Usually a great place to eat but this week has been disappointing. Ordered pizza earlier this week and the crust was not what we expected. Kind of like eating a cracker with toppings. Tonight was a real disappointment. Ordered Honey Teriyaki wings for my wife and Jerk for myself. Got them home and we had wings with Honey BBQ and wings with nothing. I know it has been a struggle with covid and the increased number of to go orders but wish they would take a bit longer to make sure orders are correct. read more

Do not waste your time trying to order togo food. They are living in the last century and apparently can only afford one phone line which is ALWAYS busy. Times must be tough if a restaurant can't afford more than one phone line. You should probably just throw in the towel. read more

Have eaten here quite a few times. In the past it seemed to be better than the last couple of times we have eaten here. Today I ordered the prime rib sandwich and pub chips. My husband ordered the bison burger and pub chips. Firstborns m.h y prime rib sandwich was warm not hot and was about equal parts of beef and fat. The pub chips were also not hot and were dripping in grease...bison burger was fine but order it well done as last week husband ordered it medium and it came out rare. Today he ordered well done and it was fine. Wait staff very good..Also bathroom was not as clean as previous. I don't know if it has changed ownership or management but seems to be going down...maybe management needs to up their standards... read more

This is best restaurant in hickory North Carolina. The waitstaff offers in believable service and friendly. The food is always perfect as well as daily specials and selection of soups. Tough review because the food is amazing and consistently good. However, the service is lacking. I tried to call them 78 times over 40 minutes and didn't get them once. Just the message saying to try back again in a few moments. This isn't the only time this has happened either. They need to figure out a way, especially in these times when ordering food to go is so highly used, to have someone to handle call ins. Or at least they need to make online ordering an option on their website. I know others who have had this issue with them too. read more

This place has gone downhill A LOT!!! My husband and I went there for lunch. Although we were seated promptly and the waitress came to our table rather quickly, the food was horrible. We ordered nachos for an appetizer and it appeared the cheese had been melted in the microwave topped off with jalapeños. Our food came out which both of us order a chicken salad surprise. The pub chips were so salty and had some kind of barbecue seasoning on it which made it nasty. I won't be going back in the near future. read more

My boyfriend and I have eaten here several times in the past. The food has always been pretty solid, however I am absolutely appalled by the service we received tonight. I preface this complaint by saying that we were sitting at the bar, and yes I get it, people can get rowdy anywhere alcohol is served, but this was 8pm on a Sunday evening. We were travel weary from a long flight and just wanted to get a meal before trudging home to unpack. About 10 mins after placing our order, a group of 3 ladies began to hover over our chairs screaming out profanity and loudly repeating what type of shots they were about to take. While eating my salad I briefly looked above the bar which has a mirror, and saw one of the women pretending to stroke my boyfriend's hair and flicking her tongue towards his ear. Of course I asked her what the hell she was doing and my boyfriend asked the entire party to leave us alone. I once again want to repeat that we are not prudes and understand people want to have fun, but this was clearly not the right atmosphere or time for it. We were just minding our business and waiting for our dinners. We tried to ignore the group but they kept making snide remarks. We told the bartender we were leaving because we were being harassed. All she asked was if we wanted to make our order to go instead. No attempt was made to get a manager and address the women who were being unwarrantedly nasty towards us. To Backstreets for a late lunch. Delicious. I had a Bruchetta Melt. It looked pretty grim when it arrived - I was sorry I ordered it - but it was so good that I ate it all, part of the plate too, and enjoyed every bite. First time we have been there in well over a year. Our companions loved their food also. Last time (over a year ago) the cigarette smoke drove us out. This time, in a newly rebuilt building, with new Non-Smoking laws, there was no trace of smoke. Beautiful. read more

I decided to stop in after reading reviews about their service and sandwiches and let me say, neither disappointed. I had a Reuben wrap with a side salad with Tomato Balsamic Vinaigrette. The corn beef was succulent and cooked just right. The salad is what cost the restaurant a star, it was as Plain Jain as they come with a few pieces of lettuce, a tomato slice, some shredded carrots and cheddar cheese. The dressing was great, but the salad itself left a lot to be desired. Food aside, the service was superb. My barometer of service is the attentiveness of the waiter without being intrusive or overbearing. My waiter was there, without being there. On numerous occasions my glass was refilled without even having to ask. Overall, definitely a place I'd go back to if in the area, just not for the salad. read more

We used to love this place as a regular weekend spot but the food quality has really suffered in recent years. The chicken tenders used to be plump and juicy but the last few visits have proven to us that they have been skimping. Tiny, overcooked slices of meat were not at all appetizing. My kids refused to eat them. And they use the same tiny things in their wraps, which used to be tasty, but now are just okay. I do love their buffalo shrimp. I hope that doesn't ever change. It would be nice if this restaurant would change up the menu every once in a while. Keeping it the same year after year just gets kind of stale. I think Backstreets could have a come-back, if they would put the focus on improving inventiveness and food quality. read more

We had dinner here and were very disappointed. But, let me start with the good. The service was very good and our waitress friendly. If she didn't know the answer to a question she asked someone who did know. The only other employee we had interaction with was the hostess who was also very nice. Now for the bad: The shrimp bisque didn't have much flavor. The potato soup was so-so. We each had the Caesar salad with fried oysters on top as a protein. The lettuce was limp, the croutons stale, and the oysters way too greasy. The wine and beer were good though but would not recommend this restaurant. This was the worst meal we've had in the two weeks we have been traveling in the High Point and Hickory area. We have found the food to be quite good everywhere we've eaten except this restaurant. read more

Well the greeting was anything but prompt with the young woman staffing the desk sitting in an adjacent room thumbing several menus. She finally stopped her conversation with an unseen companion and came to the desk and greeted us. We were soon led to the bar area and oops...the table was still soiled with a previous customers detritus. We were directed to the adjacent table that had another refuse pile on top and jutting out into the floor area. The server exclaimed "I guess I'll have to get a broom!". I really like the southwestern chicken sandwich but make it a wrap. Seems like a fairly nice, popular, locally owned bar and grill/pub. There seem to be a lot of regulars who the wait staff knows by name. I will quibble with the wings because the buffalo sauce is, though pretty hot, hardly a sauce at all. Otherwise, not much so far to complain about. One other quibble: Although the bar area has five TVs, no one seems to care much what's on them. They were crowded so we opted for take out. The pub chips were greasy and burned. I was able to pick about 4 partial chips to eat. The hamburger was not cooked as requested. I ordered well done and my hamburger was pink inside so I had to eat around the edges. Our other order was the Rueben sandwich which was dry - not much thousand island sauce at all.Very dissappointed with the food. Trashed my meal. Also, the lady taking my money could have at least looked at me. I get more attention from the lady taking my money at Bojangles. Busy is no excuse. Came into Hickory for a wedding and stopped here in between getting off the road and heading to the venue. We were on a TIGHT schedule (in hindsight we probably should have found something closer to Panera) so we were very pleased with the quick service and the friendly server.
