We're here for Sunday brunch and this place is pretty awesome. I don't eat a great amount of food so I got the breakfast sandwich and added fresh jalapeños. My hubby had the gravy train....now come with an appetite for that! Service was superb, fast and friendly. This place is in the Publix plaza and parking is never an issue. read more

Had dinner here... we got their beer queso... I had shrimp tacos and my fiancé ordered chimichurri quesadilla... he thought it had steak but it turned out it was vegan.. oh well... the service was amazing and the staff was so friendly.. but I have to say the food was mediocre at best.... writing this in hopes they see it and maybe make some changes... queso was ok... the spicy coleslaw with my shrimp was not good whatsoever.. and the tacos were just ok.. really cool atmosphere and great craft beer selection... could only see myself going back If it was a late night and they were open? Hi folks, the manager of urban 40 someone I've known trust for a long time. He told me last Monday that they had a salad that was the best ever eaten. My wife Julie and I enjoyed a GREAT lunch at Back 40 Urban Fresh yesterday. Julie ordered the Shrimp Curry salad and the Buttermilk Coconut Curry dressing makes it over the top. I ordered the Island Bowl with Jerk Chicken. Their Jerk chicken is the BEST in the area. Food was great, service by Andrew and Melissa was super and the setting was perfect. Have had two encounters with this restaurant, one with take out and another dining in. Both were very disappointing. My wife and I wanted to try this restaurant as it was fairly new and read all the 5 star reviews. The Mahi tacos I ordered for take out was bland and tossed together in a dry soft taco with some sort of bland mayo like dressing and a scattering of shreded lettuce. Thought I would give the place a second chance in a dine in setting. I ordered a hamburger thinking it would be a safe order to get a comparison with other restaurants. The flattened hamburger was served on a rectangular roll with a spread on barbeque sauce and some bacon. Again, bland, dry and unappealing in presentation. Can not believe how this place rated 5 stars in custom reviews. Will never return and do not recommend this establishment. read more

If you hit their $2.50 tacos happy hour then it does not get any better .. they return to that special and their old happy hours previously 2-5 now 3-6 because of competition across the street .. the cook there has always used fresh ingredients.. most items are $15 so they have a healthy margin on food now .. before it was better with their house margarita and OMG pita style nacho chips .. so they did loose a couple awesome things .. they loose a star for that .. the guacamole is better across the street but they have a better marinated steak quesadilla read more

Food is very good and they have a good selection of different craft beers. Small restaurant with a local vibe small outdoor seating area that is pet friendly, they even brought water out for the dogs! The recent new additions to the menu are very good! read more

Love back 40. They have been there for us throughout the pandemic lockdowns like a rock. The staff always is attentive and kitchen is most consistent we've seen. Service was great, our waitress was very friendly. We ordered a beer, marg and two quesadillas. Marg and jerk chicken quesadilla were good. Restaurant has been open for about 3 weeks. This is our first visit and it has not been a great one. Firstly, we ordered the gumbo and when it arrived there was no shrimp in it; we sent it back and it took 20 minutes before we received our gumbo appetizer, which came with our lunch. I had chili bowl and my husband had pressed jerk sandwich...I wouldn't order the chili bowl again , but my husband liked his sandwich. Service was slow and we had to ask for cutlery and napkins. We were excited to try the new Back 40 Urban Cafe in Fruit Cove & we were not disappointed! We were immediately welcomed into the cafe & our waitress, Kalli, was quick to take our drink order; plus checking on us on a regular basis throughout our meal. The menu has a large variety of items from soups, salads, sandwiches, specialty items, burritos & tacos. I had the Thai peanut & chicken salad-it's a LARGE bowl of romaine, shredded carrots, marinated cukes, mandarin oranges, peanuts, grilled sliced chicken, crispy rice noodles & a delicious peanut dressing which had a little kick. Very good. Hubby had the jerk chicken tacos, which he enjoyed & mom had the upside down chicken pot pie-again a hefty amount of food with lots of chunk chicken & a puffed pastry bottom. The manager let us sample their homemade salsa-it is made with pineapple not too sweet with heat that follows up at the end of your bite. Mmmm good. We will definitely be back to try other menu items-all fresh & the cafe is very eco conscious, using biodegradable straws & take out containers. Everything we had there was delicious. Salsas and dressing are made fresh. Service was great and friendly. The background music was truly background music unlike overly loud places like this. My wife and I were excited to support a local restaurant and enjoy some fresh food. Unfortunately, our wait time to receive our food far exceeded many of the other guest. We were promptly seated and placed our drink and appetizer order. The drinks and beer cheese queso dip arrived quickly and we placed our entree order. After 40 minutes we inquired about our meal and the waitress apologized for the wait and went to check. We were told it was coming up. After another 10 minutes and seeing other guests come and go we inquired once again with no luck. So, we decided to cancel the order. The waitress quickly apologized and gave us the dip and tea at no charge. Observing the numerous take-out orders, it would appear that call-in orders took priority over in house guest. Hopefully this was just a rare occurrence and not the future normal. Highly disappointed in this visit. It will be a long time before trying this place again. read more
