Had lunch here yesterday for the first time and it was delicious! I ordered the French dip with auju and it was pretty good. The meat could have used some seasoning but the auju made up for that! I'm an out of towner who stopped in with my family. We loved the menu and specials. I had a salad I'd never imagined existed and already want to go back the next time I'm around. Yesterday was my second time dining at this restaurant. My first experience was very good...food was amazing and service was on point. This weekend I was in Salisbury again visiting family and told my boyfriend we should go and how good the food is. We went inside you are not greeted by anyone. The bartender yelled across the bar for us to grab the table in the back corner. Once we got there, the bartender walks to our table and said she would be our waitress. This didn't surprise me because of our close location to the bar. We got our drinks right away; however, for her to get our food order took around 10-15 mins, which didn't even happen until we filled out one of the paper menus which once she took our order she ripped up in front of us. This location seems to be a lot of regulars since they gathered more attention from our server than we did. Whenever she did have to come to our table it seemed like a chore, slamming food/drinks onto the table. She also got snippy with two older gentlemen next to us by rushing them for their credit cards to pay the bill. The restaurant was not that busy this type of service should not have happened. I'll probably be returning just because of how good the food is, but another bad experience with service would probably overrule my decision to ever come back. read more

Me and my husband ate there on a busy Wednesday. We've been there a couple of times before. We sat in a booth next to the kitchen. We watched a waitress eat chips off of someone's plate and then she licked her fingers and rearranged the rest of the chips, another guy who worked in the kitchen ate fries off someone's plate. I was disgusted. We will never eat there again. If they're doing this where we could see them, what are they doing we don't see. My advice is DON'T eat there . read more

Excellent restaurant for lunch or casual dinner. There's a big variety of sandwiches available. Everything is always fresh. I've been many, many times and it's always delicious. We like this place and overall the food is good w lots of great choices. Only question we have is why they don't put their great sandwiches in heftier hearty bread worthy of what they put inside. We have to eat open face because the bread is so soft and clearly not bakery quality so the sandwiches fall apart. But they do a brisk business so I guess that's not s priority. Panera bread does it right but without the atmosphere of backstreet. The she crab soup is yummy if a bit salty. We will still return when in town. read more

This was our first time at Backstreet Grill and had heard so many great things about this place. Finally, we decided to try it. We were seated immediately, even though it was super busy (it was a Saturday night). We waited 10 minutes to be greeted by anyone once at the table. When the waitress appeared, so threw coasters down on the table and said "what do you want to drink". No hello. No welcome. Nothing. We ordered drinks and she left. Mind you, this was our first time here and had no idea about the ordering process (you write/check boxes of what you want). After she returns with our drinks, I asked her about the ordering process. She was rude in explaining it and just left the table. My guest and I were mortified. When she returned to get our order, she seemed annoyed, read our order aloud and then walked off. After, she only appeared 3 more times at our table. One to refill my water that had been sitting empty for 30 minutes. The next to bring food. And finally to throw the bill on the table. She threw the check on the table!!! We did nothing wrong. Not once complained or said anything to upset her. She was just rude. I meant to keep the receipt with her name but I wanted to get out as soon as possible. I believe her name started with an E and she was an older lady who wore heavy makeup to make herself appear younger. She was rude and I couldn't enjoy my food because of her. We will not be returning or recommending your business to others. She needs to be fired. If only I had gotten her name. read more

I have been a regular customer since moving back to the area. I have been really disappointed my last several visits. What i can recall once cold fries which the nice waitress was nice to exchange then the same meal dry Smith Island cake. My last visits the Mamosos which were on special were not good my cousin agreed and by the time I finish my cream of crab it was milky not creamy at all and lack crab. I have other good meals but its not consistently good. read more

The drink prices were good, the food was good the service was AWFUL. We sat at a booth and started with a couple of drinks, our server didn't even introduce himself at first, he just came and sort of threw our stuff down and asked what we wanted. We found out a few rounds later his name was Tony, and he was clearly not happy to be working this particular evening. He was short, impersonal, rude, and all around one of the worst servers I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. It was obvious from the outset that he was not happy about being there, and he was not shy about showing it. He would roughly put our stuff down and then briskly leave. It got to the point where he would come and ask if we needed anything and if we didn't answer immediately he was gone; once while my friend was in mid-sentence asking for something. If everyone that worked at Backstreet acted like this I seriously doubt that there would be any return business. read more
