This place had great reviews and rightfully so. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating. Open concept as soon as you walk in. You are immediately greeted by the person behind the counter, and she was very helpful as soon as she figured we were new to the place. We ordered three of their Blue Collar burgers (no complaints, juicy and all things a burger should be. My son and I split the order of sliders which also were substantial for sliders and delicious. We ordered sides if fries which came out hot and crispy and fresh out the fryer. We also ordered a side of sweet potato fries that came with a side of marshmallow fluff. Lastly, we ordered a side of zuchinni fries which were garnished with garlic and shredded parmesan cheese. Bathrooms were clean. There is a bar and plenty of TV's to choose from if you want to enjoy a game while you eat. Prices were decent. Can't even complain that they didn't have meal deals because although we ordered burgers and the french fries and drinks on the side I believe we paid what we would have had we gone to McDonald's or even In N Out. Typical Thursday dinner for me at this establishment. Always greeted with a smile and a "welcome in". The servers are friendly and always willing to help by grabbing you an extra sauce or two. Country music is the vibe here, after all this is "Oakdale bud!" Tonight we had the half fries and I had the Big Kahuna Burger. Pulled pork with pineapple and beef patty with all the fixings topped off with a hushpppy. The husband ordered the Smash Burger with one piece of cheese since 3 is too cheesy for him. If you love cheese keep it as is. One last thing the servers work very hard and you will see them clearing a table as your meal is finished and always keeping the floors clean as well. This was a very yummy burger joint. We really enjoyed the Smash burger, the sandwich and the fries. The Tumbleweed burger was a bit dry, otherwise everything was great. They even have marshmallow fluff that comes with the sweet potato fries (which I am a sucker for). This is an order at the counter type of place, but they do come by and pick up trays. Food was amazing and the bread they used for my sandwich was delightful. The staff was very kind and patient with me since it was my first time visiting and the cashier recommended one of their sandwiches and it was a 10/10 I will definitely be going again just for it. I always drive by here and was curious to go! They have little lights outside of their building which you can't miss going down Oakdale street! I had always wanted to try it because it looked so inviting and I loved a good cheeseburger. We came with a party of 8 for my twin cousins birthdays and they were EXTREMELY nice and accommodating even though they do not take reservations they really helped us out to big tables together to include everyone and one of the servers with the long braid, forgot her name but gosh she was the SWEETEST and I love chatting with her! 10/10 service!! The food was absolutely delicious I noticed on the menu they sure has some GOOD lookin sandwiches but since it was my first time dining there, an their known for their burgers, I got the smashed cheeseburger which was SO good the cheese was delicately melted to perfection, I couldn't notice my cousin got the "mac and cheese burger" interesting choice but she had been there many times and swore on oh! Last Sunday while dining with a relative, I was made aware of a place called Backwoods Burgers located in Oakdale, CA. As this person knew what kinds of foods I liked, and had just dined there, it went to the top of my "let's go" list. As I happened, today my wife had the day off so away we went. Wow is all I can start with. From the moment another held the door for us, to the friendly greeting and smile of the young lady who waited on us at the counter to the decor and design inside and out, we immediately loved it. We found what we needed on the simple menu, accommodations from the git go, to even having a knife to cut our burgers in have (we rarely eat the whole thing right away). SOLID experience all around. Two burgers, sweet potato fries, fried zucchini and two ice teas was our meal. The burgers were tasty, the sides great, the staff on point start to finish, Ashley was our server and did an OUTSTANDING job all the way. We even had another customer hold the door on the way out. When I went to take a picture as we left, another fellow stopped so as not to walk into my shot. Wow again. If you love burgers, and are nearby, you need to try these folks' fare. Loved this place. Ordered two salads cobb with steak and 2nd salad with chicken. Both salads were delicious. The blue cheese dressing was also delicious. This is the kind of place that you order at the counter you sit down and then they bring your food to you. We really took a gamble ordering salads from a burger place, but it paid off. I really wanted to love this place as the decor especially on the porch part of the restaurant is so cute and Olivia at the register was so sweet, which are the only reasons for the stars but the food was not good to me. They were all out of the banana pudding by 2:00 so I was pretty disappointed about that but maybe that was for the best as I'm not sure I would've even liked it.. The smash burger didn't have any flavor, it almost tasted like boiled patties like the one in sonic's $6 smash meal.. I couldn't eat the burger after one bite so my husband ate it. The chicken was hard as a rock and barely had any chicken it was just breading and the mac n cheese had no flavor whatsoever, I added salt and it still didn't help.. We also loved that they offer a variety of sides -- not just regular fries, but different kinds of fries and hush puppies. We really loved the hush puppies -- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and so tasty! I ordered the Tumbleweed Burger, which had good flavor overall, but it only had a very small dollop of barbecue sauce. I ended up asking for extra on the side, which made it much better. The onion rings were not your typical salty, crispy fried kind; instead, they had an interesting, different breaded coating. While they weren't what I expected, they were actually pretty good for what they were -- just lacking in seasoning. The dining environment is casual and welcoming, and I like that you order at the register -- it keeps things simple and quick. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Burgers sold ala cart but they are a mouthful and fries sold a full or half orders. I had a Tumbleweed burger and it had a well cooked Angus patty, pepper jack cheese melting on top, thick cut bacon, BBQ sauce and fresh produce. It was juicy and flavors melded nicely, not like some places that bury a tiny patty under veggies and sauce. Garlic fries were ok but not the intensely garlic flavor I like. Normal people will probably like these. It came with a side of ranch dressing but you can ask for more if you need it. Friends have been recommending this place but I usually drive after it closes so I'm glad I had time to stop in this time. Ample indoor seating for singles or small groups but looks like it could handle larger group (10+). Patio seating also available that looks like it would be nice a warm night. The lady at the counter was friendly and accommodating and took my order with a smile. When another lady brought out my food, she asked if I needed anything else which I appreciated. I ordered The Big Kahuna burger and a drink. That burger was SO GOOD!!! It had pulled pork, pineapple, a juicy patty, Swiss cheese, tomato, red onions, lettuce, and a pickle. All this with a yummy teriyaki sauce in it. I was also surprised by the little ball of dough pinned on top. I couldn't tell what it was, but it tasted like a hush puppy perhaps? It was delicious. This burger was truly exceptional. The lady who brought out my burger even returned twice to check how everything was and if I needed anything. Not only did I have an excellent experience, but I also felt taken care of. It came as a square steak on a round roll with all the fixings. Unfortunately, the steak was on the thin side, so most of what I tasted was the bun and toppings rather than the meat itself. I also ordered the large garlic fries -- tasty, but they could have used a little more garlic punch. My 805 beer, however, was ice cold and refreshing, which definitely hit the spot. Plenty of seating at 12:30pm and the service is always top notch. We went with the mac and cheese burger, the mango habanero salad, side of linguica baked beans and side of mac n cheese. Not 1 complaint out of me at all. The burger was perfectly cooked, the salad man, that was my favorite part of the meal, I think however, a scoop of beans and a scoop of mac n cheese was making my mouth very happy. Despite a long line for dinner they moved through the line at a decent pace and did a good job of getting food out. Place is nice casual hang out spot with plenty of room. The bad, burgers looked delicious...however they were way over cooked. As a burger place I expected a lot more and maybe should of asked for the burger to be cooked a particular way, or at very minimum ask how we want it done or warn. Even pulled pork in Big Kahunna and Bacon in tumbleweed was dry and chewy. Almost like they used left over or forgot about it cooking. Really wanted to love it and was just disappointed.
