My wife ordered swordfish, and I ordered bacon mac and cheese. Both meals were enormous, and delicious. We'll be going back in two weeks. It's a long drive, 1.25 hours, but we'll worth it. Came in on a Christmas, Eve of December 2022, Waiter was very nice and attentive. I ordered corn beef and hash and replaced the toast with home fries and a side salad w/House salad dressing (white, balsamic vinaigrette.) A nice little creamy vinaigrette with a honey mustard taste to it. The mixed greens for the salad was a good selection (Didn't feel heavy or watery). Corn beef and hash is also made with good selection of diced potatoes and chorizo. Pros: Good quality and I nothing left to bring back to the kitchen. Service: wonderful. Andrew is really good at his job. Not so great is there is no oat milk or almond for lactose intolerant individuals such as myself and a lack of Wifi. Following my Goddaughter's first communion, Back40 was the first choice for dinner. We had 15 adults and 2 children. Considering it was a fairly large party, they had one large table and one smaller one right behind it that sat six. The waiter came over right away and was very friendly. Before taking our drink orders, he gave us time to get situated. My mom and I ended up getting the traditional eggs Benedict. My husband ordered corn beef hash eggs Benedict and my dad got a burger. All said their food was delicious. Despite the fact that the tables were a little close to other patrons dining, unsure if this was due to the extra table they added for us or if this was the norm, and the limited menu, I would've loved to have more choices for brunch, I would still give a solid 5 stars. You will definitely leave full, prices are reasonable, service and food were excellent. read more

THE FLIES, THE FLIES. Ok folks. I have dined here no less than a dozen times and EVERY SINGLE TIME I am swatting flies away from my food. Whether we eat inside or outside there are flies everywhere. It's gross. Please note that I LOVE to dine al fresco (Trio, Coast Guard House, Matunuck Oyster Bar, the list is long) we never have an issue with flies like this. Also, the mixed drinks. Very expensive and very little alcohol. Beer is fine but the mixed drinks are not. The food is solid but the flies and the drinks are a problem. We hosted a party of 6, 2 drinks each and not the slightest buzz. LOTS OF MIXERS used! Back 40 PLEASE figure it out ASAP. There's a way. No need to reinvent the wheel. The food here was great. And there's a lot of it! My husband and I don't eat it often but this place made us happy we decided to leave the house. The tots were crispy. Every single one. And they didn't sog up when the sauce was poured on them. That alone is impressive! My husbands chicken sandwich was seasoned so well, and still hot! It didn't sit under a lamp or on the station waiting to be delivered. It was cooked, and came straight to the table! Our seating was outdoors and honestly, my preference. We got a wonderful light breeze and plants to look at. The tables were clean and balanced - no wobbles here. The servers were attentive and the staff was nice. I do wonder how much diversity they have, so it would be worth it to visit again. I met friend for lunch here on a weekday on her suggestion, and boy am I glad I did! Nice atmosphere, servers prompt and friendly. We were seated immediately and sat at a regular table ( I am not a fan of highboy seats and tables). The menu is huge and they offer so many things that sound delicious.... I decided on the BACK 40 BURGER*$12 ( 1/2 lb. prime beef, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, special sauce, brioche bun, hand-cut fries.) I ordered it medium rare (no cheese) and it came out perfectly on a big fresh brioche bun. I also got the TRUFFLE FRIES $6 (hand-cut fries, Parmesan cheese, truffle oil, garlic aioli, fresh herbs) which were awesome. They weren't too "truffley" and the hand cut fries were cooked perfectly. I love skin on my fries! My friend got the BLACK BEAN + QUINOA BURGER $13 (house made vegetarian black bean + quinoa burger, lettuce, tomato, onion, chipotle aioli, guacamole, brioche bun, hand-cut fries) also with the truffle fries and said it was delicious. All in all it was a really good meal and I will definitely be back to try more things. We did not have a cocktail, but they looked really good as well. read more

