nice bottle of Malbec which was reasonably priced at $27. We didn't have dessert so I can't comment on them. Our server was very pleasant and the service was very good; attentive without being overbearing. Would we return? Yes, but they don't take reservations so would only go on a relatively quiet weeknight. I don't think a wait for a table would be worth it. Next time back I will definitely order one of their pasta dishes! read more
