The Back Home Sampler is an appetizer-meal for two, a full platter of filling items, fried chicken and Kalua Lumpia are among the highlights. Loco Moco is made with two big beef patties, and Fried Saimin is an island chow mein. The Luau Platter is my first taste of Lau Lau, I find the fragrant taro-leaf and pork combination fascinating. The Kalua Pork is juicy but tastes more braised than buried...probably because the health department wouldn't take kindly to people burying pigs in Carson. There are so many sides, and all of them are awesome. Chicken long rice is a cup of comfort, the ramen cabbage salad has some real snap, the mac salad is always my favorite, and although I still don't love Lomi Lomi, theirs is the first one in which I can actually see the salmon. If you get nothing else, just the Huapia Cheesecake is worth a visit. I've never cared for coconut but this is one of my favorite desserts I've had all year. My wife loves Hawaiian food, so she convinced me to try this Hawaiian restaurant, which really does feel like the former Lahaina. The food is much better than I expected and was truly Hawaiian food at its best! I wanted to try the sampler, which has many of the foods I'm accustomed to in Hawaii, and they did not dissappoint. Their fish tacos are better than I've had at Mexican restaurants and the fried chick was all dark meat and so soft. I felt so much at home with their staff and felt their service was truly felt. As for ambiance, the decor resembles the buildings I recollect from my most recent trip to Maui before the fires, and kind of made me sad that it's all gone. One of my favorite hawaiian spots to get food from! I've only ever gotten take out or catering from here and haven't actually eaten inside the restaurant before but despite the food traveling from restaurant to home, the food is always delicious! This is one of my favorite Hawaiian places. I love that they've maintained their quality of food and great service. I recommend getting their plates to get the most bang for your buck. Even if you can't finish a plate, you at least get to make two meals out of it. You can't go wrong with their fried chicken. It's got the right combination of crunchy and tender. Also it's very tasty, but not too salty. Another plate I really like is their Kalbi plate. It's very tasty, tender and juicy. I would also recommend getting their bacon fried rice either by itself or as an upgrade from the white rice. Their service has always been excellent. Our church was looking for a place to order Hawaiian catered food for our Father's Day celebration. One of our church members highly recommended it as her group eats there once a month. She was absolutely correct. All the food we ordered were amazing! Everyone loved them. The portion was perfect and the price is just right especially compared to the prices of food now a days. We ordered the Spam musubi, Chinese chicken salad, macaroni salad, Lahaina fried chicken, grilled beef teriyaki, Hawaiian barbecue chicken, and miso salmon. The service was awesome! The ordering had different choices either by phone, in person, or on line. I emailed and someone responded right away. I was told I was going to receive a call to take my credit card information but I won't be charged until the day of. They open at 11 and we asked to pick up the food by 11:30 a.m. I was amazed that they got all of our orders all ready to go. The person who I spoke to was very polite and they even offered to bring everything up to our car and load them. They were very helpful. While I was waiting, I noticed that the atmosphere of the restaurant was just like you got transported to Hawaii! I would like to go there someday and hopefully bring our women's ministry or just groups of our members and/or friends to eat in the restaurant and try more of their food. They were so nice to let us make a reservation for our basketball team, a party of 38, and they had two long tables set up. It was perfect for splitting up the boys+siblings and parents at separate tables. They also have an ingenious system of allowing each family to order and pay separately on mini clipboards.