I have been here several times and continue to enjoy it. The Seasons Change Salad is one of my favorite salads, but you may want to ask for the dressing on the side. I also really love the nachos with pulled pork. I appreciate that they have a nice outside option and the tables aren't too close together (inside or out) for those who still like some distance. Had to stop by here being a big Culpo family fan! It was on our way to Newport, and so glad we ventured over here. I did check the menu beforehand and saw it was super vegetarian friendly which was a huge plus. This is kinda located in the middle of nowhere but once you find it, it is a huge gem. The decor and set up of this place is so planned out and beautiful, and I loved the relaxed setting. The staff is very friendly and with covid all the seats are super far apart and socially distant. I called in advance to make a booking, and they were even super accommodating when I wanted to move back my reservation. We ended up ordering the mac and cheese and a burger and were so satisfied with the food. This is such a great gem in the area and I am looking forward to stopping by here very soon!! read more

The baked mac is amazing, unfortunately they took off one of my family's favorite dishes done by them (the steak poutine!!) but otherwise everything that we have had here has been amazing. I'm picky about meat and when I thought mine was too pink for my taste, waitress took back into the kitchen and brought another asap. Good atmosphere, pretty wide open space. Tried their brunch menu on Sunday. Started with a mix up on the bloody Mary's in which they had the wrong toppings. Which was a minor issue. Since this was the 1st visit I was debating if I should pick from the breakfast or lunch menu. Well the maple sriracha chicken and waffle got the nod. It was quite interesting since it incorporated a cole slaw and blue cheese crumbles. But what the hell, no balls no glory! Very nice presentation, and appealing to the eyes so let's see if it's as appealing to the taste buds. It certainly packed a punch of different flavors. However the blue cheese kind of becomes over powering at the end of every bite. Chicken was tender and tasty. The sriracha maple syrup was a nice combination Seems like everyone is using sriracha in boosting the flavor profiles. All in all I'll be back for another round of dining. read more

My husband ordered the Mac & Cheese and added chicken-the biggest mistake of this dish was the chicken that was obviously pre-made/thawed-out-refrigerator-chicken. The cheese sauce left much to be desired... I'll give them kudos for the cavatappi noods though, they're the best. I ordered the fish tacos...at least the chipotle aioli had some flavor? :/ claimed to be fresh, local cod, however it also tasted like pre-made Gorton's frozen fish. The mango salsa was ok...again, gave me store bought vibes. My kiddo had the kid's tenders and fries, and of course I needed to try them...the chicken tenders were similar to McDonald's chicken nuggets...just shaped like tenders. He threw them after tasting, but with a toddler that could go both ways... I will say the tropical cider was good. Asiago pretzel appetizer was okay. I guess we were disappointed because for a restaurant, we were expecting SOMETHING to be freshly made and unfortunately, everything tasted like it came out of the freezer section of a local grocery store. For the prices of the food, definitely not worth the buck. My husband did say his beer at least tasted like the keg lines were clean! So there's a star! Been here several times after visiting the veterans cemetery. Went today, and it was disgusting enough not to eat there. We actually banged down our beers to get out asap. Flies everywhere and the whole place smells stagnant and musty. The bar was dirty, menus were filthy and the bathrooms? Both disgusting and the smell was like they have never been cleaned or sanitized. This is clearly a place for kids to work and hang out. Why anyone would eat there is a mystery. We saw people leaving full plates of food. Board of health needs to visit that place. read more

This is my second time getting food from here. Both times take out. First time was horrendous. My sandwich was soggy and fries were inedible. Cost me $19 and I threw it away. it was a club sandwich, not sure of the name because it's not on the menu anymore! Tonight I had the fish and chips. Fries were much better this time. Yay!! Fish was good batter was good. Not the best I've had here in Rhode Island, but definitely not the worst. I'd have it again. $20. I think the prices are way too high for what you get, but there are not many restaurants close by here so I guess they can get away with it. It was a gorgeous day but the road noises distracted a little. I had the chicken parm and it was delicious. My daughter had the naked chicken wings and fries, wife had a salad.
